The pineapple fried rice with shrimp has been my go to dish for years now. This last time I ordered it they didn't put a sweet sauce in it so I was a tad disappointed but so hungry there was no way I was going to call them to bring me just a sauce. I was in search of this location (unbeknownst to me I had already reviewed it lol) because I remember the food being great! Well, this is an update. Customer service here is still excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive. I had the Yellow Chicken Curry with white rice and the Firecrackers. The curry was delicious! A 10/10! The Firecrackers were a 10/10 as well. They were crispy and the food came out hot, which is a huge plus for me. I went alone this time and what I loved about my visit is that the restaurant feels cozy and warm. I dropped off my car for service in downey and while I was waiting, I found this spot right across the street. It was just past 3pm and this place was almost packed so I figured it had to be good. I ordered the Thai bbq chicken and asked if it came with any sides and they said, no, so I ordered a side of white rice. Most Thai restaurants will serve rice, or fried rice and salad with the plate. Anyways, the chicken came out and it looked super fresh but that was about it. The pieces were nice and big but it was super dry and lacked flavor. The tom yum was initially okay... we let it sit awhile and then the flavor popped. Not the best I've had, but definitely good. The pad see ew and pad Thai were very good.. I personally really liked their pad Thai- it's saucy, tangy and sweet... just the way I like. This might be one of the best Thai Yellow Curry spots I've ever had. Their Yellow Curry is absolutely tasty--creamy of coconut milk, rich in flavor, and perfectly balanced. We also tried the Narai Fried Rice with a mix of meats--great value and well-seasoned. Bonus points for the peas in the rice, which the kids loved (and parents appreciate for sneaking in veggies!). I usually like to put a bit of soy sauce, and they included it on the side for my take-out order without me even asking. That's thoughtful. The owner, June, is incredibly warm and knowledgeable. This is absolutely the worst Thai food you will ever eat in your life. I have eaten in Thai restaurants all over the world and I've probably eaten at 50 Thai restaurants over the years. I've never even had anything remotely as bad as this the green curry tasted like dishwater. Bbq chicken tasted old and the papaya salad looked and tasted like it was mixed with dirt. The waiter tried to charge a $21 "gratuity fee" on my party of 5 and only removed it when I asked him what it was for and said some excuse about us being a party of 4+ I was not informed of additional charges due to party size when entering the restaurant. Once they removed the charge, I was given dirty looks and they started talking about us. I then decided to give them no tip because of them trying to force it upon me. Used to go here a long time ago, maybe 10 years and it was great. Ordered again and it was okay. Spicy fried rice was a bit dry. Flavor was there, just not enough liquid to rehydrate the rice. Chicken satay was... weird. I've never had chicken satay were they used chicken breast. Again flavor was kinda there, but it lacked the fat to keep it moist, ending up dry as well. Chicken tom yum was good. Drank all the soup and veggies, but again.. chicken beast and not cut too thin,Dried up in the soup. Im in no ways against chicken beast, but certain applications call for certain cuts and today's meal was just okay. Besides that, service was great. Even though I was ordering pick up, they were very nice on the phone and in person. The restaurant looked full and cozy when I picked up my order. We chose this place while looking for Gluten free options. This was our first time trying thai food at this location. Since it was a rainy day I called ahead to check the wait time and see if I could reserve a table for 6. Phone was answered quickly and I was told there was no wait and they will make table arrangements for our party before our arrival. Upon arrival we were seated in a room that seemed to accommodate large parties. Our server was very nice,but unfortunately I forgot her name. We asked few questions about gluten free options and also the flavor of curries they offered. Based on the recommendations, we ordered two items from starter - chicken satay skewers and Maria sampler. Chicken on both platters was very flavorful and tasted even better when dipped in the peanut sauce From noodles section we ordered : Pad Thai (gluten free option)- noodles were yummy and chicken / shrimp were moist. Silver noodles- noodles were little dry and we didn't enjoy it as much we enjoyed the pad thai. From curries we ordered: Chicken yellow curry and Thai green curry ( with shrimp) both were gluten free options. I had higher expectations for the yellow curry compared to green curry, but surprisingly we all loved green curry more than the yellow. Green curry had a little kick and the basil added a really nice flavor. I think getting it with shrimp was also a good choice. Yellow curry with chicken was little on the sweet side but the potatoes and carrot were cooked to perfection. It just melted in the mouth. From the grill we ordered Thai BBQ pork. This was my son's entree and he loved it. Pork with garlic flavor was a hit. From the Main dishes we ordered sweet n sour chicken. It took some time before this item was brought ( normal time for preparation of this dish. Even menu states to give 15 mins). It included fried chicken, pineapple, carrots, bell peppers, onions in sweet tangy sauce. The sauce mixed well with all the ingredients and made the dish taste even better. read more

This is where I go to have a calm dining experience. Everyone is nice, they are also great to my 1 year old daughter which is a huge plus. The food isn't overly spicy which is good. The only knock on this place and it's not their fault is the parking. It's in a shopping center and it can sometimes be difficult to find one. Very Concerned About How Leftovers Are Handled I've eaten here a few times and while the food itself tastes fine, I've noticed a disturbing pattern. Every time I ask for a to-go box, the staff takes my plate to the back instead of letting me pack it myself. When they return, I only get back a small fraction of what was left on my plate -- sometimes only about 10%. This isn't just a one-time mistake; it has happened with different meals, and it really makes me wonder what's happening to the rest of the food. Honestly, it feels like staff are either eating or throwing away customers' leftovers without explanation. But I really think that they're eating it. Food was spot on 5/5 I always order pad thai whenever I can and I was pleasantly surprised with how flavorful my first bite was, especially since I ordered it with tofu. The noodles had a good bounce and chew. I would have liked a little bit more veggies, like shredded carrots and bean sprouts, but what can ya do. Amazing place ! We were welcomed very nicely and attended by ms.Jay wonderful lady ! Our food did not take long we waited around 15 minutes or so. My girlfriend had NEVER tried Thai and I had to put her on! We opted to go all in with getting Thai iced tea, Tom yum soup, chicken pad tie, rice, and crab Rangoon! We were HOOKED on the absolute perfectly flavored Thai iced tea! The pad Thai was also delectable and they gave us a huge portion to share, part of which we took home. There is tons of space inside here and there is lots of sunlight entering the building. The staff was also very helpful and were on top of everything for us the entire time! Narai Thai never disappoints.. they are IMO the best Thai here in Downey. We love their Pad See Eww ( usually order beef or chicken both are delicious) also like the house fried rice comes with all the meats! Portions are enough for dinner and lunch the next day. read more

Food: Chicken pad Thai and coffee, both were excellent. One small complaint - when I asked for the "spicy" levels the guy at the counter told me they come on the side. ??? That was new. So I had plenty of chili paste and dry chili seasoning, but because I had to incorporate it in to the noodles, it didn't taste the same. I'd get a bite of super spicy and then a bite of no spice. I mean, that sounds weird to say but most places are just "meh" whereas I was genuinely surprised at how clean this one was. I often overlook that detail or sometimes do not use the restroom, but I'm glad I did here because the picture had me laughing and also, it made a lot of sense, so... Price: Middle of the road. Expect 20-25$ for a whole meal. I didn't really check the prices, so I'm just going off what I ordered. Service: The place was busy but all of the hostesses were still very nice. Seems like a bumpin' place! No complaints about the service. Overall: It was good but because the spice was on the side, by the time I got to my hotel, the noodles were hard to break apart. I had not ever had that before and I wasn't a huge fan. I would assume it is because (perhaps?) some people complain about it being too spicy and they cannot cook all of the noodles (spicy and non-spicy) in the same wok, so they don't. I wanted to try out a new Thai food restaurant and I'm soo glad I found this hidden gem. The food was amazing, I ordered the coconut soup (Tom Kha), it was savory and very well seasoned. It had lots of mushrooms, lemon grass, and chicken, it was worth the price. I completely forgot to take pictures, once it came out I was at awe of how delicious it looked and the presentation was stunning. My partner got the Pad Thai and it was sooo delicious, it came with pieces of tofu, assorted veggies, and chicken, for the price I will say it was worth it as well. Customer service was great, we had ordered other apps and our server gave us free rice on the house. I didn't catch his name but he was very attentive and helpful when ordering. I absolutely love Narai, never have been disappointed and this time was the same as expected. I ordered my usual Pad Thai, pork chow mien, two orders red curry, one pork the other chicken and, of course, crab ragoon. Food is excellent, I've been patronizing for many years, well-over 15 . Thank you for the speedy, friendly service. The restaurant is quant and cozy, nicely decorated and clean; I have never eaten in the restaurant so at a glance around the room it seems well taken care of, the guests are smiling and the food is eye appalling. Narai thai has been one of my top favorite Thai restaurants for a while now but unfortunately the last couple of times I've ordered takeout, it didn't meet our expectations. I ordered the pad see ew and my husband the pad thai with fried tofu. The noodles were sort of dry, veggies were stale and withered, plates were stacked with poorly cooked noodles and 5 tiny pieces of protein and tiny bid of veggies. The previous time I called for a takeout order we ordered soups and that was a tremendous disappointment as well....nothing but clear broth with a few pieces of mushrooms no veggies at all so we ended up spending more money having to order the same dish from another Thai restaurant around the corner from us (which tonight was already closed by the way) and so we opted to give Narai thai another try but sadly we regretted it. We used to patronize this restaurant and our experience was always delightful but this time around we decided to express our minds so that others could have a more satisfying experience by dining in rather than taking out. I ordered the hot and spicy chicken lunch special and a spicy seafood soup. It was a little pricy which i wouldn't have minded for good food but it lacked flavor.
