I'm not super impressed with this place after trying other halal spots in the city. I ordered the combo plate with chicken and lamb which I was excited to try. The portion was huge, but the taste isn't all quite there. I'm sure someone else would enjoy it, but for me it's a no. read more

Absolutely incredible!! The loaded fries item I got isn't on the Yellow menu here, but it is on the food truck itself. These were so delicious and filling it fed both my wife and I for lunch. I will 100% be going back to get these and try more of the menu. Worth the trip to uptown! read more

Halal Gyro Man - Loaded Fries - Halal Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

One of the two major players in the Uptown halal food truck game, I give these guys the edge for the simple fact that they accept credit cards! You will find them posted up at their usual spot in a corner of tryon and 5th street and not only do they serve the favorites like gyros, or lamb over rice, but also wings, hot dogs, burgers, and more. They are reasonably priced for a food truck and make for a very satisfying drunk meal after a night out on the town, but that doesn't mean I won't stop by for lunch every now and then as well! read more

Never misses on the chicken & lamb over rice! A better fast food option. Order online and it's ready on pickup.

what could be better the food the food I got was cold and not impressed was visiting out of town and tried it

Ordered two Gyros here, Lamb and Chicken. Thought they were terrible. Chopped meat smothered in sauce. No tomato, lettuce, onion, potato. Tzatziki was blah and too much. Not what I would consider a Gyro. Save your money and go somewhere else. There are many places to eat on the go. read more

Came in after looking at the menu on the site, wanted to get lamb/chicken/falafel over rice for $8, they told me there was no lamb, I asked if he could do falafel and double chicken over rice and he said yes then charged me $14 and denied that it was $8 on the menu, I had to fight off a bunch of bums trying to get free drinks from me and when I opened my food at home there was no chicken whatsoever, greasy falafel fried in stale oil and lettuce when I said no lettuce (I was the only customer in sight) read more

Been walking pass this truck for a while not realizing they accept cards since most trucks and stands are cash only over there. I was hype when I saw the card reader on the stand so I took a look a look on the side of the truck and checked out the options. I took a late lunch break today so there wasn't a line at all. The prices on the side of the cart are scraped off so I just had to swipe my card and cross my fingers. I ordered the chicken over rice and man was it good! I'll be back to try the lamb next! read more

I have frequented this stand on and off over the years and it has always been fast and tasty. I ordered a gyro and cheeseburger and fries. For myself and my girlfriend. I get home with the order only to see the gyro and the box I assumed held my burger and fries. yes it was fantastic but when asked about ketchup I didn't realize he meant poured on top and there was no cheeseburger!!! I paid full price for two entrees unless a gyro and fries is now 14.40 this was a horrible experience and I will most likely never be using their food cart again as this made a bad evening worse. Best overall advice... check the box to make sure you have your entree!!! read more

Decided to try after seeing a show at the Blumenthal theater and I'm happy I did! I've never been to the halal food trucks uptown but I've always heard great things. Decided to try the Gyro Man Platter which came with chicken, lamb, and I decided to add fries. The wait wasn't too long and everything smelled amazing. Now I was disappointed in the fries because they were string, greasy, and plain sad looking. However, the main platter was fantastic! The meat was tender and well seasoned. The vendor was friendly and they do accept card, which is super convenient. They also participate with food delivery service. I would absolutely dine here again but I'll probably skip the fires. read more

I was looking for lunch uptown, and craving some rice/kebabs... one of my coworkers was headed here, so I tagged along. The menu had a good selection of Mediterranean style dishes, although some weren't available (which is very understandable for a food truck - limited space and popularity of some dishes). I had the chicken kebabs over rice. I was asked if I'd like white sauce, and then hot sauce. "Yes", to both. I like sauce... I brought it back to my office, and dug in. Immediately, I knew I had made the right decision. My head began to sweat, my lips were burning, and I had to get a glass of water! GOOD hot sauce! The food was exceptional, but hold the hot sauce if you're not a fan of the heat! read more

This food truck does not disappoint. The food is flavorful and tasty. You get a good portion at a reasonable price. I go to this place a couple of times a month and I have never had a bad experience. The service is great. read more

As much as I wanna give this place more stars, it just isn't possible. The workers there are super nice and chill. They also accept credit card which mi barrio cart does not. They are only like 400 feet apart on seperate corners of the same block, so customers probably toggle between both eateries. The philly cheesesteak lacks any flavor and is leaky and messy. The cheese is like some horrid combination of wiz, processed cheese, and government cheese. See the pic and decide for yourself. With drink the total came to $9.91 Maybe the chicken and rice is good as judging by other reviewers. But my item was a pure miss read more

Got the mixed chicken and beef over rice.. with lots of white sauce for $8. My friend and I split this and were so full after. It's delicious and filled with meat.. so you definitely get your money's worth. The guys here will put as much of as little sauce as you request. Cash only! And one of the only options for late night eats in the area. read more

Halal Gyro Man is my go to for Sunday funday food orders! (So good I once ordered it 3 times in one day) Their food is amazing! They have great combos. I like the chicken and lamb over rice. And you get to pick your sauces, all are tasty! This past Sunday I ordered the Gyro Man Platter with chicken, white sauce, and hot sauce. It was so good. But they forgot my fries :-( So I had to place another order through Yelp, and they refunded me $3, even though the 2nd order I placed cost $9 with another delivery order, tip, etc. So I was a little irritated that the restaurant couldn't just send more fries because I placed the order through Yelp. Whatever. The food is great, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are big. I love their falafel too, so tasty. I like how you can customize all their dishes as well. Like a Mediterranean gourmet Burger King, have it your way! From what I gather, Halal Gyro Man is a food truck the services downtown Charlotte during events and lunch, not sure if they have a brick and mortar restaurant. They also do catering. I am so glad you can order through Yelp or Uber Eats because I am not sure I would've ever found this place. But I am so glad I did. Halal Gyro man is a must try in Charlotte! read more

Okay, I'll admit it, I cheated on the original Halal cart a block down the road. It wasn't my finest moment, nor my proudest, but one night working late I had a strong craving for Lamb over Rice and all I had was my corporate card. Since every halal cart to ever sit on two wheels is cash only, this threw me into quite the dilemma. I pulled up Uber Eats to see my options and sure enough, right outside my building, The Gyro Man offered Uber Eats so I could pay with my card. They won my business. To satisfy my powerful desires, I indeed ordered the Lamb over rice with white and hot sauce and it was delicious. If you've had Halal cart food, you've pretty much already tasted what I'm talking about as I describe it. As far as halal carts go, this one is very good. They even offer extra items like BBQ and lamb shanks which I'll certainly try when I'm feeling more adventurous. read more

Got dinner from this place on my visit to Charlotte and it was delicious! I ordered their popular lamb chops and the chicken over rice and both dishes were great. The lamb chops were little different from what I've had at steakhouses but it was still delicious. Their service is pretty fast and I was in and out in less than 5 mins. One point to note is they do not take AMEX but accept other credit cards. read more

I always wanted to try this food truck and crave it often now. The chicken gyro is off the chain!!! I will be back again often

My friend and I went here yesterday and the workers would not stop asking our age and where we go to school. At first he asked if our parents were around and then brought his friends into the truck and continued to say how they liked us. We were very uncomfortable the whole time and will not be going back. read more

Food was seasoned, but very unorganized. Asked the order taker for a combo, she said there were no combos. Talked to the servers they said it was available. The food portion was small, but seasoned. Spent almost $7 on a chicken gyro and still hungry. I'm a small person, so I'm unimpressed. read more

I was out and about when I found this cart and I was simply ecstatic!I spent some time working in New York and I simply fell in love with the Halal carts. This one did not disappoint. On my first visit I ordered the lamb over rice with white sauce and a small tad bit of red sauce. Even the small tad bit of red sauce proved to be overwhelming for me. I was there during the day and I cant remember his name for anything but every time that I went in the day this guy was there and he is super pleasant. I am a huge fan of the falafel as well. They are great. For some reason last night I decided to order a gyro platter instead of lamb over rice. I totally meant lamb over rice but ended up with lamb over pita squares. I was so pissed at myself for forgetting what to order. I have alot left so I will probably just go order some rice. Lol. overall I love this cart, parking can be a bear just because of the location but other than that and sometimes feeling guilty for ordering food in front of the homeless people that are down there, this cart is great and I will continue to give them my business. read more

The customer service is horrible. It's apparent the owner is racist. He didn't even acknowledge me and did NOT fully take my order, he acknowledged every other customer but me. It was so bad I walked off and will NEVER return to this food truck again!!!!! read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone due to a lack of integrity within the staff. I drive for Uber eats and I waited 15 minutes for a pick up, just for them to tell me they were out of a product the customer ordered. They told me they were cancelling the order. Then when I called uber eats, they proceeded to look at me and ignore the phone call from UberEats. read more

Super delicious halal cart! I love the falafel with red and white sauce. My typical order is a TON of food and only seven dollars!

He gave me free food after my flight was cancelled and saved my life! Great food as well, coming from a New Yorker.

Good food for the money. Quick cheap option for Uptown. Convenient location on North Tryon

I drive for uber eats and had a pickup from this food cart. The delicious smell that filled my car told me they may be serving up some legit goodness...the fact that the eaters were waiting outside for me to arrive and nearly sprinted to my car when i arrived confirmed my next move. I went offline and went back for me. The next few weeks were a blur i went back at least 3 times a week. The gyro chicken or lamb are both so flavorful and delicious. The service is great. The tzatziki sauce is godlike. Ohhh and the bread they served the cheesteaks on is fresh and soft. Im orig from NY and finding a good gyro has been impossible so many restaurants use that frozen filler packed "meat" this hit the spot!! Im a fan and i only wish it was closer to my house. read more

I was staying at a hotel down the street and I was absolutely starving. God bless these men, lord behold their truck was open at 1 IN THE MORNING. The chicken gyros, man...they were the absolute bomb-dot-com. And they were super respectful too, some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. And super freaking affordable! You'd be stupid not to stop by if you're in downtown Charlotte. read more

There were things on the menu that they didn't have. We ordered lamb over rice and the rice was extremely hard. The salad that comes with the meal was not as advertised. We also ordered a chicken gyro and it was not tasteful at all. It lacked seasoning and the chicken was hard. read more

Delicious!! If you're looking for the equivalent to a NYC halal, these are your guys!

So, I stumbled across this business at the Tacos and Margs bar crawl where I was pretty over the bar crawl and wanted to get something to eat and head home. As I passed the cart, I noticed gyros. Now I'm from NY and we are big on Gyros. So I immediately stop and check out the menu. Their menu is vast for a food truck! So I ordered some NY staples, lamb gyros and chicken with rice. It was amazing! Fresh, flavorful and filling. It was so good that I came back the next morning and got another order of food. I will have to come back uptown to eat at their truck. read more

Omg.. I was in Charlotte for the weekend and literally may have been the best shawarma/rice/sauce ever here. I try to always grab a halal guy rice plate or gyro when I'm in any city and I was so excited when I heard Charlotte had a guy late night. This is THE place !! It is a must stop late night or any time of the day. Everything was perfectly cooked and had so much flavor. We ordered the lamb and chicken combo with white sauce and chutni. It was the perfect amount of sauce to bring the entire dish together. The texture of the meat was on point with a great outside sear and tender inside. The lamb had no gamey-ness what so ever. The chicken was moist. The flavor of the entire dish was mellow in a way that complimented the dish. Each ingredient was able to shine without an overwhelming taste of onion or garlic which I get sometimes with shawarma dishes. I will definitely plan to come back every time I am I'm Charlotte and I'll speak for my friends who live there & say that it is always delish! Also-- they are on uber eats!! Whattttt :) read more
