I had an appointment across the street and decided to pop in after hearing how good they were from my son. I was immediately greeted and welcomed in. The cases were filled with fresh goodies and breads. So many choices including coffee drinks and sandwiches. I opted for blueberry muffin, banana chocolate chip muffin and a cran-raspberry crumb bar. Sunflour is one of my fave breakfast spots in the area because it's consistent, with solid baked goods and drinks. My fave thing to get is a breakfast sandwich on a cheddar biscuit. This thing is hearty in the best way! They also sell a baking mix for the cheddar biscuits, which makes a great gift from a local business. In addition to the breakfast sandwiches (which, again, you should not skip!), I've enjoyed their drinks like iced chai and baked goods like the pumpkin apple muffin, which comes with a generous crumble topping. My favorite pastry, the vanilla sugar roll, is not pictured because it was sold out. The vanilla sugar roll is a must-order if it isn't sold out. Get them early! The pastries and bakery goods at Sunflour are excellent. However, be prepared for a very long wait for your food. I've been several times and each time it's 20-25 minutes to get an espresso coffee and muffins. If you get food from the kitchen it's 40-45 minutes. Sooooo slow. read more

My delivery order from here was a disgrace and this review is based solely on the food quality and not a service or dine-in experience. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches from here yesterday: the avocado toast with bacon and egg added and an egg, cheddar, and avocado sandwich with onions and pesto. Both sandwiches were missing avocado, which is an extra charge, including the AVOCADO TOAST. How does that happen? Not to mention that my $10.50 croissant sandwich was so pathetic and essentially an open face sandwich with one small piece of croissant and a sad portion of egg and cheese smooshed together that I mistook for the other side of the bread. It looks like I ordered an onion and pesto sandwich. The key lime pie was sizable and good. We also got a blueberry muffin. It was very cakey for a muffin but still tastey. Lastly I tried a vanilla cold brew. Their cold brew has that strong chemical taste a lot of places have, not their fault just not my preference. I really REALLY WANT TO love this place, but there are two major concerns I have with this establishment, this location in particular. I've lived in the area for the last 6 months and I'm slowly watching the sanitation get lower as well as the general lack of customer service/awareness. The food is, as my mom says, little o, little k, it's "a little ok". It could be better with some minor culinary enhancements, but as it stands, it's a no for me. I can report the key lime pie was a wonderful surprising HIT! It's these little moments that gives me hope for this location. I came here Saturday morning for the first time and it surprisingly was not very crowded. After a brief wait in line I got the cheddar jalapeño biscuit, cinnamon roll, and a cold brew. The cheddar cheese biscuit was nice with the jalapeño brining some heat to level out the richness of the biscuit. I also liked the cinnamon roll which used a brioche type dough so it was pretty light. Even though there was plenty of icing the roll itself wasn't too sweet which usually can be a problem with cinnamon rolls. I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds which really made everything taste incredible so I highly recommend doing that. All in all this is a solid neighborhood joint with good pastries that's worth stopping by if you're in the area. read more

I love coming here for a work meeting or to escape the office for a few. They serve Counter Culture Coffee, which comes from Durham, and it may be one of my favorites. I am strange and do not drink caffeine so I usually order decaf - I remember I couldn't order my usual decaf drink so I had to order an Iced Americano but it was still delicious. I go to the Sunflour location in Ballantyne and they are ALWAYS warm, greet you with a smile, no matter how busy or not they are but 9/10 times they usually are VERY busy. But the staff there is amazing. This location on 7th St had pretty bad service. They weren't even THAT busy yet only had one person behind the counter and she decided to ignore a total of 11 people ( including myself ) waiting patiently in line while she made about 4 drinks. She turned around once to quickly glance and see she had a long line waiting but never said "I'll be right with you" or ANYthing. She said nothing and just basically ignored everyone. The whole line waited approximately 9 minutes....just standing there. I also went there to work and couldn't log on the "free wifi. When I told her it wasn't working she said "oh I don't know, I can't help you". I missed my meeting that day at work and had to literally leave the restaurant, drive home as fast as possible so I could then log in and apologize and reschedule my work meeting with 6 other people. I ordered a grinch cake that was featured on their Instagram page( super cute ) so I had to order it. they said they could do a similar grinch cake at the East Blvd location that I ordered from, so I trusted it.
