We love this place. Located in Downey, it is a great place for sushi and all other types of Japanese food. It is just great. They are open for delivery, indoor/outdoor dining, and takeout. Phone orders, DoorDash, Grubhub, Postmates, and Uber Eats are accepted. If you can eat there. The service is just so good and it is a peaceful place. It is quiet and you can just relax and have great food. The place is so well maintained and it is spotless. Their miso soup is some of the best we have had and we love their platters when we are with friends. They have wonderful starters and we sometimes order a bunch and skip the mains. Their baked green mussels are not like any I have had before. Their deep fried gyoza is amazing. Their salmon collar and oysters on the half shell are ever so tasty. So go there. read more

Even after 4 years this place still is the best in Downey imo!! I was sad though to see it was so empty on a Friday night after work. I was the only patron there for most of my meal :( The owner is a doll. She always comes up and strikes up a conversation. She's so cute! I was in the mood for oyster shooter and I ended up getting 2. That's a first for me but hey I was craving it!! I can't remember what the roll was called but I got the spicy tuna with avocado on top with a spicy cilantro sauce and red onions on top. read more

This place was recommended. Came here and the food was Delicious, Service was quick, attentive and a good price.

People. You need to visit this place before it closes down due to a lack of foot traffic. I genuinely felt like the only places where I could get decent sushi were Little Tokyo and Sawtelle Village. Little did I know that a delicious, authentic experience was literally down the street from me. But, more importantly is how hospitable everyone at this establishment is. My servers greeted me with a warm welcome, followed by a few friendly suggestions including a sushi roll special. And, when they were busy juggling other responsibilities at the restaurant, even the sushi chef himself would step up to ask me if I needed anything. I was there for little over an hour. But, I could have stayed longer if I had a bigger stomach and a larger wallet. So many tasty options. Such deliciously minimalist cuts of fish. And, plenty of cold beer to enjoy a game on the yuuuge big screen in a clean, intimately lit environment. Jin Sushi is now going to save me plenty of time and gas to get my sushi fix. read more

My go-to sushi spot never disappoints. The vibe is always super chill -- soft rock playing in the background, relaxed atmosphere, and just an easy place to sit down and enjoy great food. The sushi is always fresh and honestly just bomb every time. But what really makes the place special is the people. Cindy, Andrew, Andrew, Ben, and the rest of the team are incredibly attentive and hospitable. They go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. They even know my 4-year-old daughter by name and always ask about her when she's not with me, which says a lot about the kind of place this is. You can tell this spot is run by genuinely kind people who care about their customers and the experience they create. Great sushi, great vibe, and even better people. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat. read more

I've been a customer for years. Many date nights and groups too. This last one didn't go well at all. BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR BILL. We were a party of 4 with two children under the age of 5. So party of 6, if you count kids like that. Food was super delicious as always! That wasn't the issue. The issue was us splitting the checks between both parties, they took it upon theirselves to add not 18 but 22% gratuity to each of our checks. My total went from 102 to 135. Our friends check was the same. The kids barely ate anything and it was from our own plates. Server was Alone and it was nowhere near busy. us and 1 family at that time. We needed napkins, refills, condiments, etc. He had time but was just stuck in the back with some other older woman. I'm not sure if I'll be back to dine in again that really through me off. We always tip, that wasn't the problem. It was how he went about it and said over parties of 5 they automatically add it, which is understandable but to charge us gratuity twice ? Nahhh that 22 percent could've been spilt between us. Mf ended up getting about 60 bucks just from us and didn't even do shit but bring us our food make that make sense. To me that screams we hurting for money. Well yall can go take someone else's read more

First time I do sit down dinner here. I have had take out several times. I'm in love the Lexus roll. I'm a sucker for anything mango. You can order sushi with "less rice" I love this. I'm sure other places let you too. Our party was 7 so gratuity was included in our receipt which I like. Chicken and unagi bowls had very little sauce but we were able to request more. Girl had a sushi burrito. She had never had one cut but she liked it. This place is not the cheapest in price but you are paying for good quality food. read more

Delicious sushi. Friendly service. Very clean and comfortable. I go there every week.

The worst customer service ever. Please make sure you always check your Suzy orders to go. Once I got home. I noticed they gave me the wrong. Suzy roll, so I did give them a call letting them know, and they gave me a very hard time until they said for me to pick it up. They requested for me to bring the old mistaken rolled back, and they charge me the difference of the role. read more

This place is such a hidden gem! The staff are all very kind and welcoming. They provide amazing service and great recommendations on their rolls! It's very cozy inside like most sushi restaurants. The food is incredible! The seaweed salad is amazing! My favorite rolls are the monster roll and the Jessica roll. My husband and I love coming for a quick dinner or ordering for a night in. Everything we have tried has been incredible! read more

Great place for sushi. Jin Sushi does a great job of bringing people in, as for keeping them there, well they rely on good sushi. I witnessed the previous sushi place fail at this location before Jin Sushi opened up. Shows you how good food will easily attract clientele. The Food - I ordered the pink lady roll, and the new sashimi roll on their menu, my kids had the usual chicken bowl with miso soup. Rolls taste fresh, and the combinations are excellent on both taste and presentation. I wont talk about the chicken bowl, as I'm not a fan, I wouldn't be able to give a comparable, and fair review. The Service - We always get treated great here, the waitresses always make an effort to be friendly and engage with my kids. The food comes out quickly and we never find ourselves waiting for long in any part of our visit. The Ambiance - The lighting is on the brighter side, the tables are situated in a cozy layout, and the back wall is covered by a big TV. Overall, I remembered what this place looked like before it was Jin Sushi, and they have definitely made improvements. Great spot to take your lunch break and have some sushi. read more

This restaurant started off the new year by completely disappointing us. We have been long-time customers, but after this experience, we will never return. We were repeatedly told that our order was out for delivery when, in reality, it was not. After a prolonged back-and-forth, they finally realized their mistake. By that point, my patience was gone. There was no apology for their error, and they refused to cancel or refund our order. The lack of honesty and accountability in their customer service was unacceptable. There are many better sushi restaurants that value their customers and provide far better service. read more

This is great sushi and good prices. I really like the staff because they were willing to charge me the cheaper price that the ordering service I used was charging for the same order. We have never eaten in the restaurant, but when I have picked up food it looks cool inside. I recommend this as a solid sushi spot for everyday orders and eats. read more

The food, service and ambiance was exceptional. It was a family night and we ordered several dishes: Calamari, Hot Night Roll, the 911 Roll, Mexican Roll and the Crunch California Roll. I had bad FOOD POISONING after i ate sushi and oysters at this place. The oysters tasted bad and i called the waitress to remove it off the table. She brought the manager to tell me that their oysters are fresh, i said okay but it doesn't taste good, so please remove it off the table. Baked sushi also tasted bad. After few hours symptoms of food poisoning started to show on my friend and I. Nausea, Vomiting, headache and fever! I will not step a foot in this place ever again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND read more

Went during lunch time and it was not busy at all. Service was horrible. The wait time was long. We first asked for water while we looked at the menu. It took her 15mins to get two cups of water. We then asked for straws which then took another 5 mins When we asked the waitress for napkins she gave us 1 when we were 2 people, what were we supposed to do split the napkin. When I asked for another napkins she gave us a look like if we were crazy. When she brought us our sushi we had to ask for chopsticks, ginger & wasabi which then took another 5 mins. Shouldn't there already be wasabi and ginger with the sushi?? The calamari and jalapeno poppers were horrible. They seemed as if they were frozen and placed in microwave to heat up. The sushi was okay. **note to owner get a happier waitress, this young Asian waitress gives horrible service** read more

My neighbor was telling me that I had to stop "at that new Japanese place by my smoke shop" (hahaha) for some sushi and miso soup... she was totally right. The staff is like Southern hospitality nice. Even though I was there in person to place a takeout order, they insisted that my girls and I have a seat. They spoiled the little beasties with lollipops too. Once again, my eyes were bigger than my appetite, but I couldn't help it. I ordered... Roll A combo: California roll (4 pcs), California tempura roll (4 pcs), Spicy tuna rolls (4 pcs), Spicy tempura tuna rolls (4 pcs) ($11.99) Everything was fresh and made with care. Next time, I will try something different, though, because no substitutions can be made with this combo. Also, my girls shared a dinner bento combo ($14.99)... served with "gyoza (2 pcs), house salad, miso soup, & steamed rice." For the main part, I chose chicken teriyaki and assorted tempura (shrimp & vegetables). It was a hit with them - especially the chicken teriyaki and miso soup. Plenty of free parking in a shared lot at this strip mall. Welcome to Downey, Jin Sushi! I'll be seeing a lot more of you. :) read more

Came to Jin Sushi during covid and had a great experience but haven't been back until last week. It was packed around 7pm and was helped right away by our server. She was running around crazy helping all her tables she was great. Talked to another server and asked about the original udon soup, couldn't decide between the miso udon or original and went with the original which was pretty tasty. They ended up letting me try a small sample of their miso which is so delicious and would definitely get the udon miso soup next time. Grabbed a baked roll and a tempura roll and ended our dinner with tempura green tea ice cream. Their service was extraordinary and the food was delicious, hit the spot for this pregnant mama. Will 100% be coming back! read more

Ordered here from caviar. I decided to go with this place solely because they use real crab meat. I can't stand imitation crab. Yuck! Everything came packaged neat and had all the sauces in individual containers along side each roll. Everything was fresh. The spicy tuna had a nice kick. Everything was quite amazing. I will definitely order again and am looking forward to coming into the restaurant. read more

Decent sushi and really amazing prices! We stop by for dinner on a Sunday night. It wasn't crowded at all and we were seated right away. Their service was really great and all the waiters were extremely friendly. We had so many questions about sashimi menu and the waiter was very patient with us. I love that the rolls and sushi pieces didn't have too much rice. The medium sashimi plate came with about 18 pieces of fish, 6 different types of fish. Granted, the fish isn't the freshest or the best quality but it really is such a good bang for your buck. It still hits the sushi craving really well. The baked scallop roll was really delicious and again, I love that it didn't have too much rice. There still were a good amount of pieces and it really did fill us up. A large hot sake was six dollars which I thought was really affordable!! There is plenty of parking in the plaza but it can get packed when the restaurant is really busy. read more

The service is amazing, our waitress had our glasses full the whole time we were there. The food came out very fast and that is always good when your on your lunch break. That being said, I really wanted to like the food. It was bland and the fish did not taste fresh. Ordered the hot night roll, it was missing that cold fresh spicy tuna punch you get when you put one of those pieces in your mouth. The tempura shrimp was hard and not fresh either. We had two bento boxes along with the roll. Terriyaki chicken and a shrimp tempura roll for my friend and I had the spicy tuna roll and tempura. The tempura in the bento lunch was out standing. Light and crisp and the vegetables inside were cooked perfectly.wish they used that shrimp for my hot night roll. The spicy tuna roll, was bland. Did not have enough kick to it, could it be that the siracha shortage has hit here too? Either way, it was missing flavor. The salad dressing on both our salads were amazing great flavor and nice selection of lettuce. The gyoza were over cooked and very hard to eat. Overall the place was clean and the service was great! read more

I do like this place, but ugh, it's so inconsistent!! I ordered the usual Geisha roll and this time they forgot the spicy crab meat, eel sauce, so now I it feels like I paid $18 for a California roll with tuna on top... Is this place tasty? When they get your order correct, yes it is. I just wish they would be more consistent because every time I order the Geisha roll it's something different, such as they forget avocado, or a sauce, or in this case spicy crab meat. It's always down graded because they forgot something. As Good as this place can be, I think I'd rather go to another joint and get what I paid for. read more
