Fish Tacos *Note: $1.25 on Tuesdays!
    james B.

$1.25 Fish Taco Tuesdays!!! I seriously can't believe I've never been here for their Fish Taco Tuesdays. The fish is freshly battered to a crunchy, meaty morsel of heaven. If I could give this fine establishment 6 stars I would. The tacos are served on street taco sided tortillas with a bed of thinly cut cabbage under two decent sized pieces of crunchy fish all topped with what I believe is in house made tartar sauce. And no I'm not paid to do this review, but would except fish tacos as payment. Wink wink They also serve shrimp cocktail, shrimp soup, fish fillet plates and dinner plates of various seafood options of all the little mermaids friends. If you like battered fish tacos then this place is calling your name. The restaurant is located very near the intersection of Norwalk & Washington Blvd in West Whittier.

My second time ordering pick up. I ordered 2 fish tacos, a shrimp ceviche. My food was decent. My husband ordered a fish and shrimp burrito (mixed) I never seen him not finish a burrito even if he didn't really care for it. He had me smell the burrito and it did smell fishy not a good smell. He didn't finish the burrito, said it tasted like it smelled. So guess we probably won't go back. Service was ok.

This is my go to for whenever I'm home and am craving some delicious and fresh mariscos. I've never been let down ordering ceviche and/or aguachiles from here and the beers are always cold! The staff is friendly and are amazing help with the charrolas(trays) if you're wanting to be everyone's favorite dish bringer at the potluck!

Mojarra a la Diabla, buen sazón y rica salsa diabla! Food is good, michelada was okay 3 out of 5 stars for me. The service is okay, I would have kept drinking if they would have came to check on me, waited on an empty beer before I decided to leave. Next time, I'll make sure to tell the waitresses to keep them coming.

Stopped by for lunch and had our dog, so they gave us the option to sit outside. It was a cool gesture because although they had a tent, it was not set up for lunch as the crowd was pretty small. Given we were outside the service was excellent as she checked on us often and the food was out quickly. Food was very good. We were in the mood for cocteles but my favorite mariscos place in Pico was closed (El Oasis) due to a fire so looked up Yelp for the next best option and here we are. We ordered a large pulpo cocktail and a large campechana with 3 oysters. The freshness and flavors were there with the option to add ketchup if you want a sweeter broth or hot sauce for those who like it spicy. Why not 5 stars? When it comes to cocktails, there are at least two other options that I prefer within a couple of miles. Mariscos El Oaisis and El Paisa. Oasis' broth is already perfect and doesn't need much more than tapatio from me. El Paisa has a basic broth to doctor up as well, but has a peppery base which I love. Paisa also includes oysters in their campechana and doesn't charge extra. Don't get me wrong, for the price (even with extra for oysters) it was a huge and well worth the price. Also with the addition of ketchup and tapatio, tasted really good. Some other pluses are that they give you free chips and salsa as well as both crackers and chips for the cocktails. I hate to choose. Plan to be back next time in the neighborhood and give some other options a try as they have a pretty large selection of seafood.

The service is friendly and courteous. The caldo de pescado was good, but the shrimp a la cucaracha was not. The sauce was very salty and difficult to eat.

They were fresh, crunchy, with ample green tomatillo salsa that was flavorful, making for a very authentic bite. The beans were very good and complemented the chilaquiles perfectly. I also asked about the traditional colorful head piece located behind glass next to the register and learned that it is a Chinelo, a traditional iconic carnival character from Morelos, Mexico. It is clear, the restaurant owners are proud of their heritage and are sharing it with everyone. (See attached picture). This restaurant is in such an obscure location, I can't believe I was going to a Burrito Track across the street for so many years not knowing this place existed. Friendly staff and prompt service. The unfortunate negative is it's location and I'm referring to parking. There must be 8 business crammed into this lot. With a bar to the right and a laudermat on its left finding a parking spot is like winning the lotto. Now layer in one driveway and you have to make a 3 point turn just to navigate to leave. The short answer is I will absolutely go back to this place as long as there is a parking space to be had.

We came here because my cousin DJSP was the featured DJ this Sunday, so I did my Yelp research and to be honest, I didn't know what to expect because the most recent reviews were a couple of months old, no recent food photos and menu photos were outdated. However we were going either way because it was also our featured DJ's birthday. We made reservations but that was difficult too as we called for several days until someone actually answered the phone. I was a little surprised because the food we ordered were all pretty tasty, decent portions, and reasonably priced. The service was ok. Orders took a little time to arrive, but they made sure we had chips and salsa and with a full crowd and a limited number of wait staff, they made sure we were still being attended too. Even though the restaurant is small and busy, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our waiter Washington, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made our whole experience even better. The atmosphere was perfect too. They had music playing at just the right volume and a big TV showing the live Dodger game, which the kids loved. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect level of spice for everyone at the table. The kids ordered horchatas and were excited about the unlimited refills (something you don't always see at other restaurants!). The drinks for the adults were just as impressive. My wife's watermelon margarita on the rocks was perfectly made. It was not overly sweet or syrupy like at some places. Our friends had the "El Jefe" margaritas, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tequila! For dinner, everything was a hit. The kids loved their meals. Albóndigas soup, shrimp tacos, and street tacos--all served with rice and beans. The adult dishes were just as good. The carne asada arrachera was cooked perfectly, the chile verde was full of flavor, and my chicken mole was delicious with a great balance of spicy and sweet without being overwhelming. The portions were very generous, and everything came with rice, beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. The only small thing I would've preferred differently was the chicken in my mole. I personally would've liked a leg and thigh instead of sliced chicken breast but the dish was still very good overall. What really stood out was the hospitality. At the end of the meal, Washington offered us "holy water"-house tequila shots on the house--and it wasn't cheap tequila either! Then after the bill came, he surprised us again with another round of "holy water". That level of generosity and care really impressed us. We also learned that the restaurant has been there 20+ years and is family-run by him and his siblings, which made the experience feel even more personal. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--one couple even said, "See you tomorrow Washington!" The only feedback we'd offer (coming from a customer service background) is that we noticed a few guests waiting at the entrance without being greeted, and one couple actually left the restaurant. A simple "Welcome, we'll be right with you" would go a long way. That said, it didn't take away from our experience. Overall, amazing food, great service, generous portions, and a welcoming family atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

Well I received the flautas (which were very tasty) but they were BALD. There was about one tablespoon worth of guacamole on the side. And a tiny little pinch of lettuce. I immediately asked the waitress if it was missing the toppings, and she said "yes it's missing sour cream." She left and came back and said there was no more sour cream. A Mexican restaurant without sour cream? Oh! really wish I would've known that before ordering because, like I said, I love my flautas drenched in toppings. I would've ordered something else had I known there was no sour cream. I requested some extra guacamole to make up for the lack of sour cream. With guacamole and the salsa that comes with chips, it still tasted pretty good but my heart was wishing I had sour cream and tons of cheese. It was definitely a tasty meal but was a HUGE miss on the lack of toppings, which is what I crave when I order flautas. I've never seen flautas look so sad and lonely. The rice and beans were okay. Not too bad not too good. Just ok. It's a shame the restaurant is super beautiful but the food doesn't really seem authentic.
