CM Chicken Salad Sandwich, pimento cheese pasta salad
    Christine S.

We came here for lunch in search of a tuna sandwich and we were not disappointed! The pimento cheese pasta salad was delicious as a side and the deli style tuna and chicken salad sandwiches were just what we were looking for. Next time I'd add some mayonnaise or mustard for some extra moisture but overall very pleased. 10/10 ambiance on nice day to sit outside and eat with a cold draft beer!

The Californian Sandwich - requested toasted bread and added bacon! Delicious!

Good food! Good drinks! Good people! Good location! This is the OG location and is close to work for me! Ill stop by for breakfast and lunch some days - dont lose your punch card! 10 punches then you get a free sandwich! This location has a cute little patio with ample seating (not so much inside, but who wants to sit inside anyways!?)

This place is awesome with something for everyone! They carry beer on tap, mimosas and fridge cases full of more beer and ciders. They have wine and sake as well as sodas too. The food is amazing!! They offer sandwiches and salads as well as a few appetizers that change and daily specials. The vibe is fantastic! You order at the bar then pick up at the window. They were moving orders along pretty quickly when we were there. The fried mushrooms were some of the best we've ever had!! Chill and relaxing with art throughout that adds to the overall vibe of the place. Only regret is not finding this place sooner!

I'm writing this so customers know what kind of behavior this business enables, specifically from an employee named Ranch, a clear racist who uses her white women concern to attempt to paint me as someone "crazy", "scary", and a "red flag". After I made a private Instagram story reflecting on a subtle but familiar experience (a white acquaintance asking, "What do you even have to do at your house?") Ranch (who wasn't involved at all) jumped into my DMs unprompted. She dismissed my perspective, argued with me, and then tracked down my phone number to continue harassing me. She called me "crazy," "scary," and a "red flag." Why? Because I expressed a boundary. I'm a person of color. I've had enough encounters to know when a comment is subtly racialized. But Ranch didn't ask questions or try to understand. She immediately minimized my feelings: " What is wrong w this question i would wanna know what u have to do too lol" "Then why u mad at that question lol" "I think it's much more innocent than u are taking it" These weren't attempts at understanding. They were tone-policing, gaslighting, and white-centering. Textbook examples of someone who's more concerned with being right than being respectful. When I explained the racial context behind my discomfort, she doubled down: "I think that's valid to have to prove that ur space is where a person would want to spend their time" Let's be clear: prove my space is worth it? My house had to be vetted, but she was fine hanging out in bars with sticky floors. That's not about comfort or "safety" it's about bias and white entitlement disguised as preference. Later, she tried to reframe the conversation entirely, claiming it was about feeling unsafe: "I firmly believe everyone should be allowed to spend their time how they prefer... especially when leaving their own space and entering someone else's." Funny safety was never mentioned until she needed an excuse to call me "scary." It's not about protection; it's about control. That's how POC are painted as threats the moment we express anything less than politeness. And let's not forget: She accepted homemade brownies from me Gave me her address to drop off said brownies Continued socializing with me repeatedly, until I became inconvenient The moment I expressed discomfort, I was labeled unstable. Her final text said it all: "Saying someone isn't worth your time for asking what yall would do together is honestly crazy and scary and u can softblock me for that opinion but it's only solidified my previous decision to not hang out w u. Have a good night and get over yourself." She used centuries-old racial language to pathologize my boundary. "Crazy." "Scary." "Red flag." These aren't neutral words. They're the same words that have been used to criminalize and silence people of color forever. If she "had already decided" not to hang out with me, based on what? I had done nothing to her. So what was she reacting to? My identity? My race? It's the same pattern: the moment a POC expresses discomfort, we're accused of being aggressive. The moment we set a boundary, we're punished. Ranch didn't want a relationship--she wanted performance. She accepted my friendliness, my food, my time. But the second I said "that comment bothered me," I became disposable. This is racism disguised as "opinion." Control disguised as concern. Fragility disguised as fear. Screenshots attached. Decide for yourself. But if you're a POC, or care about emotional safety, know what kind of dynamics this business tolerates--and who they allow to represent them.

    The Reuben?

I love Common Market and specifically this location. Yet, what is this very sad version of a Reuben for $10? Why Common Market, why? I get cost are high to businesses, but this could have been better, or at least more than the size of a cracker.

This is the original location of The Common Market and in my opinion it is by far the best! The Common Market perfectly suits the Plaza Midwood neighborhood. It is a local gathering point that functions as a deli, convenience store, and bar all in one. It definitely has an alternative vibe to it, feeling both granola and a little punk rock. They feature eclectic decorations, funky memorabilia, and a diverse selection of craft beers and uncommon wines. Their food is great and so is their coffee, so you could really stop here for breakfast lunch or dinner, or you could come late night to enjoy live music on the patio. The crowd is usually very diverse which reflects the Plaza Midwood neighborhood, and it is always a good time. They have been around for over 20 years now which in an ever changing city like Charlotte is a breath of fresh air. All three of their locations are worth visiting, but this one is the crown jewel.

This is a good spot to grab a breakfast or lunch sandwich. After you order and wait for your food, there is time to browse the market. It is loaded with beer, wine, teas, and candies. They have a selection of retro candy and the market is jammed with memorabilia and other items to browse, while you wait. The food can take a bit if time , but it is freshly prepared. There is seating inside a the bar our outside. We have been here a few times for lunch and breakfast and the food was always very good. It is in the heart of Plaza Midwood !

I wasn't sure what to expect, the market is definitely a catch all! You can get beer, gas station snacks, convenience items, but the star is the great deli they have! Definitely a divey vibe with outdoor seating. Being from NJ originally, I don't expect much for bagel sandwiches in Charlotte and I'm still on the search for a quality bagel shop (aka the bagel is so good you don't need to toast it) however their bagel sandwiches are very good!! I actually loved that they pressed the bagel for this instance and created a really melts, decadent experience. I got the later hater, which has their pimento cheese, which was fire. The service was a bit slow, but they are slinging the sandwiches from scratch so definitely worth it! I'll definitely be back!!

Great spot for cheap drinks and to begin a great night. At cost beverages and a good crowd, good music and their breakfast deli is fire!!!

    Pimento Cheese, Bacon, Tomato Sandwich

I got the pimento cheese, bacon, tomato sandwich. Pretty solid, I thought the bread and cheese were great. Tasted fresh made in house. The bacon was pretty thick, just a bit chewy for my liking. Girlfriend found a long 4-5inch hair in her sandwhich...yikes. Friendly staff, will be back.

I've always heard of this place but never actually visited. We had parked right in front of this location, so as we decided to head home, we wanted to stop in and see what the place was all about. It's like a continence store as soon as you walk in, but the further you walk in, they have a bar with seating and then a section selling wines, beers, seltzers, and regular sodas to coffees and anything else you may find at a gas station. Outside of the store, they have an open patio with plenty of seating. A lot of people go and purchase their beverages and then come outside to sit drink and have a good time. It's a quirky cool place, and I'm all for it. Love the ambiance and concept of it. The employees and everyone were super friendly, and there were no issues at all. I will def be visiting again.

    Breakfast Capri

Popped in this location bright and early one morning for their delicious breakfast bagel. This is their first location and definitely has some history. I ordered the Breakfast Capri on the Asiago Bagel. I love the items on their Capri options. The sundried tomato spread and goat cheese mixed together are amazing. I really like this bagel sandwich. This store seemed to have a lot of items available in the shop also. I didn't walk around much but I did notice they had a lot of the Rap Snack chip varieties. My sandwich was ordered and made super quick! Since it was first thing in the morning parking wasn't an issue either. Overall I was impressed with this location and will be back. Food and coffee is really solid but insanely long wait times. Not worth waiting for unless you order an hour ahead.

Is The Common Market wheelchair pretty accessible? Like is there plenty of space for someone in a wheelchair to roll around? Is the restroom spacious with a bar on the wall and a tall toilet?

It's is a tight squeeze at the Commonwealth location but certainly accessible. The restroom is fairly spacious. Thanks!

It's right on the way to my yoga studio, so it's perfect for a quick in-and-out lunch, but honestly, it's also the kind of place where you end up lingering longer than planned. My usual order is the ABLT on rye with Boar's Head applewood smoked bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Simple, fresh, and consistently delicious every single time. I almost always pair it with the Spinach Bacon salad loaded with spinach, cranberries, goat cheese, tomatoes, toasted pecans, and brown sugar peppered bacon. The portions are huge and definitely shareable. What makes Rhino special is that it's more than just a deli. It's part neighborhood market, part coffee shop, part beer and wine stop, and part community hangout. They've got local products, grab-and-go snacks, fresh sandwiches, beer on tap, wine, outdoor patio seating, and sometimes even live music. It reminds me of the small independent spots I used to love in the Bay Area around Burlingame, San Mateo, and Palo Alto. Relaxed, local, welcoming, and full of personality. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere feels genuinely Charlotte. Not overly polished. Not trying too hard. Just good food, good people, and a place that locals clearly love. And if you are visiting North Carolina, you absolutely have to try Cheerwine at least once. It's basically a Carolina rite of passage. Cherry soda lovers will probably be obsessed. Me personally? Not exactly my flavor profile, but people here drink it like water, so clearly they are onto something. Rhino Market is one of those places that makes a city feel like home. Life is too short to not eat well, Charlotte. Get out there.

You order at one window, grab an extra items, pay, then they'll call your name/number. Super easy. I ordered the Rhino Club described on the menu as: Boar's Head Branded Deluxe Ham, Lower Sodium Turkey, Applewood Smoked Bacon, provolone, bibb lettuce, tomato, dijon vin on choice of bread. The ordering and payment process was easy. I was solo so I took a seat at the bar area to eat. Sandwich looked good when I unwrapped it, large slices of toasted bread with fresh lettuce and tomato. The strangest thing was, on the left side of the sandwich were several slices of deli turkey rolled up. On the right side of the sandwich were several slices of deli ham rolled up. I hadn't seen a sandwich made like that before. It felt like half of a turkey sandwich and half of a ham sandwich as opposed to a ham and turkey sandwich. Was it bad? Definitely not. I waffled between a 3 and a 4 star for this one but felt generous because, overall, I liked the vibe of the place.
