It did not disappoint & was my favorite restaurant out of all the places we ate @ There was quite a bit of a wait so we decided to sit @ the bar & the bartender was very nice & accommodating. We started off w/ an espresso martini & OMG that was the best espresso martini I've ever had! We ordered the tar tar, uni pasta & something else I forgot but they were all really good. Special mention for the uni pasta because the uni was so fresh & so buttery! My girl and I came to have dinner our first night in Solvang. We ordered the Hamachi to start and it was delicious. It was the fastest plate we have ever gotten. My girl ordered the black cod with sautéed spinach. That's it. No texture, nothing to contrast all the fat and acidity, the sauce was broken. I ordered the filet Mignon and it was undercooked. Everything was all fat and nothing to contrast it. Seems like the food is stuck in the 90's early 2000's. The food needs a facelift and more components. My boyfriend and I traveled to Solvang for the first time from LA and it has been amazing so far. A highlight of our trip was definitely visiting The Gathering Table for dinner. We both agreed it was one of the best meals we've had in a long time, and the service was impeccable! The hostess Jennifer and our server Adam, along with a couple other staff members made our experience so special with their kindness and consideration. The food (the items we actually got to try) was very good. Unfortunately we waited for almost two hours and only 2 out of 4 of our party got their food after waiting an hour and a half with one item coming but it was the completely wrong order and the other person never got their food at all. Three tables of people were sat, ordered, fed, and paid their check while we sat there waiting. People who were sat after us got their food as we were waiting. The wait staff is grotesquely under staffed. There was only one waitress serving over 10 tables with a couple of them being parties of 6 or more. Their waitress was stressed and dealing with angry customers and it was not fair for her to have to handle all those people. They ended up comping our entire meal and we walked out still having never received two out of the four meals. The waitress should walk out. The restaurant will be closed within the year read more

We just had dinner here this past Saturday and the food, service, and ambiance were great! We made reservations earlier in the week and glad we did since the wait for walk-ins was long - everything in Solvang was packed this particular weekend likely because it was the last weekend in December. We were there with two small children and the staff was super friendly and accommodating (including allowing us to park our stroller next to our table inside) and giving my son paper and crayons. It did help that our reservation was right when they opened so the restaurant wasn't full yet. The food came out fast and everything was delicious. The restaurant's decor is beautiful too. Totally recommend for a nice birthday dinner/date, or just a family dinner! read more

We found an article about this Asian Fusion restaurant in a magazine at our vacation rental in Buellton CA. We liked the idea of sharing our dishes with each other! We went for an early dinner. We ordered the Homescallion Focaccia, the Charred Cabbage, New Style Hamachi, Garlic Noodles, Local Miso Black Cod and the Citrus Soy Marinated Salmon. All of the dishes were delicious! We especially liked the Hamachi, the Cod, and the Salmon. All the fish were so fresh and well prepared. We also enjoyed the Garlic Chilli Crip that accompanied the Focaccia. Our server Monique was very personable and attentive. The service was excellent. Chef Kazali visited the tables and we enjoyed chatting with him. Highly recommend. We tried the restaurant while we were in Solvang visiting for the labor weekend as it is getting great reviews. They have a nice outside patio for dining. The menu was limited but looks exciting. We ordered a wine and took a long time to arrive . We ordered grilled cabbage with peanut sauce, Umi pasta and lamb sliders We thought that the entrees are small for the price they charge.The service is a big disappointment, we waited more than 45 minutes for the entree to arrive . We were there for Sunday breakfast, just once (and have no idea about their lunch, dinner or bar). It was sunny and warming, so we sat outside. I started with a café latté and it came out lukewarm, but otherwise okay. Ditto for my veggie omelette. I substituted tomato for potato and got a single slice. The toast wasn't toasty, but the butter was soft and their jam (raspberry?) was delicious. Instead of another latté, I just ordered coffee, but even that was served lukewarm. Our server was very nice, but the service was not. It seemed like the kitchen prepared everything ordered promptly, but then it just sat there awaiting delivery until it turned lukewarm. For those who prefer not to eat food hot, and wait until their coffee cools, I suppose such service would suit them just fine. My wife and I have been coming here for 9 years. We have always stopped here every year on our trip through Solvang. Every stop since 2017 has been a disappointment. The decline in service and in quality has been such a disheartening feeling. This will be the last time my family and I come here. Please do yourself a favor and beware of the bad service that is being provided and passed off as normal. Quaffable, but uh... far from transcendent -- Miles Raymond, "Sideways". I actually hate that movie but this quote describes perfectly our experience at this restaurant. We ate here before a SB Vintners event over at the cheese shop. Everything was perfectly fine if not terribly memorable. The best dishes were the hamachi and butternut squash soup, the worst dish was an absolutely awful garlic ramen. No response from server when we said we didn't like it although otherwise the service was fine. Wine list was interesting and locally sourced. Interior is lovely and the dining patio is nice except it's located on main drag. I'm Sideways on a recommendation. I won't rush to eat here again but your mileage may vary read more

Good: walking distance from our hotel, ambience, outdoor seating, food presentation and portions. Delicious in fact - we had the cod with miso and the skirt steak. Bad: service and lack of attention to details. Did not clear plates, did not ask to reorder drinks when glasses were empty during our meal. We would have enjoyed another round to complete our plates. Server did not offer to manage our concerns and merely moved onto presenting our check. We did speak with a floor manager about our experience and she was polite and assured us that she would address the issues. My bf and I celebrated our anniversary here. Ambience and the aesthetic of the restaurant was amazing! The staff were all very friendly. We were greeted with delight. We tried their burrata salad, mussels, miso cod, and sea urchin salad and they were all tasty. Our favorite dish was the mussels! The quality of the food was top notch! We also tried their coconut passion fruit panna cotta for dessert. If you love passion fruit, this is a must try. Went here last night to celebrate a birthday with my in laws for the first time and had a great experience. We tried multiple appetizers, gem and caesar salad, cauliflower, garlic noodles, a raw fish item. Then for our mains we had the lamb chops, hot and sour soup, and steak filets. The pumpkin cheesecake and chocolate cakes for dessert. The soup may have been my favorite item but everything was very well executed. Beautiful inside as well as lovely staff and service. read more

Got here at their busiest time without a reservation. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait and they'd take our number down and text us when something becomes available. 1 hr had passed and we still hadn't heard from the restaurant, so we went back and followed up and the receptionist realized there was table available. It was pretty clear she forgot about our party and did apologize. This made me a bit peeve cause at that point the restaurant had significantly slowed down. However, our waiter was great. She was friendly and helpful throughout our meal. She made great suggestions and even confirmed that our selections would be great. We ordered their seasonal salad the Dino Kale Salad which had squash, persimmons, kale, and pomegranate (bit heavy on the dressing and not enough persimmon). The hubby ordered the butternut squash soup (had a slight kick to this but was very creamy), I ordered the miso cod (extremely simple dish but deliciously executed, the cod was cooked very nicely which sat on a bed of spinach--nothing special there). For dessert we ordered the budino which was a matcha pudding. The flavor was good but the "pudding" felt like we were eating a matcha sauce. It was too loose and it didn't quite stay put on the spoon making it quite messy to eat. I'd be curious to eat here again, it's an Asian fusion restaurant with a very cute and clean vibe on the inside of the main restaurant and beautifully lit in their outdoor seating. read more

1 star for rude host. Terrible service from host. She even told me that she is gonna call cops on me. Okay here what happened. We visited today that restaurant with party of 4 adults and 2 kids 3 and 7 years old. Host didn't even tell me that she is gonna charge me large party fee for 21%. Honestly food was absolutely amazing, our server was absolutely amazing, and we was so happy that we really enjoyed our food and wanted to leave $100 tip which was 40% of a bill. But when I asked for a check and I saw an extra 21% large party fee which is nobody told that I have to pay that for 3 and 7 years old kids who wasn't even eating. I disagreed to pay that large party fee and I did request to remove $51. Host came up absolutely rude, she wasn't letting us leave, said she is gonna call cops. I told her that the food was amazing and I really wanted to leave $100 tip and come back for a breakfast. It took some time until she talked to someone and came with new check without that UNFAIR large party fee, without apologies and she said "NEVER COME BACK AGAIN". In the end SHE LOST $100 tip and I planned to come in the morning for breakfast probably with another $100 tip. Was it worth that? Absolutely not. I am putting 1 star only because of that and I do want to owner read all of this, pay attention and train his staff for better customer service. Once again food was 10 out of 10. read more

Cannot give a better review than I'm gonna give for this restaurant. If you read no further, just know you should fucking go. Walked by this place with five kids in tow and they welcomed us with open arms at a big beautiful table with a heat lamp. Which was nice because it was outdoors and a little bit chilly. Right away they stepped up the bar because we have a gluten allergy and they were more than willing to make sure everything was going to be safe for our celiac. And give her plenty of options. We ended up ordering a ton of appetizers, but that was a great decision for us. We started off with the cucumber salad, which was very, very din tai fung in flavor, but it was done on long spears of cucumber, which was super fun. We then got the roasted cauliflower and I would say this was probably my least favorite dish, but it was still good. You need to have the pesto sauce to make it just a little bit better. Next thing that we ordered for the garlic noodles, which is a side. They were delicious and garlicky and the side portion we were still able to share. We also ordered the steak tartar, which was served with garlic crisps. The garlic crisps are like asian fried style chips. And they were so garlicky and so crispy. Really the perfect mix for the tartar. I thought the tartar was good. Not the best I've ever had but flavorful and an excellent texture. Needed some salt. Then we ordered some french fries. The french fries were phenomenal. I'm sure they are hand cut or made in house and they were so crispy. They were tasty with excellent texture-do you know what I mean. Crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside- and we ended up ordering two sides of those because they were devoured. Did come with furikake but we opted to go with because of the five kids. All of the kids ordered the tomato miso soup. It was delicious. You can't really tell that it had the miso in it, but you could tell there was something different about it. Little tiny crispy croutons and an avocado Crema really complemented it. It was lick your bowl, clean, delicious, and all of our kids finished every ounce of it. We ended up with two mains. The duck and the steak. The duck was good with a really nice sweet potato purée and a soy reduction. Which was very salty so keep that in mind. We liked it, but it could be a little bit potent for some people I could think. The showpiece was the filet. First of all, it was cooked absolutely perfectly with a cool red center for medium rare. It had it so much flavor and uncitioness that... I couldn't stop licking my fork after taking a bite. It was tender and buttery, but also had a nice sear on the outside where it wasn't just like a mushy steak. You can tell they go out of the way to have a really nice cut of meat and just finish it so perfectly. There were three mushrooms that came with it and this beautiful, beautiful beautiful sauce. this was seriously one of the best steaks I've had in the restaurant. For desserts, we went with the espresso chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. There are big chunks of flaky sea salt in there that really just sent it to another level. It is moist and decadent, but not cloying and really you could not ask for a better dessert than that. I don't know what brand of ice cream they use, but it is creamy and luscious. It's probably Häagen-Dazs or something like that with the mouthfeel. We also got the coconut panna cotta with a passionfruit purée. If you like Panna cotta you'll never wanna eat it again anywhere else. Texture, flavor, temperature... The comparison between the slightly sour sauce with the Panna cotta was the biggest of chefs kisses. If you're in town I can PROMISE you will love the is place. One of the best places I've been. Note** chef said they had only been opened about two months. To have such a tight menu and such good execution I'm surprised. Also, I want to add to it that our server was so lovely. She was friendly and attentive as was ourbusser/servers assistant. Always had what we needed and came very quickly for things without feeling overbearing. They had no cream for coffee, they offered milk which the first cup was spoiled. They brought me a new cup and took that off the bill ($6.00.) Very pricey for the portion of the food you get. I like my bacon crispy, that was the best part of my meal. My daughter order wheat toast, they were out. My wife and I dined here for the first time on the 4th of July weekend after a recommendation from a close friend. It was hands down one of the best meals we've ever had. As soon as we sat down and started reading and absorbing the menu, we realized that it was going to be very difficult to settle on what to order as the entire menu was so inviting. Luckily our server Laura was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful on steering us in the right direction. I personally appreciate when a server gives you the extra nudge towards a specific dish. And she did. Laura was a wonderful server, warm, friendly and simply elevated the entire experience in what became a very memorable evening. Our dining experience was a plethora of tantalizing aromas, flavors, and presentations of beauty. We started with the new style hamachi and roasted cauliflower, both were hands down works of art in presentation and in taste. We didn't want those to end. Our entrees were the white sea bass and pan fried duck breast. Both incredible and bursting with so many wonderful flavors. The ginger-scallion sauce, the calamansi glaze. Additionally, the sidekick potatoes with the sea bass, and the onions with the duck need to be mentioned as stand outs of their own. They cannot be ignored here as we were floored by the preparation and flavors of both. Oh and we also ordered up a side of the roasted garlic noodles which did not disappoint. Yummy! For dessert, we shared the Budino which put simply- was heaven on earth! Someone should write a love song about this dessert. As for the ambience, it was simply warm and inviting. We had a comfy booth with a small candle, beautiful artwork and lighting throughout. At one point, the infamous Chef Budi came out to greet patrons which was a really nice highlight to the evening and where we could personally compliment and thank him and share that this was our first time dining here. And it certainly won't be our last. A special thank you to our server Laura but also to the entire staff and Chef Budi. You provided an unforgettable evening that we will continue to talk about and share with family and friends and we will make sure to recommend to those planning a visit to Solvang. If I could give this 0 stars I would. My boyfriend and I had a dinner reservation at The Gathering Table on a Saturday evening. We were seated immediately, but then completely ignored for over 45 minutes. No one came to our table until another staff member finally asked if we had been helped--we told them no. A tall blonde waitress eventually brought us water, but before that, both she and a male waiter looked at us several times and deliberately skipped over us while continuing to serve the tables right next to us, including a large party that had arrived after we did. When we were finally able to place our order, we waited almost another hour--still without our main course. During that time, we just watched the two servers cater attentively to the other tables around us, all while blatantly disregarding us. Eventually, we asked the male waiter to check on our food, and only then did the manager (a man in a brown blazer) come over to apologize for the inconvenience. When the food did arrive, it was underwhelming. My boyfriend ordered the Korean wings and I ordered the Picanha. My steak was cold, like it had been sitting out. When I mentioned this, the waitress quickly brought out a new plate within minutes, which honestly made me question whether it was just reheated in a microwave. To make matters worse, the party seated next to us was incredibly rude. One of the men got so close to me that I could feel his body brush against mine as he tried to let his wife out of the booth--without so much as an "excuse me." He even put his fingers right in front of my face while giving her directions to the bathroom. I was stunned and frustrated, trying to keep my composure. I just looked at my boyfriend and told him I felt like I was going to explode. He gently held my hand and helped me regulate myself so we could get through the meal. The manager apologized again and said he would take the Picanha off the bill. He also mentioned having a special treat for us after dinner. At that point, we were so uncomfortable we just wanted to leave. The waitress came back and offered us a dessert, which we politely declined. She insisted on giving us something to go and brought out a small brown paper bag. When we got back to our hotel and opened it, we found two messy, miniature chocolate donut holes with sprinkles in a small box. We looked at each other in silence, and just threw them away. As a Latina woman and a Latino man, it was impossible not to feel the racial undertones of our experience. Everyone else in the restaurant--including the guests receiving timely, friendly service--was white. So were the wait staff who continued to ignore us. The only person who showed any real concern was the manager, who seemed Hispanic, and while I believe his apology was genuine, it still felt like too little, too late. He could have done more, and he didn't. My boyfriend told me he had never experienced something like this before--being so openly disregarded in a public space. Unfortunately, I have. But that doesn't make it any easier to swallow. Being overlooked, made to feel invisible, and treated like an afterthought in a room full of people--it stays with you. This wasn't just bad service. It was a racially charged, uncomfortable, and disappointing experience. We won't be returning. read more

I've been to several Michelin Star restaurants and this one really impressed me more than any top notch restaurant I've visited. Jennifer was an incredible manager- made sure that my fiance and I were taken care of. Adam with the drinks was unbelievable- the best martinis you could ask for (and trust me we've had many - even in the fanciest places in LA). Was not disappointed was seated right away we were having a bit of a late brunch the place is very bright and comfortable. The server was attentive. My partner had a breakfast burrito and it was huge. I had the Steak Frites and the steak was perfectly cooked. I kept seeing people ordering the beignets (yes I had to look up how to spell that) and the peer pressure worked so I ordered them and they were fantastic. The food was so good we returned the next morning as well and while two pancakes seemed like a small order they did fill me up, and my partner was very happy with the omelet. Now for the food, we got the burrata salad and tom yum muscles from their specialty menu. Both were great. The muscles was my favorite dish of the evening. For our mains we got the black miso cod and the uni pasta. Flavors were good on everything but the QUALITY of ingredients they use, impeccable.
