Buffet Lovers May Enjoy This One, But It Wasn't Quite Our Flavor Hubby and I were on the hunt for a new spot to try and stumbled upon this Mediterranean buffet while browsing Yelp. First things first -- plenty of parking in the plaza, so no need to circle around hunting for a spot. We arrived around 3:30 PM, and since weekday lunch pricing is $21.99 per person from 11 AM-4 PM, we were pleasantly surprised when the hostess kindly allowed us to stay through the transition until 4:30 PM before dinner pricing kicked in. That was definitely appreciated! The ambience is what you'd expect from a buffet: open, spacious, and filled with plenty of tables for larger groups and families. Now onto the food... One thing I really enjoyed was the impressive selection of appetizers and dips. There were several varieties of hummus including spicy hummus, avocado hummus, baba ghanoush, along with a sauce station featuring tahini, tzatziki, and garlic sauce. If you're a dip-and-spread person, you'll probably be pretty happy here. They also had multiple rice options and a variety of proteins. Most of the selections consisted of different styles of chicken, along with fried fish and grilled fish. I believe the lamb shank is only offered during dinner service or on weekends, so unfortunately we missed out on that. As for the food itself, this is where the experience became a little mixed for us. While there were certainly a lot of choices, many of the dishes felt surprisingly similar, and overall the food lacked the bold Mediterranean flavors we were hoping for. Most items were fairly mild and a bit bland for our taste. Nothing tasted bad, but very little stood out enough to make us want to go back for seconds. For dessert, they offered baklava, pistachio rice pudding, and a few other sweet treats, which was a nice way to end the meal. Service, however, was excellent. Everyone we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, so I'd easily give the service 5/5 stars. Overall, I landed at 3 out of 5 stars. I appreciate the buffet concept, the variety, and the wonderful service, but for hubby and me, flavor is king. Unfortunately, the food just didn't have enough seasoning or wow factor to make us want to return for a second visit. As a buffet, I consider Dimassi's in Cerritos a game changer. This is a Mediterranean themed buffet that's only $22 before 4pm on Monday through Friday. For dinner on the weekdays it's only a few dollars more ($29). On weekends it's $33 all day. I mention the price because I consider it a no-brainer for a weekday lunch. I agree with the criticism that the protein options can be limited. You aren't going to be getting filet mignon kabobs for lunch. But their chicken options, their fried fish filet, and their gyro meat is not bad. If you are looking for the premium kabobs, there are many Mediterranean options in the area that you can get that. What makes this place truly worth it are their delicious salad options, their warm, house made pita bread, their abundant options of spreads (hummus, baba ghanoush, garlic sauce). The multiple options for mediterranean salads are really what I crave from here. For $22, if I can have a multi course meal featuring 4-5 types of refreshing salads, fish filet, warm pita with hummus, a gyro (assembled on your own with their ingredients), a soft drink, and baklava. Considering the fact that I spend $16 on a combo meal at Carl's Jr or a salad wrap at Sweetgreen, this is truly a no brainer. If you do come here for dinner ($29-33), know that you can special order their braised lamb shank. I like to eat this with the pita bread, some roasted veggies, and one of their delicious spreads, but you do what you like. read more

For a buffet, the price didn't seem too expensive at first, but after eating, I didn't necessarily feel like it was an amazing value for what I had. To be fair, I went on a weekend, so I paid the highest price. I could see this place being a much better value during weekday lunch. The inside was very clean, which I appreciated. One thing that felt a little awkward was the service setup. There didn't really seem to be servers inside, and you pay when you leave, so I wasn't completely sure how much tip made sense. I noticed they even had a 10% tip option, so I'm guessing they know the setup can feel a little unclear. The food overall was clean and decent. It felt like they had pretty much everything you would expect from an American-style Mediterranean/Middle Eastern buffet. Nothing really stood out as especially amazing, but there was a good variety, and most of the food gave me that "this is probably healthy" feeling. This was our first time at DiMassi's. Our Bank Manager in Huntington Beach who is also a foodie recommended this back in August and we finally got to visit. This is Cafeteria style so upon entry find a table in either dining area and then head to the line grabbing a tray and making your way down the assorted goodies. Really good choice of Mediterranean cuisine with kabobs, four types of chicken including the delicious and off the bone DiMassi's special roast chicken; three different hummus options, pita bread being made fresh in front of you and baklava and two other desserts. The Tabouleh and salads were really good. Love that they had coffee and sodas included in the price. The lady at the front who was the greeter, Manager and cashier was tremendous as was the sweet lady inside picking up the stacks of dishes. This would have been a five star experience but for the fact that mass produced dishes here including the rice, the kabobs, the hummus, even the baklava tasted just standard and not stand out. The exceptional exceptions were the DiMassi's chicken and the Tabouleh. It was $23.50 for lunch which was not bad as drinks and dessert were included. Lots of parking in the front. Great food quality for the price - their lunch pricing at $21.99 is quite a deal. Dinner at $28.99 is also great too. In addition, at dinner only, each person can order one lamb shank - just this piece of meat alone is worth your $28.99 visit. The restaurant food section is maintained very cleanly, food is beautifully displayed for a self-serve buffet restaurant. Plenty of seating area with ability to accommodate larger parties, and feels family friendly. The only shortcoming they have is that their fruit section tastes consistently unappealing, and some of the desserts don't tastes too great either. But at least their main dishes taste good. This was the first time I ate at this establishment. I brought my mother and we had evening rations. This establishment is an all you can eat buffet. Well almost because at least for evening rations, one portion of lamb shanks is included in the price and additional portions of lamb shanks are available at 14.95$ each per person. The price is based on the exit time so if someone enters when the lower midday price is in effect and leaves after the change to evening pricing, the higher evening price is charged. I had pita bread, fried chicken, fried tilapia, a slice of cheese pizza, some lamb gyro strips and a slice of beef lasagna. That food was good but not wonderful. I was not real happy that some of the food items at the buffet had onions as I am allergic to onions. I am deducting a half point due to the onions. For seconds I requested and got the portion of lamb shank. That was wonderful. Drinks were included and I had "wooder" and Orange Fanta. Drink station was self serve. I was disappointed that Pepsi was not available. I am deducting a half point due to lack of Pepsi available. Men's washroom was clean and had paper towels available... good. I have a bone to pick concerning the personal appearance of the guys working at this establishment. I am glad they wore t shirts but I noticed that the guyd all failed to tuck their shirts in. I consider that to be highly unprofessional and I think that they looked like slobs. This is something I am OCD about. I believe it ought to be compulsory for guys to tuck their shirts in under ordinary circumstances so I am deducting one point. I have always wanted to try this place as soon as I heard about them opening up, but it was always packed! The room where the buffet was pretty warm compared to the side room where it was absolutely FREEZING. The inside and the buffet was also really clean, the white LEDs add such a modern look. The restrooms are GORGEOUS. There are so many options of fresh salads, meats, rice, hummus, you name it! I first loaded up a lot on the fresh salad and hummus options. My absolute FAVORITE was the roasted vegetables towards the end of the buffet line. I love to grab a little bit of everything on my plate as I am an absolute foodie and love to try new things. The lamb shank is a MUST. You get 1 included in your buffet, and have to pay an additional $14.99 if you would like another. So much meat on the bone and the meat was SO tender! The desserts had a minimal options, which most of them had a rose water/rose taste, which is not my personal preference as they are too strong in floral flavor for me. So many good options here and there's something for everyone! Whether its fall off the bone chicken, tender beef, fresh veggies, and a variety of sauces and dips to complement them! We came here right before the Saturday dinner rush around 5:30 PM and it was honestly the perfect timing! Everything was fully stocked and beautifully displayed, which made the whole buffet experience feel fresh and inviting. They had an impressive variety of hummus flavors, so creamy and well seasoned! My friend and I used to go to Dimassi's religiously in Cerritos until they opened up a location closer to home. I came here recently for a birthday celebration, and I'm happy to see they've maintained the quality of their food. The restaurant is pretty big with plenty of seating options. In terms of service, there are workers consistently going around bussing your dishes and table, and bringing out more food. It's located in a large shopping plaza so parking is also no issue. I really enjoy the food here. They have plenty of salads, dips (3 types of hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki, garlic sauce, etc.), rice mixed with different things, soups, fresh pita, kebabs, dolma, other marinated meats, and more. I'm a BIG fan of the cauliflower, eggplant, garlic sauce, fried fish, marinated chicken (in tomato sauce), and the arugula salad. I have noticed that the fried options like fish and chicken can vary in terms of quality, and the kebabs are a bit on the drier side. In terms of variety, it's primarily Mediterranean dishes/dips/salads, not surprisingly, but there are options for the picky eaters out there like pizza, lasagna, and fried chicken. It doesn't have as much variety compared to an Asian buffet, but the options are still relatively diverse and (in my opinion) are higher quality. That is to say it is on the pricier side (weekends: ~$36+), so if you don't have a big appetite, it's probably more cost-effective to go to a regular Mediterranean restaurant and order single dishes. They used to offer rose water but they got rid of the it a few years back and sadly I did not see it resurfaced this time around. It's also set up cafeteria style which is not ideal when things get busy, often times there are lines of people building and waiting for the person in front of them OR new food to come out. This is especially true when people are waiting in the middle for the lamb shank. read more

It's a reasonably priced, healthier lunch option for individuals, couples, or groups. Great if you're trying to get more greens into your diet while still having plenty of choices for proteins and different carbs. The price includes beverages. I'm not a big soda fan, but they also offer regular and decaf coffee, plus tea. (If you're someone who lives or work around this area and often eat out, this is probably a great place to come at least once a week to load up on all the bright greens that are much needed.) Try the different hummus flavors -- I like the spicy hummus, or I'll mix it with the avocado spread. The staff is easygoing, the dining area stays clean, and there was ample parking during lunch both times I've visited. Men's restroom: overall it was decently clean, but the urinal stall was broken and still inoperable. Not ideal for any public restroom. I often mention in my restaurant reviews that bathrooms can reflect the kitchen and how detail-oriented management is. The lamb shank was was delicious and tender. If you want the lamb shank you have to press a bell and they bring it out to you. I have to drive a couple hours to get to this buffet, I have been here 3 times now. They have been consistent each time. The food if decent, I like the salads, fresh breads and the hummus mostly. The rest is just okay. They have a self serve drink station that is included. My dislikes: they are not quick to refill silverware or ice so sometimes you have to wait a while for those items. They don't come around often to clear plates from the tables and the desserts could be better or have more to choose from. Overall though, if you've never been, it's great for those that are curious, but not worth driving a couple hours for. The restaurant inside is also very large. There are probably at least 40-50 items to choose from and as much as I tried to sample every single item, my stomach was completely full after 3 plates. I have always wanted to try this place out but my fam bam is not inter Mediterranean. This past Sunday, I was finally able to enjoy this with a high school friend. The establishment is super clean and there are no strong food smells as you enter in. They let us choose our own seats and off to the buffet line we went. The plastic plates did not stick like Asian restaurants and the food display was simply amazing. Beautiful. Healthy. Flavored just right. The layout of the veggies first. Bread and soup in the middle and then meats at the end along with sodas and dessert was great. If you desired just a specific item, it was convenient to find in each section. Usually buffets are stingy on the meat. This place is bee generous and there wasn't ever an empty tray. I take it back, the garlic paste thing was usually running low. I'd probably give this place a 3.5! The prices were higher than expected. We spent almost 80$ for two people not sure how when the price for Fridays online is 32? For the cost I think I'd rather something different for AYCE but honestly everything was good and authentic. Had high hopes for lamb shank but it ended up being a little bland. Granted the meat was falling off the bone! My partner is Palestinian and did feel like things here tasted very authentic. Desert is not something I'd recommend here. For most of the dinner we sat surrounded by the plates we had eaten on as well which wasn't pleasant. Otherwise this is a no frills type Mediterranean AYCE! Definitely unique. We came here exicted about the food but it was kind if disappointing. The only thing we trully enjoy was the lamb shank and grilled chicken. The flavors were OK but there are very few options for meat. Mostly chicken (grilled chix, chix kebab, sumac chicken) 1 tilapia, 1 shaved lamb (very dry and salty) and beef meatballs. That's it.
