Our family loves Zumayas and we go there about once a month for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The owners are very nice and the food is authentic. We go for the homemade tortillas, tasty salsa, and the Cesar salad. It's the best Cesar salad around with or without the chicken. I do miss the bolillo they used to serve with it. For breakfast I love their nopales con huevo plate that is served with beans and of course, homemade tortillas. My husband likes their nopales con "Zumayas speci" that comes with carnitas, chilaquiles, eggs, and beans de olla or fried potatoes. At a recommendation from a former coworker, we had a retirement party for one of coworkers here. The funny thing is that person who recommended the business didn't even show up for the party? Bizarre. Anyways, for events like this, there's a spot in the back of the restaurant with TVs and enough tables and seating for a larger group of people. I'm not sure of the logistics, but there was a predetermined menu of a couple things to choose from and we can order or add anything extra if we wanted. I got there first with the decor that everyone provided and we were allowed to decorate, just make sure to clean up after yourselves. The funny thing was that when I was decorating, this older gentleman started helping me and I thought it was one of the workers and turned out to be some random guy! AHHH. I got the flautas with the refried beans. Portions were generous and the servers were efficient and friendly. I really do feel like this place is a hit and miss, they aren't consistent with their food. I've made several attempts to come back and unfortunately their service, food has declined. Extremely salty, mmm do you not peel your Chiles for RAJAS? Mine still had the skin on and I asked why and they said that's how they are, NOPE.... You charred your Chiles and peel the skin. No refills on your Aguas , though they aren't even fresh, they are machine mixed. The service can be a bit dismissive at times. Loud... very hot in the summer please invest in an AC. My hubby and I ordered chilaquiles. He got his divorciados style which means half red sauce half green sauce. I got mine Ranchera style (mild) and I fell in love with their sauces. The mild still has a nice hint of spice but it's not spicy. My husband's on the other hand were on the spicy side but not too spicy to the point your mouth is on fire, just the way he likes them. We took turns trying each other's chilaquiles to try the different sauces & we came to the verdict that Zumayas truly is a great quality & authentic Mexican restaurant. The hubby and I were looking for a Mexican restaurant to have lunch, we happen to come across Zumayas Mexican restaurant. It's a nice restaurant a little small so if you have a big party I would call ahead of time so they can accommodate.They also have outdoor seating in the back also. We came on a Sunday, afternoon, (they close early i think around 4, great for brunch or lunch) nice decor, oldies music. Cool place to chill and have a nice meal. For the food we both ordered enchiladas, there were so delicious. I got the asada taco and chicken enchiladas with green sauce and the hubby got the chicken enchiladas with mole. Food was okay and usually always is only problem was when I ordered to go , while sitting waiting for my order I saw the older waiter Latino server grabbing the chips with her bare hands then going to touch everything else without washing them using no proper hygiene.
