Stumbled upon this place when deciding what type of cuisine my coworkers and I wanted to eat. We eventually decided with Peruvian food. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a lady and had us choose a table to sit at. She took our drink order and served us some table bread and brought out 2 different sauces: green (had a little kick) & white (creamy & no spice). We then proceeded ordering our entrees and most of us ordered "saltados". The food came out and proportions were pretty big filled with flavor and tenderness. Zero stars, don't recommend. The service was deplorable, much like the food. It's my second time eating there so I can confirm it's not a one and done fluke. The quality and the taste of the food was disgusting. The temperature was 88 degrees inside the restaurant, while it was outside was 78 degrees ( I was there between 7pm & 8pm 7/27/26, verify with the almanac). I asked them to turn on the AC. Pretty decent spot for good Peruvian food! I called ahead for pick-up, but still had to wait about 15-20 min to get my food after arrival. That was the only bummer. But the lady working was really sweet, the food was delicious, and the place looked like it was fairly busy on a Sunday evening. The restaurant itself is cutely decorated and had a nice feel to it. El Cholito is Fire! I've been coming to this Peruvian Restaurant for years and let me tell you that the food here is amazing. Lomo Saltado is one my all-time favorite Peruvian dishes! A combination of juicy tender beef, crisp red onions, tomatoes all tossed in a delicious sauce and served over a bed french fries with a side of white rice. Can't forget their green creamy spicy aji sauce. Try their agua fresca de Maracuya. Truly the perfect combo and so incredibly delicious! Came in a little hesitant at first because the prices looked a bit steep, but I decided to go for it -- and I'm glad I did. Right away they brought out complimentary bread with two sauces: an aji and a creamy mayo-style sauce. Nice touch. I ordered the lomo saltado and the portion was big. The rice was beautifully seasoned, the meat was tender, and the fries were actually crispy (which is rare). Came here for Peruvian food. Small parking lot is available outside of the restaurant. I only see 1 server, but service was prompt. Everything was communicated in Spanish, so I was little lost. However, the server seemed very nice. Restaurant has a causal Latin vibes, and Spanish music was played on TV. Server brought us warm bread with a green and white dressing. The green dressing was too spicy for me. I like the white dressing much better. We got cream soda, which I am not a big fan of, and lomo saltado. I had similar dish before, but this lomo saltado was better than what I had. Meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful that was perfectly cooked. I finished the whole dish, and was very full! I called ahead and ordered the Lomo Saltado which was delicious but a little pricy. About half the tables were occupied during lunch hour and I saw a few people walking in as I was leaving. The parking is terrible with only 1 way in and out. To make matters worse, the parking spaces are tiny and are shared with multiple businesses next door. I mean everybody's allowed an off day. This place obviously taste good because I always see it packed. Today just wasn't there day . We waited for an hour and a half. Noticed that a table that was there when we got there still hadn't gotten their food either after they complained It just started a chain of events. My friends Is not patient and did not want to get her food after waitiing for so long. I was still in it to win it. What can I say it's definitely not as good as Fernando's on fire stone but it's not bad either. What a find this great restaurant is bomb....The food is amazing..we all had the Lomo Saltado...the steak was amazingly tender. We ordered extra Platano Frito...good decision as they disappeared very quickly. And a final note...the Cookies are to die for! Yum!Yum! Enjoy! We're going back soon. Very pricy but really good ! I got the pollo saltado and an Inca cola for $18. Other places I get soup and bread. But anyways the portion was generous. The fries are delicious and not soggy at all it's the perfect texture. The chicken is well seasoned and cooked great. I almost gave the place 3 stars because when I got there the main person not sure If it was the owner or manager had attitude I guess I got there at the wrong time. They were closing out the register and I guess the money wasn't adding up but hello this girl was only trying to pick up her lunch. The other waiter was really polite even tho that older lady was being rude to her she even asked her to recount the money after I waited for 3 minutes she would of not hesitated to leave me waiting longer just so her register matches. In the search of Peruvian food around work, we came across this place. We went on a Thursday afternoon, easy parking, not busy. Only outdoor seating available at the moment. The food was great, portions good size, pricing was adequate. They give you bread rolls and the amazing green and orange sauces in which I drenched my food with. I yelped for yet another different spot for lunch. So, Jimmy Z and I headed out to Parrilla's as I noticed really good reviews for the place. Atmosphere: The decor inside is of a typical mom and pop restaurant. Several tables, TV's, 1 Waitress helping the entire place, etc. Artwork on the walls is pretty cool. There is parking in this small plaza, or you can park on the street. Service: There was only one waitress servicing the entire restaurant. Food: We had the following: Steak $14.99 Loma Saltado $12.75 Inka Kola $2.00 Mazamarro Morada and Arroz Con Leche $3.50 Total with taxes came to $36.00 Steak was good. Rice was dry, and not good. Adding copious amounts of their sauce got the rice to an edible condition. Jimmy Z polished off his Loma Saltado pretty easily. He liked it. Inka Kola was refreshing. I ordered a lomo salteado. The steak was dry but ok not something that I would say is bad. The situation I found myself conflicted was the cup they give to carry out. Is a soup cup which can't be held. They give you a straw like what do we expect to puncture the lid with a knife. I ended spilling the drink because how wobbly and not firm the cup was. They charge $6.50 plus tax for that drink and it couldn't even travel home. They give a bag to hold it like if it is soup. Very shady from the owner not to give customers a decent cup to hold their drinks. read more

Normally I travel 19 miles from my home to eat at these Peruvian place in Cerritos. Today i decided to go through a different route and stumbled passing by this place. saw an empty parking lot so I was like "why not" Area : located in Downey in a shopping center with its own parking plus street parking around just in case on a busy day. Located next to a juice place just in case if needed to wash it down. Lol Dinning room: it's a very spaced out room where you wouldn't feel cramped and also has music playing; as well has a Tv playing slides of picture of their food. Food: I got a Yuca plate as an appetizer with some huancia cream ( not sure if spelling right, sorry. Which has a light curry texture but without any of the spice. Bomb!!! (Salvi roots here so always down to eat Yuca. Went with what I always get which is the "Lomo saltado" let me tell you, I ended up eating my wife leftover before they became leftovers! Meat is marinated to perfection. Service: very friendly service. Attentive as well. Price: the price for everything at the end was a surprise for me normally for an appetizer drinks and 2 course meal really runs around $70 at cerritos. Lomo Salgado was pretty good, but the chaufa wasn't appetizing. I definitely wouldn't order again. It was flavorless and just made cheaply. My wife had ceviche and it wasn't that good either. The only way I would come back to this place is if I ordered lomo Salgado because that was the only thing that was good. They need to take more pride in their food and it was very expensive.
