The owner was also incredibly sweet and took the time to talk with us about how the team went to Philly and did so much research before opening this place. You can truly taste the care and effort that went into it! The prices are more than worth it in my opinion , and every time we're in Charlotte, this is a must stop for us. Mouthwatering, packed with flavor, and absolutely worth any wait. I honestly wish they'd open one in Raleigh because we'd be there every single week. This place is officially a staple for us, and I cannot rave about these cheesesteaks enough. Thank you for serving the community and honestly don't listen to any review that isn't 5 stars.

While it was not a great first impression, I will be willing to give this place a second chance based on the follow-up alone! In times where customer courtesy and being a customer-conscientious business seems to have fallen to the wayside of pure profit and capitalism, I have to give full kudos as to how quickly and kindly this situation was handled. Well done and thank you for making me feel seen, heard, and valued!!! Just goes to show, voicing your experiences on these kinds of platforms can result in action :)

I got an ice cream-filled Krispy Kreme doughnut at Stick and Cones last night. This ice cream…read moretruck was at the food truck rally at South End (Camden and West). Sticks and Cones is a pretty straightforward truck selling ice cream and other frozen treats for a few bucks per order. The ice cream-filled Krispy Kreme doughnut was $3.25 ($3.00 + $0.25 tax). The owner had a box of raspberry and lemon-filled Krispy Kreme doughnuts and a vanilla and chocolate soft serve machine in his truck. So basically, those were the flavor combinations available. I went with a raspberry doughnut filled with vanilla ice cream. The owner split open the doughnut and piled the cold vanilla soft serve high. The high calorie concoction was served in a paper sleeve. It was hard to eat with my hands, so I grabbed a spoon to eat some of the excess ice cream first. The treat tasted exactly how you'd would expect and it's nothing you can't make at home (well, I guess you do need a soft serve machine, but regular ice cream would work just fine too). It was really messy to eat and once the ice cream started melting, it seeped through the wrap, making my hands sticky. This was kind of annoying considering there weren't any restrooms available so I could wash my hands. Overall, though, I enjoyed it and the owner was a nice guy. If I came back, I'd probably order something more "standard" and easier to eat (e.g. ice cream on a stick).

There are two trucks to Sticks and Cones - the Sticks truck, full of ice cream treats on a stick, and the Cones truck, a soft serve van of sorts. For a mere $2 and change, I scored a positively delightful and generous swirl soft serve cone rolled in sprinkles from the Cones truck. It was glorious. It was fresh. It was gorgeous, actually. And, of course, it was super delicious! The Cones trucks offers a variety of specially made ice cream treats beyond simple soft serve. You'll find a variety of creative sundaes - one called burger and fries that I'll most certainly need to try one of these days. The folks who own these trucks are just as sweet as the ice cream. And they take credit cards. Yes!

I came here with high expectations after seeing their Instagram posts and the lines wrapped around…read morethe tent on Saturdays. I arrived at 6:30 PM on a Wednesday after seeing their Instagram post saying they would close at 7 pm or when they sold out. I ordered a classic: funnel cake with powdered sugar and fresh strawberries without whipped cream and syrup. I was told it would be about a 30-minute wait which was a spot-on estimate. I was super excited about the funnel cake, and I unwrapped the box and took a picture. The funnel cake was shockingly small, and there wasn't a lot of powdered sugar and just a few strawberries. I expected a more significant portion for the $10 price. Additionally, the flavor of the batter was delicious, but the funnel cake itself was pretty greasy, though otherwise cooked well. The greasiness made it soggy and not a super tasty experience. I'd say that it was overall a 3 to a 3-1/2-star product. The extra star I'm giving is for the excellent service. They are probably a new business working out the kinks and need more feedback and guidance to step it up to a headling product. I also think their menu was a bit extensive and varied, which may make it challenging to prepare orders promptly. With some refinement, this could be a great spot. It doesn't do much in the ambiance as it is an outdoor tent adjacent to a barbershop in the Roses parking lot on the Plaza, but I don't think that's what people come here for. I would give them some space to grow and give them another shot.

The last time I chatted with him he was trying out hibachi plates. With that said they should probably change their name because this place is so much more than just funnel cakes. The hot dogs and cheeseburgers are some of the best in the city. Yes, they do have funnel cakes, fried oreos, lemonades... your regular carnival foods but just with a twist. The Owners are also very nice and appreciative of their customers. They even give out t-shirts to their first customers of the day sometimes. They are located in a tent currently on The Plaza in front of Heads Up Barber Shop four days a week and at Mountain Island Fitness three times a week. Check their social media for their location for that specific day.

He showed up right on time and was ready to serve when the party started. My guests couldn't have been happier with the service and selection. Everyone was able to build their own hot dogs and Charley made excellent suggestions when folks were overwhelmed by topping options. The favorite toppings in the group (not surprisingly) were the Pepsi Onions and the Bacon Jam. The sauces were popular as well especially the sweet heat and the blueberry jalapeno. I can't recommend them more highly. The made catering a party of 50ish people so so easy on me, the host. Very reasonably priced as well. Go see the Gunny when he's set-up around town but also be sure to invite him to your party, wedding, reception, etc. You and your guests won't be disappointed.

My dog had an all beef wiener, freshly chopped onions, and the home made chili - so very, very nice. The Smoked Sausage has a great flavor, and is truly massive - twice the size of the hot dog, and with kraut and spicy mustard it is excellent. Charley is a most pleasant man, and makes coming here a pleasure indeed.

I love that they're having everyone buy tickets with a specific entry time slot (you get a 3 hour…read moreentry window) in order to stagger visitors and prevent big crowds. Also they have a suggested directional traffic flow. We came during the middle of the day on a Sunday. It was pretty empty. We probably should have come in the evening or with a smaller child. There were more things to enjoy if you had a little one with you, such as a "write and mail a letter to Santa" section, and a "Christmas tree forest." We thought there would be a few more vendor tents than there were. I think there were about 12 or so. I'm sure it was difficult to fill up this year with Covid19 precautions, etc. As an adult, I think I'd go back at night next time. But I do hope they do well this year and I appreciate the covid precautions they've taken (masks required, staggered entry, one way suggested traffic flow, etc.).

It used to be at Romare Bearden Park and I think that's the when it was at its best. After that, it moved to a random parking lot and then most recently to BB&T Ballpark. The number of vendors has gone down significantly. They added a lights display last year which was kind of cool. They also started charging an entrance fee. I might go back if it goes back to being free, but I definitely don't think it's worth paying to get into.
