My friend Michael was preparing to move to Chicago, and we wanted to enjoy one last memorable dinner together. We both love Korean barbecue, and MOA was the perfect meeting spot, conveniently within walking distance of our homes in Charlotte. We made our reservation through OpenTable and were seated in a quieter back dining area, which was perfect for catching up, enjoying our meal, and celebrating our friendship. Now, let's talk about the food! We originally considered the $90 Korean BBQ combination, which allows you to select meats from three groups and includes two hot sides. However, we specifically wanted LA galbi, which wasn't included in that combination. Thankfully, our wonderful server offered some excellent advice. She suggested ordering à la carte instead, explaining that we could choose exactly what we wanted, still enjoy the banchan and a hot side, and get better value for our money. Now THAT is what I call thoughtful hospitality! Rather than encouraging us to spend more, she helped us order smarter. I appreciated that tremendously. We ordered the marinated LA galbi ($32), pork belly ($25), and another beef selection that I can't quite recall. Everything was delicious, and the portions were generous! The banchan were another highlight. We enjoyed kimchi, seaweed salad, pickled Korean radish, pickled squash, and scallion salad. I also tried the Korean bean paste stew for the first time, and what a delicious discovery! We enjoyed cocktails and had so much food that when another friend joined us later, there was plenty to share. He happened to be a former MOA employee, and it was lovely seeing how warmly the team welcomed him. But I want to emphasize that our service had already been outstanding before he arrived. We also enjoyed a steamed egg dish, which added another traditional Korean favorite to our feast. To finish the evening, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary dessert and a festive celebration. Such a thoughtful gesture! The dessert was fried ice cream, which unfortunately wasn't my favorite. I tried a bite but found it underwhelming compared with the wonderful savory dishes we'd enjoyed. Dessert simply wasn't the highlight of the evening. What stood out most was the hospitality. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely interested in helping us have a wonderful experience without overspending. The quieter seating area allowed us to enjoy our conversations, and the entire evening felt relaxed and special. My takeaway: Excellent Korean barbecue, generous portions, delicious banchan, smart menu guidance, and service that deserves recognition. The dessert could use some improvement, but it certainly didn't overshadow a lovely evening. Michael left happy, and that's what mattered most. Since my friends were newbies, I cooked all our meats which they loved watching happen. We had so much fun that my friends are super excited to come back the next time we're in town! Another super fun thing that I didn't notice until we were leaving- the walls are decorated with really interesting artwork made of crushed cans! The samgyupsal tasted great but the beef brisket and beef tongue was just bland and chewy even when they were cooked medium rare. We usually just put a small amount of sauce for good cuts of meat but we had to use more sauce than usual for the lack of flavor in the meat. I'm not sure if it was frozen for too long or if I've been spoiled by fresh cuts of meat from the other kbbq grills that we've been. I ate with my wife and we felt like the grill was a little small to cook all the meat that we ordered. The grill was more like good for just one person and we couldn't imagine if a group of more than two was using it. I love love kbbq. I cannot express this enough that I really hope that they improve given that there are not a lot of kbbqs in the area and its not easy running one. The only reason why I gave 3 stars are because of Udi's great character but the meats and selection need to step up. If they improve, I would be happy to change my review.

Paint over that black wall in the back and fill it from top to bottom with Korean art work as an accent wall! Or put in giant decorative shelves with plants and collectible Korean toys.
