I saw so many rave reviews about Clark's and it is worth the hype !!!! I had the chopped cheese and it was amazing. The flavor was to die for and the price was also well worth it. Cute spot in plaza you should definitely check it out! Next time can't wait to try their breakfast sandwiches I've heard great things about
I am from Chicago and so I ordered the Chicago Dog and a side of baked beans. The service was quick and the food was hot. The Chicago Dog was better than I expected because they char the bun and split the dog. Both great ideas. The baked beans were a pleasant surprise too. They had fine ground beef and bacon in there. Yum. This was my first visit and definitely will not be my last.
We've been to Clark's at least 5 times and have tried a number of different menu items. Today, I had the Carolina Burger and regular fries. My husband had the Clark Burger and tater tots. The bread is beautiful to look at, soft, and buttery while the burger and each topping are all chosen or made with care. I don't know how they cook their fries and tots but I'd put them against any in town. Other things that I'd recommend include anything of their pastrami sandwiches (it's house made), hot dogs, and the BLT. And if you go for breakfast, definitely have a Montreal style bagel with their homemade cream cheese. Service is quick and the atmosphere is casual. Perfect for quick weeknight dinner or weekend lunch.
Big fan of Clark's!!!! We stopped in for breakfast and it is the perfect hangover food. Messy sammies, hotdogs, the works. Food comes out on a tray, kind of like a BBQ joint or a cafeteria. It felt old school in a great way. I ordered pastrami hash and my partner ordered a breakfast sandwich, plus coffees for the both of us. Overall, this place is great. Very casual, a steady flow of customers. It's a little out of the way, but close to the action and I hope the hustle of Plaza extends toward them. Parking is a challenge, as there weren't a ton of spaces. There's outdoor seating and an order window, and it's dog friendly! Some games inside as well. Additionally, I do not eat pork, and so I hope they introduce an all beef hotdog to the menu! There were still some options, even for vegetarians, but the all beef would be great :)
Very cool exciting new place for cheese burgers and split hotdogs ! Parking sucks so go to the tobacco spot buy a Gatorade or cigar and they may let you park in the lot. Showed up at 12 because of traffic one table was left inside and outside the restaurant. Loved the beers and the food that day.
Have been wanting to visit Clark's for a while and finally made it in! I knew it was going to be good when I saw the candy jars and bags of UTZ chips. Easily one of my favorite burgers and hand cut fries in CLT. Great service, friendly staff, clean, fast and delicious! Check them out!
Stopped by Clark's and ordered the Clark's Burger, and this place is definitely worth the hype. The burger was way bigger than I expected -- stacked with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and melty cheese on a soft brioche bun. Beware it can get a little messy! Super juicy and full of flavor. The fries were good -- crispy, well-seasoned, and perfect with their ranch. Price-wise, you can't beat for the quality of food you get. Overall, great burger spot with solid food, a chill vibe, and menu that varies from burgers to dogs and sandwiches.
Wow! So glad this OG is back! We had the fish sandwich special, and the chopped cheese special. Both were insane, look at the size of the fish! Fries are awesome, baked beans are great with the fries. Cannot go wrong here!
Finally made it to Clark's Snack Bar--and as a bratwurst lover, I had high hopes. I was curious to see what took over The Good Wurst, and Clark's has been on my list ever since. I grew up in Wisconsin, so my bratwurst standards are very specific: beer-braised, no ketchup nonsense, just sautéed peppers and onions. That's exactly how I ordered it--and it was beautifully done. Juicy, flavorful, with just enough snap in the casing. Pure comfort in a bun. I paired it with a side of tater tots, which unfortunately missed the mark. They were overly salty--after about five, I couldn't go any further. I didn't send them back, mostly because I didn't feel like the back-and-forth, but I'd skip them next time. The space itself is casual, unfussy, and perfect for a quick bite or low-key hang. No pretense--just good sausages done right (and I say that as someone who's picky about them). I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
Stopped by Clark's Snack Bar for Saturday lunch and loved the retro, welcoming vibe. The space was clean and open, staff were friendly, and the menu was easy to navigate. My husband and I ordered a Reuben sandwich (with spicy peppers), a cheeseburger with potato salad, and shared a strawberry milkshake to go. Everything was delicious and fairly priced, especially the Reuben, which was one of the best I've had in a long time. Bonus points for the dartboard and shuffleboard while we waited, such a fun touch! And the quirky sign out front? Loved it. Definitely a locals' gem. We'll be back and next time, I'm not sharing the Reuben.
Came to Clark's after seeing a TikTok video of their location. We ordered a bacon egg and cheese and a pork roll with some tots. The pork roll on a sesame bagel toasted also had chili oil added, which made it additionally amazing! There are limited seating options so you might have to wait a while in order to be able to sit down and eat and the parking is a bit limited as well. So if you're coming here to sit, expect to wait for a bit. At the end it was all worth it, and I would definitely come back again. Service was amazing!
We stopped here to enjoy lunch on a Saturday. We were promptly greeted and given some suggestions after telling cashier it was my first time. I kept it simple and ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a chocolate shake. My cheeseburger was pleasing to the eye but not my tastebuds. It was dry and bland. The fries were very good though. And the shake..the shake was nothing special. It just tasted like chocolate ice cream in a small cup! I was expecting something delicious considering it was almost $7! I do not feel the quality of the food was worth the price. I will not be returning.
If you follow food news for more than five minutes, you've probably heard some version of the "tea" behind Clark's Snack Shop. Clark's comes from the same owner behind Good Wurst, which (if you remember) opened in this exact Plaza Midwood space, expanded to three locations, and then shut down all three within a year. Nobody closes a thriving business, so I have to assume the economics just stopped making sense... but that didn't prevent a wave of headlines. One week it was lawsuits over the South End location, the next it was a quiet rebrand of the Plaza Midwood spot into "Clark's Snack Shop." I stopped in today and grabbed a chicken salad sandwich and chili cheese fries to-go because I needed to wrap up a listing presentation at home. When I opened the bag... disaster. The sandwich had toppled straight into the chili cheese fries. Not ideal so I re-plated everything and soldiered on. The chicken salad sandwich was good (not great). The biggest issue.. the chicken salad doesn't carry a big stick and the pickles completely overpower it. If you LOVE pickles, go for it... if not, I'd recommend ordering them on the side. Amélie's still holds the crown for chicken salad in the QC. The chili cheese fries were sweet, salty, and definitely edible. They were thick-cut, which helps them hold up under chili, but the overall flavor leaned mild. Not the best chili cheese fries in the city (that honor still belongs to Little Village Grill, forever and always), but drown them in Texas Pete and they'll get the job done. I didn't find anything I had to have again, but I also didn't dislike anything. The bigger question isn't the food, it's whether the ghost of Good Wurst will live for long. I'll probably swing back around to see how the menu evolves, until then... shoot me a message and we can tour homes in the area so you can grab lunch from Clarks while walking your pup around the neighborhood.
DE- LISH!! finally got to stop by today for lunch and this places slapped!! All of the staff members were super friendly and the food was ready in like 5 minutes! I had a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mayo, and mustard and it was sooo good! The others had a Chicago dog and a regular hot dog. We all shared the fries with a side of cheese sauce and wow those were the best fresh fries!! My sister also go the potato salad and I tried it and it was goooood!! Topped it all off with cheerwine and sat outside on the cute patio! read more

Clark's Snack back is starting to hold a special place in my heart. I finally caught them for breakfast which they only serve on the weekends and i'm addicted. The breakfast sandwhich was so good, tatter tots are the perfect side, definitely get their house sauce! The team here is great too, honestly they need a bigger restraint cause this is gem deserves so much! read more

My friend and I were out exploring a nearby market when we stumbled upon this new spot on Yelp! Given that it was new restaurant, we were excited to try it out. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with warm smiles and loads of menu options. Inside decor gives a modern diner vibes, very spacious and loads of windows for nice lightening. They also had plenty of seating outside as well. Parking is also available in the front of the restaurant. My friend and I ordered two cheeseburgers with fries plus a chocolate chip cookie. The burgers were fantastic - flavorful, juicy, and perfect cooked. Fries were also well seasoned as well. This place also offers breakfast food and milkshakes. They have candy options at the order counter like snickers that can be mixed in. Not sure if the cookies can be mixed into the milkshakes but I'm sure they could if you wanted that flavor. We had a good experience here and I'll for sure be back the next time I want a delicious, well-priced burger. read more

Amazing ambiance and delicious food! The worst thing about this place is just finding a place to park but once you're in it's amazing. We got fast service during lunch rush hour as well. Would highly recommended! read more

Tried Clark's for the first time this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Staff was friendly and food was delicious. A little disappointed that the OJ was a tiny carton of Tropicana. Probably would've gotten something else to drink. Tots were a little too salty for me (and I'm always putting extra salt on everything) but they were good, just would've been better with less. I ended up putting some in my bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich. Yum. Parking is a little dicey - I ended up parking across the street in a strip mall since I didn't see any towing signs there. Seating inside and outside and Grateful Dead on the speakers. Will definitely be back. read more

First off just want to say best service so far in Charlotte. Got to meet the mustache God Keynan who recommended the best food on the menu and explained where all the food is sourced from (150 Year Old). Got the Kimchi Dog, Strawberry Oreo Shake (The Hamon, made it), Ruben, Chicago Dog, and Belgian Friets. Food - tennn, vibes - tennn, music - tennn. Best local spot to stop in and grab a bite. Darts and slidy board game - very fun. read more

The service was quick. The packaging was fantastic. The vibe is old school. What I can't get on board with is the food. The fries were very potato-y. The Carolina burger was not the flavor I grew up on. The coleslaw seemed pre-packaged and the chili seemed like that you would eat in a soup. If all this is your thing you may be a fan! read more

Service was excellent and fast. Parking is the only issue here but luckily many orders are takeout. I ordered bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese, which was very spicy. The bagel itself tastes fresh. It was honestly the best part. This breakfast bagel was overall very good and very comparable to NYC's. read more

I am sad to give Clark's 3 stars because I was super excited to try it and have heard so many good things. I went for breakfast, so I will definitely have to go back to try lunch/dinner. I got the lox bagel with a side of tater tots. So they were out of a couple bagels and grits and home fries when we went which was very disappointing, and the food itself was pretty expensive for what it was. However, I have no complaints about the food it was delicious. Not the experience I was hoping from Clark's but I will be back! read more
The Good Wurst Company has been reborn as Clark's Snack Bar in their original Plaza Midwood location. It looks more or less the same with their Grateful Dead decor inside and their order counter, and their large walled menu. Speaking of menu, that seems to be the same as well! I didn't really notice any discernible differences other than the name change so welcome back! Burgers, hotdogs, and some classic breakfast sandwiches are the staples of their menu. Recently I came in here with some former coworkers for a Friday lunch. While I was eager to try a chili dog, I noticed they had curry wurst fries on the menu as well which is something I got to try in Berlin and really enjoyed. The sausage is covered in spicy curry ketchup, it is a delicious snack. Theirs was a little too sweet for my taste and while it is typically garnished with some curry powder, they topped theirs with parsley which didn't add much flavor. I loved the hot dog though and their burgers looked fantastic as well. This is a solid place to grab a meal. It is laid back and cool, as well as reasonably priced. read more

This place is ridiculous. The fries might be some of the best I've ever had. Got the chopped cheese special and holy cannoli this bad boy was good. My son got the burger and milkshake and sang its praises too. I'm a little biased but the shuffle board and Grateful Dead live concert playing on the tv in the background only added to the vibes. Went here for the first time and got to try the "Thin sliced Grilled frankfurter, egg & cheese" sandwich and it was so good! The nice man at the register answered all my questions and asked us how the food was afterwards. I would recommend getting a drink with my sandwich because it can start to feel salty at the end. Besides that, the sandwich might have been cooked to perfection, the egg was perfect. It wasn't runny so I wasn't making a mess, the frankfurter was a good addition because it's also soft and a little salty. The buns were soft and the inside had a real nice crunch to it each bite. I also had a bite of my friend's chicken sandwich and fare warning it is tall. The batter to the chicken was delicious, the vegetables on it were still crunchy so each bite felt light and fresh. The parking a little tight but the inside is very welcoming, many seats and big windows. I'll be visiting again very soon to try their other items. read more

My wife and I came to Clark's for their amazing breakfast sandwiches this morning. When we got home we found what looks like mold on my wife's roll. I brought it back to get a replacement sandwich but I was told it's a 'sesame' and handed it back to me. Was very confused and thought there was no way this isn't mold. This place has amazing food and I recommend it to everyone I know, but was super upset with customer service today read more

The customer service was good. My review is just based off of the fish sandwich. I went on Friday July 4th and got the fish. The size was good but they left my fish in the grease too long. It was a few seconds from being unbeatable. It was damn near burnt, I ate about half of it. I went here because it's close to the house and I liked the food I saw in the pics. I am going back because they got some great looking burgers and I will update my review when I do but this one is just based on the fish. I won't order that again. read more

This place was awesome. Found it on Yelp after my grandson he wanted a hot dog for lunch and it did not disappoint. I had the "Cart Dog" with mustard sauerkraut and onions like you'd get on a dirty water cart in NY. Onions were great. (As was everything else). Hand cut fries were also awesome and a very generous amount. Playing Grateful Dead and Allman Bros tunes. Very cool. I will return for sure! read more
I think this one is a keeper! This was my first visit and first time eating a Chicago Dog. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The chili cheese fries were delicious as well. Those are a childhood favorite of mine, and I want disappointed. Next, time I will try the chili cheese dog. The staff were friendly and my order arrived to my table hot and fresh. I dined inside; however, there were some table benches outside for patrons to enjoy. I would definitely say check this spot out. read more

I was told about this place from one of my golf buddies. Clark's has fantastic food. The sandwiches are amazing. I had the Reuben and I got to say it may be the best Reuben I've ever had. Customer service is fantastic great atmosphere 100 out of 100 score. Home run !! read more

Juicy, messy burgers? YES PLEASE! I tried probably one of the best burgers I've had in quite a long time here, it was flavorful, huge and juicy. I didn't expect the burger to be so big and sad to say I couldn't finish lol. I got the Clark burger, and it was just so incredible. I added the fresh cut fries as a side and a sweet tea, everything was literally on point. I went during my lunch break on a Monday abt 2p and wasn't crowded but I can imagine normal lunch hours and wkends can be slammed. There are only abt 4-5 parking spaces in front but I believe there is a lot behind the building. Either way don't walk, run to try them out! read more
