Decided to try based on a decent amount of positive reviews. The gist of my experience was GREASY, GREASY, GREASY. Ordered two Mushroom Cheesesteak Hoagies with an order of onion rings and fries. The fries and the onion rings tasted as if they were already fried previously and then re-dumped and re-fried in old grease to heat. My sandwich had a decent amount of meat and cheese but everything was so oily it lacked flavor. Philly corner is a little hole in the wall near my work. Very friendly staff and service is very quick. Phillys are my one of my favorite food of all time. I heard this place had the best in Charlotte. The Philly was tremendously good. Not the best I have ever had but one of my favorites in a while. I got the original because I wanted to be authentic to the place. Meat was very well seasoned, cheese was melted on the bottom of the meat pile, the bread was soggy on top and hard on the bottom just how I love it. I read some excellent reviews here and my daughters asked for Cheese Steaks for her Birthday dinner, so I went to the Yelp to see what was near. It is tucked away and COULD be a hidden Gem, but I think those days are past. While the steak was average, the buns were all from frozen as I walk over to the former Ice cream section in the shop that was filled with frozen Rolls for the sandwiches. The fries were ok, but nothing special and I ordered some wings for myself (staying away from blatant carbs). The were right out of the freezer and into the oil and tasted of freezer burn.
