Been coming to Panda Inn for many years now. I've been to I wanna say 3 different ones. This one is the closest to me so I come here more than the others. This is our go to spot for friends gatherings or family bdays or I'm just hungry and want some good food. The waiters are always helpful and attentive. The food is so good also. Highly recommend this place.
4.5/5 The food here is pretty solid. Service is awesome here, automatic 18% for large party but we felt well taken care of. Nice restaurant for a birthday celebration. Honey walnut shrimp 5/5 (my favorite!!) Crispy calamari 5/5, so good! Super light batter. Best I've had in a while. Lobster crispy noodles 4.75/5, few lobster pieces but the sauce and crispy noodle was good. I would get the crispy noodles next time without the lobster . Green beans 4/5, Fried rice 4/5 Beef tenderloin 5/5 but high price point Orange chicken 4/5 Sweet and sour pork 4/5 Hot and sour soup 5/5, has a nice kick
We had such a great experience at Panda Inn, and Sung made our visit even better! He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our entire meal. His service was amazing, and he really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. He even took the time to recommend a beautiful beach for us to visit while we're in the area, which we really appreciated! Thank you, Sung, for the amazing service and hospitality. We'll definitely be back!
One of my biggest pet peeves is not being seated at my reservation time. We had reserved a table for 5 last Sunday at 1:15pm. But even though we had a reservation, we found ourselves unwilling members of a hungry, irritated crowd of people standing in the lobby of Panda Inn, waiting for our table on Father's Day. We were not seated until 2pm, 45 minutes past our reservation time. Honestly, what is the point of having reservations if the restaurant is not able to honor them? I found my first experience at Panda Inn very irritating and unprofessional. The atmosphere of the restaurant feels a bit dated. The inside of the building almost seems like the inside of a church, with high ceilings and stained glass. The food was on the bland side. The salt and pepper calamari was underseasoned, lacking both salt and pepper. The crab wontons were actually quite good. I liked how plump they were. An order only comes with 4, so we had to order 2 portions to have enough for our party of 5. The orange chicken had a nice crisp to it but did not blow me away. Neither did the honey walnut shrimp. The lo mein was underseasoned. The beef fried rice was underseasoned and mushy. The beef did not taste like it was high quality. My favorite thing that I had was steamed white rice with soy sauce. That's not a compliment, by the way. I'm not sure if the subpar food and service was because of the Father's day rush, but I definitely did not feel much of an urge to return. I unironically would rather go to Panda Express. At least I would be served on time.
While Panda Express should be more than a little familiar to anyone that has eaten at mall food courts before, what might not be as well known is that it was actually started as a fast food/to-go offshoot of Panda Inn, which was founded about a decade before. So, being that I've been of Panda Express ever since I was a kid, how could I not be curious about the restaurant that started it all? Especially after hearing that their famed Orange Chicken was supposed to be even tastier here! Compared to the photos of how their other locations look, this Panda Inn feels a bit worn and dated (like it's from the 90's). However, that's not to say this place is awful or lacking - they have a small lobby area with some nice benches for folks who are waiting for their table, a chill bar section, and a decent amount of seating inside for groups large or small. As for the menu, It's pretty in line with what you'd see at your average Chinese restaurant (starters, soups, stir-fried dishes, noodle dishes, fried rice, seafood, poultry, beef, pork, vegetarian, etc.) and, not surprisingly, includes pretty much all of the same dishes that Panda Express has to offer. -- RASPBERRY LEMONADE This didn't taste quite as "fresh" as we had imagined, but it was still refreshing enough. If nothing else, it had a nice raspberry taste to it and didn't seem too sweet. -- GINGER ALE So much better than the likes of Canada Dry or Seagram's. The taste of ginger in this was sharp with a slight bite that I liked. -- ORANGE CHICKEN - Crispy Breaded Chicken and Baby Corn in Spicy Orange Sauce If you thought their Panda Express version was good, it's true - this one is EVEN BETTER! The batter was crispier and not too thick, the chicken was moist, and the sauce, while slightly sweet, had a slight kick to it that I really liked. Delicious! -- SHRIMP IN GARLIC SAUCE - Shrimp, Snow Peas, Zucchini, Red Bell Peppers, and Water Chestnuts in Garlic Sauce This wasn't bad, but it was definitely my least favorite dish. Although the shrimp were cooked well, I didn't care much for the garlic sauce, which had a bit of kick (good) and a sort of tang to it (not so good). -- BRAISED STRING BEANS with Fresh Garlic in Shao Xing Wine Sauce More solid than spectacular, but not too shabby. While I wish this had a bit of spice or stronger seasoning to it (like XO sauce), I love that the string beans were blistered yet not overcooked, as they still had some bite to them. -- ASSORTED CHOW FUN - Rice Noodles, Shiitake Mushrooms, Baby Bok Choy, and Fresh Ginger in Mushroom Sauce with Beef, Chicken, Pork, Shrimp, and Vegetables Admittedly, I wasn't expecting much out of this one, but it was actually really good! The noodles had a nice chew to them and there was a fair amount of meat/seafood in this. A larger portion/more noodles also would've been nice, but this was great otherwise. Beyond the dishes that we tried, the two other highlights of our visit were our server and the white chocolate covered fortune cookies that came at the end of our meal. The former was really attentive, checking on us throughout our meal, and just super sweet. Ironically, and quite fortunately, that last part can't be said for the fortune cookies, which tasted so good and weren't overly sugary or rich like I feared they'd be. Since they offer so many of the same dishes, folks aren't wrong to say that you can get the same thing for less at Panda Express. However, that's an oversimplification since you're not getting the same thing. In short, those same dishes just taste so much better here, as it makes a huge difference that they're made-to-order in smaller portions versus in large batches and scooped out of a tray. For that reason alone (and the fortune cookies), making the trip to check out the restaurant that spawned Panda Express is absolutely worth it!

Ate here for lunch with my siblings and significant others. We ordered the orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, upside down crispy noodles, and egg drop soup. Everything was amazing! The chicken was kinda underwhelming but it still hit the spot. Everyone loved the crispiness of the honey walnut shrimp too. at the end, we found out our server put "less spicy" for the orange chicken for whatever reason which explained why it was so underwhelming. We hope to return and try the orange chicken for what it is!
The food tasted really good. Service was definitely not the best my drink was empty for a while. As well as we had to wait a long time for our food. The restaurant had some really cool theming and made me ready to eat some Chinese food. A couple hours afterward my party and me got really sick. It did have a nice ending they gave you chocolate covered fortune cookies.
Wowwww I did not expect to LOVE it! Can't believe I didn't come here earlier! Inside is clean and well kept gives you a fine dining experience. Their tables are covered with table cloth! Employees are attentive and even the manager checks on customers waiting to order for take out asking if they have been helped. They have regular and family sizes for most of their dishes. For a party of five we got five dishes regular size and it was plenty. They also give you rice which is a plus! Lastly, their white chocolate dipped fortune cookie is a great surprise as well! Will definitely be back!

Our servers were attentive the entire time without being overbearing. The atmosphere felt very family-oriented with nice white tablecloths, giving it that classic, comfortable dining vibe. We ordered the shrimp fried rice and kung pao shrimp, and both were delicious with generous portions--we even had leftovers for the next day. I also tried the cherry blossom drink, which was a perfect, refreshing touch. Overall, everything from the food to the service made this such an enjoyable visit. Definitely coming back!
Had a great experience at Panda Inn! The food was savory and satisfying--especially the honey walnut shrimp, which was perfectly prepared with a crisp exterior and just the right size. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. This spot always feels festive--it's clearly a go-to for celebrations, including my own family's birthdays. We were even able to get semi-private seating this evening, which made the experience feel extra special. Service is usually good. Food was served quickly even although they were busy. Oh and their fortune cookie was dipped in white chocolate which was delish. Definitely a place we'll keep coming back to again and again!
I've dined here a few times, and the food is always good. This restaurant is a sit-down fancier version of Panda Express in my opinion. The food is definitely more Americanized Chinese food, but still really good!! Our most recent visit, we went on a Saturday night around 6:15 pm. It was pretty busy with people waiting outside the restaurant. However, the wait wasn't too bad. We waited around 30 minutes to get seated (Party of 4). After we were seated, it took another 30 minutes for the server to take our order, which wasn't the greatest experience, but I understood because it was busy. We ordered the Three Flavors Sizzling Rice soup, Chow Fun, Beef with Oyster Sauce, and Sweet and Pungent Shrimp. The food took quite a while to come out (45+ minutes -- it was almost 8:30 by the time the food came out), at a certain point I thought they had forgotten about our order, but they gave us egg rolls on the house as an apology. The food itself was amazing. The sizzling rice soup came out first, and since we ordered a bowl of it, the server poured it into four small bowls for each person in the party. It was good, and the chunks of chicken in it were flavored well. The chow fun was solid too, and had a good amount of chicken in it. The beef with oyster sauce was DELICIOUS. The beef was so juicy and marinated in oyster sauce perfectly. The snow peas were so crunchy and satisfying to eat alongside the beef. It had a generous amount of mushrooms and bamboo shoots as well which brought the whole dish together. Lastly, the sweet and pungent shrimp was my favorite dish. The breading was so perfectly crispy, yet coated in the sauce well. The flavor of the shrimp itself was sweet, spicy, and tangy. It is garnished with szechuan pepper flakes, but it isn't too spicy at all. Overall, I'd definitely return. The service is good, I'm not sure what happened for the food to take so long this visit , but it was the first time I'd experienced this in the few times I've been here. The food itself is always top quality and I always leave with leftovers!

My experience at panda inn surpassed my expectations. I only recently became a fan of Panda Express, so I was super excited to find out that they had a sit down version! The interior was absolutely beautiful, huge restaurant and each room was meticulously decorated. I really appreciated all the panda themed frosted glass. My partner and I arrived for a late lunch so it wasn't too crowded. We got seated right away and was taken care of by a wonderful woman. Everyone had very positive and polite attitude. As for the food, the portions were HUGE! This is definitely not a spot to come alone to unless you plan on taking out over half your order to go. There were all the options from Panda Express and more on the menu, which made me feel like I had to come back and try all the other options. Most of the selection looked to be the typical Americanized Chinese food you'd expect. We ordered the upside down fried noodles, orange chicken, and panda beef. All the food had a similar taste to express, so no huge surprise there. The textures of the batter was definitely a bit different but still delicious. I'd definitely recommend checking this spot out if you're a fan of Panda Express! read more

Today we decided to stop by Panda Inn before heading to Knott's with the family, and honestly it was the perfect way to kick off our day. I had been here before, but last time my daughter was way too young (and wild lol) for us to really enjoy a sit-down dinner. Fast forward to today -- she's 4 now, my son is 2 -- and we actually got to have a peaceful family meal. We arrived early enough to grab a booth, which already made things easier with the kids. We started off with the Honey Walnut Shrimp and they were amazing -- not overly sweet and had just the right amount of crunch. We also ordered the Beef and Broccoli, which is one of those dishes that's usually good anywhere, but here it just felt more elevated and flavorful. We went with the fried rice and chow mein combination that comes loaded with meats, and also added the Kung Pao Shrimp which had a ton of flavor and a really nice savory kick. The biggest win though? I drive by Panda Inn all the time and finally decided to give it a try. My boyfriend and I arrived on a Saturday evening, and although the parking lot was packed, we were seated immediately at a booth with no wait. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. No one came by to take our drink or food order for nearly ten minutes. A family seated after us received prompt service, which made the delay even more noticeable. The couple behind us complained and asked not to be served by the same waitress, but we decided to take our chances. That was a mistake. We ordered shrimp fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, orange chicken. Rice and orange chicken arrived lukewarm. The shrimp had not been cleaned properly and still had fecal matter attached, which was disgusting. My boyfriend refused to eat any of it out of fear of food poisoning, and I didn't eat mine either. We decided to trash the entire meal. The server never checked on us, despite passing our table multiple times. We eventually had to stop her just to ask for the bill. I never asked for the waitress name but on the receipt, it says employee team 8. Overall, this was a one-and-done experience for us. The food was nasty and the service was even worse. We won't be returning, nor would we recommend this location to anyone. read more

Panda Inn is absolutely one of the finest Chinese restaurants around. You will never have a bad meal here and you will have enough food to last you for two days. Dining here is always a pleasure and a treat! Starters I've had include: Cucumber Salad, Minced Chicken Lettuce Cups, Vegetable Egg Rolls, Potstickers, Chicken Corn Egg Drop Soup, and Crispy Calamari. Of those, my top three selections would be the Lettuce Cups, Calamari, and Egg Drop Soup. The savory, crunchy textures accompanied by their respective dipping sauces are an excellent way to start a meal. Finishing off the crunch with a soft soup whets the palate so nicely! Entrees I've had include: Three Cups Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Orange Chicken, Cashew Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Crispy Garlic Chicken, and Chicken in Garlic Sauce. Of those items, my top three picks would be: Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken in Garlic Sauce, and Orange Chicken. The Kung Pao is hands-down some of the best you will ever taste. From the crunchy toasted peanuts to the savory garlic sauce, this dish is perfectly finished off by the grill-like flavor of charred chicken. Perfection! Noodle and rice dishes I've had include: Upside Down Crispy Noodles, Fried Rice, Chicken Lo Mein, and Steamed Rice. Of those items, the Chicken Lo Mein is the ultimate contender. The balance of soy, chicken, crispy vegetables, thick noodles, and garlic well perfectly complement any dish that you order. Not to mention that the thickness of these noodles will certainly fill you up rather quickly. The restaurant staff are always very professional and cordial. They make sure that you are comfortable, especially if you are ordering takeout. There has only been one instance where two items were accidentally forgotten, so they are pretty accurate here for the most part getting takeout orders correct. As for the interior space, it is a very odd blend of 1980s Postmodernism with traditional Chinese porcelain and bronze artworks and furnishings. Despite its age, the facilities here are always clean and the space is well air-conditioned. I will always recommend Panda Inn for any Chinese cuisine cravings! read more

10+ years ago when I worked in Bellflower, I was aware that Panda Inn was the OG Panda Express. I always thought of picking it up to bring home for dinner, but never did. Then I stopped working out that way and forgot all about it. Husband recently watched a YouTuber reviewing local Chinese restaurants and was excited about this place, so we decided to come for lunch ASAP. So glad we did! We got there right when they opened, no wait, super fast service. Everybody here is so happy and friendly! Hubs ordered their Maple Old Fashioned and really liked it. I stuck with plain iced tea and it was tasty. For lunch we got an order of Veggie Eggrolls, Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken, and Shrimp Fried Rice. Everything was excellent! Great quality meat, fresh veggies, large portions, and very flavorful. After tip this was a $100 lunch, which is a bit much, but we were able to eat the leftovers for lunch for 2 more days, so it was worth it to me. We made reservations for a party of 17. Everything went well. The only thing is the tables. We sat at circular so the whole party couldn't sit together at the same table. Our server was really nice and even sing happy birthday with us. As he can see the pictures I posted up we ordered so much food to be honest even the regular size plates. What if sufficed. Serving a focused menu of classic Chinese Mandarin dishes, Panda Inn in La Palma served food as good as my family was hoping for, with service that exceeded my expectations. The Panda brand got created in 1973 in Pasadena as a local Chinese restaurant serving Mandarin dishes, catered to American tastes. It then became the first Chinese fast food chain, opening the first Panda Express as a mall food court restaurant in 1983 in Glendale, serving up prepared food kept warm on steam tables. Growing up in the Midwest, I was shocked at how popular Panda Express is in California across various groups. And I'd come to appreciate how easy it was to stop in for take-home dinner after work, if Chinese food was the choice. The food was almost always pretty mediocre, but felt if I could get lucky to get food right after it was prepared, it would be a lot better. So decided to go to the nearest OG to see what it would taste like prepared to order. We came about 15 minutes after it opened on a Saturday and it was already quite busy. The parking lot has a lot of spots, so would assume it would get full due to the popularity of the restaurant. Inside seating is varied, and the three of us got a circular booth. This location opened in 1989, making it over 35 years old, but it still looked very well maintained and elegant inside. I had signed up for their loyalty club beforehand, which gave us a free order of mini pork dumplings. I wanted to order enough food to sample what they are famous for, wanting to take home leftovers. Homemade mini pork dumplings ($10 for ten pieces) - boiled dumplings, served on top of a dashi soy sauce. It was good, great texture on the meatballs. Three Flavors Sizzling Rice Soup ($14, enough for 4 small bowls). Came with plenty of seafood (bay scallops and large shrimp). The chicken broth was very light, OK but not great. Orange Chicken ($20) - tasted like Panda Express, except they included baby corn, which went great with the dish. Good for folks who don't mind a lot of crispy batter...because it was served immediately after prep, it tasted really good dining-in (confirmed the taste went down significantly after bringing it home). Honey Walnut Shrimp ($26.50) - jumbo shrimp, lightly battered and doused in a sweet mayo based sauce, topped with honeyed walnuts. A classic American Chinese dish, well executed here with quality ingredients. Upside Down Crispy Noodles with choice of shrimp ($20) - a clear winner, this dish is something I've not found at other menus in Southern California. They use egg noodle 'bricks' that are deep fried in-house with the noodles being very thin...it's almost like instant ramen noodles. It then mixed together with the other ingredients table-side. They give plenty of vegetables and protein, with the entire portion being quite large...we only made a dent in it. Our server, Jesus, was excellent: accurate, timely, and friendly while doing tableside work like dividing up the soup into bowls and preparing the upside down noodles tableside. I learned from him that many things (but not all) on the menu are made from scratch on-site. I confirmed that the breaded chicken chunks from the Orange Chicken is premade (tasted just like what you would get at a Panda Express), but that the same sauce is used on the Phoenix Chicken dish (which uses house breaded white meat chicken). Will absolutely get that next time if somebody in the party wants Orange Chicken. Oh yeah...the fortune cookies at the end of the meal were unique: individually wrapped, white chocolate dipped. There is something to longevity in the restaurant business...restaurants that survive (and thrive) this long give people what they are looking for: great tasting food in a comfortable environment with great service. Panda Inn does that very very well. read more
