Went here for date night a couple weeks ago. It was an exceptional experience and made the drive from east Mesa worth it. There are dedicated parking spots in addition to spots for the bank nextdoor that we were able to use since the bank had already closed for the day. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended we try the chop salad which they are known for, but we opted to try that next time! The drinks were very good! My painkiller was delicious! We got the appetizer Pretzel and sausage. It was really nice and the spicy mustard had a kick!! We got the salmon entree and the Chimichurri chicken entree. We had a great first time at The Gladly! First, our server was outstanding...I wish I could remember his name because he deserves props! He recommended an Asian whiskey...never went down that road before and it was surprisingly good. My wife and I shared the chopped salad...outstanding...and I had the salmon and my wife had the poke bowl. Both dishes had great flavor, was well prepared and well presented. I'm definitely going back and would recommend it to others. Such a miserable disappointment. It's very simple. Two girls arrive for their 12:30 lunch reservation. We order salads with one specific request: dressing on the side. Simple right? Result: Caesar Salads arrive smothered with dressing. Ok let's move on. Then, to add insult to injury, I had ordered salmon to my salad; Cost to add was $12. I'd like someone to let me know what size they think a $12 piece of salmon should look like. Especially when added to a salad already priced at $15 the total being $27 Well, it was so small I asked the waiter if this was a bite to sample ? He replied that this was the $12 salmon for the salad. The salad was really amazing the flavors pair so well together. I didn't make any adjustments, and had the smoked salmon. It was very delicious and I'd definitely come back. The gladly was very good all around. Parking was a bit interesting, it always is in this part of town and it's a short hike from the parking garage to the restaurant. Finding the entrance was a bit interesting here, not impossible, but we found ourselves coming into a business building, then through a small "back" staircase that lead us into the back of the restaurant next to the bar. I'm still not sure where the actual front door was, but ultimately it was actually kind of cool because it was unusual. Atmosphere: we initially sat inside and then realized they have a really cool outdoor patio. One side faces the street, but they've put boxed trees and lights around so you feel comfortably surrounded by nature and are outside enjoying the weather and starry skies. Inside looked really cool, with dim lighting and comfortable seating and high-end finishes and a really upscale, comfortable bar. We simply preferred the fresh air being on the patio. Our patio table and chairs were relatively comfortable. Table cloths and nice silverware and dishes continued the classy feel of the restaurant while still making us feel comfortable. Service: Our service was excellent. Our server was informative and made excellent recommendations. Food delivery and refills were attentive and friendly. No complaints here whatsoever. Food: The three of us really enjoyed our meals. The ingredients were quality, fresh and visually appealing. The taste was decent, not over-the-top, almost as if the flavors were made to be bold, but a bit cautious. The unusual and high-end main dish ingredients offered an exciting set of options (foie gras, scallops, duck, filet mignon, truffles, oyster, tuna, rock shrimp, etc.). The biggest drawback for me was portion size as I recall, it was not as large as I had hoped for the price and I didn't walk out feeling entirely "satisfied". Entrées are $25-$45 per person while sandwiches are less. Would I recommend The Gladly? Yes. Really nice atmosphere, great service, high-quality food. Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to return to give them a second shot at a five star review if I were back in the area. read more

2nd time to this swanky joint. Apparently it used to be more hipster, but unsure if there is any truth in it. Regardless, this place is well decorated and the food is phenomenal. Not only is it tasty, but the presentation just makes you want to order more to see the artistry created by their chefs. Given the schwankiness, I'm not surprised they don't have beer on tap, but the cocktails and wine selection more than make up for that. Great place for a date or dinner with friends. Stopped in here for a light dinner and cocktail the other night. Lots of space between customers, that's for sure! They are taking the social distancing to heart, which is good. Had my customary vodka martini, which was made to perfection. We decided to try the pretzel bread with the sausage and cheese and the roasted brussel sprouts in a creamy sauce from the happy hour menu. I must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of brussel sprouts, but these were good! The roasting with its spices and the cream sauce. I'm thinking brussel sprouts might just grow on me! The pretzel bread was tasty, small and cute. It went well with the sausage, which I believe was fried, and the cheese. I wish we had a larger bread, especially to go with the cheese. The Gladly was everything I hoped it would be, and more. Our server Rachel was absolutely amazing! She had a lovely personality and was super knowledgeable about all the gluten free menu items that are safe for a Celiac. I ordered the field greens salad and shrimp cocktail, and my husband ordered crab cakes and a side of corn grits. The shrimp were so meaty and delicious and their cocktail sauce was soooo good. I've also never seen my husband so happy while eating crab cakes. He said the avocado cream was to die for. I didn't even get a photo of his grits because he ate them too quickly! We dined on the patio so we could enjoy the sunset and mild weather. I loved that the tables were spaced far enough apart so each party had privacy, and the servers didn't have to squeeze sideways while carrying food and drinks. For my sister's birthday she wanted to come to The Gladly, so mom and I indulged her. But I gotta say, we were very impressed with the whole experience. It's in a pretty upscale part of Phoenix and you can feel the ambiance as soon as you walk in. I honestly couldn't tell who the servers were though. In any case once ours introduced himself to us, it was all good. He was very pleasant and helped make our experience there fun. For starters we got the Brussel Sprouts which came on a bed of grits, and Crab cakes. Absolutely delicious - grits were creamy and smooth; sprouts were perfect. For my meal I got the small order of Parsley Garlic Chicken served on risotto. The skin on the chicken could have been a bit more crisp, but it was seasoned beautifully and the sun dried tomatoes gave it a bit more umph. Definitely recommend. read more

Forever one of my faves. A restaurant has to be incredibly special and consistent to get on regular rotation with me, as I tend to prefer to always try somewhere new, but this one has made it on. As many other have said: GET THE CHOPPED SALAD!! Even if you generally don't like salads, just do it. Trust me. Very sad to not see the duck meatloaf on the menu anymore, but some other solids are the scallops, the cherry cola short ribs, and the salmon. Haven't tried the others yet, because I keep reordering these (Again, it's rare for me to repeat things versus try something new. That should speak volumes) and the salad. We actually enlarged our dinner party, and as their private room wasn't reserved for the night. They gave us the entire private room without setting a minimum or anything. Awesome service. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The short rib is to die for. If you're a whiskey, connoisseur, this is the place for you. They have an extremely extensive whiskey list. Met up with a friend here at 4:30pm on a Friday and was pleasantly surprised at how busy it was! Lots of people stopping in for Happy Hour after work or meeting up with family for dinner. The decor is nice, the whiskey/rye selection is pretty solid and the food menu has clear demarcations of what is gluten-free and what isn't. We stayed through HH and had dinner at the bar. "I'll gladly repay you Tuesday for The Gladly's chopped salad today" -- Wimpy on Weight Watchers Food: 4* Service: 4* Ambiance: 2* For Restaurant Week The Gladly's menu looked very intriguing. It had all their greatest hits on the menu so I decided to give them a try. I had thought that making a reservation during the weekday would ensure that it wouldn't be too busy but the dining room was pretty crowded when we got here. I had the chopped salad, duck meatloaf and the sole option for Restaurant Week dessert was a chocolate olive oil torte. I absolutely loved the chopped salad. It had everything I look for in a salad: fresh ingredients, a melange of textures and flavors, the perfect amount of dressing, and it was beautifully presented to boot. I would go back here for the salad alone! The duck meatloaf was decent. For me the real star of the show in this dish was the foie gras mousse. It was so silky smooth and rich. I didn't really like the slightly mushy, nearly risotto-like texture of the millet with the meatloaf. I felt like the textures of both were too similar and the meatloaf's flavor didn't gel well with the millet. The torte was also decent. I love Korean pear but I'm not sure it was the best choice for a dark chocolatey dessert such as this torte. With such a delicate flavor the pear was overshadowed by the chocolate. The texture of the torte itself was also a little grainy for my tastes. Service was friendly, albeit a bit frazzled due to all the customers eating here. The one real killer for me was the noise level and the general ambiance. It was fairly full when we were here, maybe 70-80% of capacity. It was so annoyingly loud in the dining area and I could barely hear conversation at our table or not hear at all. The ambiance seems to have an identity crisis, for the lighting was so dim as if it was attempt to create a romantic atmosphere but the table set up and lack of sound dampening in the room indicated otherwise. There is a nice patio out back which does seem better for dining in a more relaxed environment so if I go back maybe I'll try some al fresco dining. read more

Super glad we went here! The food, service, and atmosphere were wonderful. The Gladly was walking distance from our hotel, The Camby, and we were able to get reservations, which I would recommend. Nice, yet casual feel. The food was amazing!! My wife and I started with the tuna crudo, the had the salmon and the scallops for our entrees and the bread pudding for dessert. OK, I know there's only one picture because I only ordered 1 thing. And unfortunately my guest, also ordered the same thing. It's the Chimichurri chicken, we could not resist it. Very good, and to me it was not spicy, both of us enjoyed our meal. The waiter was awesome and really took care of us. I'm going back to try the Salmon dish next time. I will update this once I go back and show the other dishes I try because they sounded just as delicious. We did have a shrimp cocktail and the cocktail sauce had just the right amount of horseradish for a kick. You do only get 4 large shrimp for the order but it was just enough for both of us. We had the chopped salad, filet, Mac and Cheese with an Americano and the weekend special lemon cake. The food was excellent, a solid 4 out of 5. The Gladly gets a 5 for service. A few recommendations on the dishes: a little mashed potatoes would be good for the filet (they go a little overboard. I ordered the filet rare+, but it was more medium rare. I know it's tough to get it exact, but I do get it rare+ at many other places that serve filet. The dessert was a bit light on the ice cream scoop for so much cake, and the Americano had too much water. All-in-All it was a nice visit. We'd give The Gladly a 7.5 out of 10 on food and 10 out of 10 for the server. read more

My son had the filet mignon, medium rare, as an entree, and loved it and the sides that accompanied it. We also tried all the mocktails and found them to be fun! I visited The Gladly for the first time . My lunch order was the seared scallops and the artichoke dip. While the quality of the food overall was very good, the portions were both very skimpy, especially given the price. As for the scallops, I'm guessing this was a full order (I.e., not a lunch portion) as the menu indicated both were the same price ($44).
