I work in uptown and Hasaki has quickly become one of my go tos! For a decent price I can get teriyaki chicken, broccoli, zucchini, onions and fried rice with yum yum sauce. The portion sizes are decently large. I usually can't finish the whole thing for lunch but it sure hits the spot. I have been struggling to find a decent hibachi place in Charlotte and I think this will be my new place to frequent. Now I just need to try the sushi!
I took my mentee here for dinner. First time trying this place. It was delicious. We got there about 40 Minutes before they close and the staff were still super kind. They were great with providing recommendations and answering questions we had. They were not super busy. The place was nice and they had tvs and some music playing I enjoyed the vibe.
Hasaki Grill is a very popular lunch spot with the Uptown business crowd. I myself have been with coworkers many a times. I can't vouch for their sushi but their hibachi and teriyaki lunch specials are solid and reasonably priced. It is similar to what you would get at the mall food court. The hibachi chicken lunch special is my favorite. Chicken, rice, carrots, mushrooms, and finally some shrimp sauce and a spring roll for good measure. Be warned though peak office hours on the busy office days (Tuesday-Thursday) the line will be long and the wait times get up there and seating is limited. I would recommend getting the food as takeout. There is also a small bar but during lunch hours the line sort of blocks all of the bar seats. Overall if you're looking for a solid lunch at a reasonable price this is a solid choice.
Found this little place when I worked uptown before the pandemic. Hadn't been back since until I popped in last week on a stroll. The food is still delicious. We sat at the bar and the servers/bartenders were so friendly, making conversation as if we'd known them a long time. Love that. The food was fresh and flavorful. I started with a house salad with a wonderful ginger dressing before settling on the teriyaki chicken with broccoli. I switched out the carrots for onions and zucchini. I don't know what's in their sauce, but they need to bottle it. The chicken was juicy while the veggies maintained a nice crunch. Honestly it was just chicken, veggies and fried rice, right...but there was something about that sauce. Cleaned my plate. My friend got sushi of some sort but I didn't taste it, so I can't really review it. It looked delicious though, and he loved it. Check them out!
I'd eaten here for dinner in the past and decided to try them for lunch. During lunch you order at the counter. I was surprised that even though they were semi-busy, our food came out a lot faster that I expected. The staff was very welcoming and kindly answered a couple of questions that I had about the menu. Our group we each ordered different plates and all really loved every bit of our food. I ordered the chicken and mushrooms, the plate came with rice and the sweetest, best carrots that I've ever had. The chicken breast was very juicy. Who can forget the amazing SHRIMP SAUCE !! A member in our group had the steak and shrimp, it too came with carrots and rice. Another member of our group had the broccoli and shrimp, rice and carrots. I felt that their pricing is very reasonable for the quality of food and service that you get. Side note - their sweet tea is SUPER, SUPER Sweet...be sure to half and half it. The staff checked on us multiple times but were not overbearing. A lady, who I assume is the owner was so sweWe will be back for sure!
Hubby and I decided to get out the house and go have a bite to eat. We decided to go to one of our favorite spots Hasaki. It's been a while since we were last there. Once we got there we were pleasantly surprised...They have remodeled & now have a full bar among other additions. It's needless to say the food was excellent and the drinks were on point.
Hit this place up while in town for March Madness. We were craving sushi and checked out the reviews. From looking around on line I came to the conclusion that this was the best bang for your buck and it was! The food was amazing. We told them we had a dairy allergy in our group and they went above and beyond to help. Even changed the way they cooked the chicken and steak on a stick cause they normally cook in butter. The service was great and food worth every dime. Very laid back vibe, place you can come as you are. Looked like they have a very busy "to go" service. Tons of people walking in while we were there picking up call in orders I Will definitely return when visiting uptown.
Came in for sushi on a Friday night. The sushi menu was a bit small. We ordered the Volcano roll and the panther roll. Both rolls were AMAZING. Food came out so fast as well. The hot entrees looked very good too, deff would try these if i ever visit again. *Fast friendly service*
I've always enjoyed eating here. Service is fast, everyone is so sweet and food has quality flavor. I got the Hasaki Roll and Philly roll. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is very nice.
My group of 4 dined here for dinner based on the reviews. We were so hungry that we missed the red flags. The main one was the large sign on both registers that read "NO REFUNDS". Had we seen this and noted it being an empty sushi restaurant on a Friday night in Uptown, we would have left. The food was awful. The sushi menu is primarily some small cut of fish with fake crab. The sashimi looked like a 5th grader cut it with a plastic knife. I immediately fell ill. My guest had a nosebleed within an hour and that only typically happens in response to MSG. I have no idea how this this place received 4 stars.
Stopped in this spot for lunch on the hunt for good sushi. I was not disappointed! Had the calamari to start and it was top notch. The breading was just right and the calamari were tender, not chewy. I enjoyed both of my rolls, but the crunchy roll really hit the spot. The Knights Roll was topped with a soft shell crab mix I wasn't a fan of. We came at the end of the lunch rush, but the service was a little slow. Would definitely go back and try more sushi rolls!
We were spending some time in museum tower over the weekend and decided to try this place out as it was so close by. The food was delicious, staff was down to earth and ordering was very easy and convenient! Our friend had told us about Hasaki Grill a few times before and I wish we had tried it sooner! I'm not usually a fan of the chicken at most hibachi spots because it's usually super overcooked/flavorless but Hasaki did a wonderful job with it! My husband got the jumbo shrimp and really liked his food too. The portion size was amazing without costing an arm and leg, and we still had leftovers for later in the evening. I will definitely be going back here to try more of their menu and to see how the dine in experience is! Perfect quick and delicious hibachi spot! read more

My date and I found the food to be mediocre at best. We ordered the hibachi chicken and hibachi shrimp & steak plates, and unfortunately, everything tasted pretty bland--there just wasn't much flavor in the meats or the rice. To make things worse, the initial plates came out cold (both mine and my date's) which was very disappointing. My remade plate did come out hot, but by then the experience was already affected. I also didn't like that it's $5 extra for more rice, even if you're just trying to substitute it for the veggies. That felt unnecessary. The fried calamari tasted like it came straight out of a frozen box, and instead of squid rings, it was more like straight pieces of squid, which wasn't what I expected. To top it off, I found what looked like a white hair in my food and had to get my plate remade. The server was very nice and handled it well, which I appreciated, but the overall food quality just didn't make up for it. As someone who eats hibachi often, I'd say this spot needs to add more flavor and seasoning to really stand out. I'd probably pass on this hibachi spot. read more
3.75 stars Came across this spot while looking for sushi near our hotel. We ordered a double order of the Philly roll, an order of dumplings, and a hibachi steak with mushrooms plate to go for about $48. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and made ordering very smooth/easy. There isn't really a waiting area per se, so we sat at a table while waiting on our order (which didn't take very long). Philly Roll: kids liked it. You can't really go wrong with smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber. The fish tasted fresh. Dumplings: I think this was supposed to come with 6, but we only had 5. The dumplings are a mix of chicken and pork. They tasted okay. I prefer pan fried, while there were more so steamed. Hibachi steak with mushrooms: comes with sweet carrots, fried rice, and a 4oz container of white sauce. The carrots were indeed sweet (naturally) but quite mushy. I found the rice and the steak to both lack seasoning. The sauce was a MUST. I wish I was asked how I like my steak cooked cuz these were bordering well done. Nonetheless, I don't think I'll go back here for hibachi or dumplings. The sushi is a maybe but for its price point, I can find better or cheaper options that are comparable in taste. read more

The food was really good. They have mushrooms that can come with the meat which is something a lot of places don't offer so that was a PLUS for me. I enjoyed my food. Teriyaki chicken with mushrooms and substituted sweet carrots for zucchini and onions read more

Very satisfied with this place. The Sakura roll is very delicious. I also ordered salmon and yellowtail sashimi. Both were good. I had Miso soup for the starter, that was good too. It was not crowded in a Monday night, so I got seated quickly. Service was good as well. read more
I stumbled across this great sushi bar Uptown Charlotte on my way to the Carolina Panthers pre-game! I was craving sushi instead of the hotdogs and pretzels. Well this restaurant served a fresh and flavorful fried tempura sushi roll that just melts in your mouth in every bite. I also ordered the shrimp & scallops entree with their house made shrimp sauce which was smooth and creamy. It started to rain so I stayed a little longer and ordered dessert. Now this was not your ordinary cheesecake it was a fried cheesecake with caramel & chocolate drizzle paired with whip cream and a cherry. Next time you're headed to the any game or concert check them out! I promise they won't disappoint! read more

First time eating here and had a great experience. Waitress was great and the food was just what we expected. I liked the atmosphere and prices. Definitely recommend if you want a quick Japanese meal while you're in uptown. read more

Decided to come here for lunch on a Friday and it was packed, but what place uptown isn't during the lunch rush? Unfortunately this place doesn't handle the rush very well as it was slow to get food for one. Got the chicken and beef combo. I thought the chicken was great and full of flavor. Unfortunately the beef was tough and dry, would not get that again. The veggies were fantastic! Might, might not come here again, but it is worth a try and a Japanese option uptown. read more

Came for lunch with a few co workers. I love the space and the staff is very friendly. The counter women took the time to explain a few questions I had. As a former New Jerseyan - I often look for crowds of people I can get lost in. There is some solace in being surrounded by people and yet still feeling like an individual. I say that to say... this restaurant is just the right size. Its packed at lunch!! tons of opportunity for people watching. Tons of opportunities to view other orders before you try them. Authentic cheesy Asian decor and folks shoving food into the faces before returning to work. I had a blast :) The Food: Great! really my co workers ordered the meals specials and were in love with the shrimp sauce. The hibachi seemed delicious although I am not generally a fan of thick white sauces. I doubled up on two appetizers. Shrimp Tempura and Spring Rolls. The Shrimp T was really really tasty! They were super crunchy and tastes fresh. The spring rolls were not so good. They had minced chicken- NOT a fan of minced chicken. read more
Hasaki Grill is truly one of the best cheap eats in Uptown Charlotte because they provide you with so much TASTY food. $8.5 for Hibachi Chicken, you can't beat that! Every time I come in during lunch time, there is a line that extends to the entrance; that's how high demand this place is. I had an amazing experience here! I was expecting the prices to be steep considering the fact that the restaurant is located in downtown, but I was pleased! I only ordered two sushi rolls, the Panther roll and the avocado roll. The avocado roll is just avocado, rice and nori, and ran close to $4. The Panther roll had salmon, crab, cream cheese, avocado, and was deep fried! Very tasty. It ran close to $9. I plan on coming back to grab hibachi next time. It's a small establishment, & surprisingly not busy at all for a Friday night. We were in and out in 20 minutes. Our waiter was wonderful and tentative. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone craving a quick bite of sushi or hibachi, and not wanting to spend a fortune! read more

Warning: this place gets crazy busy at lunch during the work week. I recommend going earlier than 11:30 or calling it in to go! This is fast food Japanese at its finest! The portions are generous. I special order my food to have extra veggies and chicken (no rice) to make it healthier (see pic). It's always fresh and delicious. They have a little patio outside if it's nice weather. You could even get it to go and sit outside and eat. read more
Lunch specials are banging!! I really enjoyed the food and the price for hibachi. That was really nice. Yum Yum sauce is delicious AF. I think I even dipped some of my sushi in my bf's sauce. It didn't need it but it was really good. Bf never had fried ice cream so I told him we should order it so he can try it. It's so freaking good. Nice and crusty on the outside and smooth in the middle. Please come here during the lunch specials. You will not regret it. read more
Um, I think I have found my new spot for my hibachi & sushi fix! Service: A++! With a table of 11, service was fantastic! Quick ordering & a reasonable amount of time to have the food brought out. And the food: OH MY. Sushi: Crunchy roll, panther roll, rainbow roll & Hasaki roll. Nice portions, full of flavor & taste. Nice presentation! Entree: Seaweed salad & squid salad. Both had a nice "kick" to them! The squid wasn't chewy; it was perfect. I had the hibachi steak & mushrooms, with zucchini & onions instead of carrots. It comes with fried rice. DELICIOUS! Good pieces of steak & they're not skimpy on the mushrooms, onions & zucchini. My boyfriend had the steak & scallops. WOW. The scallops were HUGE & very flavorful. AND...the entire entree coves the WHOLE plate, yes, THE WHOLE PLATE! Love it... Fried ice cream & fried cheesecake to top off your meal. Pricing: Very reasonable. What I consider lunch prices is the price all the time! Ambiance: upbeat dance music & lovely earth tones...& unique lighting fixtures. Many tables & a few booths. What a nice find! Prices for sushi range between $3 to $4 and no more than $5 for sashimi, which comes with three pieces. The assortment of rolls also generally fall between about $6 and $8. But be forewarned: The sizes are relatively small. Still, the menu boasts a nice selection of main, hibachi dishes and sizes, like mixed veggies ($2) and calamari ($5). The wine list is short, though the Sean Minor Chardonnay was quite nice and perfectly chilled. The place has a slight cafeteria feel to it, but the low lighting at night and dark mahogany colored furniture helps. The staff are both helpful and cordial. The server twice returned to question my order -- something I appreciated. It's nothing like placing an order and having the chef guess what you meant, then serving you the wrong dish or offering. For those dining in, do not get confused by the register and to go counter. Just seat yourself. Honestly, the only aggravation is the music. I did not enjoy listening to Lady Gaga and Rhianna while I was trying to enjoy my spicy scallops and Rainbow Roll. Just not my thing. And I was surprised to find that the scallops were served on a dollop of rice. No exaggeration. It was a round bed of rice roughly the size of a half dollar. I thought it would be served as nigiri. I would probably give this place 3.5 stars if I could, I came here yesterday for lunch and got the chicken teriyaki (subbed my carrots for zucchini and onion, only $0.50), and I got the shrimp tempura. All of that after tax only came up to $18! The shrimp tempura was probably the smallest roll I've ever seen in my life, it tasted decent but I've had better and bigger rolls for around the same price so not really worth it in my book. The chicken teriyaki was a great portion for the price, I couldn't even it all so I had some to go! I would definitely recommend this place for fast, inexpensive teriyaki and hibachi! PS: I had already dug in before taking the pics! Lol sorry! read more
