We were walking around Ogunquit recently and it was getting pretty hot. I've been coming to Ogunquit almost my whole life and I had never been in the Front Porch although I've walked past it 586 times! So we decided to stop here for a drink and cool off. Our experience was ok. We were a party of three. We declined appetizers and went straight for dinner and drinks. We were served a basket of warm bread which was very tasty and satisfying. Two of us ordered Seafood Risotto. The shrimp and scallops were delicious and cooked perfectly. The risotto however missed the mark . My friends and I decided to frequent this the very popular restaurant in Maine , which also houses a Piano Bar upstairs . Even on a very rainy evening on a Saturday night around 7 pm , this restaurant and piano bar was packed . We had about an hour wait but it wasn't so bad as we passed our time upstairs listening to music, singing along and people watching . The service was slightly slow given the amount of people however the pleasant staff made up for it and the salmon entree was delicious with perfectly balanced flavor . Have been here before. We stopped in for a beverage at happy hour upstairs in the piano bar area. Great place to stop on our walk back to the hotel from the beach. Bartender was fantastic. While we only had a couple of drinks the service was great and while the menu looked appetizing we were not ready for food. Very nice happy hour, and based on the crowds that arrived by the time we left I assume many others agree this is a good place to stop and get a meal and or enjoy a cocktail and some live music. read more

It's the ambiance that drew me in. The food was fine- the calamari was very bland and the portion small for the price. I'm not blind to the fact it's dead center in Ogunquit so the prices are extremely marked up- but my Cesar salad with salmon the salmon was absolute perfection. Cooked exactly how I like without even asking for it to be so. The lobster roll was plentiful considering the $37 price tag and my friend was happy with it. What we truly loved was the piano bar upstairs where we ate and listened to the music. The only thing I was moderately concerned was capacity especially around the piano bar. Absolutely amazing place for a quick bite to eat! Came here on a Friday evening, the place was full but we were able to get a quiet seat by the bar. The service was prompt and the staff were extremely kind. Provided suggestions to newcomers about what to order from the menu, and were eager to answer any questions we had. We went for the burger and the chicken sandwich (pictured) and were pleasantly surprised! The sandwiches were packed with flavor and generous slabs of meat. The fries were quite tasty as well. To wrap up our super short Ogunquit vacay, hubs and I came here for dinner on our last night- especially since we thought we'd catch the 9:15 Piano performance. Plus we missed it on our first Summer of '20 Ogunquit trip. Located on the busiest, heavy-trafficked corner on Shore Rd. and Rt 1, Front Porch is a two-fer (or three-fer?) with a bar and dining room street entrance and their lounge on the top floor. You'll notice the (up) stairs leading to their live events lounge. But if you simply feel like you cannot stop yourself from throwing back a few drinks at the elbow-to-elbow packed bar, knock yourself out. Otherwise, the host will show you to your dinner table in the back. Ahhh much better. Front Porch's dining room looks cozy with the wood slat/beam ceiling and a dramatic stone fireplace. I almost saw a crackling fire on a cold winter day. The lighting was good but a warmer glow, would've given the room a cozier feel because it's all about the lighting. Even with the rare cocktails hubs and I have nowadays, when I want one, I'm hoping it hits ALL the notes- and these were a major letdown. So was my super tiny button mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat appetizer. Presentation, quality and taste were all off. Crabmeat? Nil. AND were super breaded. $15 down the drain. My husband enjoyed his Wedge Salad starter as well as his Brick Chicken with green beans and fingerling potatoes. What he liked most about it was all the garlic chunks in it that gave the meat even more flavor. My miso salmon, ramen bowl-type dish was a bit unusual but so worth it with the vegetable broth and all the veggies in it. I honestly couldn't finish it entirely. But I did make room for a Key Lime pie- which even though it isn't house-made, it had a good tang. I've been going to Ogunquit for most of my life and the Front Porch is my favorite. The new owner is amazing and has keep the great standard up. This year was our 5th year spending the holidays in Ogunquit and the first year that we couldn't spend it at the Front Porch. The reservation process was awful. I called a week prior and it stated on their phone that they didn't take reservations. I went to their website and there was no information for reservations. I waited until we arrived in Ogunquit and the sign on their door said to email them. Who emails for a reservation?! I was told (while having drinks at The Crew) that there was only a 4pm available and they were closed for Christmas when they are usually open. Stopped in for an early dinner and to catch the show. We arrived early as the Piano Bar till 4 so sat in the crowded bar waiting till we could go upstairs. The hostess came over promptly at 4 and provided us a seat close to the piano so we wouldn't miss anything. We ordered the chicken under a brick (same as our first visit as it was so good) and the Porch Burger with bacon. The chicken again was superb. The skin was incredibly crispy and the chicken moist and tender. Definitely a fish that you should try. The burger was cooked as requested and was very juicy and flavorful. The bacon was extra crispy which was great. A side order of French fries that were very crispy. The entertainment was awesome, great songs, jokes and banter with the audience. This is probably the liveliest spot in all of Ogunquit. As Ogunquit is very LGBTQ+ friendly, this bar and the saloon upstairs has a piano-bar singalong most nights and you'll hear the tunes downstairs on the street. The night I was there they were singing Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" which was quite a bit of fun. The bar and resto downstairs are also very lively. I had their mussels with French fries and it was perfect. My waitress was nice, the other patrons were also friendly and the location can't be beat. What a magical place! Service: Our server was knowledgable about the menu, full of energy, and super attentive. His high bubbly personality is unmatched and I'm surprised I forgot his name cause I would never forget him. At one point, the owner Scott even came to greet us and thanked us for coming in. Vibe: the simple decor and choose your own adventure vibe is awesome. There's cozy bar seating and tables on main level, outdoor patio:porch tables, outdoor tent, or the main upstairs dining room. I appreciate the high tops tables all over so you don't miss any of the action. Covid: all staff is wearing masks, tables are a nice distance apart, and everywhere cleaned often. They even encouraged social distancing while waiting in line for your table. Entertainment: I can't say enough. We didn't know if we wanted to be outside with Kim or upstairs with Keith. Both have incredible voices and know sooooo many songs. We tried to stump Keith and Ask for some more urban song and he laughed and did them all. We had dinner here on Friday evening in the garden. Only reason for the 2 stars is because everyone was very nice and their oysters were delicious. We waited a very long time for everything, it seemed they had one waitress for the entire outside which is ridiculous. It was over 20 mins before we got drinks and that included a plastic cup to give our child water in. Put it this way I went to a store down the road and came back before our drinks were delivered. Then when we got them they were very watery tasting. We got espresso martinis. I also noticed some tables had bread and some didn't. Eventually I asked for bread when she brought the drinks because we were so hungry and she said she would go see if there was any in the oven. So you have to ask for the bread I guess? We also got the bang bang shrimp appetizer which included a few baby shrimp. For the price definitely not worth it and was cold when we got it. For entrees we got the New York sirloin (if I had known the price $42 I would've never gotten it) and the Mac and cheese with chicken added. Both the steak and the chicken had ZERO seasoning. For $42 my steak better be perfect and it was flavorless and on the tougher side. Even the accompanying mash and asparagus were also bland. I tried to use the salt on the table but it was gross looking. I get the humidity does things to salt but you can clean the container. We didn't finish our food. Even though we were still hungry and wanted more drinks we just wanted out of there. Our 180 bill was not worth it at all. Had some really good meals at other places in the area. This review is 5 stars for the first floor restaurants and 2 stars for the piano bar. We kept trying to go to the piano bar and it was usually too crowded. We finally got to go on a Sunday afternoon and the pianist played an entire hour of songs from the 1930s-50s. Our requests were ignited. There was no variety to the music and it was really disappointing. We did find the service good and the sweet potato fries were great. We ended up going to the bar and having some good drinks, fried calamari, and stuffed mushrooms, all of which were great. So maybe we just had bad luck but I don't like the piano bar and only enjoyed the downstairs. read more
