I felt like I got catfished tbh! All over social media there are photos of milkbread being inside. It was 35 degrees out so I was looking for a coffee shop/ place to grab lunch where I could sit and relax. This location is outside- don't even dare try to sit down as all the tables and chairs were filled with water and ice. They were out of chicken which seemed odd with that being one of their most popular items and 8am. I got a biscuit which I do have to admit was amazinggggg probably one of the best biscuits I have ever had! Coffee was eh (was very watered down) but the cinnamon roll was 11/10 fluffy, moist, and the frosting tasted home made!
First time customer and I ordered through Door Dash! I got a hot dip sandwich which was super yummy, however because it took so long to arrive, the bottom bun was soggy. That wasn't their fault and I would definitely go back and get it fresh in person because it tasted amazing!! The mac and cheese was bland and tasted more like buttered noodles, so wasn't a fan of that. The chocolate chip cookie was actually too salty that I had to toss it. But I did like the chicken sandwich and would go back for that and to try a cinnamon roll!
Milkbread earns their 5-stars just for the brown butter oatmeal crème pie alone! Everything else we've had there is quite tasty as well. When the weather is nice, there is not much we love more than walking to Milkbread with our old hound dog and hanging out at their outdoor tables. I especially love that they preserved the old Dairy Queen building that was quite the landmark for the Plaza Midwood neighborhood when everyone else is literally just bulldozing historical spots for more apartments.
Milk Bread is Kindred's sister restaurant and the quality is solid, especially when it comes to their sandwiches. That said, the pricing feels high for what you get. My avocado toast tasted fine but it was very average for twelve dollars and did not feel worth the price. I would stop in again if it were the only thing open, but it is not somewhere I go out of my way for.
I avoided Milkbread for years out of pure principle. The old Dairy Queen used to sit on that corner like royalty, and I just wasn't ready to move on. But after finally giving in? Yeah... I've seen the light. I got The Hot Dip chicken sandwich and I will think about it for the rest of my life. Crispy, spicy, crunchy perfection with tangy slaw that made my eyes roll back (in a good way). I also grabbed an iced hazelnut latte and, no exaggeration, it was the bee's knees. Like, sipping-on-a-cloud good. The cashier was genuinely sweet, even offering us water cups without us having to beg or barter: rare behavior these days. And the ambience?? If I squinted and ignored the cars zooming down Plaza, I could've sworn I was lounging outside a chic Parisian café, living my best life. Almost forgot to mention that they also have Pup Cups! Long story short: I came in bitter and left a believer. Milkbread, you won.
Love the vibe of this place. Their matcha is incredible, and the hot coffee is pretty good. The iced coffee is a bit watery for my taste. There's usually a line during peak hours but you never wait too long, and the staff is friendly. The beignets are freshly made and to die for! Chicken sandwiches are always a win here, too.
Milkbread served the best chicken sandwich I've had in a while and without a doubt, the best cinnamon roll I think I've ever had! The chicken was juicy on the inside and fried to perfection on the outside. The bread was fresh. The pickles and lettuce added a crunchy/fresh snap to the bite. What surprised us the most is how much flavor was on this sandwich! The chicken and the pickles had a ton of flavor. We loved the sandwich. The cinnamon roll!! That thing stole the show. We shared it for dessert. So ooey gooey and fresh and delicious! I loved it. The ham and cheese croissant reminded me of the croissants we had in Italy. The street dining experience is fun also. We loved this place so much, I'm taking my sister here this weekend!

We came on a nice day and enjoyed our leisurely lunch at the outdoor tables with views of folks with their babies and dogs. You order & pay with a staff member at the window and wait for your name to be called. We enjoyed a draft latte (which was well blended and felt very caffeinated), OG sandwiches (crispy, moist chicken with briny pickles on soft potato bread), and a cinny roll (served warm with luscious frosting on the side). The menu has both breakfast and lunch items, which makes it a perfect option during daylight hours. Milkbread is a neighborhood staple, and I look forward to hanging out here again!
The OG sandwich was soggy and the chicken was uneven and the thick parts were incredibly dry. I might have to order something else cuz this sandwich was overrated. And the matcha was weak. With lots of menu items there may be a return visit.
The seasonal blueberry donut sounded so tasty. Sadly, it did not deliver on flavor. The glaze was bland and the donut itself was stale. Had an eggy smell to it as well. This trip was a miss.

Milkbread is magically delicious! This has become my partner's and my favorite spot for breakfast or lunch. The food is consistently tasty, and I really appreciate that they offer vegetarian substitutions--like the veggie hot dip chick'n sandwich. I ordered mine with pimento cheese on a biscuit, and it was so good (though the biscuit did fall apart a bit). The staff is friendly, and the outdoor seating area has a great vibe--perfect for enjoying your meal. The only downside was seeing a male staff member stick his nose in someone's coffee cup, presumably to check the aroma. It came off a little disturbing. Overall, I'd give Milkbread a solid 9/10. Just a small suggestion: have staff regularly wipe down the dining areas to keep things consistently clean.
I enjoyed my first visit to Milkbread. It is a cute little eatery and is outside dining only. Staff were very friendly. My friend loves their sweets so she got a few different things. I loved the homemade pickles.

We went to MilkBread for a date brunch. They were out of doughnuts not good. You got to be patient for seating and parking. We ordered a wrap, fruit bowl, fried cauliflower, tea, and strawberry matcha. I enjoyed everything except fruit with creamy cheese. read more

I had an alright time at milk bread. I got the hot dip, a cinnamon roll and a cappuccino. The cinnamon roll was pretty bad I def do not recommend. The frosting was like grainy? And didn't melt at all when spread on the cinnamon roll because the cinnamon roll was given to me cold and it was really tough.. The cappuccino was tiny tiny and kinda meh. I ordered the ham and Gruyère croissant. The first one was burnt dark and black on the edges. Inedible. I sent it back. A few minutes later a staff woman brought a replacement to our table, which was just as dark and burnt with black edges. Disgusting. I took pictures. A croissant should be light and fluffy with a golden, lightly toasted exterior and a soft, stretchy gluten interior. It looked like the man in the kitchen was annoyed and had just sent me back the same croissant. The female staff didn't seem to care and were more focused on closing up shop than giving good service, despite the place not being due to close for another hour. I went to get an ice tea refill, only to discover that they had already taken up the ice tea urns. It was only 7pm. read more

By far the BEST plant based nuggets I've had!! They're moist, well seasoned, and have a great texture. Sauces were great too. Not usually a fan of crinkle cut fries, but there's no denying Milkbread does them right. The bowl was not my personal favorite- the flavors are slightly unusual in combination. Would prefer to try a different one next time. The staff were friendly and our food came out quickly. This location only offers outdoor seating, so take note of the forecast before dining onsite. The umbrellas provide some nice shade, but packed up early before a downpour. Will absolutely visit again! read more

I was that mom today and I'm not ashamed! As usual, one of my kids had an event in the area so I by to grab a bite. My son is a donut fan so I figured I'd grab him a little something sweet to eat too. Ordered the chicken biscuit, fries and the beinets (for my son). Well, I will just say he got nothing! The service was wonderful! Young man at the window was warm, friendly and helpful! I knew they had me with the fries. I LOVE crinkle cut! These were hot, crispy and seasoned perfectly!They got gone before I thought to take a picture. Thought I'd take one beinet, just to taste while it was warm. Don't know how many were in the bag, but I ate them all. Had no room for the chicken biscuit but I did take a bite. It was good. The chicken breast was crispy and seasoned well. All of the portions were generous. Definitely got my money's worth. My only complaints were that my biscuit fell apart so I will have to take my sandwich home and use a fork and knife to finish (no biggie). And the coke had an aftertaste of the cleaning solution. Probably would have done well with another rinse theough. At least I know they cleaned it All in all, they earned a come back. Which is not an easy thing here in Charlotte. read more
Stopped by this cutie place for a grab and go coffee before a long walk. This place is so authentically pleasing and so clean / well kept! I got the iced caramel latte and it was one of my favorites I've had in charlotte so far! The service was fast and everyone was very friendly. Ordered delivery and it hit the spot. Got chicken tenders, chicken bites, kale Caesar salad and a biscuit. The only item I didn't really enjoy was the kale Caesar, it's made with baby kale and it was very soggy. This restaurant group also LOVES crumbles on everything and they always end up tasting like your eating sand with your salad/meal... it's not appetizing. The chicken and sauces were great though and the biscuit was delicious!! read more

The location does not clean tables I've been here 30 to 40 minutes and not one table wiped off. The fries were good the bbq and honey mustard mix , signature sauce, were ok on the fries it didn't work on the chicken for me. The chicken fraud nicely but was not salted making it lacking in flavor. I left lettuce off this time. Still no salt making it very flavorless. Chicken sandwich I ended up adding ketchup to the sandwich. It didn't make the reorder list. read more

Cute little walk up place in plaza Midwood. I ordered the small chicken bites and a ranch. They were pretty good. They tasted similar to chick fil a's but much crispier. I loved the ranch as well. The small came with a lot of bites which was great. I also tried the milk chocolate donut and the cinnamon roll. The donut was good. I loved the cinnamon flavor of the donut itself. The cinnamon roll was amazing! I had it warmed up and they gave a lot of frosting as well! read more
I've heard so much about this place from my brother that when I came back to visit him, I thought why not give it a try! We came here after strolling through the city and ordered chicken sandwiches. I was a little thrown off with how much mayo was on it even though I asked for light mayo. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it so I still ate it. The chicken for some reason didn't taste as fresh, but it was okay. Maybe next time I visit my brother, I'll try the wrap instead. That was what I was originally going to get too. I loved Milkbread! The girl at the register was very knowledgable about the items they served. She gave us a full run down of the menu and then gave us personalized recommendations for what she think we may enjoy. She was fantastic. When we visited, it was not super busy but it has a welcoming atmosphere. If I did not live in Pennsylvania, this would be a regular stop for me. read more

So nice, we went back twice! Me and honey bun finally got to check out Milkbread a few weeks back. It's been on my list for a while, so I had very high expectations lol, but they really lived up to them. Great customer service and both times I was able to find parking right at the front. Which is great in this area. With this being a walk-up window type restaurant they do a really great job of shielding guests from the sun and rain. They have lots of umbrellas and an awning to help even more. We ordered the crispy chicken biscuit, which was pretty good! My one small complaint is the biscuit crumbles pretty fast and easy. It's delicious but it turns into a mess real quick. I also ordered a vanilla latte and their original glaze donut. I definitely enjoyed these items too. This really is a great breakfast spot in my opinion. I'll be back for sure! read more
Short and sweet.... The tenders were hot, fried and lightly breaded. The nuggets taste just like the tenders except this time I have them dipped in Buffalo sauce. This was the first time I ever tried cauliflower and it was awesome. My only complaint about the fried cauliflower is I wish they would let some of the grease drain before serving. No one wants to see a dish or bag soaked in grease. read more
If you like a good chicken sandwich while still wanting to feel okay after, this is the place to try! Crispy chicken was yummy and tasty. Fries were good and the cauliflowers were delicious! Must get. The service is fast as you order at the restaurant and they call up your order number. The ambiance is relaxing as it is outside. read more
