YES YES YES! This is the place for Nashville hot chicken! If it's between Dave's and here GO HERE! Now the service is fast, the food comes out hot butttttt they do not have real southern sweet tea. Thats literally the only down side bc everything else is amazing! The chicken is huge, juicy, and the breading is impeccable! Be careful with the heat though! I am African and the medium was HOT! Lol but their ranch and the special sauce were *chef's kiss* to cool things down! It is at the food hall, so there is a lot of people, and finding seats can be hard on busy days. If you want something less busy, with more space and seating options, go on an off day or take your food to go and enjoy at home. Overall 10/10! Loved it! Had some coleslaw to help with the heat for those who like spicy - you will love it!

This places is located in optimist hall and is a good option if you love Nashville hot chicken. We got medium and it wasn't too hot but paired really well with the pickles, fries and slaw.

Finally got to try Poppycox and it did not disappoint! Their chicken was fresh and tasty and HUGE! It's a little pricey but for the amount of food you get it's worth it. I was too scared to try anything hotter than medium but I will be back! Definitely a new favorite stall at Optimist Hall!

They're M A S S I V E! No cute snack tendys here. I got the Big Kids Meal and boy was it B I G. I got 2 Dino sized tenders covered in mild sauce with the best fries. They are crispy and well seasoned. I got the mild to temper the waters and it has a beautiful smokey kick. I'm such a ranch girl but theirs was more dill than ranch which I didn't care for. However, the comeback sauce quickly made up my initial disappointment. I ate this box for 3 days cutting each in half. I made a small salad beyond the airfreight reheat. Definitely worth the money!

Visiting from San Diego I wanted to grab a bite at the infamous optimist hall. I stumbled upon Poppycox and decided to give it a try. WOW is all I can say. This is the best fried chicken sandwich I've had in my life. I ordered the second level of spice and it was just the right amount of heat for this west coast boy! The flavors are so explosive in your mouth with the contrast of sweet and spicy. The chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the pickles are a perfect touch. I also got an order of fries and they were delicious. This is definitely a place I would fly from San Diego to get one of these sandwiches again!

Oof that was spicy! The chicken was perfectly crispy and the "hot" level burnt so good. Glad I ate it at home so I could drink a glass of milk. My lips are still burning and yet I would definitely get it again. The only odd thing I noticed while waiting for my food was someone else was offered a discount for being a first time customer but I wasn't offered or asked.

WOW, nuff, said! We were checking out Southern Range Brewing on a Friday night in early August and Poppycox had their food trailer in the parking lot serving up their Nashville Hot Chicken. Both my wife and I were a bit hungry and decided to check them out. We walked up to look at the menu and asked the couple in line if they had tried it before. They proceeded to tell us, "it is delicious!" and we chatted with them for a bit. Since the menu revolves around Nashville Fried Chicken, they told us more about the levels of heat at Poppycox. We told them that we both enjoy a bit of mild heat but nothing extreme. They suggested we try either mild or wimpy. We stood in line for several minutes while we waited for our turn. We decided to order the 3 Tendies (wimpy heat level), and the Daddy fries to share. When we placed our order, we asked some other questions about their business and learned they started out as a tent about two years ago and made enough money to purchase the trailer. Their home base is Charlotte, and they provide their schedule via Instagram and Facebook @poppycoxclt When our number was called, my wife picked up our food and brought it to our table. I opened it up and as usual, my phone ate first. We were very impressed! As we began to eat the huge chicken tenders, we were impressed with the crunch on the outside and how juicy the chicken was inside. The seasoning (wimpy heat level) was just right for us. It had a lot of flavor with a hint of sweetness and minimal heat. This chicken is amazing! The fries were equally as tasty, they were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Paired with the dipping sauce and ranch dressing provided we were in hot chicken heaven. We really wish Poppycox was in our local area, but at the same time we are not that far from Charlotte. We plan to follow them in the future so we can stop in when visiting the area. Highly recommend and we wish them all the very best as they continue to grow their business.

I had a large order and they handled it with ease. The food was fresh and delicious. They also took the time to package up the order for easy transport.

Optimist Hall itself is a very food-centric, upscale food hall with a ton of vendors, so the atmosphere is energetic and fun. Seating can be a little challenging during peak dinner hours since so many people are grabbing food from different spots, but when the weather is nice there's plenty of outdoor seating. Harriet's keeps their burger formula refreshingly simple. It's a classic smash burger done right--made to order with a straightforward menu that doesn't overcomplicate things. There's usually a line, but it moves pretty quickly, and the burgers come out hot and fresh. One of the best parts of eating here is the flexibility of the food hall experience. While you're waiting, you can grab a craft beer, a glass of wine, or even browse for dessert from one of the other vendors. Insider tip: Come with a group if you can. It's a great place to share fries and let everyone explore different vendors around the hall. Parking is fairly easy with the nearby garage, which makes the whole experience even more convenient. Overall, Harriet's is a fun, delicious stop for a smash burger, especially if you're already enjoying the energy of Optimist Hall.

I live super close to Optimist Hall, so it's been on my radar for a while. This particular night I wasn't feeling great, so I DoorDashed instead of dining in. I ordered the Royale with crispy fries and let me just say... I get it. The burger was genuinely impressive. The quality of the beef stood out immediately. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The meat to bun ratio was spot on, which is crucial. Nothing worse than a bread heavy burger. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, the build was balanced, and even after delivery, everything held up beautifully. So far I've tried two burger spots in Charlotte, and this one takes the top spot. I'm not ready to declare it the best in the entire city just yet because my burger tour is ongoing, but right now it's leading the race. I'll definitely be going to Optimist Hall soon to try it fresh off the grill and experience the service and atmosphere firsthand. Expect an update. But based on this first round alone, Harriet's is absolutely worth the order. Burger lovers, this one deserves a try.

As a West Coast transplant now living in Charlotte, I have very specific standards when it comes to…read moreburgers. For me, the gold standard isn't fancy -- it's balance. Think that perfect meat-cheese-bread ratio you get at an In-N-Out: not too big, not too messy, not dripping everywhere, but still juicy and satisfying. A burger you can actually pick up and enjoy without resorting to a knife and fork like George Costanza. That's why I appreciate Ace No. 3. Their menu is refreshingly simple -- burgers, fries, shakes -- and that simplicity tells me they know exactly what they do well. Everything is made to order, and the consistency shows. The Ace burger is my go-to, and it delivers every time. The shoestring fries are excellent, and the sweet potato tots are another favorite. I've also treated myself to a milkshake here and there, and they're worth it. Fun bonus: they offer "boozy shakes" for adults, which adds a playful twist -- just note they have to be enjoyed on site. They also keep a short, rotating list of beers, which I appreciate. It's curated, not overwhelming. One thing I noticed recently -- and as a fellow marketer, I have to applaud this -- is their milkshake happy hour from 2-4 PM. That's a smart strategy to drive traffic during slower hours between lunch and dinner. Simple, effective, and well executed. A few practical notes: Parking can be a little tight because the lot behind the restaurant is small, but if you go during off-peak hours or order ahead for pickup, it's manageable. The Belmont neighborhood location is easy to get in and out of, and while it's not a high-traffic pedestrian area, that can actually work in your favor. Bottom line: As someone who grew up with West Coast burger culture, this is the closest I've found in Charlotte to that classic, satisfying bite -- even if it costs a bit more than In-N-Out. The quality and execution make it worth it. Get out there, eat well, be curious -- and follow me as I continue eating my way through Charlotte.
