We have had a small house with in walking distance from Maine street and are up in ogt at least twice a month for five days each time December practically the whole month came up yesterday the town is closed. A lot of renovations for businesses etc and we have a dear friend we always see he suggested Maine street. Snow storm went anyway Was told by a woman at the door it was a special event lesbian tea dance and a charge I said we are here to meet a friend at the regular very empty bar She still pushed to get in for the cover charge of 10.00 to get in what she didn't get from management was the actual bar which also had on,y two people was not charging to pay money and have just drinks with friends fast forward we went in talked to the bar tender she said your fine the other woman came back and said it's private you have to check in and pay. The bartender at the bar said wrong. We went to meet our friend fine then we had a very sweet bartender Lucus serve us and I proceeded to tell him that we almost left because the information was not given to the door person who three times came to us and said we had to check in because of a special event As I was relateing the issue a man behind the bar who could really help himself on oZempic and Valium interrupted my conversation and went off on how she was just telling me about the special event that had 20 people he got so over the top I thought his heart was not going to be able to take his outburst I just said never mind as the evening and I'm talking two hours. The "event" dwindled and now the place has 6 people in the bar and maybe twenty women doing karaoke I think you call it that. The sweet bartender was busting a hump back and forth and padding ton bear without the cute coat hat and well anything cute never asked if we wanted another drink how are you anything. Lucus came back help the three of us out while the other person just stood a lot I know Maine street owners do a lot for the community and I'm glad they are here in ogt but I really find that communication sucks and if someone is either managing or just working does have the right to express their opinions if needed but know the facts before you make an ass out of yourself , lose customers who used to come in and stopped but tried again and then realized why we cater to that establishment. So many more places in ogt for a nice time we have so many wonderful staff members at the front porch the old village inn the front yard five o shored road and the crooked pine Paddington was not professional not business savy and actually my conversation with the very sweet bartender was none of his concern read more

What a fun bar ! We got to enjoy the Dueling Divas show and for $20, I can't remember the last time I was so entertained! The bartender was great , made me a solid Jack Daniels and Ginger ale , and my friends ordered a hard cider that came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The room where we saw the show was cozy yet comfortable. We got a great view of the stage and could hear the performers quite well . One of the few gay bars left in the area. With live entertainment, DJ, Dance Floor, two outdoor decks and robust drink options this is a great bar for the LGBTQIA+ community. The Drag Shows are great -- Dueling Drag Divas is an awesome show. The DJ music is pumping on the deck around T-Dance time and again for dancing in the later evening hours. Always a lot of fun. Yes, it can be a bit of a hit or miss of who is there on any given night. Times of the years where it is more locals it is definitely more laid back and fun. But, responding to some other feedback on Yelp -- Yes, at times it feels invaded by a bachelorette party, but all are welcome if they behave and are respectful. The same is true in most gay bars these days. I would prefer that they are not there as well at times when they dominate the space and get a bit obnoxious and overbearing. The owners of MaineStreet were the ones out front of MOGA - Make Ogunquit Gay Again trying to bring more inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community in Ogunquit and raising the visibility of the community in Ogunquit which was getting washed away a bit. Let's show MaineStreet some community love by supporting the establishment. It was a long closure during the pandemic and everything is working its way back. read more

The staff there, especially one guy who styles himself the "manager" is very mercurial (he may be the manager, but I've heard him referred to as a bartender too) . He tends to fly into rages based on overheard snippets of conversation or draws conclusions about people based on looks. With all the people who go there, the odds of being targeted by this man are small, but no business should have a front of house person with such unpredictable mood swings. If someone tells you they got thrown out for no reason, publicly humiliated for a disability, or yelled at for a trivial thing, believe them. We're new to New England and we love to dance. We discovered Maine Street while looking for a dance venue online. We had so much fun the two times we went. We'll be going back again. I didn't think I liked DJ dancing but this is beyond. It's nonstop dance party with friendly strangers and we don't drink alcohol. We were paid $20 and several others bought cranberry juice for us for our entertaining presence. We were photographed and videoed each time. MaineStreet is a hard venue to review. I absolutely love what Mainestreet stands for and encourages. It is a more than gay friendly nightclub. It used to be a gay club but since it's renovation/expansion and Covid, it's really become another very gay friendly night club. In the summer, a huge crowd from Boston and beyond visit. It's very fun. In the non-summer months, MS relies on local Maine talent, and unfortunately the good eye candy it's as ideal. This place is probably the WORST bar I've been to in my life staff wise! I also live in NYC so there's a fair share of crap shoot bars. READ THE STARS! ITS 3 FOR A REASON! We just left and the only nice staff member is the guy at the front desk, the place is patrolled by a round, little "Karen" who is "Security". I arrived with a mug of water but my friends had spiked seltzer's in their mugs because we were walking around town. We waited at the table they gave us for 20 minutes to get any service. I actually had to go back up to the guy at the front and ask how to get a drink and he had to get a server. Then after the 20 minutes they took our to go mugs in their arm pits *not corona friendly* and told us we can get them when we leave which is fine. We then got our check and "Karen" said that she emptied out our to go mugs in which she didn't tell us until we got the check. (Even mine with water). I would have definitely left the bar in a heart beat just to skip this head ache of I had known. I wouldn't recommend this bar to my worst enemy. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Horrible experience with incredibly rude and emotional staff. Worst I've ever encountered and that's coming from a Bostonian. Kicked my friend and I out over saying to my friend "oh we don't plan to be here late". We were found by a security guard who said we couldn't stay - when we asked her why we were being asked to leave she responded, "I don't know. You just have to go." Later when we asked the bouncer at the front why we were being told to leave she said "You ran your mouth so you can go." This never happened. We were calm, did not raise our voices or use profanities, simply said to each other we wouldn't be there late and were told we can "lose the attitude" which felt like a parent speaking to a child quite honestly. As an individual who work's extensively in the industry I am shocked and stunned that such an unwell person is allowed to exercise their authority so emotionally charged and ruin multiple patrons vacations (as I see that there are about 4 other reviews from the same night I went describing a similar experience). This all lines up with the 62 other reviews of erratic and unreasonable staff. However Front Porch across the street has an incredible team and is far more sanitary. I do not recommend Maine Street to anyone trying to enjoy their vacation and not have their night ruined for no reason. Do better! read more

I was really excited to try out mainestreet with my friends but unfortunately the bouncer ruined the experience for us and we will not be going back. He let everyone in our group of 10 in but told me I was too intoxicated even though I had less to drink than everyone else. He also said I was "wobbling" when I clearly wasn't and had other people vouch for me. One of my friends dropped his wallet while in line and got let in. When my boyfriend asked him why I couldn't go in he arrogantly replied that he has been there for "28 years and makes the rules". At that point I knew it was useless to reason with him as he just wanted to abuse the little power he has. He then proceeded to push my bf down the ramp and into the railing (which he bled from). When my other friend asked him to take another look at me he rudely yelled at us to leave. I think I was singled out simply because I am a 22yo small, younger looking woman and after reading other reviews it sadly looks like I'm not the only one who's had this experience. It's ironic that an establishment that should stand for acceptance chooses to be rude, close-minded, and discriminatory toward prospective patrons. I'm glad we spent money at the leavitt theatre instead- the staff there were amazing! read more

Ogunquit Maine maybe small, There is nothing small about this place. I felt like I was tucked away in a hidden gem Vegas style! The ambiance & decor was great, 2 levels of Sexiness with an outside patio as well lit with fire pits. I arrived here bc everyother spot was jammed packed around 8. Bartenders were friendly, drinks were perfect price & hella strong! I ordered "Tyler Margarita" It stays open late with a late night menu. Great entertainment for all drag show, separate dance floor, outside patio, upstairs access...Perfect to end my Maine trip!! read more

Went here last night for the Dueling Drag Divas show and drinks. The show is an hour long, $15 admission, and though I wouldn't go out of my way to see the show again, 90% of it held my attention and kept me laughing. Two people in our group got the "Sucker Punch" drink, $10, and extremely strong. The wife got a Redbull and Vodka, it was also extremely strong. We must have been there on a good night because we've never had drinks this good here before. They were advertising the Rum Bucket on the screens before the show, when we tried ordering them we were told we needed to go to the upstairs bar for those, so stupid. Don't advertise it if you're not going to serve it at all of the bars within your establishment! After the drag show, they cleared out the chairs and the dancing started. It was uncomfortably packed with hundreds of people in both dance rooms. It was nice to have a bar/club play Madonna music, it almost felt like the 80s again. The upstairs deck was nice, but also packed. The outside deck downstairs is filled with tables and chairs which makes it hard to get through if you're trying to get to the outside bar or the smoking section. read more

Stood at counter for 15 minutes before finally saying something to get a drink (they weren't that busy for a Saturday night either). The glowing reviews on here I'm convinced are employees or ghost profiles. $11 for a standard drink is not what I call a good time. Especially when served with such a horrid attitude. We had a blast here. Exactly what my boyfriend and I were looking for while on vacation. We went to the drag show first which was $10 a person and very fun!!! Then we went over to the bar side and hungout on the patio for awhile. We met a bunch of great people too. The bar service was good, it was packed so of course it took awhile to get a drink, but that is any bar on a Saturday night. Came to this bar for the first time on December second, around 9:30 pm. When I first came up to the bar, and had a seat I thought "Oh, maybe it's not their peak hour yet." There were two other small groups sitting at the bar as well, totaling out to maybe eight people including myself. Needless to say it was easy to order a drink right away. The bartender came over pretty soon, he was attentive, young, and energetic from the start. I threw him for a loop by ordering a drink he'd never heard of before. Fortunately he wasn't worried in the slightest, not only did he accept the challenge, he passed with flying colors on the delivery! His great service, and energy was actually what kept me, and my partner around for another hour; and I was very thankful for it when 10:30 rolled around. Around 10:30 pm, the late nighters started rolling in. People filtered in for another hour or so and when all was said, and done, there were maybe thirty people in the bar mingling, and having a good time. Keep in mind this is winter time, and locations like these definitely thrive in the peak of summer (can't wait to come back during the peak season!). The drinks were fierce, the music was great, and the people were varied, and friendly. The cherry on top of the night was without a doubt our bartender Jayce! He knew right when you come by and refresh our drinks, and watching him run the bar it was clear the other patrons were appreciative of his great service as well. The only reasons I wouldn't give a full five stars yet, are that I was foolish enough to come through on a Sunday night, in the middle of the dead season when there aren't any events going on; and that it was fairly cold at the bar. If I could change anything at all, I'd say increase the temperature like ten degrees, and visit during an event. Even with that all in mind, the experience was awesome! The atmosphere was great, and I will definitely be coming back! I'll have to update this review in the future once I really get a feel for their events like drag shows. read more

They gave my guy roommate's credit card to some random girl, leaving him stranded for money for the rest of our trip. While the bartender did apologize, he did not seem overly concerned about it, and kind of shrugged it off, saying it was not his fault as there was a group of people trying to pay off tabs and it was busy. Yes, things can get crazy at a bar at closing time, but come on, it's off season right now. It's going to get way busier and you need to get on your game. Also, he has an obvious guy name - there is no excuse to let a girl take his card. They did not announce that everyone should come pay off their tabs, and instead just left my and my friend's cards on the bar. Anyone could have walked by and picked them both up. While this place was fun in the beginning, having my money and credit cards safe is more important. I will not be returning here, and cannot ever see myself recommending this to anyone.
