    Chicken Yellow Curry & Firecrackers
    Geovanna N.

After attempting to go to a different Thai restaurant where I was ignored, I came to Narai. I was in search of this location (unbeknownst to me I had already reviewed it lol) because I remember the food being great! Well, this is an update. Customer service here is still excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive. I had the Yellow Chicken Curry with white rice and the Firecrackers. The curry was delicious! A 10/10! The Firecrackers were a 10/10 as well. They were crispy and the food came out hot, which is a huge plus for me. I went alone this time and what I loved about my visit is that the restaurant feels cozy and warm. I felt great eating here alone. I definitely STILL recommend!

I dropped off my car for service in downey and while I was waiting, I found this spot right across the street. It was just past 3pm and this place was almost packed so I figured it had to be good. I ordered the Thai bbq chicken and asked if it came with any sides and they said, no, so I ordered a side of white rice. Most Thai restaurants will serve rice, or fried rice and salad with the plate. Anyways, the chicken came out and it looked super fresh but that was about it. The pieces were nice and big but it was super dry and lacked flavor. I had to ask for extra sauce to make up for the taste it lacked. Perhaps I ordered the wrong dish here. Hope to try another dish here the next time I get my car serviced.

    Teriyaki Chicken Large Tray

Disappointed on my order for Teriyaki chicken, ordered a large family tray. Paid over $100 for them to give me this amount of chicken. Never buying from them again.

My husband and I were struggling to find a dinner option last night and we landed on trying this place for the first time. I'm pleasantly surprised and we'll definitely be coming back! We did pickup, but the restaurant is very clean and cute. The staff was super friendly on the phone and at the counter. We both ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. I couldn't help myself and finished the whole plate, which could have easily been two servings. Definitely a new favorite and a great quick dinner or lunch option.

This might be one of the best Thai Yellow Curry spots I've ever had. Their Yellow Curry is absolutely tasty--creamy of coconut milk, rich in flavor, and perfectly balanced. We also tried the Narai Fried Rice with a mix of meats--great value and well-seasoned. Bonus points for the peas in the rice, which the kids loved (and parents appreciate for sneaking in veggies!). I usually like to put a bit of soy sauce, and they included it on the side for my take-out order without me even asking. That's thoughtful. The owner, June, is incredibly warm and knowledgeable. You can feel her passion for sharing authentic Thai flavors with the community. This place is flavorful, welcoming, and absolutely worth recommending.

Original price with "gratuity fee" was $159.99

Terrible service. The waiter tried to charge a $21 "gratuity fee" on my party of 5 and only removed it when I asked him what it was for and said some excuse about us being a party of 4+ I was not informed of additional charges due to party size when entering the restaurant. Once they removed the charge, I was given dirty looks and they started talking about us. I then decided to give them no tip because of them trying to force it upon me. As I was leaving the server rudely told me, "So you dont tip eh??" Terrible experience. Will not return.

Really great food and service! Easy to read menus with descriptions. Had the Pad See Ew and Thai Iced Tea. Great flavor! Food available for takeout as well. Good seating/space. Can't wait to come again.

We chose this place while looking for Gluten free options. This was our first time trying thai food at this location. Since it was a rainy day I called ahead to check the wait time and see if I could reserve a table for 6. Phone was answered quickly and I was told there was no wait and they will make table arrangements for our party before our arrival. Upon arrival we were seated in a room that seemed to accommodate large parties. Our server was very nice, but unfortunately I forgot her name. We asked few questions about gluten free options and also the flavor of curries they offered. Based on the recommendations, we ordered two items from starter - chicken satay skewers and Maria sampler. Chicken on both platters was very flavorful and tasted even better when dipped in the peanut sauce From noodles section we ordered : Pad Thai (gluten free option)- noodles were yummy and chicken / shrimp were moist. Silver noodles- noodles were little dry and we didn't enjoy it as much we enjoyed the pad thai. From curries we ordered: Chicken yellow curry and Thai green curry ( with shrimp) both were gluten free options. I had higher expectations for the yellow curry compared to green curry, but surprisingly we all loved green curry more than the yellow. Green curry had a little kick and the basil added a really nice flavor. I think getting it with shrimp was also a good choice. Yellow curry with chicken was little on the sweet side but the potatoes and carrot were cooked to perfection. It just melted in the mouth. From the grill we ordered Thai BBQ pork. This was my son's entree and he loved it. Pork with garlic flavor was a hit. From the Main dishes we ordered sweet n sour chicken. It took some time before this item was brought ( normal time for preparation of this dish. Even menu states to give 15 mins). It included fried chicken, pineapple, carrots, bell peppers, onions in sweet tangy sauce. The sauce mixed well with all the ingredients and made the dish taste even better.

    Spicy Fried Rice. Tofu

Food not as good as it used to be. Prices a bit high.. service good ...ambiance... same as any Thai Restaurant... average. Noticed the cooks are Hispanic and all the kitchen help. I might be wrong

    Pineapple Shrimp Fried Rice

Wasn't expecting to love the Moo-yang this much--BBQ pork came out smoky, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Every bite had that charred edge that makes you pause it. Dipping it in their sour fish sauce? Total flavor bomb, wish I had enough room to ordered their papaya salad and sticky rice. It could've been a great combo. The pineapple fried rice was solid--classic curry notes, turmeric gave it a warm kick without being heavy.

    Tofu pad thai

Food was spot on 5/5 I always order pad thai whenever I can and I was pleasantly surprised with how flavorful my first bite was, especially since I ordered it with tofu. The noodles had a good bounce and chew. I would have liked a little bit more veggies, like shredded carrots and bean sprouts, but what can ya do. My fiance ordered the hot and spicy chicken - he said it was really good too. I think they use Serrano peppers, so be careful! It definitely isn't a bell pepper! No complaints about service. My water was always full. The only thing that bothered me slightly were the flies that kept flying around while we were eating.

Is this the same Restaurant that used to be in San Francisco on Clement Street? I miss that Narai so bad. Was the best Thai restaurant in the neighborhood for many many years.

    Yes it's good

Do they have gluten free options?

Hi! Yes, we do have gluten free options. If you're gluten intolerant, then avoid all stir fry dishes since soy sauce and oyster sauce may contain wheat. Fish sauce, as far as I know, does not contain any wheat products (I checked the label and it… Read more

So today I decided to bring a friend out to try authentic Thai food and Can Coon did not disappoint us at all. I ordered Nam Kao Tod : Crispy rice with ground pork ,ginger, peanut I ordered not spicy B/C my friend can't handle the heat. Thai flavors are like how I experienced in Thailand so flavorful they made it just right. My favorite dish. Nuah Num Tok: It's beef salad with roasted rice lime juice red onions I asked to cooked the steak medium rare and it came out perfect Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork: this dish is my all time favorite. Crispy Pork was nice and crispy not chewy not hard at all Can Coon knows how to make this dish so well. Chinese Broccoli was not over cooked it was fresh and crunchy. Last dish was a Thai Menudo soup Or #45 Tom Kreong Nai The beef was so tender melt in my mouth, tribes was crunchy not over cooked we loved it with a hint of limes I added more of chilies powder B/C Thai food is all about the heat and spicy. The Thai Lady that took care of us is super sweet and friendly She's very attentive always keeps my glass full. She makes sure we got everything we need and with smile too. The restaurant is very clean no trash on the floor no stain or food left on the table. The Ambiance was nice and quiet not too loud we can have a normal conversation without yelling at each other. Honestly, it's basically…read morethe same broth, the king version just loads it up with brisket, tendon, tripe, and meatballs, so think of it as a fully stacked boat noodle. The broth is the star here. It's rich, flavorful, slightly sweet with a tangy kick, pretty sure there's some tangerine going on in there. Just a heads up, even "mild spicy level" has a noticeable heat, so if you're sensitive to spice, don't try to be brave... go no spice. The meats were surprisingly good, tender, not chewy, which is where a lot of places mess up. Noodles came out hot, no complaints there. We also got mango sticky rice and this is where they really sealed the deal. Mango was perfectly in season, juicy, sweet, not that sad sour off-season stuff. Sticky rice was soft and actually tasted like it was made fresh, not reheated from yesterday. Waitress was attentive and nice. Place itself is small, clean, modern, very mom-and-pop but done right, not rundown. I will definitely come back.

I was in the area at a doctor's appointment and my bf googled around the area for Thai Food. We…read morecame upon Thai Noodle since they were close by and the pictures looked good. It's tucked in a small strip mall with limited parking. The inside is very small, but cozy, clean, and has a warm mom and pop feel to it. The menu is pretty big with lots of options to choose from. _Chicken Satay ($11.59) Strips of chicken charcoal broiled. Served with peanut sauce and cucumber chutney. Always a must try. This was probably one of the most well cooked and seasoned satay. Very moist and well flavored. The peanut sauce was spot on and the vinegar sweet chutney is a perfect balance and adds a nice crunch texture. _Tom Kha Fish Noodle Soup ($14.99) Rice noodles with fresh fish filet, mushrooms, onion, tomatoes, galangal, kaffir lime, leaves in coconut milk spicy & sour soup. I would grow up having Tom Kha soup with my dad but was surprised as I've never seen fish kha in a noodle soup. I've had lots of Tom Kha and this is one of the top 3 I've had. The perfect amount of spices and aromas. Not too acidic or watery, and the right amount of sweetness. The fish was soft and had a good amount. The noodles were glass noodles, which was nice but I will say towards the end, the noodle soaks a lot of the broth. I would probably switch out for a different type of noodle next time. _Spicy Fried Rice ($13.79) Stir-fried with green beans, bell pepper, basil and your choice of chicken, pork or tofu. My bf ordered this and he did ask for medium but it was not really spicy (and that's coming from me, someone who really can't do spicy) Second time he ordered it mild and he said it was better and it did pack a bit more of a punch. I do appreciate that the rice was well seasoned and not too oily or buttery. _Orange Chicken ($13.79) Chicken breaded stir fried with Orange sauce. We have been on an orange chicken kick and compare to our favorite at Northern Cafe. We were pleasantly surprised, that this actually knocked it out. To be fair, its very different. I'm used to orange chicken being very sweet and heavy on sauce. This was more of a light sauce that had a tangerine flavor profile, so not overpowering, but still tasting the chicken with the sweetness being the enhancement instead of the main component. _Yen Ta Fo ($14.99) Pink rice noodles with special red soup, shrimp, squid, fish-balls, fish cake, imitation crab stick, tofu, white fungus & vegetables. I first saw this, when my gf, whom is Thai ordered it and I was intrigued as it was a dish I have never seen. I tried a bit and was a fan so when I saw they had it, I had to try their version. The soup was the perfect balance of sweet and sour (and I generally don't like sour), a bit acidic but also had a subtle light and refreshing taste to it. The white fungus had a nice chew to it, but more texture than taste. Safe to say we have found our new favorite Thai restaurant. We came here twice, and both times service is always very inviting and kind. Price is very fair for the quality and quantity.
