This place made me LOVE Philly cheesesteaks. I never liked them (even when I was actually in Philly) until I came here. Now I'm obsessed. Absolutely incredible. The owner was also incredibly sweet and took the time to talk with us about how the team went to Philly and did so much research before opening this place. You can truly taste the care and effort that went into it! The prices are more than worth it in my opinion , and every time we're in Charlotte, this is a must stop for us. Mouthwatering, packed with flavor, and absolutely worth any wait. I honestly wish they'd open one in Raleigh because we'd be there every single week. This place is officially a staple for us, and I cannot rave about these cheesesteaks enough. Thank you for serving the community and honestly don't listen to any review that isn't 5 stars. read more

Update: Mgmnt has reached out to offer a full refund. I was very impressed at how quickly and graciously they not only messaged me to apologize, but also that they offered to refund based on the situation. While it was not a great first impression, I will be willing to give this place a second chance based on the follow-up alone! In times where customer courtesy and being a customer-conscientious business seems to have fallen to the wayside of pure profit and capitalism, I have to give full kudos as to how quickly and kindly this situation was handled. Well done and thank you for making me feel seen, heard, and valued!!! Just goes to show, voicing your experiences on these kinds of platforms can result in action :) read more

Cheat’s Cheesesteaks - Cheesesteaks Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

The large option for a cheesesteak on bed of fries has to be one of the greatest scams here. We ordered Cheat's OG on a bed of fries. On the left is a large and on the right is a small. Fries add 2 dollars so the large ended up being 23 dollars while the small was 14 dollars. Weighing both we came away with large weighing 554g and the small weighing 441g. Quarter more food for 9 dollars extra? Don't even want to come back and try anything else at this point. Is this why it's called Cheat's? read more

I loved the location as it sits right near a bakery and a juice bar however I think I ordered the wrong sandwich. Trying to be healthier I ordered the chicken Caesar sub. I had high hopes but it was hard to eat because it fell apart with every bite. The dirty soda was amazing and my daughter enjoyed her fries and chicken wings. read more

Cheat's is popular in Charlotte for its cheesesteaks and sandwiches. On a Sunday mid-afternoon there was a line to place orders. Our group ordered a variety of sandwiches. The cheesesteak was very good and meat was tender and well-seasoned with melted cheese. The Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak was smothered with cheese. I split the Classic Italian and Chicken Caesar Hogie . The Italian was our favorite. Layered with a variety of meats , provolone and toppings. I highly recommend the Cheesesteaks and Classic Italian. There is only outdoor seating, tables and counter seats. It took awhile for our order, but it was busy. read more

Woman who took my order was super friendly but personally, I'm not into the "sweetie", "honey", "dearie" conversations with someone I e never met. I especially didn't like the automatically added 20% gratuity for literally one sandwich. Having to opt out of tipping now is so despicable but I'm sure I am in the tiny minority that noticed or cares. The Buffalo chicken sandwich was nothing special and falling apart. read more

I LOVE a good cheesesteak. There OG has Cooper Sharp, but I'm used to Wiz. I'm willing to try anything twice. I got the OG as is and Cooper Sharp was really good. The sandwich slapped all my tastebuds. The meat gave me all that comfort from the salty umami beef and slight sweetness from the onions. The seeded amoroso roll was baked crusty on the outside with a nice chew. My only critique is that it was more cheese and sauce than beef. I need them to take a page from Arby's and show us the meat. Their fries had a great crisp, seasoning, and flavor from the beef tallow. The staff was working so hard and had a great attitude. I'll definitely be back. read more

Not 2 cheese steaks & 2 fries costing $52!!!! AND you can't even get a combo, fries and drinks are only sold separately. The fries are $5 each. only 1 size sandwich and 1 size fry. It's good but not that damn good. Will be my very last visit. read more

My wife & I tried the Chicken Caesar Sub & it was very underwhelming. It was like a salad on bread, barely any meat & they seemed to be stingy with the caesar dressing & Parmesan cheese. The sandwich was falling apart the entire time we were eating it. The fries were easily the best fries I've had from any fast food place. The seasoning was amazing, they were crispy & came out hot which was great. Sandwich 2/10. Fries 10/10. The cashier had a terrible attitude. He acted like we were annoying him by trying to decide how we wanted our sandwich made. There was about a 20 minute wait for a sub & fries which was about $18.00. The area was pretty nice outside. But overall, I don't recommend Cheat's. It's a tourist trap. read more

Saw this place as we were out driving around and decided to give them a try. Was a little before 8 pm. Only a few people in line at the time. Staff were helpful when ordering. I ordered the Cheat's OG with added lettuce (10/10) it was cheesy, fresh, and flavorful! Was only a few bites in and I was already saying how I should've ordered two. I also tried the Honey Sriracha Cheat's wings (8.5/10) they were cooked well and tasted good, but they seemed like only honey wings ?? No spice at all, which was a little disappointing. To drink, I got a Cheerwine soda; it was pretty good. Food took about 25 mins to be made after we ordered. They have seating on the side of the building where you can watch the staff making the food which was cool. I def will be returning again, the food was too good not to! My overall rate of experience : 9/10 read more

I absolutely love the food at this place. It was so taste and magnificent. I can't wait to go back soon as possible.

Best cheesesteak in Charlotte? I think so! Definitely not as good as a Philly Cheesesteak but Cheats does a good job. Not pictured is the Cheats OG cheesesteak we ordered which had rib eye, cooper sharp, grilled onions and cheats sauce on a seeded roll. We also got wings with bbq and honey sriracha sauce on the side and fries which were seasoned to perfection! The entire meal was tasty! read more

Stopped by here for a quick dinner bite to go! Cheats is probably one of the best cheesesteaks in all of Charlotte. Not a sit down spot but ideal for on the go. I got the chicken Caesar hoagie and it was so good!! The sandwich was roasted perfectly and not soggy, my hubby got a cheesesteak and it was equally amazing. Fries are to die for! I'm not sure what seasoning mix they use but they are so good. read more

Cheat’s Cheesesteaks - Grilled Chicken Caesar + Diablo Cheesesteak - Cheesesteaks Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

7/14 This was our first time here and we weren't disappointed. Parking is easy and they have a few tables and bar seating. There's a special on Monday's for Half Priced Large Chicken Cheesesteaks. We order that and a large seasoned French fries (they use beef tallow in fryers) and a side of cheese whiz. We got it with American cheese and added mayo & banana peppers. We sat at one of their covered tables and one of the employees even brought it out to us. Everything came out super fresh and flavorful. I'm usually not a fan of chucked chicken in my cheesesteaks so I was even surprised by how much I enjoyed this! The meal was delicious and the large was definitely enough to split. We'll be back to try the loaded chicken fries and wings! read more

I'm on a keto diet so this isn't going to be the perfect experience of a proper Philly-style cheesesteak. That said, if you're looking for high protein and low carbs, my lunch would work for you. If you prefer it on on a roll, they do that in spades. I opted for the "large" version of the classic cheesesteak on the bed of lettuce. It didn't take long and I was able to dig in. Presented nicely - a good mix of thin ribeye steak mixed "wit wiz" and grilled onions. Plenty of it and I cleared the bowl. Absolutely delicious combination of beef and cheese and soft onions. The flavors just gel. Good service and a clean restaurant. They do not have a dining room - a few tables outside, some have umbrellas and some do not. Oh, and for the vegetarians who walk amongst us and don't eat meat? They do it with "Beyond Meat" and vegan cheese. You have no complaints here! read more

Cheat's definitely lived up to the hype. The ribeye was seasoned well, the onions were grilled to perfection, and the cheese was perfectly melted throughout the sandwich. The sauce was an additional flavor bomb. It reminds me of one of the good cheesesteak spots back home. If you're visiting the charlotte area, or live here. Check this spot out. read more

This is the type of place that will never have me making the change to eat healthier. If I were ever up for execution, this would be my final meal. Hands down!!!! We orders this tonight. I choose the build your own steak, add grilled onion, peppers and banana pepper. Oh and don't forget the whiz. It's messy, filling and absolutely delicious!!!!!!!!!!! My son got the Italian hoagie, and my husband got the OG. We all agreed this had been our favorite meal since moving to NC 3 years ago. Whatever you guys are doing, never change!!! read more

As a long time Portofino's loyalist, I was reluctant to try Cheat's because I didn't think anything else in the city would compare. Shame on me, because this cheesesteak absolutely exceeded the hype! I got a large Cheat's OG and it was outstanding. Everything blended perfectly and it was evident that all of the ingredients were super high quality. Will definitely be going back for another sooner than later! read more

I drove 30 minutes to enjoy Cheats as they have a veggie option! Only to arrive to a changed menu, a dirty location and beef fries (YUCK) . Why would you change your menu to limited options excluding so many that you use to include. This is so disappointing. Never again . read more

Being native to PHL this is the closest you'll get to a real cheesesteak in CLT. Cheats is delicious! They use ribeye and cooper sharp so clearly they know a thing or two about cheesesteaks. The fries and wings were both incredible. The fries were seasoned well and the wings I ordered extra crispy with sauce to dip them in on the side. Without a doubt, I will be returning next time I'm in CLT. They do have a few spots you can sit outside on a nice day or in your car but I ordered to go and felt like it was still very fresh by the time l started eating it. Lastly, the service was excellent. They were very helpful and gave great recommendations read more

Cheat's slapped when it was a pop up!! I've tired both b/m locations and they're subpar at best. The taste is still decent but size is much smaller and quality is downhill at a high price tag. We ordered ourselves on a tablet at the south end location and after a 20 min wait we got our food. Got a large truffle cheesesteak, small original cheesesteak and a fry. Cheesesteak bread was so soggy the sandwich fell apart. No chew on the bread. Couldn't hold up to the ingredients. Peppers had a good heat. Fries were room temp and tasteless. I was excited to see they use beef tallow but they weren't good. Disappointed to say the least. Love the location and idea but think they're doing too much. The menu is large now. read more

These "Cheesesteaks" have ground beef mixed in with a little steak in them. Hence the name Cheats. My wife took a piece of meat out and said wtf is this? I tasted it and said its ground beef. We threw them both straight in the trash. Absolutely horrible and a complete scam. read more

Last night, my wife and I tried Cheat's Cheesesteaks for the first time, and overall, it was a great experience! We ordered two large sandwiches, but honestly, one would have been enough to share--my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. There are a few picnic tables outside, but this is just a walk up place. And everything was hot and cooked fresh and pretty fast considering the line, but honestly, the guy who took our order wasn't overly friendly. The bread was a standout: soft, flavorful, and sturdy enough to hold all the fillings without falling apart. Speaking of fillings, they were generous with the steak--plenty of it and perfectly cooked. The cheese on the classic sandwich was decent, but next time, we'll opt for American cheese for a simpler, creamier taste. The onions added great flavor to the original classic, though there were almost too many for my liking. We also split a large fry, which was more than enough to share. However, I wasn't impressed with the ketchup--it was an off-brand packet that lacked flavor. The fries themselves were decent, but a bit pricey, and the $2 charge for a small cup of cheese sauce felt steep. While the sandwiches were fairly priced considering the quality and quantity of ingredients, the overall meal felt a little expensive, partly because we over-ordered. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and plan to return, with a few adjustments to our order. To those about to nosh, we salute you! read more

Delicious but it is well over-priced for the portion size. It's never hit or miss, but the pricing puts it into "heck no" category, when you ask yourself if it's worth it. read more

The best cheesesteaks I have ever tasted. Perfectly seasoned, great buns, and oooey gooey cheese sauce all over. Quality cheesesteak! The gentleman Leaven was very helpful and made great recommendations.

I got my sandwich via DoorDash and it was delicious! The fries were seasoned very well and the Cheesesteak OMG has been hands down one of the best I've ever had! I am unsure of the service and ambiance inside, but if it is anything like the food! Then it gets a five for me! read more

The food is mid at best, literally one of the driest chicken cheesesteaks I've EVER had. I am not sure what all the hype is about because I can absolutely do without going back. As someone who loves cheesesteaks, Cheat's is pretty close when it comes to an authentic Philly style taste. I'm not the biggest fan when it comes to the cheese wiz, but the staff is so pleasant, they allow me to substitute it for provolone and it was absolute heaven. read more

I heard the hype and was excited to try. We bought chicken Philly's. They were half off due to the Monday special. It lacked so much flavor for us and it was super greasy. I cannot believe it took me so long to try this place. I can see why it's so popular. The gentleman that was behind the window was very patient and explained everything to me. He even mentioned the Monday and Tuesdays specials. I ended up getting the large chicken sub 1/2 price that day. I believe it was Monday. The cheesesteak was one of the best I have had while in Charlotte. I got the mushroom cheesesteak with provolone. I don't understand the cheese whiz thing. I like onions and mushrooms with mayo. I ate the whole small sub. I will be back. read more

YES!!! Finally got to try Cheat's yesterday and I can't wait to get back!!! Had the Diablo Cheesesteak (I like things hot) and seasoned fries. Both were perfect. The sandwich was spicy but not overpowering. Truly delicious and flavorful. The seasoned fries were crispy and, well, very good! This is counter service a - you either order at the window or online. I suggest online because we ordered at the window and it took a bit longer than we expected - not bad but if you're in a hurry it could be a problem. There are picnic tables available for anyone eating there rather than taking your food with you. Great thing is the ambience is up to you! Enjoy! read more
