You need to be hungry as it's a lot of food. I love the 3 sauces it comes with - queso, hot sauce, and salsa verde. It also comes with a side - I got the moon dust potatoes but grits or fruit is also an option. - Chorizo Hash - my husband devoured this!! - Kids Belgian waffle - our daughter loved this! My wife and I took my sister-in-law and our kids for breakfast. Everyone had a great meal. They had a great variety of menu items. It's not your average breakfast spot. It's a little something different for everybody. The only reason I didn't give it a five star was because the meal was not as warm as I would have liked it to be. We went for brunch on a Friday and it was busy so I can only imagine what weekends are like there and after eating there I understand why! It's adorable inside with sunflowers painted on the walls and fun space stuff on the ceiling. The tables can be a little tight together but the staff was helpful with rearranging to make sure people were comfortable. The food is amazing! Portions are good, prices are average but worth it my opinion. They do offer a variety of coffee drinks and nonalcoholic drinks as well as mimosas. I have been coming here for over 10 years. Well I had an unsettling experience here. I ordered Avocado Toast with 2 poached eggs hard/well done. The eggs came undercooked. I alerted the waitress. This happened two times. I asked to speak to the manager. I explained the problem. She said well you ate the avocado toast. I said well I ended up eating my friend's grits and chicken sausage because I was so hungry. She then replied well I'll take off the price of the eggs. This was an unacceptable response. The biscuits and gravy were also unique. Made with chicken instead of regular sausage- I'm a huge B&G fan so this change up was not my cup of tea but if you like the idea go for it. Grits are a must here! The grits have incredible flavor. Also the peach oatmeal pancake has great flavor and is worth getting. The service is very quick and you get your food fast. This is probably my favorite breakfast spot overall in the south Charlotte area (which is the only area I frequent typically haha). The menu boasts plenty of options, from typical southern staples to slightly healthier fares. I recently came in on the morning of my birthday and was so happy with my chorizo egg scramble! It was delicious and packed with so much flavor. Their coffee has left a little to be desired if you like it strong, but they are such a pleasant waitstaff and the atmosphere is so fun so it pretty much all makes up for it. We were in Charlotte to escape the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Wanted to stop here for a quick brunch before heading back home to no power. So first off it took the waitress forever to come over. She finally came and took drink orders and then took forever to come back. (She was busy arguing with be people beside us regarding missing items) She finally back comes over and takes our order except for my preteen who can't decide. Waitress huffs off saying she'll be back when they've decided. And then we wait and wait and wait. She's outside talking to two patrons on the patio dining area. I wait and wait - she's still yucking it up with them. (Not taking an order). I step out the door and wait for an opening to speak. When she saw me she said, "what?!" I replied "I just wanted to see if you're coming back to take our order." "I'm taking their order! I'll get yours after I'm done with them!" She responds with a hateful tone. I turned around and told my kids to come on, we're leaving. What was already a poor experience became a no go when she spoke to me like that. She's lucky she didn't speak to my SO or kids that way. Decided to grab breakfast after competing a local 5k. Got here around 9:30 and surprisingly it wasn't packed. We were able to be seated right away. The seating is tight and there's even signage about no strollers, and other large items. I got the smoked salmon scramble with grits and a biscuit. Food came out quick and it was great. The grits were creamy, the smoked salmon was great, and the biscuit was perfect with the apple jelly. Our server was very nice and attentive. I've found my favorite local brunch spot. Flying Biscuit hasn't disappointed me on any of my initial four visits. We were seated quickly and everyone is so friendly. There's an older gentleman who serves as the host and he is always so welcoming. It's my wedding anniversary so hubby wanted a spot with good mimosas to start our morning right. Seasonal mimosas here have been a hit every time. Today I had the Caramel apple mimosa. It was Christmas in a stemless glass! Such a great choice. For my brunch, I had the pancake tacos (my second try) and substituted the potatoes for the biscuit. You MUST have one of their biscuits. They rival my mom's and grandmom's. This is a long overdue review from me, I'm in my twenties and I've been coming to this restaurant since I learned to talk. From day one this place has housed some of my fondest memories, from eating sugar cubes at 7 to sweet tea and life rants at 20. The staff has always been wonderful, many of them have stuck around for quite some time, they're the faces I look forward to seeing on a Sunday morning. They are beyond kind, unbelievably personable, and fun to chat with (I'm looking at you Tiff, Sully, Nat, Leo, Charlie, Mason, and the rest of you know who you are). Flying Biscuit is always a vibe. This one on Rea Rd. (vs Park Rd.) is the more chill of the two. Music wasn't as fun (less R&B and hip music) but the Ballantyne area is more laid back. The food was still good, BUT the grits at this location were too runny and loose for my tastes. The collard greens were also a low. Too much vinegar and not enough flavor to offset it. Hands down one of the best place in Ballantyne for breakfast. We've encountered a few and the staff, atmosphere and biscuits makes One of Ballantyne's hidden gems. The parking lot is small but the restaurant makes up for it in size. You can generally expect a long line on a usual weekend but it moves fast does the staff knows the hustle and bustle of breakfast. We've tried a lot of their dishes from the Hot Dirty Bird to their stuffed waffles. The hot dirty bird is probably best described what happens when chicken and waffles has a love child with biscuits and gravy. Try the Apple butter with your biscuits, you will thank me later. Do not order the Flying Biscuit Breakfast. The biscuit was hardcore over cooked, it literally cracked in half when I bit it. The sausage was way overcooked as well, almost burnt. I was able to grab a seat as someone left after waiting ~ 15 minutes. HOWEVER ... sitting at the bar does have cons. I experienced to-go orders being placed in front of me, customers waiting for their to-go orders standing behind me and customers signing their check on the table top directly beside my food. So, if you cannot handle those things ... wait for a table. I ordered: Egg-Stravaganza $12.99 The "creamy dreamy grits" are just that and a MUST!!! The biscuit was perfect - and you HAVE to put their cranberry apple butter on top. I fully enjoyed everything on my plate - so much that I placed a to-go order online as I finished my meal inside. This used to be a go to for breakfast. Was expecting the same solid showing of grits w/the can't miss scrambled and bacon. The bacon was gristle and way crispy. The kind of crispy that when broken apart pieces flew across the table. It was like eating straight up fat. The scrambled was lackluster to say the least. I may be picky but whole milk or cream are my favs to scramble the eggs and these weren't that. The Flying Biscuit is where I started eating grits. They used to be loaded w/cheesy flavor. Best home style brunch!! The grits will keep me coming back time and time again! The wait was around 20 minutes and they stuck to the quoted time. They take your number so you can pop into the surrounding shops If you choose and they will call you when your table is ready. Once seated the menu is on the table top as pictured or you can scan and review on your phone. This is nice to have a hands free option these days. We started with a Bloody Mary which was great! The rim was salty and flavorful and the consistency was not thick which is exactly how I like mine! We ordered pretty quick and the food came out hot and fresh!! My eggs Benedict with sweet ham, perfectly cooked eggs over medium all over an English muffin was bursting with flavor. It took me back to my upbringing on Sunday mornings! The grits.. y'all the grits. These might be the best breakfast grits I've ever had. They were so thick and creamy and smooth and every adjective that goes with perfect grits you can imagine. The biscuit with the sweet apple butter was like dessert and I wish I had room after my main breakfast for two of them. I am so glad to have discovered this spot as it will be a new favorite! I know I'm gonna get hate for this... But I feel like if your name says biscuit, you need to have one that is melt in your mouth, falls apart delicious...& these biscuits are not. The chicken sausage gravy is some of the best I've ever had! So that makes up for it slightly. I also tried both pancake flavors and was not impressed.
