Waitstaff recommended -palomino, rabo, churrasco, ropa viejo, all the pork dishes. 1) ordered bistec palomino- thin sliced sirloin with a LOT of grilled onions. Had a bit of gristle, but she was right! VERY good. Loved the black beans. Great flavor. 2) Hubble had pan de bistec. Said it was good. ‍ French fries were really good! Extra crispy. Coated with something-maybe cornstarch? Anyway they were really good. 3) J ordered a Cuban sandwich with extra pickles (chef forgot), yuca, plantains, black beans-extra large. His 3rd time here. He LOVES this place. 4) C ordered camarones with lemon,& yuca side. I had a taste of the yuca. I really liked their version. Maybe cooked in chicken broth? Very flavorful topped with garlic. I'm adding this next time. Other diners didn't give good reviews. We thought it was good! Great bread. Helpful waitstaff. Parking lot spacious. Noticed many people picking up to-go orders. A middle aged lady with a larger group seemed to be waiting for us the leave(tables toward the back are freestanding so can accommodate maybe 10? First time at Florida Restaurant and honestly, I'm still thinking about the food. Everything was so good. First off, Theresa was amazing. Super friendly, attentive, and just made us feel really taken care of the whole time. That kind of service makes a big difference. As for the food... wow. I had the rabo encendido and it was insanely good, tender, flavorful, just perfect. We also got the fried yuca and sweet plantains, and both were spot on. Crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. The exterior of this Cuban restaurant might not look like much but the 2025 interior remodel resulted in a very sleek yet basic interior. I found it very comfortable and the waitstaff to be so nice and charming. I came with a friend for lunch. We started with an appetizer of fried plantain chips along with the complementary basket of bread. While the bread was nothing out of the ordinary, I really enjoyed the crunchy chips while waiting for my main dish: Lechon Asado. Lechon Asado consisted of slow-roasted pork marinated in garlic sauce with sauteed onions on top. It came with fried plantains and moros (Cuban black beans and rice). The pork was so tender! Everything on my plate was incredibly delicious. I rarely have Cuban food so this was a real treat. I thought it was priced very reasonably too. read more

I heard Florida Restaurant has been here for many years and recently reopened after renovating. The interior has a modern look with hanging faux plants and cool black and white photos taken in Cuba. A friend proposed coming for lunch, so we checked it out. We got here around noon and as soon as we entered, a waft of sewage smell struck us. I wanted to walk right back out and find another place, but my friend still wanted to stay. As more patrons came in, we could hear them making comments about the smell too. Eventually, the place was filling up and the smell was masked by food being served. However, I will say that the cafe con leche was really good and strong! This was probably my favorite item here. The beef and spinach empanadas were a nice size, average in taste. The Arroz con Pollo was a bit bland and wished there was a little more chicken with it. They served a habanero salsa, which I appreciated and poured on this dish to make it better. Our server was very nice and attentive. My friends and I took our time catching up and they were totally cool with that despite getting busy while we were there. It is highly recommended that you stop by this Cuban gem. I have driven by this place for years but have not tried the food until now. I had one of the best tasting Rabo Encendido that I ever had. The oxtails were cooked tender in a delicious sauce that had just a tiny hint of wine. Some restaurants are quite heavy handed with the wine but this place was perfect. A few peas were scattered on top of the dish which made the presentation very appealing to me. The portion size was good with two big meaty oxtails and two smaller ones. The meal came with black beans, rice, and maduros. The plantains were nice and ripe, slightly caramelized so there was a slight sweetness. The rice was seasoned well with a good flavor. I was tempted to order another portion because it really complemented the oxtails and the black beans. I had an Iron Beer to go with my delicious meal. There is a definite return in the near future to this restaurant. I look forward to trying other items on their menu. Service was friendly and efficient. I was there with a childhood friend and did not feel rushed when we lingered over dinner. Recently renovated, the dining room is modern, airy, and comfortable. I was really excited to learn that this place finally reopened. Plenty of parking. The place is beautiful. The service was just ok. She didn't check on us after she brought our meal. I had the bistek empanizado and my hubby had the bistek con chimichurri. They were ok. His steak was super tender. My empanizado was a good size. The prices were high but that's comparable these days. I didn't like that the prices went up with a credit card and there was NO signage. That's just shady. I'll pay it but I don't appreciate being surprised. The stars were for the food only. Everything else needs some fine tuning. read more

This restaurant is across the street from my church so I see it every Saturday. I first noticed a huge mural being done. Cuba theme and oh so beautiful ! We were so excited for their reopening. 40 miles was so worth the drive. We've been coming here for years and when they shut down due to a fire, we were heartbroken and devastated. Thank you for reopening your doors to all your dedicated patrons! We patiently waited about 30 min, but we knew it was worth the wait. Their menu and prices didn't waiver too much and we certainly appreciated that. I wanted to order ALL my favorites but chose vaca frita, beyond mouthwatering with all mojo / garlic marinade, grilled onions atop; steamed rice and garlic and bell peppered black beans plus the sweet, savory maduros; sweet plantains. Hubby ordered masitas de puerco, fried chunks of marinated tender pork; so good; same sides as myself. We did order croquetas as well, which is a must. Wish we weren't so full, would've loved to enjoy their thick, custardy flan. The ambiance indoors is beautifully decorated with photographs of Cuba. Fresh white paint brightened it up wonderfully. Wish they invested in nice cutlery, glasses and plates. Plastic just doesn't do it for me, especially in a beautiful setting such as this. We will be back, and with the rest of our family! read more

When I saw this on the receipt and asked the waitress her response was yes that's policy. I asked her where is that disclosed on the menu because it was not listed on the menus we had. She said oh yes some menus have it But yours did not have it. I asked to speak to a manager and was told no one was available.
