Aesthetic: Katsu food stall in Urban District Market with Katsu sandos, Katsu burgers, and rice bowls. My Favorites: The Tonkotsu sando is perfection! Experience: I've been coming to Urban District Market for about a year since they opened, and I've been meaning to try more of the stalls instead of just rushing for onigiri at the Market. I'm so happy I tried the Tonkotsu Sando today, it was amazing and perfectly crispy. The workers were excited to help, and we loved our sandos. I'm excited to come back and try more!

The restaurant has a salad option my sister in law was tempted to try. The option was a crispy salad chicken.I had a side salad to go along my teryaki chicken not picture from another venue. The lettuce was crisp and the salad delish. There were so many options and so little time to choice all. The sald had chopsticks availabe for the daring and handy with sticks. If you have a chixken fix, The Chicken Patty is the spot

Deep fried sandwiches? Yes, PLEASE! Crispy Patty is one of the many food stalls in the Urban District Market. I feel like I stumbled upon a hidden gem because I came over here after running some errands in the Villa Heights neighborhood and it was completely empty. Ordering is a breeze with the kiosk and the order came up pretty quickly. Enough time to grab a beer at the LaBARatory across the way. The staffers let me know my order was ready and it was waiting under the heat lamp. I have a feeling you normally get a text message that your order is up because the kiosk asks for your phone number. Sandwich was delicious! Got the tots and was very satisfied with my hidden gem find. The district market is right off the rail trail so I'm sure this will get more popular as more and more people come on through. The market has a ton of tables, everything was super clean and ready for people to frequent this place! Yes- it is smaller than Optimist Hall, but not everyone can be in an abandoned mill building concept. Charlotte is better off with a ton of smaller food halls rather than one huge one where parking is insane and a casual outing can easily become a nightmare.

I've had high hopes for this place as I'm a fan of the Urban District Market it's located in. But unfortunately after a couple chances it just has not impressed. The last time I ended up with $20 of inedible "chicken wings" that looked nothing like they were advertised. The servers were working so hard & the space is clean with plenty of seating. I'll give them another chance but only if I happen to be there anyways. And nothing chicken.

Yummy! Just wish it had a little more spice to it. But perfectly fried and not greasy at all.

Meh. Wasn't bad. Wasn't worth coming back to. Obviously didn't resemble menu photos. Nothing on the corn dog. Sandwich was dry. Nuggets were TINY. The girl working the counter didn't have 'social skills' for lack of a better phrase. She literally didn't speak. We won't be back.

Food was overpriced and extremely greasy(both my sandwich and the fries). They also got my friends orders wrong.

Having the open roof adds such a cool touch and makes it a fun spot to hang out. The espresso martinis are killer and definitely worth ordering. And the fries with aioli? Easily one of my favorite parts of the meal, they are impossible to stop eating. Overall, it's a great spot for drinks, good food, and a fun pub atmosphere. I'll definitely be back.

It was fairly busy, but we walked in without a reservation and were seated indoors right away. We ordered two Guinnesses, the Mussels appetizer (with garlic bread), and split the Fish & Chips plate. Everything was incredible. The cod was perfectly beer-battered, the hand-cut chips were crisp and hearty, and the green peas and tartar sauce rounded it out beautifully. The mussels and garlic bread were also delicious (even ordered a second garlic bread). I would 100% order both dishes again. Our server was also friendly, attentive, and gave honest, helpful recommendations. Prices felt fair for the quality, and the overall experience hit all the right notes. We've already recommended it to friends and will definitely be back. A cozy, welcoming spot for comfort food done right.

I know I made it look very pretty in my photos, but don't be fooled. Here is the complete review. We found the green tomatoes bland and appeared to have been frozen before being prepared. The "Gravy Train" with the mini biscuit was inedible. The gravy itself was OK. Nothing special, not one of the three were "great." But the mini biscuits were terrible, hard, dense chunks of dough. I ate one of them and discarded the rest. The "Chicken Ditch the Waffle" was equally terrible. Whatever they did to turn the biscuit into "fake" French toast is a 100% fail. They were as dense and unappealing as the mini biscuits. The chicken itself was fine. If I was only rating the chicken I'd probably give it a 3.5. The best dish was actually the "GOAT." It was served with a Standard biscuit which we thought was still too dense and dry. I recommend finding an independent restaurant that serves real, "from scratch" food. I should point out that the service crew in the dining room who delivered the food as well as provided cleanup and assistance, were exceptional. They were friendly, courteous, and focused on customer service. I'm sure they deserve more than they are being paid. It was obvious many of them were spanish-speaking immigrants. Not everyone in the restaurant treated them with the respect and gratitude they deserve. Here's the detail of our order from their menu. Despite being one of our staple restaurants for decades, we haven't been back in a long while…read more(mostly due to the distance factor)...and when we did, I was quite disappointed. First of all, they're no longer open for dinner...but just open for for lunch. Luckily, business still seemed good for lunch...as it was a packed house! However, there were some changes (for the worse). First of all, one of the hallmarks of Lupie's was the loud, overhead music. Granted, I didn't always love the music selection (as many tended to be Rockabilly), but music was part of what made Lupie's a fun place to be. Well, this time around, we could barely hear the music from where we were seated (downstairs). The vibe has completely changed from its "Heyday". Once a hipster hangout, the place has become a casual family spot now...with many older folks as well. I guess this may explain the reduction of music. *SIGH* Then the service. First of all, Lupie's has never been the place for sweet, friendly hospitality or anything like that. In fact, the service was always quite swift...but the waiters here have always been competent. Well, this time, it was altogether different. This older guy that showed us to the table was also our waiter. Again, we didn't expect any friendliness...and that wasn't the issue. What was the issue?? He was running around like crazy, sweating the whole time! It was obvious they were short staffed, and I get that...but because he was near hyperventilating (literally running and sweating!), it made me (and surely others?) quite anxious throughout. Definitely NOT a relaxing dining with all of that going on. Plus, I couldn't even get his attention for iced tea refill. At one point, I had to raise my voice to get his attention to order dessert...and he basically snapped back at me. Then as if that wasn't rude enough, hear me out on this! When I finally placed the order ("Kuchen", this peach cobbler dessert), he rushed that back to us WITH HIS THUMB INSIDE THE LITTLE BOWL...NOT ONLY TOUCHING THE FOOD, BUT SMEARING THE WHIPPED CREAM WITH IT. it was disgusting!! I thought about asking him to bring us another one...but decided to scoop out one third of the dessert off instead. I mean, how crude of a service was that?!? Beyond gross! Thank God, the foods still tasted the same...well, almost. I had my usual Texas Chili Mac...and while the meat still tasted good, it was a tad more salty than usual. Also, they no longer use the thicker noodles...a big letdown as far as I'm concerned.. Portions have decreased over the years as well...which was fine actually. The pricing was still quite friendly. As much as I love (LOVED!) Lupie's over the past 3-4 decades, I just can't ignore this. You do not stick your finger into your guest's foods! How repulsive is that?!?!?!? I hate to do this, but for once, our experience merited 1 star, but considering our long history with Lupie's, I'm being generous with 2 stars. I mean, FINGER INTO OUR FOODS....and not even being aware of doing it because of all the rushing about so manically?!? I call this REALLY BAD SERVICE. I'm seriously hoping that things change for the better again. I mean, I hope the management reads this, and informs the staff members not to touch the customers' foods, for one. Also, it would make for a nicer dining experience if the waiter didn't run around sweating so much. Of course, the place could definitely use another waiter or a hostess...as that may prevent all the manic running around (?!?). I seriously hope to upgrade this review the next time...if the place is still open, that is. I'm just wondering if they're in the process of closing down altogether, given the lesser hours. Honestly, as much as I appreciated this restaurant for decades, I can't deal with the running around sweating, barking and "FINGER-IN-YOUR-FOOD" service. We may give this place at one more try in the future (if open)...but if I see this type of repulsive service again, I vow never to return.
