After my appointment, I went back and read the negative reviews, and honestly, those matched my experience much more closely. The first red flag was that I walked in to ask about pricing, then left to think about it, and one of the employees actually came out into the parking lot to convince me to come back. That immediately felt off. The second red flag was that I asked for almond-shaped acrylics, and the technician immediately started putting tips on without ever asking what length I wanted. He just assumed I wanted them short. By that point I was already committed, so I just went with it. As the service went on, I also noticed the salon wasn't as clean as I would expect. There were leftover decorations up and everything was just dirty and had stains on it, and debris around the work area, and it just didn't give me a great feeling. To be fair, the pedicure came out really nice. They opened what appeared to be a sealed pack of sanitized tools, which I appreciated, and I'm happy with how my toes turned out. The acrylic nails, though, were another story. The technician left noticeable gaps between the acrylic and my cuticles, as well as along the sides of my nails. They're also extremely thick. My boyfriend, who normally doesn't notice nails at all, actually asked if they were press-ons because they looked so bulky and fake. It's only been about a week, and because of the large gap near the cuticle, they already look like they've grown out for several weeks. I know sometimes a last-minute appointment is all you can get, and that's why I stayed. But if I could do it over again, I would have gone somewhere else. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this salon based on my experience.

My very first appointment she talked about nail health and I honestly learned so much. I've been coming back ever since. I have NEVER not been completely satisfied with my nails and the experience. I look forward to coming in and catching up with Rachel and leaving with nails I can't stop staring at. She is an artist through and through and I love showing off her work to everyone I know. I get basic gel (or at least I think it is) and my nails always last - I go about 4 weeks between appointments. I've also gotten by nails done by Grazziela, another artist at Vacation Nail Collective. She too did an amazing job! I've been meaning to book a pedicure with her and have been eyeing her books. Just need to commit! The location is also super cute. There's parking either on the street, the lot behind the building, or a parking structure about a block away (don't worry it's free). If you park in the parking garage there is a very cute cat that lives in the nearby houses and it will likely come out and greet you if you walk by (10/10 experience). If you're hungry or thirsty after your appointment there are SO many good cafes and restaurants near by. Since the artists here are so talented, their books fill up fast, so book quickly! These aren't even square and she kept cutting the side of my toe nails and filing them back when they were too short and hurt. I've been coming. Here for a long time this is probably the worst shaping I've ever gotten here. I could have done my own shaping better than that at home. Just ridiculous *** it was around 5-7 weeks since my last pedicure so my toes were not "really short" besides the big toe that broke. I added another picture to show that she was filing into my toe nails after cutting them super short as short as she could get them and made half of them round and tiny. She also cut the sides of the nails which you aren't supposed to do due to infection and hang nails. I asked her not to do this. there was no reason for her to cut the sides of my nails on one foot and not the other leaving with me with uneven toes. I appreciate the response but I feel that there should be an attempt to fix the situation instead of making excuses or insinuating that I'm making this up.

I have not had acrylic nails in forever and was looking to treat myself for vacation. I did some research and really wanted to find someone who could do the coffin nail shape. I found this gem and made an appointment. When I got to the salon it was clean and professional. I saw Nancy and she was soooo nice! She told me about the weekly specials and we chatted about several different things. She made my experience better than I could have imagined. Her attention to detail and precise application won me over. My nails are perfect, not too thick but still sturdy enough to do what I need to do. I alway remember my nails being sore after getting them done in the past and I did not have that with Nancy. I will definitely be a returning client! Very reasonable prices! read more

However one index nail has developed a split that stops growing at a point and breaks. My clear enamel no longer did the job. But a lady at Zara, months ago, fixed it! I believe she put gel on that nail because it was shinier and higher than the others. It lasted a long time. I returned recently and requested the same thing. Did not get it. And there was a language barrier so although I did ask why they had not done the gel that I had been very clear to request when checking in, it was too late. And they seemed to sincerely believe that what they had done would fix my problem and two ladies (check-in person and the person who did the work) did their best to explain to me what had actually been done to that nail (one kept using the word "foundation"). Unfortunately not only did that nail split within only a couple of days, causing me to have to clip it, ALL the nails began losing their clear coat in layers. Layers that are peeling and catching on things like hair. I feel like they tried but either did not want to do what I asked or thought their way was better for a reason I never understood due to a language challenge. I will not return.

I arrived on time and was seated in a pedicure chair, where I waited practically an entire hour before anyone even started my service. In total, I spent about THREE HOURS there for a simple pedicure and a gel builder fill with one solid color -- no designs. They tried to make up for the wait by telling me they were giving me a $15 discount and wouldn't charge me for the "chrome" on my toes. I was confused because I didn't get chrome. I literally showed the front desk girl my toes and asked, "What chrome?" She looked at them and said, "Oh." Then I realized my total was still $190 : the exact same price I had been told BEFORE they supposedly gave me the discount. At that point, I honestly didn't have the energy to question it further. My time had already been wasted enough. That is ultimately why I'm giving this place 1 star. Time is money, and if you accept an appointment for a certain time, there should be some level of urgency and respect for that person's schedule. I would have genuinely preferred for them to simply say, "Sorry, we don't have time to fit you in today," rather than have me sit there waiting and spend three hours on two basic services.
