I always get the Full House sauce with mild spice, but with a side of medium sauce to dip into too. I know it sounds crazy, but trust me it's SO good and gives the perfect balance of flavor and extra kick. The seafood tastes fresh, the sauce is rich and buttery, and the portions are really filling. The fries and extras soak up the sauce so well too. I also like that the spice levels are customizable because everyone in the group can get what they're comfortable with. Service has always been friendly whenever I've gone, and the atmosphere is casual and fun for eating with friends or family. Ordered the Shrimp Star Combo and overall it was a pretty disappointing experience. The shrimp tasted like they had been frozen for a long time -- the meat was soft and falling apart, which made it feel far from fresh. The seasoning didn't help much either. I also didn't like the sausage; the texture and flavor were both off for me. The only decent parts of the combo were the corn and potatoes, which were cooked well and actually enjoyable. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to save the meal. Service was another downside. I placed a takeout order and stood by the register for almost five minutes without being acknowledged at all. No greeting, no eye contact -- nothing -- even though staff were nearby. Overall, I wouldn't return. Atmosphere for Valentines was okay but obviously vibes were thrown off. Understandable for a holiday but the employees were trying to rush you in to get you out. The Asian Gentleman was really nice and welcoming even OFFERED to switch us from table to booth having only sat down less than 2 minutes. He was very appreciated and attentive. Came today for lunch. There were 3 other tables, including a larger party. I ordered mussels, snow crab and a drink, with the waitress. I liked how everything was fresh. I personally thought there was way too much paprika. I enjoyed it more after squeezing lemon into it. I was having a nice lunch until I needed a refill. The waitress did not check on any of our tables, at all. One of the parties that were there HAD to be a relative of the owner/manager/servers or even the OWNERS, I HAVE NO CLUE! But I did not sign up to go to a restaurant to hear a child scream while I was eating dinner. I did not pay for this additional service! The child was running up and down the aisles near tables where guests were seated and the child was free as can be, like a child in their own home running around BECAUSE they are at HOME! I do not blame the child one bit, but the adults who were allowing this. I have a business and I do not allow any of my own kids make paying customers feel uncomfortable or ruin the experience. The fact that the adults didn't mind the child to run free at the restaurant baffled me! I was there for about an hour and half with a child screaming the whole time was crazy to me. Imagine a non-family guest/non-owners guest, LIKE ME, who ALLOWED their child TO RUN AROUND MULTIPLE TABLES SCREAMING.... I would be asked to leave, or approached to sit my kid down. I ordered via Uber Eats. This was the closest place that offered under 30 mins. Man, it did not disappoint! I was so surprised at how big these crawfish's were! So far this place takes the W for having the biggest ones so far. I got the full house sauce with medium spice. It was really delicious and flavorful. Found this place in Pico Rivera, so decided to give it a try since it's closer than our main fave, Submarine Crab, and we were not disappointed. It's a medium sized place in a strip mall, which means ample parking. There was no wait, and they can take large parties. Two big birthday parties came in and each got seated right away. You can request gloves for the boils, which you should do especially if you order it hot. Also, compared to most other cajun boil places I've been to around Los Angeles, I have to say that this place probably had the best and most affordable prices of all of them. The kid had the fried butterfly shrimp and cajun fries. The shrimp were a good size and there were plenty of them. The missus got a special they had up. 1/2 lb. of snow crab clusters (1 cluster) plus half a pound of shrimp, with potatoes and corn. She added sausage, which was an entire link sliced up for only like $2.50 extra. Other places usually charge $5 to $7.50 for 3 slices of sausage. She got the sauce that mixes all the flavors and ordered it hot. She said it was hot but comfortably so. Since I like things really spicy and usually order extra hot only to find it is normal spicy at most places, I ordered one pound of shrimp and half a pound of black mussels, with corn, potatoes, and sausage in the same mixed sauce but at heat level XXX hot sauce. The woman hesitated when I ordered, so maybe I should've taken pause. When she brought out my bag, it was clear they had put in a full pound of black mussels even though I was only charged for 1/2 a pound in the end. Lucky me. I ate some of the shrimp and immediately knew I was in a hell ride. The sauce was hotter than fresh ghost pepper sauce I've had. It was at least as hot as California Reaper chilis, and was probably just pure chili oil extract. It was mind-numbingly hot, and as I said I eat spicy foods all the time. I knew I would have to de-shell the shrimp and mussels before eating, because I was going to have to eat this stuff in one go. There would be no chance of stopping and pausing to do that once the heat set in again. The beer did nothing to cool the burn. The corn and potatoes helped a little. I should have kept them out of the sauce in order to better use them to absorb the oil and pain. Now, the flavor of the sauce was pretty good (still not as great as Submarine Crab, but still way better than Boiling Crab or any others around me), and the seafood was fresh and clean. I've seen pics on yelp of unclean shrimp, but I didn't have this problem with mine. But, I am warning you. Be careful no matter how tough you think you are with spicy foods going above regular Hot level. By the time I finished, my face was dripping sweat, I could only breathe out my mouth, and my head was swooning. I seriously wondered if I might faint for a second. If this wasn't the hottest thing I've ever eaten, it was one of them. Luckily, the pain actually did subside in about 10 minutes. I am so glad I brought my own thick gloves to eat, cause if this stuff got in your eyes accidentally by you rubbing them, you'd be blind. I thought about wearing fresh gloves for the drive back just in case anything on my fingers got on the steering wheel. I think you understand how hot this was. I still feel it in my stomach today, even though I did not get sick or anything. Staff was friendly and pretty attentive, even when they had the two large birthday parties come in at the same time and had to deal with the large orders. I couldn't believe when the bill came and all this food and a beer was only $88. My only wish is that they had garlic noodles (They don't. This isn't a Vietnamese cajun place.). TL;DR Not a big fan of Cajun boil, but this spot is pretty good. Good flavors and portion sizes. What We Ordered: Rolled through with the crew after everyone was craving some spicy shrimp. The wife and I split 1.5lbs of shrimp (we had eaten not too long before we stopped by) with all the flavors available mixed together with potatoes and a side of garlic bread. The shrimp still have the head on, if that creeps you out then you should probably order something else. All the flavors mixed, with the medium sauce was pretty tasty. We said we would probably bump up to spicy next time though. The garlic bread was like $2, but it only comes with 2 slices which was a little disappointing. I got there towards the end of the night, so it was mostly empty but what surprised me was the lack of initial customer service. The host/manager of the night had us stand, waiting for her to place a sheet on a table, when there was one already set up. She handed some beers to another table and THEN she grabbed the sheet, placed it on a table and called us over. Not the biggest deal but it's the small things. We had ordered 1lb of Shrimp with everything sauce + mild and it was actually delicious. I could use more garlic but overall, the flavoring was good. We had also ordered Cajun Fries and Clam Chowder. Both were really good! The fries were crispy and they give you a lot, which was really nice. The Clam Chowder was perfect for the cold night. It was chunky, thick, and had good flavoring. I ordered a pound of garlic butter shrimp (mild) and lemon pepper fries. Wait time for the food was about 15 minutes so that was great! The food was quite tasty and the shrimps were pretty big, they peeled easy so they were cooked well. The lemon pepper fries were amazing!! I highly recommend these. House to myself during COVID-19 (7/10/20). Everyone else is anti-seafood or isn't quite old enough to handle tons of spicy food, so what do I order? Cajun-style takeout from Star Crab in Pico Rivera. It's a chain with additional locations currently in Riverside, San Berdoo (hey Black Keys fans) and Upland. Used the GrubHub app to order. Sometimes GrubHub offers promos so you can save like $6 or so per order, but I don't think I had one this time. I chose: The "Favorite" bag boil Snow Crab (extra $7.00) with garlic butter sauce at spicy level = $21.95 2 pieces of corn $2.50 1 sausage $2.25 Total = $28.59 It was good. Decent spice level. Probably should have added potato for a bit more filler as I was a bit hungry still. My wait time was longer than expected. First time visiting today with my family and things could of been better if they improve the service/attentiveness/friendliness. As we came in, the older lady dressed in all black just looked at my wife and asked "what do you need"....Not a welcome or anything. Again as first timers not the best first impression. She then went on to ask if we were there for pick-up, order, or dine in. Once we sat, we scanned the QR code to review the menu and placed our order with a younger lady. Food Overall, the food was good and had a great flavor. We went with shrimp and scallops, fries, chicken strips, and rice. Service This lacked big time. The entire hour we were there no one asked if we needed anything else, another order of drinks, water, etc. I had to flag the staff for water and then again had to get up to ask for our check. The staff primarily hanged out in the back talking instead of being in the front attentive to customers and people coming in for pick-up orders. The older lady has a bad demeanor and attitude. ------------------------------------------ Ownership needs to take a look at the team and make some changes fast.
