My Italian sub from Schreiber's was fantastic! They were very quick with it too. I will say my sandwich was a little bit on the pricier side for what it was....but it was still great with great service.

After a delicious corned beef sandwich ("lower east side") on my first visit, I was excited to return, expecting a similar experience. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed. I expect some fat in corned beef- adds to the flavor, but this time there was so much it made my $19 sandwich seem like a terrible choice. I ate half there and took the remaining half home. Just to show what this contained, I'm adding a photo. Perhaps Schreiber's needs to offer a "lean" sandwich if requested. Otherwise, I see no reason to return or recommend. I did not feel I received an appropriate value on this visit.

Schreiber's on Rye at Optimist Hall recently satisfied my craving for a really good sandwich. Like all vendors at OH, it's counter service. They'll send you a text when your order is ready. I ordered the 54 which comes on a Hero Roll that is a crispy, sturdy bread. For those that do not like crispier breads like Ciabatta, you may want to consider something other than a Hero Roll. As a person who prefers less meat to what typically comes on a sub or sandwich, my only comment would be that it was hard to get a good bite of everything at once. There was a generous portion of Mayonnaise that I appreciated because I do not like a dry sandwich. The 54 hit the spot & I would order it again! There's a lot of seating both inside & outside of OH & free parking for the first 90 minutes.

After my lunch of dumplings from the dumpling lady and carrying a bag of dog treats from Pet Wants, I remembered that I needed to bring something for Mrs. K. When Schrieber's caught my eye, I was set. A few minutes later, I have a bag with a can of Dr. Browns and a freshly wrapped potato knish. It arrived home still warm and inside, a small pot of spicy mustard. It was very much appreciated and absolutely delicious. Lots of other great New York deli options here including Matzo Ball Soup, Reubens, Pastrami on rye and more. Even some meatless options for those who don't eat bacon or other protein! Fabulous! Another hit for Optimist Hall! Schreiber's on Rye describes itself as an authentic Jewish Deli cut from the same cloth as the ones you would find in New York. Now I am not a native New Yorker, so I will have to defer to someone with more knowledge on whether or not they are truly authentic. What I can say is that I had a delicious sandwich here as well as some warm and hearty matzo ball soup which really hit the spot. If you are like me and enjoy a seeded bun then I highly recommend the Bourdain. It's stacked with mortadella and provolone cheese. It also has a tasty Dijon mustard spread. Their menu is mostly centered around sandwiches but they also have hot dogs and some classic deli sides. Nothing flashy, but if you are looking for a solid lunch I recommend stopping in for a sandwich. I know I will be back to sample some more.

This is located in the Optimist hall; the staff were very nice and friendly. The menu was nice and simple, so I went with the bacon, egg, and cheese on a poppyseed kosher roll, and it was delicious. If it were not an hour and a half away from where I live, I would go there and get it every day.

OMG! Tried this place yesterday and it was so good. I got a traditional Reuben and it was perfectly grilled. The corned beef was tender and it was the perfect amount of sloppy. I opted for a side of potato latkes. They were good size and made from shredded potatoes which made it nice and crunchy on the edges. It comes with a small container of sour cream which was the perfect complement. They also had Dr Browns diet black cherry soda. I'm not a big soda fan but this is my favorite so it was a pleasant surprise. Optimist Hall was not super crowded when we got there so we had no problems finding a spot to eat. Highly recommend!

Located inside of Optimist Hall, this is a NY Deli. All the sandwiches appear to be served on homemade rye bread. I did not have a sandwich (even tho they looked so good!). They had matzo ball soup, and I was so excited that I just had to try it! I opted for no added chicken but it usually comes with shredded chicken (per the chef). I will definitely be back!!

    1. Best latkes in town- flavorful, crispy on outside, soft in the middle. (Served with sour cream but wish there was a little side of applesauce, too.) 2. Amazing Rachel (Reuben but uses turkey and coleslaw instead of beef and kraut) The toasted Rye was delicious and the ingredients were perfectly balanced. I could taste the dressing, and it was a neat sandwich that could be picked up without falling apart. 3. Half sour pickles- yes! 4. Matzah ball soup- flavorful and good ball consistency. I'm not used to having chicken in my matzah ball soup, and would rather more carrots or even parsnips. That's just matter of preference, though. Just as with the..... 5. Knish- I've come to realize there are two different types of knishes. I prefer the round bread dough with potato in the center , but here they serve the fried square kind.

A solid sandwich each time I've visited. This time I went with the 57, potato salad and salt & vin chips - slapped so hard. The potato salad was a little mustard heavy and smooth bites which I enjoyed. The sandwich had the tough bite bread (but in a good way!) and awesome balance of flavors. Based on time of order, I didn't haven't to wait long. Excited to try the entire menu!

Disappointed is an understatement. I moved to Charlotte a couple of years ago and it's been missing a lot of different cuisines. I couldn't be more excited for Schreiber's on Rye... that's why I created their business on Yelp. The quality was NOT worth the price. I paid $25 for some pickles, small sandwich, and a sparking water. The sandwich wasn't that good and they put a ton of slaw on the sandwich so you couldn't taste the meat. The pickles were questionable at best. The food came quick, so I got this experience over quickly . Whew. Optimist hall is a blast and I enjoy a lot of other restaurants. I can't wait to head back to optimist hall... not Screibers.

So...I'm from Cleveland, OH, and we have really good corned beef sandwiches. I've been in Charlotte for many years now, and a good corned beef sandwich that even comes close to what I'm used to has been impossible to find. When I saw this place was coming, I was really excited. I was thinking a NY deli has to have promise! I just like basic corned beef sandwiches: no cheese, no toasted bread, add mustard...so I tried The Lower East Side. I won't say it was the biggest sandwich in the world or the cheapest, but it was solid. I've been a few times now as it's the closest I've come to the sandwiches I love. I also get the half sours pickle which I prefer to the full. The staff has been friendly each time I've been, and the service was quick whether I walked up or ordered online. It's also in Optimist Hall which is a vibe all its own. I've recommended it to others, and I really hope it does well.

So happy to finally have knish and matzoh soup close to our home. Could hardly wait to get out to optimist hall when this place opened. The cashier was helpful and explained some items on the menu prior to me ordering. Full deli vibe. Highly recommend

The lower east side, corned beef sandwich with brown mustard. Tops!

Best pastrami sandwich in the south!! Or at least in Charlotte. So close to being as good as katz in NYC.

You order at one window, grab an extra items, pay, then they'll call your name/number. Super easy. I ordered the Rhino Club described on the menu as: Boar's Head Branded Deluxe Ham, Lower Sodium Turkey, Applewood Smoked Bacon, provolone, bibb lettuce, tomato, dijon vin on choice of bread. The ordering and payment process was easy. I was solo so I took a seat at the bar area to eat. Sandwich looked good when I unwrapped it, large slices of toasted bread with fresh lettuce and tomato. The strangest thing was, on the left side of the sandwich were several slices of deli turkey rolled up. On the right side of the sandwich were several slices of deli ham rolled up. I hadn't seen a sandwich made like that before. It felt like half of a turkey sandwich and half of a ham sandwich as opposed to a ham and turkey sandwich. Was it bad? Definitely not. I waffled between a 3 and a 4 star for this one but felt generous because, overall, I liked the vibe of the place.
