And the chicken was like a chicken salad patty? Hard to explain but just no flavor. Same for my Italian. Very little meat super thin no toppings. Total with 2 chips and 2 drinks was $35. Visited Noda Bodega over the weekend. It was crowded with a local group of runners -- clearly regulars. The cashier was friendly and welcoming. I was glad to see that the menu had non-pork breakfast protein options. I decided to order the Turkey sausage egg and cheese on a biscuit with a side of grits. We also ordered some tator tots to share. The biscuit was delicious! It was soft and crumbly. The grits were creamy, but definitely needed more salt. The tator tots were not good -- which is hard thing to get wrong. Overall, a nice place to stop for a quick casual breakfast. read more

What a cute little spot! After hearing about this place for years, I finally got around to trying it. Noda Bodega seems like a pared down version of Rhino Market but with more seating for indoor dining. I ordered one of the daily sandwich specials--the Throwback. It was pretty good! It was very filling and I like that they included a wrapped pickle spear and plenty of napkins! Also, great customer service and a decent sized parking lot! The specials were the Bodega Cuban and The BBQ Deluxe. We order both sandwiches to go. My mom was a little annoyed with how long it took to make the sandwiches but it didn't faze me because I knew we were waiting for sandwich greatness! Both sandwiches were packed full of delicious items. The Cuban had braised pork shoulder, smoked ham, pickled red onions and white American cheese. The Deluxe has BBQ Chicken, smoked ham, pickled red onions, pepper jack cheese and a yummy avocado ranch. I split both sandwiches with my mom. This has become my favorite lunch spot in NoDa and I'm mad at myself for waiting this long to try it! Located near the intersection of 36th and plaza this unassuming neighborhood deli cranks out some of the most delicious sandwiches I've had in Charlotte. My personal favorite is the Italian stallion which features 3 different deli meets fresh mozzarella, a tomato spread and is topped with extra virgin olive oil on a toasted baguette. I would go back for that sandwich alone but they also feature daily specials which are worth exploring as well. They are counter service but there are plenty of tables inside and out to sit and eat and there is even a small bar as well. Finish off your lunch by choosing from a wide variety of chips and beverages. Just a perfect neighborhood hangout spot. read more

If you would turn Yoda down for sex, then that's called saying "Noda", and as we all know, Noda means No. This is a very hipster sandwich shop which has a few elements of old-school in it but isn't quite pulling off the old school. They put their Italian Stallion through the Panini treatment, and it's very tasty and very well balanced and "handcrafted", but I do wish that I could have tried it cold the way I like my Italian sandwiches and the way that traditional Italian delis would serve them - next time I will, but for me the next time takes a long time to come around, if it ever does. But this is young, up and coming, trendy, Atlanta-lite Charlotte so you can't really look for traditional stuff, especially not in an Italian Deli. I judge it on its merits and the server is super super friendly and the decor is lovely especially the cats and dogs and the prices are competitive so I have absolutely nothing against this excellent place. I came here to meet a friend and ended up liking it for it's laid back appeal. They have plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating as well. You order food at the front and pay, and they bring it out to you. I got their avocado toast and loved it! They do their avocado toast a little different here---and it's good!! They seemed busy when I came, but their service seemed to handle the pace of people. The inside and outside was clean, they have good food options, and a lot of beverage options in their cooler cases in the front. We opted to try both of the specials--The Basic Wild and G-Man's G-Wich. We added prosciutto to The Basic Wild. Both were pretty good, but I liked G-Man's G-Wich more. I ordered one for me and my Fiancé, we felt the sandwich was just okay. I felt it was just a little pricey just for a sandwich and no side item which is $8. In total I ordered 2 Reubens one kids sandwich and a small house salad for $29. I am not cheap when it comes to good food but I felt it wasn't worth it. And two boards of specials, one of which they were out of as I got up to the register. I like that - it means that it's fresh. I opted for a can of Dr. Browns, a bag of Route 11 chips and a sandwich they call "Afternoon Delight" which was a spiced turkey with cheese and avocado and tomato in a panini press. It was delicious. Cute little deli cafe in my neighborhood which is family owned and has some really good sandwiches wraps and other items you can pick up. From wine, soda, water, chips, candies and snacks. I got a custom wrap that had great flavors and was really good with a lot to choose from. I got too many candies and chips as well! Owner was behind the cooking line taking care of business. I have a confession: I went to the Bodega and had a serious emotional moment over a sandwich. I'm not exaggerating! I can actually tell you the last time that this happened. Years ago, there was an amazing deli in Statesville, NC that I went to 2-3 times a week. The day that place closed down was a solemn day for me. I hadn't found a place to fill that sandwich void in my life until the Yelp Charlotte Top 100 list brought me to NoDa Bodega. Considering I've been a North Charlotte guy all my life, I have no clue why I've never found this place on my own. The Bodega is a quintessential neighborhood spot that's part bar, part deli, and part provisions. Craft beer can be found both on draft and in cans in the cooler. The seating is spacious and plentiful inside and out, and everything I saw on my visit was squeaky clean. If you like the Common Market vibe, you'll love this place as well. Both trips to NoDa bodega resulted in ordering the same sandwich because it was that damn good: The Italian Stallion. Starting with the baguette that had a notable richness and the perfect amount of chew. The trio of meats consisted of proscuitto, finocchiona, coppa. All three meats are similar to each other but they all bring something different. Finocchiona delivers such a bold profile with strong notes of fennel and peppers that compliments the fresh basil. The saltiness of the prosciutto is cut with the mozzarella. And the fatty coppa pairs so well with the crusty baguette. Top all of this richness with a crisp and fresh peppadew relish and you've got me for life. I'm sure I'll get to the rest of the menu eventually, but it's going to be difficult on my next visit to get anything other than this. I think I've made it clear: First Visit? GET THE ITALIAN STALLION! Don't be surprised if you see me when you're there, I've got to make up for lost time. read more

Walking into this place, it instantly took me back to some of the corner stores that used to be in my old neighborhoods while growing up in new jersey. When you enter, you're greeted by a large board with the specials and a deli case. There's also a counter bar where you can pull up a seat and eat. There are also racks stacked with your essentials. Ya know candy, chips, and toilet paper. At the edge of the store, there's a large refrigerated case stocked with craft beers, some domestic favorites, and bottles of wine. They also have craft beers on tap In case, you have trouble making a decision while in-store, be sure to check their FB page beforehand! They post/share their daily specials. They also serve breakfast pretty much all day on Sundays so you can pop in for a hearty breakfast sandwich during the afternoon should your booze-soaked Saturday night cause you to sleep in. I got to quickly chat with the owner and she was very sweet and personally recommended the brisket tacos (of which I ordered). I placed my to-go order for the tacos and a "that next level rasta" sandwich which were both ready quite quickly. The recipient of the rasta sandwich gave it very high praises. Personally, I found the brisket in the tacos a little tough but still all right, overall. I see myself frequenting the bodega quite a bit in the future! read more
