Living just a few blocks away, I love having this spot in the neighborhood! The owners are incredible and always make visiting so warm and inviting! I typically visit for brunch, and highly recommend the Shakshuka - it's my to-go almost every time I visit. That said, the Frijoles de la Olla, Boxty Browns, and of course the Chicken & The Egg are delicious. There was a recent renovation and they have now expanded the patio, only enhancing the experience. Pre-renovation, they were hosting monthly wine tastings which I attended monthly! While these have not been brought back yet, my fingers are tightly crossed these go back on the calendar soon! (hint, hint to the owners) The food at the wine tastings is delicious, and while simple, a huge standout was the best popcorn I have ever had and an Asian noodle salad! read more

A once- hidden gem of the NODA community! Local loaf has an extensive brunch menu and options for dietary restrictions. I got a breakfast burrito that is surprisingly filling for being just one smaller burrito. Service was fantastic! For a busy morning with a line out the door, they were prompt with filling waters and making sure our tables/chairs were cleaned. My order accidentally had chorizo in it and they immediately took it back, apologized and made a fresh vegetarian one. It's always great to see the nice gentleman at the front who takes orders, he's so friendly! The ambiance is the only thing that could take this spot to the next level! Currently on bad weather days the inside seating is limited and feels cramped with large parties. For the most part, sitting outside is the way to go on the picnic tables! There is a classic cozy feel to the smaller space! read more

Local Loaf is such a charming Noda neighborhood spot! The patio is one of the best parts, it's a great place to relax and enjoy a meal, especially on a nice day. It's also pretty shaded so even in the Summer its enjoyable. The owner is always incredibly sweet and welcoming. They have so many great food options, but the orange chicken was definitely the standout and one of our favorite dishes. They were out of a few dishes which would've been nice to try, so we'll have to come back! The service could also be a little quicker, but overall, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. $7 wine special on Wednesdays is also a mid-week favorite! Overall, a great local restaurant with a warm atmosphere, friendly service, and excellent food. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu! read more

Local Loaf - Orange Chicken - Bakeries Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

Politely spoke to staff about helping clear off a table, and was interrupted each time I opened my mouth. He didn't listen to what I was saying told me to stay in line, although I had ordered already, shooed me off. Refused to clear off table outside, while holding spray and a towel. Told me to go sit out back. Not a great first time experience. System for seating seems a bit obscure, great concept but internal issues need to be addressed. Overall all, steak was undercooked and over cooked at the same time with nothing but fat. Sweet potatoes were great, along with egg. The benny was fine. Would I come back? No. read more

Steak Sandwich orderers beware! Really wanted to like this place since it is right near my office. Not going to ding them too bad since everyone was very nice inside on the stars but the Steak Sandwich was pretty pathetic. When you order a steak sandwich(From a place with Ribeye on the menu) you expect hot actual steak. However, this steak sandwich is just sad Roast beef deli meat on some bread. Very sad with my lunch choice. read more

Chicken & Waffles (4/5): The waffle was thin and not very good, but the chicken was nicely fried and seasoned. I didn't prefer the hot sauce because it was so vinegar forward. The syrup was good but not anything special. Kickin' Chicken (4/5): The chicken was nicely fried and had a lot of great seasoning but I didn't like the hot sauce. I also really appreciated how much chicken there was! Crab Pups (3/5): Good crab flavor and good hush puppy texture but it just felt like a weird hybrid to me. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this) read more

I went here for breakfast today and It was deeply disappointing. I ordered the biscuit and gravy and it was so bad I could not eat it. The eggs were ordered scramble and not totally cooked. It came with bacon and that was good! read more

Visited here for brunch and was so pleasantly surprised, I wish I had photos to share!! One week later and I am still thinking about the falafel wrap and fruit cup! Complete lack of transparency from staff in terms of wait time. Took are order at the front desk and failed to tell us wait time would be over an hour after paying. Proceeded to serve or food and place it at another table then take it off the table then serve it to us without making a new one or comping dish. Will not be coming back. read more

Sad to lose a neighborhood go to spot due to the management. After waiting 50 minutes after ordering (promised turn 30 min), when we inquired on timing we were met with excuse of our order had been delayed because they got in a flux of to go (which must be priority over dining in?) but they couldn't give us a status on our orders. When requested a manager to assist, to see if we could have either an update on when the food would be ready or if we could have a refund as we needed to leave, the male manager rudely spoke over me to mansplain and "talk me down" in his words. Sadly - we just wanted clear communication and understanding of if the food would arrive in time for our party to eat. To be cut off and spoken over loudly with excuses was not the service we hoped - overall disheartening. read more

Local Loaf - Hot Italian, fries, and a breakfast burrito. - Bakeries Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

I came here for brunch, I got a breakfast sandwich - egg, cheese, sausage, garlic aioli, tomato, and lettuce on sourdough. It was scrumptious. I had to pay to add some ingredients, so my total came out to around $11.25. I would say this place is solid, but if you have any friends that don't eat eggs, or are vegan the only option would be a porridge or avocado toast, both of which were $8-10. The vibe was nice but not that cozy. I would recommend this place for a quick bite. read more

I'm considering scaling the building and holding the employees hostage to get the BLT recipe. 11 stars.

Local Loaf is Charlotte's best kept secret. Chef Adam is in full control and has an incredible menu that is executed way beyond what would be expected at this price point. Spectacular brunch menu. The steak sandwich for lunch is amazing, the wine dinners are not to be miss. A solid argument could be made that this is the best restaurant in NoDa... yeah, seriously. read more

Thrilled that Local Loaf has dinner hours on select nights. The orange chicken is our go-to. There are three heat levels available, and it is served over rice. I love the actual orange peels included in the dish. It is saucy, perfect, and keeps us coming back week after week. We regularly brag to friends that it pairs perfectly with half-off wine bottles on Friday! We decided to live a little one day when we arrived in time for half-off apps. The crab hushpuppies were a treat and made us feel like we were dining coastal. The Brussels sprouts were a masterpiece! I try to order these everywhere and no one prepares them like this! If I were not regularly drinking the discounted wine then I would want a glass of this sauce to drink. Truly a special neighborhood establishment here. Grateful for the pleasant staff and the wonderful string light ambiance as you walk up during the evening hours. read more

Loved trying out Local Loaf for a weekend breakfast while my husband and I were in Charlotte! The restaurant is located in a converted house in the NoDa neighborhood. It is counter-serve and the man who took our order was very friendly and welcoming. What we had was just good breakfast food - not too pretentious, but hearty and filling in a simple space. We found easy street parking on a Sunday morning around 9am, but it was filling up more as we left. I would definitely make Local Loaf a regular stop if I lived in the neighborhood. read more

Thought this place would be good given reviews and the background is cute. However we had a very long wait time even just for our carafe. I understand it was busy due to the marathon but it takes 5 minutes to put a picture of mimosa together, not 35 minutes. The only nice person we encountered was the gentleman at the cash register. Everyone else had an attitude. My friend ordered the steak and eggs and it was disgusting. It said it came with labneh but wasn't on the plate when we received it. The steak looked like it got run over by the marathoners. It was chewy, still mooing and flavorless. I told our waitress it tasted old. The chef ended up coming out and said "I can get you something else. Not everything on our menu is old. I just got that beef yesterday and cut it." Wasn't a fan of his demeanor and attitude. He seemed annoyed and pissed off. Not my fault you buy cheap beef and expect us to pay $22 for it. Wouldn't come back here as our other dishes were pretty flavorless. read more

I'm rooting for this place but they need to get it together. Have been about 4 times and something wrong each time - one time out of beer, one time food came out 30 mins apart. Ordering at the front does not work well - the line backs up and it's super awkward. read more

Meh, Maybe dining in is better but... to-go is a NO. The fiesta Cobb salad with grilled chicken was mostly tortilla strips. Although there was a decent amount of chicken and it was cooked really nicely, it was unfortunately over seasoned. There was hardly any lettuce; not sure I could really call this a salad. The hot Italian sandwich had a really good flavor, but it was seriously salty. And yes, I know all of the meats in that sandwich are salty meats, but this was the saltiest sandwich I had ever had. I did call immediately after I got to my destination, which was less than 3 miles away. I sent photos and requested a refund and they did agreed to refund me however, at this point I have still not received a refund. I know this place has been around for a long time, but I think I'll have to pass it up next time . read more

I've had this place on my list of places to try for a good while now, but the hours/location just never worked out. Well it finally worked out for a Sunday brunch and it was a cute place to grab brunch before an event in NoDa. The day we went was rainy which kinda sucked because I think part of their big draw is the large outdoor patio. You order at the counter, then if they have an open table you can grab one. Your name is called from the area by the kitchen and make sure you're listening because you might miss your name! My only complaint about this was that everyone's dishes came out at completely different times. I got the pancakes, eggs and bacon. Bacon was crispy, the eggs buttery, and the pancakes were like muffins they were so thick. I would definitely visit again and hope to sit outside. read more

Disappointed by the food, price, and service. Hoping my next experience is better! Ambiance is great.

Love this place. Brunch options are always good but it does get pretty busy on weekends, so arrive early or be prepared to wait for a seat. Staff is friendly and food is good. We often go on weekends as a family. Indoor and outdoor seating. read more

This place made me cuss after my first bite. This place is absolutely fantastic. I got the kickin' chicken and boy that's the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. It was stacked high and every bite was full of chicken and flavorful. Anyway, I found this place because I randomly googled "Best Chicken Sandwich in Charlotte". That definitely lived up to the name...I mean look at that chicken sandwich. That could be on a magazine. Also, we got mozzarella sticks. Definitely worth the $10. Flavorful and crunchy with a cheese pull that was in yards. Here's some pro tips: there's no waiters. You order up front where you walk in and they call your name out for someone to bring it to your table. Also, the cookies up front are massive and delicious. Definitely pick up a few on the way out. Everything about this place is a home run. The vibe to the food. Make yourself happy and come here. read more

Was really excited to try this spot based on the menu & the fact that it is in NoDa. Unfortunately we were unable to indulge due to the utter lack of service. One of the ladies working on this day was too busy going through their wine shipment which apparently they weren't pleased with. We sat unattended for 15 minutes without any acknowledgement. Meanwhile whoever the man was behind the counter was began screaming profanities in regard to the wine shipment . Needless to say, I will not be back. read more

The Spanish Migos is NOT Migas. It's a bowl of kale and fried bread chunks. Yum. The yogurt bowl, a presumably safe order, was also totally fucked up. I guess it's cool these days to swap the portion size of yogurt in granola. Turned into a bowl of oatmeal after a couple bites. read more

The thing that stands out to me the most about this charming neighborhood restaurant is the location. It is tucked away on 35th street right amongst the beautiful houses of NoDa. If you don't look twice you might think it is another home! I have long passed this place while going on walks around the neighborhood and have been waiting for the right time to try it as unfortunately they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Finally decided to stop by while working remote. Their breakfast looks fantastic but it was lunch time so I went with the chicken sandwich. Very large portions of juicy tenders between a bun and covered in a spicy sauce. Delicious! I plan on stopping by for breakfast one of these weekends so I can get the full experience. read more

I met up with an childhood friend here on recommendation. There was baked goods on display tempting me while I was waiting in line, but I managed my sweet tooth exceptionally today. I ordered the Shakshuka and an avocado tartine. Then chose a table to sit at until they called out my name. The avocado tartine took about 20 minutes to come out, but the shakshuka took 40 minutes.. way too long! The tartine isn't worth talking about, although the ingredients were fresh. The Shakshuka was good, but the amount given for $14 was pretty small; also one small piece of bread is definitely not enough to lap up the Shakshuka. The food was decent and of good quality, but that wait time is just not worth it. read more

This is your casual neighborhood cafe but with a very cool menu and they serve alcohol ! Beer and wine and on a Sunday all we needed was mimosas! They have a fantastic brunch menu I'd seen on instagram so I had this place in mind when meeting a friend for brunch. Warned when we walked in their kitchen was backed up by the lovely gentleman at the register, we decided to get our mimosas and let the kitchen catch up as we weren't in a hurry . Delicious mimosas! This place stays hopping on a Sunday and they do the best they can service wise. They have some benches outside but quite a bit of seating inside too. They seemed to have a big carry out business. When we got ready to order I got a garden spritz , Prosecco with orange peel bitters. Which was a nice light take on a mimosa. Loved that alternative. They have some great wines and they serve breakfast , lunch and dinner during the week and Saturdays . With a huge menu to choose from. I got the shakshuka , delicious eggs covered in a rich tomato sauce with micro greens and feta, with whole-wheat toast. This was one of the best sauces I've had on a shakshuka not too saucy , but a nice rice thick sauce . Great flavor . The eggs were cooked perfectly too, something about the toast too was nice and crunchy. This is my recommendation! For sure. My friend got the bacon, egg and cheese on a English muffin. He said this was better than McDonald's!! Yes it was a huge improvement! Lots of egg and bacon! I had to get one of their humongous cookies too , these all look spectacular and are only $2!!! I got the oatmeal raisin and yes this is the ticket! Nice soft and chewy and a hint of cinnamon m, this was the perfect end to our brunch. I kid you not when I say they are humongous. You can also buy the cookie dough in tubs of 6 for take home treats. Their muffins looked killer too but I could t eat another bite. So next time I'm on the muffin trail. It was definitely worth the wait. Plus another place to add to my Charlotte brunch rotation . The servers were great too. Loved the Neighborhood vibe and how it looked like all the locals were in to get their brunch on! Local loaf is a fabulous cool place. read more

I'm giving this a "round up" 4- I'd say it's closer to 3.5-3.75. I came here with my friends on Friday around 7pm; it's one of their go-to spots. Very cute all around, bright, open inviting. They have beer, wine, pastries, and a good food menu. We opted to split a pineapple orange juice mimosa carafe ($25 weekday special). I ordered the beef empanadas and my friends had an order of that as well along with the calamari. Took a bit longer than expected for our carafe to come out, but the food followed shortly after. I'm not picky about the bubbly brands/flavors, but my one pet peeve is when mimosa/champagne isn't chilled, and that was the case with our carafe. I hadn't had pineapple OJ before, so I enjoyed that blend, but I really wish that it had the crisp/chill to it. The empanadas were very tasty, but seemed slightly underfilled (very airy, maybe 50% filled with meat). I enjoyed the dipping sauce though. This is a solid spot that I would return to to try some other stuff on the menu, but I do think there are areas for improvement! read more

The Local Loaf was THE thing we needed first coming to Charlotte permanently. Neat little location in a gorgeous neighborhood. Kristina (I'm sorry if I forgot your name!!) and Adam were amazing.
