    White Chocolate Bread Pudding Pancakes

Very mixed feelings. From the moment we walked in we were greeted and then served by the same person who we could tell was having a bad day and did not want to be there. The sad part is it was our anniversary brunch and out of all places we picked here. We all have bad days though so I guess it happens. Later during our visit their system went down which probably aided in her being even more annoyed during the course of our visit. I am still giving them 3 stars because my creamy spiced latte was tasty and my gulf shrimp omelet was very good and the eggs were not overcooked. The inside ambiance is a good size with indoor and outdoor seating and although I added myself to the yelp waitlist they do not do weekday waitlist just fyi (which is fine because it doesn't seem necessary). Also the white chocolate bread pudding pancake is nice but get the sauce on the side because it is very sweet.

My friends and I stopped into Ruby Sunshine for brunch and had such a great time. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and it was delicious. We sat outside, which was perfect since there was plenty of shade. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait long, and the service was excellent.

Thank you Yelp, Ashley and Ruby sunshine for this great experience. The food was so good! The tots and beignets were so yummy and filling! Kiddo got the cinnamon swirl pancakes and those were great as well. Our server was so nice, I wish I had noted her name.

I had such an amazing time with my girls. Our waitress was just amazing. The food isn't what it was like the first time but it was still good nonetheless. The wait wasn't as long as I thought it would be

Omg breakfast was amazing!! This spot never disappoints. The food was fast and delicious. Served hot and flavorful. Rae did an amazing job with the recommendations. The host was friendly and welcoming! I can't wait to come back!!

Ruby Sunshine started off just okay. We were told there would be a 20-25 minute wait for a party of eight, but it turned into almost an hour. They also close at 2:00 PM, and we arrived around noon, so the extended wait was disappointing. Once seated, we were greeted by a friendly server, though it was loud and I didn't catch her name. The kids had French toast and the Little Champion (eggs, bacon, and fruit). Unfortunately, the French toast was very hard and overcooked. The shrimp and grits had great flavor and were very enjoyable. The chicken sandwich was overcooked on the outside but moist on the inside, so I removed the breading. The fried green tomatoes were good and flavorful. We ordered beignets, but they never came out; however, our server removed them from the bill without issue. Overall, it was an okay visit. Hopefully, they can improve on the wait time and a few food issues.

Went here on a Sunday when there was a home game whoops! Very hard to find parking on this day. They have a small lot attached, but we ended up finding street parking. When we got in the building it was very crowded, lucky we had a reservation ready to go! Very popular spot and I can see why. The brunch was a classic, many vast offerings from sweet to savory. They had mimosas , Bloody Marys, etc. the coffee was also good - a huge plus. I got avocado toast with a poached egg on top, fruit and some sausage. My friend got grits and it was reportedly excellent! Our waitress was so sweet, she made us feel like friends and really made the experience feel way more personalized and caring. They were so busy, but food did not lag timing wise or lack with any flavor or taste. Atmosphere was busy but a good vibe. Overall, would definitely be back - but not on game day (I guess unless I'm going to the game)

Went here on a Sunday for brunch. It was really busy, but the line was warranted with how good it was! I'm not a huge tater tot fan, but I thought the loaded tater tots were incredible. The BLT was pretty average, but the French fries were amazing. Great seasoning on them. It had a lot more seating than I thought it would from the outside. We sat on the patio and it was perfect for a nice sunny day

Started my morning with a lavender Paloma because, apparently, I'm the kind of person who drinks tequila before noon now. It was on the sweeter side, but honestly, it was early -- coffee felt too responsible. Then came the main event: chicken with French toast bites. Let me just say... whoever came up with this combo deserves a raise and possibly a small monument. The chicken? Crispy perfection. The French toast bites? Golden, crunchy, and living their best life. The syrup tied it all together like a love story I didn't know I needed before 10 a.m. If you're hunting for a weekday brunch spot where you can justify day drinking and eat food that makes you want to high-five the chef, this is the place. Highly recommend -- just be prepared to question why you ever bothered making breakfast at home.

This has become my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in the Charlotte area! From the flavored mixed drinks to the various French toast dishes and traditional sides, everything I've tried here has been a great choice, leading me to explore during each visit. Staff is knowledgeable about the items and always very courteous and patient while you're trying to decide what to order. The restaurant itself is not too small or big and the efficiency of the staff allows many patrons to come in and out even during high traffic times. It's located just a short way from Bank of America stadium with a lot of places nearby in the uptown area, and a stop here could easily kick off a great day of activity!

This place was really nice. We wanted brunch and somewhere we hadnt tried before. This place was near by and didnt have a wait. Parking is limited but we were able to find street parking near by. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the hostess and the warm sunny interior. Everything looked amazing, so I got the Trifecta to sample a little bit of multiple things. I'm so glad I did because everything was good. Yet, if I were to rank them from best to good, it would be the chicken st. Charles, bayou shrimp, and then the egg cochon

The Trifecta (I already cut it up before I remembered to take a picture lol)
    Katie R.

I came with my best friend and we couldn't decide with eggs Benedict to get so we got all 5! I appreciate having the option to try multiple. Honestly I don't think we could've picked a favorite but the shrimp one since it's so unique. Super cute inside and the service was great. From one out of towner to another, definitely put this on your list!

Review for Amélie's French Bakery & Café…read more As a transplant from the West Coast--specifically San Francisco, where high-quality bakeries and true French pâtisseries are plentiful--I was genuinely excited to try Amélie's after moving to Charlotte. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, and after giving it more than one chance, it's simply not a place I plan to return to. The concept feels more like a themed destination than a serious bakery. The interior is whimsical and eye-catching, with decorative elements like a faux Eiffel Tower, which clearly appeals to visitors looking for a fun atmosphere. However, if you've spent time in authentic French cafés or bistros, you know the real charm is understated elegance--wood, mirrors, tile, and craftsmanship. This felt more theatrical than authentic. Where it fell short for me was the food. For a place calling itself a French bakery and pâtisserie, the absence of classic laminated pastries was surprising. I was expecting staples like Napoleons, kouign-amann, or beautifully executed croissants. What I found instead were pastries that looked average and lacked the refinement and technique you'd expect from a true pâtisserie. On my visits, I tried: * A leek soup that was supposed to be cream-based but tasted thin and under-seasoned--more like warm vegetable water than a properly developed soup. * A baguette sandwich with fig, Brie, and apple that sounded promising but was poorly executed. The bread was overly hard, and the balance of ingredients felt off, making the sandwich less enjoyable than expected. I gave Amélie's two chances, hoping the second visit would change my impression. It didn't. To be fair, the café clearly has a loyal following and works well as a social or casual gathering spot. But if you're specifically looking for high-quality French pastries or refined bakery craftsmanship, there are stronger options in the Charlotte area. Personally, I'd recommend: * Renaissance Patisserie for more traditional European-style pastries * Paris Baguette at Rea Farms for consistency and better execution * Or trusted local favorites closer to home Bottom line: Fun atmosphere, but the food didn't meet expectations for a French bakery. After multiple visits, it's a pass for me.

They sell out quickly, so the move is to get there early and grab one while it's still warm. Trust me, if you're going to get one, get two. The café sits inside the lobby level of the Charlotte Marriott City Center, which makes it easy to access if you're already walking around Uptown. If you're doing a quick drive-by, just be friendly with the valet--tip them and pop inside to grab your coffee and pastry. They offer a full coffee program with plenty of alternative milk options (oat milk is my current go-to). That search led me to Vicente in South End, and I'm happy to say it absolutely earned its spot on my list. The kouign-amann here was slightly lighter and a bit less dense and buttery than the ones I remember from the Bay Area, but it still hit all the right notes--caramelized edges, flaky layers, and just enough indulgence to satisfy the craving. When you find one in Charlotte, you take note. I also ordered a frangipane (marzipan) croissant, which is always one of my go-to pastries when it's done well. This one delivered--rich, nutty, and comforting without being overly sweet. I'm not much of a chocolate pastry person, so I tend to gravitate toward custard- or almond-filled items, and this bakery clearly understands how to execute those classics. The space itself is beautiful--clean glass storefront, modern aesthetic, and a welcoming feel from the moment you walk in. It's attached to a large apartment complex with underground parking, which makes it surprisingly easy to access. Very walkable, very convenient, and refreshingly low-stress compared to some of the trendier spots. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the prices felt reasonable for the quality. One small wish: I'd love to see a late-day pastry special or a loyalty program. I'm the kind of regular who will absolutely show up more often if there's an incentive--and let's be honest, pastries are hard to resist when there's a little nudge. I'll definitely be back, especially if they start experimenting with more creative flavors. A kouign-amann with poached fruit--nectarine, mango, or passionfruit--would have me running back through the door. And candidly, I'm grateful Charlotte's pastry scene is still growing. It means there's room for bakeries like this to shine and keep raising the bar. As someone who loves good food, I'm always rooting for local bakers and artisans to succeed. Bottom line: A beautiful neighborhood bakery with solid execution, friendly service, and a kouign-amann worth the trip. I'll be back--and I'm keeping an eye on that pastry case.
