Assorted Chow Fun with Rice Noodles, Shiitake Mushrooms, Baby Bok Choy, Beef, Chicken, Pork, Shrimp and Vegetables

While Panda Express should be more than a little familiar to anyone that has eaten at mall food courts before, what might not be as well known is that it was actually started as a fast food/to-go offshoot of Panda Inn, which was founded about a decade before. So, being that I've been of Panda Express ever since I was a kid, how could I not be curious about the restaurant that started it all? Especially after hearing that their famed Orange Chicken was supposed to be even tastier here! Compared to the photos of how their other locations look, this Panda Inn feels a bit worn and dated (like it's from the 90's). However, that's not to say this place is awful or lacking - they have a small lobby area with some nice benches for folks who are waiting for their table, a chill bar section, and a decent amount of seating inside for groups large or small. As for the menu, It's pretty in line with what you'd see at your average Chinese restaurant (starters, soups, stir-fried dishes, noodle dishes, fried rice, seafood, poultry, beef, pork, vegetarian, etc.) and, not surprisingly, includes pretty much all of the same dishes that Panda Express has to offer. -- RASPBERRY LEMONADE This didn't taste quite as "fresh" as we had imagined, but it was still refreshing enough. If nothing else, it had a nice raspberry taste to it and didn't seem too sweet. -- GINGER ALE So much better than the likes of Canada Dry or Seagram's. The taste of ginger in this was sharp with a slight bite that I liked. -- ORANGE CHICKEN - Crispy Breaded Chicken and Baby Corn in Spicy Orange Sauce If you thought their Panda Express version was good, it's true - this one is EVEN BETTER! The batter was crispier and not too thick, the chicken was moist, and the sauce, while slightly sweet, had a slight kick to it that I really liked. Delicious! -- SHRIMP IN GARLIC SAUCE - Shrimp, Snow Peas, Zucchini, Red Bell Peppers, and Water Chestnuts in Garlic Sauce This wasn't bad, but it was definitely my least favorite dish. Although the shrimp were cooked well, I didn't care much for the garlic sauce, which had a bit of kick (good) and a sort of tang to it (not so good). -- BRAISED STRING BEANS with Fresh Garlic in Shao Xing Wine Sauce More solid than spectacular, but not too shabby. While I wish this had a bit of spice or stronger seasoning to it (like XO sauce), I love that the string beans were blistered yet not overcooked, as they still had some bite to them. -- ASSORTED CHOW FUN - Rice Noodles, Shiitake Mushrooms, Baby Bok Choy, and Fresh Ginger in Mushroom Sauce with Beef, Chicken, Pork, Shrimp, and Vegetables Admittedly, I wasn't expecting much out of this one, but it was actually really good! The noodles had a nice chew to them and there was a fair amount of meat/seafood in this. A larger portion/more noodles also would've been nice, but this was great otherwise. Beyond the dishes that we tried, the two other highlights of our visit were our server and the white chocolate covered fortune cookies that came at the end of our meal. The former was really attentive, checking on us throughout our meal, and just super sweet. Ironically, and quite fortunately, that last part can't be said for the fortune cookies, which tasted so good and weren't overly sugary or rich like I feared they'd be. Since they offer so many of the same dishes, folks aren't wrong to say that you can get the same thing for less at Panda Express. However, that's an oversimplification since you're not getting the same thing. In short, those same dishes just taste so much better here, as it makes a huge difference that they're made-to-order in smaller portions versus in large batches and scooped out of a tray. For that reason alone (and the fortune cookies), making the trip to check out the restaurant that spawned Panda Express is absolutely worth it!

Ate here for lunch with my siblings and significant others. We ordered the orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, upside down crispy noodles, and egg drop soup. Everything was amazing! The chicken was kinda underwhelming but it still hit the spot. Everyone loved the crispiness of the honey walnut shrimp too. at the end, we found out our server put "less spicy" for the orange chicken for whatever reason which explained why it was so underwhelming. We hope to return and try the orange chicken for what it is!

Wowwww I did not expect to LOVE it! Can't believe I didn't come here earlier! Inside is clean and well kept gives you a fine dining experience. Their tables are covered with table cloth! Employees are attentive and even the manager checks on customers waiting to order for take out asking if they have been helped. They have regular and family sizes for most of their dishes. For a party of five we got five dishes regular size and it was plenty. They also give you rice which is a plus! Lastly, their white chocolate dipped fortune cookie is a great surprise as well! Will definitely be back!

Had such a great experience at Panda Inn on Easter Day. We came in as a party of two and were seated within five minutes, which was amazing for a holiday. Our servers were attentive the entire time without being overbearing. The atmosphere felt very family-oriented with nice white tablecloths, giving it that classic, comfortable dining vibe. We ordered the shrimp fried rice and kung pao shrimp, and both were delicious with generous portions--we even had leftovers for the next day. I also tried the cherry blossom drink, which was a perfect, refreshing touch. Overall, everything from the food to the service made this such an enjoyable visit. Definitely coming back!

Had a great experience at Panda Inn! The food was savory and satisfying--especially the honey walnut shrimp, which was perfectly prepared with a crisp exterior and just the right size. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. This spot always feels festive--it's clearly a go-to for celebrations, including my own family's birthdays. We were even able to get semi-private seating this evening, which made the experience feel extra special. Service is usually good. Food was served quickly even although they were busy. Oh and their fortune cookie was dipped in white chocolate which was delish. Definitely a place we'll keep coming back to again and again!

Along with the food, the employees of Panda Inn are excellent! The food was amazing as always. The Honey Walnut Shrimp & Orange Chicken were delicious, truly one of a kind! The restaurant was spotless, and the service was impeccable. We were warmly greeted at the door and promptly seated, eliminating any wait time. Our host, Bobbi, was absolutely fantastic! She provided impeccable service and very attentive. She was friendly, helpful, and connected with my family. She truly stood out as one of a kind!

This is our third time coming to this establishment. The food consistency is always the same and just delicious!! The lo-mein , the fried rice, the panda in special and the orange chicken are a must have 10/10! We were served by Adeline who greeted us with a smile and great service! She went above and beyond for us! Thank you for this Sunday lunch in.

Not sure if this is true but I was told this is the original Panda Express or the fancy Panda. True or not, the food was great. The service was also great.

Went for quick dinner. This time food was a bit dry. The rice was dry and was not upto the average standard that I am used to at this place. Also there was less people serving. The crowd has changed and environment abit low.

We made reservations for a party of 17. Everything went well. The only thing is the tables. We sat at circular so the whole party couldn't sit together at the same table. Our server was really nice and even sing happy birthday with us. As he can see the pictures I posted up we ordered so much food to be honest even the regular size plates. What if sufficed. Food was delicious. Definitely would go back for another family function.

My kid and his friend were super excited to find this place because we are all the biggest Panda express fans. BTW, my kid is 10 and he and his buddy lost their minds when the discovered there was a fancy panda express and the food was amazing. We ordered the garlic noodles, chicken lo mein, king pao chicken and beef and broccoli and orange chicken. The boys said the orange chicken was the best they ever had. Wish this place was closer because we all want to go back. Super fast and reasonably priced too.

My experience at panda inn surpassed my expectations. I only recently became a fan of Panda Express, so I was super excited to find out that they had a sit down version! The interior was absolutely beautiful, huge restaurant and each room was meticulously decorated. I really appreciated all the panda themed frosted glass. My partner and I arrived for a late lunch so it wasn't too crowded. We got seated right away and was taken care of by a wonderful woman. Everyone had very positive and polite attitude. As for the food, the portions were HUGE! This is definitely not a spot to come alone to unless you plan on taking out over half your order to go. There were all the options from Panda Express and more on the menu, which made me feel like I had to come back and try all the other options. Most of the selection looked to be the typical Americanized Chinese food you'd expect. We ordered the upside down fried noodles, orange chicken, and panda beef. All the food had a similar taste to express, so no huge surprise there. The textures of the batter was definitely a bit different but still delicious. I'd definitely recommend checking this spot out if you're a fan of Panda Express!

Today we decided to stop by Panda Inn before heading to Knott's with the family, and honestly it was the perfect way to kick off our day. I had been here before, but last time my daughter was way too young (and wild lol) for us to really enjoy a sit-down dinner. Fast forward to today -- she's 4 now, my son is 2 -- and we actually got to have a peaceful family meal. We arrived early enough to grab a booth, which already made things easier with the kids. We started off with the Honey Walnut Shrimp and they were amazing -- not overly sweet and had just the right amount of crunch. We also ordered the Beef and Broccoli, which is one of those dishes that's usually good anywhere, but here it just felt more elevated and flavorful. We went with the fried rice and chow mein combination that comes loaded with meats, and also added the Kung Pao Shrimp which had a ton of flavor and a really nice savory kick. The biggest win though? The table was quiet for a solid 15 minutes... which if you're a parent, you know means the kids were actually enjoying their food. My daughter kept it simple with white rice and was locked in. Valentine's brunch for us is family style now, and we couldn't complain one bit. My wife and I both love Asian food and she truly enjoyed her meal. This visit honestly made me realize Panda Inn walked so Panda Express could run. They also give you these white chocolate dipped fortune cookies at the end which were fire. Great spot for a family meal -- next time we're bringing a bigger group so we can order more and share more.

I absolutely loved the crispy bottom layer because it added such a satisfying crunch to every bite. The inside stayed really juicy and flavorful with a good balance of pork, shrimp, and chives. The Juicy Pork Dumplings had soup inside, which was rich and savory. I've had soup dumplings before where the wrapper breaks apart too easily, but these held together nicely while still staying soft and delicate. The Wonton in Spicy Sauce was my personal favorite from the entire meal. The spicy sauce flavor was savory with a little sweetness. I'm typically not good with spice, so this is at a spice level that should be very manageable for everyone. I absolutely loved the spicy sauce, so I started putting it on everything. Definitely put the sauce on the chicken fried rice! The Chicken Fried Rice was a great dish to pair with everything else that we ordered. With several orders of entrees, a solid rice dish is a must order for any Chinese meal. The rice had a nice savory flavor that I enjoyed, and there was a generous amount of chicken mixed throughout the dish. I even asked the waitress if they do anything special with the fried rice because it tasted better than many other restaurants. It felt comforting and balanced compared to some of the heavier dishes. The Dry Fried String Beans were cooked perfectly with a slight crispness while still being tender. The garlic and seasoning gave them so much flavor that it honestly didn't even feel like I was eating vegetables. I do have to note that these were very much on the salty side, so if you don't like foods that are too salty, I would choose a different dish. The Orange Chicken was really crispy and juicy, which I appreciated because soggy orange chicken is always disappointing to me. The sauce had a nice citrus flavor while still keeping that classic sweet savory taste. The Spring Rolls were simple with vegetable filling on the inside with a crispy outside. I would try a different appetizer next time. The Kung Pao Shrimp was packed with flavor and had a really satisfying combination of textures. The shrimp were tender, and the peanuts added a great crunch to the dish. I thought the sauce had a really nice balance of spice and savoriness without becoming overwhelming. Another dish I really enjoyed was the Beef Roll Pancake. The pancake itself was nice and chewy throughout each bite. The sliced beef with green onions and sauce all wrapped together made every bite really flavorful and satisfying. For drinks, I ordered the Jasmine Milk Tea with Boba. I really liked that the jasmine tea flavor was noticeable instead of being overly sweet like some milk teas can be. The boba had a soft chewy texture, and the drink itself paired perfectly with the spicy and savory dishes from the meal. Staff: All of the staff members were quick and friendly Ambiance: Indoor seating only. A good amount of parking in the parking lot that is shared with other shops in the plaza.

At first, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the overall experience was better than I anticipated. The seasoning was a little strong, and some dishes had a fairly familiar, standardized taste. Nothing was bad, and everything was prepared well, but I do feel a little disappointed when the authentic flavors of traditional Chinese food become less noticeable. There were four of us, and we ordered about eight or nine of their most popular dishes. My parents really enjoyed the food. I have worked in China before, so I may be a little more sensitive and particular when it comes to Chinese food. Overall, the restaurant has good reviews, the prices are reasonable, and it was a pretty good dining experience.

Criticism that their dim sum dishes are expensive is valid, but I don't mind spending for their dishes because they generally serve giant, protein-filled dumplings and I enjoy that their dim sum is made to order. The other reasons that could yield a two- or three-star experience here are that service isn't great and some of their dim sum offerings, such as their xiao long bao (soup dumplings) aren't great. I also don't like that they charge you like $2 for a small container of chili oil. I do enjoy their fried offerings and their shiu mai and they're quite filling. This time, I got their mala spiced har gow and their chili won tons. Both were okay, but I don't think that I'd order them again. I understand why one could rate this as a three-star dining experience; however, it remains my local go-to option for dim sum because of their large dumpings, their made-to-order dishes, and because they're dumplings are pretty filled to the brim with meat.

The restaurant itself isn't anything crazy decor wise, they let the food speak for itself. Staff is friendly but not overly so. They go through the motions, and it works for the ambiance. To be honest, I'm just happy to be there and they provide everything you need so I'm not fussed about not getting doted on. Some of their greatest hits are the house fried fish, wu geng chang wan, and stir fried green beans. Our family almost always orders these items when we go out to eat. Their menu is huge so not everything is top tier but it is a great spot that continues to serve the local community. Can't really ask for more.

Sam Woo Cafe: satisfying, flavorful, and worth the wait if you time it right. Love at first visit!…read more Sam Woo Cafe in Artesia is order-from-the-picture-menu dim sum, not cart service. You fill out a short form at the podium (party size, name, phone) and join an electronic queue. Texts update your status, but stay close; tables free up in clusters after a long wait. Go early for lunch or expect a crowd. The dining room is bright and comfortable but gets noisy once full. I ordered: - Pork & Shrimp Shiu Mai (two orders of 5) - Scallop with Shrimp Dumplings (3) - Shrimp with Chives Dumplings (3) - Steamed BBQ Pork Buns (3) - Baked Egg Custard tarts (3) - Young Chow Fried Rice with added Lap Cheong (cured pork, +$2) Everything was good. Standouts were the scallop-shrimp dumplings and the pork & shrimp shiu mai. The Young Chow Fried Rice with the extra Lap Cheong was excellent. The baked egg custard tarts were textbook and remain a personal favorite since childhood. A neighboring older Chinese woman offered me a sample of the Pork Hame Sui Gok; it was outstanding and I will order it next time. I shared some of my extras with her in return. Service was attentive, Ricky was quick with food and drinks. The same woman had already told me "he's the best." I deliberately ordered extra for leftovers (dinner that night and breakfast before an early flight home to the Carson Valley). Will definitely return and have added it to my Long Beach Yelp collection.

When I walked in and saw the outside I was wondering why my friends choose this place, it looked from the outside like a small shop, but when I walked in it was way bigger and authentic. Jokes on me. Ordered a bunch of dim sum dishes, everything came out quickly. They even have dessert samples in the front. In San Francisco they would never have dessert samples at a dim sum place so that was a plus for our group. Tea is around $5 a pot. Potstickers were a hit and so was the beef chow fun. Those were 5/5 The beef jook is a skip, kind of tasted runny like powder and no real flavor with weird small bits of beef that looked like bacon bits. 2/10 Other than that the dim sum was solid amd came out hot and fresh. Same with the Chinese broccoli. Skip the lemon iced tea. Tasted like it was from a packet and it was horrible. 0/10 Would definitely come back for their dim sum though.

It's definitely a great spot for authentic Taiwanese food. It is very small inside and usually just 1 person working and the cook. :) Their menu has stayed pretty similar over the years, and they still have their "Economic Meals," which are basically lunch specials and such a great deal. I think they have some of the best popcorn chicken, which is listed as the spicy diced chicken. The spicy diced chicken, string beans, and mapo tofu are a must!! Those are always our go-to dishes.

And prefer it over many other Asian cuisines.* The reason I chose M's Kitchen over two other Taiwanese restaurants in the area? So many more vegetable dishes! And wow, am I completely grateful I did! We arrived on a Saturday evening, and the server and chef were both in the kitchen. The server came over and gave us menus before getting our drink orders. She was prompt in a very caring manner without ever seeming rushed. She had lots of suggestions as we asked questions about the menu. At some point, the chef was sitting with us, and she asked him clarifying questions for us. She even went back into the kitchen to find out which vegetables were the freshest (which I appreciated)! We ordered a cup of ginseng and goji berry chicken soup, chicken cream corn soup (with egg), ong choy with garlic, walnut shrimp, crispy tofu, and green scallion pancake. As each dish came out, it felt like different instruments in an orchestra being highlighted as they wove into the tapestry of the music. The ong choy built onto the soup, the crispy tofu onto the ong choy and soup, and so on! Until there was this grand harmony of pulsating flavors and textures! I thoroughly enjoyed each dish! I only wish I had a bigger appetite so I could eat more and faster! The server helped us to pack the leftovers. We spoke about how traditional Chinese and Taiwanese food get lost in the mix of more modern and fusion recipes and restaurants. I am also a loving fan of mom and pop dining because it reminds me of the many meals I have been gifted by the parents of friends and friends who have opened their homes and hearths to feed and nourish me in my life. I love feeling like I am visiting someone's family and sharing a meal together. This is how M's Kitchen felt for me! I am planning how many meals I can have here and who I can invite to experience the deliciousness soon! Please consider visiting! Even if you haven't tried Taiwanese food yet, this is a wonderful spot to start with!
