Eh, just don't think I was a fan of the drink I got. The cold brew was normal and the orange creamsicle part didn't blend in well with the flavour. The cookie was decent. It seems like a chill spot and staff were nice. Perhaps need to order something else to truly enjoy this spot.
I got one of their seasonal specials and it was delicious! I got the coconut mocha drink and I loved the flavor combination. They have a lot of seating and free wifi. The artwork on the wall was cute as well. The workers were nice and gave recommendations on the drinks. The sea salt chocolate chip cookie was also pretty good and filling!
I met some friends here on Sunday around 10am for a coffee and quick bite. My friends had already ordered and settled at a picnic table by the time I got there, but I got in line right away because it was steadily growing. It's a cute spot with lots of tables and seating, and I think outlets, for getting some work done or just hanging out and reading etc. The line moved pretty fast so I didn't have to wait too long to order my hot drip with caramel sauce and baceon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. We sat outside where they had some live music going on (we had to move a little further away because the music was good but definitely a bit too loud). I enjoyed my coffee and sandwich. Perfect kickstart to my day. The sandwich was a little on the smaller side, so value wise, maybe not the greatest. Flavor, quality, and overall atmosphere of the place though were definitely on point and I could see myself coming back during the week sometime to get a little work done here. @azfitfoodfun

Relaxed, clean ambiance. Quiet enough to read or be on a meeting or have a quiet conversation. The almond croissant was tasty and paired with a cappuccino. This was a great morning break from routine.
Undercurrent never disappoints! Came by the other day for breakfast and a coffee -- I just love how many unique options they have on their menu (for example, I had avocado toast topped with a poached egg and "The Gingey" iced latte, which was perfectly spiced and flavorful). The staff and vibe are always great too. Love this place!!!
What a cute coffee cafe in downtown! I chose to get a chai latte with whole milk and ordered a classic breakfast burrito. They make their lattes pretty fast, I did have to wait a longer time for my burrito to come out but the burrito was fresh and delicious. My chai latte was a bit more on the milkier side.. I think the flavor for my chai latte was underwhelming because I waited to try it until I got my burrito. I still enjoyed everything and I would love to come again and try their other lattes!
Undercurrent Coffee is so good. Their iced lattes are a perfect mix of strong and sweet and they are absolutely delicious. I am only giving 3 stars because I was really looking forward to the breakfast burrito but it just did not hit for me today. I'm hoping this was just a fluke and I will try it again, but there was entirely too much hot sauce on mine. It overtook the whole burritos flavor. I normally love hot sauce, but this was just a little much. Other than that, Undercurrent is amazing!

Undercurrent is a cute little shop nestled in Charlotte. My friend and I visited on a Saturday morning, we easily found free parking in the lot about a block away but noticed it tends to get filled by 10am. There is parking along the street as well. This is a great place to get a yummy drink and walk around the neighborhood or visit a few shops. When we went it was extremely busy and since the shop is rather small we decided not to stay and sit down. The coffee was yummy not amazing and one latte will cost around $8. If you are going for the experience of getting to spend quality time with a loved one then I would recommend but I wouldn't come everyday.

The decor is bright and airy, with lots of natural light from the large windows. This makes it the perfect place to work or relax without feeling vitamin D-deprived. They also have a nice outdoor seating area, which would be excellent in warmer weather. In typical fashion, I ordered a hot oat milk matcha and opted to add their brown sugar vanilla syrup. Their matcha is mild and smooth and compliments the creamy oat milk. The brown sugar vanilla flavor is very subtle, and I didn't notice it much, which was good for me because I am not into sweet drinks; however, if you are, you've been warned. Overall, it was a great experience. I recommend this location right in the heart of Plaza Midwood for a nice coffee vibe.
Undercurrent has mastered the art of crafting exceptional specialty coffee. I really like that you can brace yourself for a surprise with their seasonal flavor coffees like rosemary honey, white choc orange pistachio or black forest. And as for the food, while their Avocado Toast with poached egg is a solid choice, it's their seasonal goat milk yogurt bowl that stole my heart. The blend of neutral sour yogurt, orange zest, spiced turmeric coconut cream, crunchy buckwheat, and walnuts creates an impressive combination of flavors. I enjoyed every spoon of this heavenly delicious yogurt. The food is also extremely instagramable. The place has a modern, spacious, and comfortable atmosphere. Even though finding a seat inside can be a challenge because people work there, the comfy couches and natural light make it a spot where I can just lose track of time. Highly recommend to visit!

checked out Under Current Coffee in Plaza Midwood after seeing it listed on Axios Charlotte's IG as one of the top 10 coffee shops for remote work--and I totally see why. The space is well thought out, with multiple seating options to fit whatever vibe you're going for. Whether it's high tops, dining-room-style tables, cozy couches for a conversation or date, or two-seater benches along the back wall, there's a spot for everyone. Plus, they've got plenty of outdoor seating if you want some fresh air. I started my morning with a caramel latte with oat milk, and it did not disappoint. I also had a simple egg and cheese sandwich on a brioche bun. Though it was on the smaller side, it was surprisingly filling. Service was smooth, and the setup at the counter makes it easy to order and wait without feeling cramped--even during busy times. One thing to note: if you're looking for a quiet spot, this might not be your place. It's lively, with a good mix of conversations and the occasional loud Zoom call in the background. The crowd is diverse in age, but most working folks seem to fall in the 25-45 range. I visited on a Wednesday, but I'm curious to see how the vibe shifts on weekends. The only downside? Super cute spot in downtown Charlotte. Parking was a little tough to find around the area but once you find one there is some cute areas to walk around and check out besides this coffee shop. When you wait in line make sure you take a look too at their seasonal specials on their counter because some of them were more unique than what is written on the big board! The drinks were well decorated and ended up sitting outside with it and enjoyed the weekend weather! Definitely would go back for a drink just wish it was a little bit less expensive for the quality of the drink it was a little bit overpriced in my opinion. read more

Great place to do schoolwork, had a bar in the back with comfortable enough chairs to stay for hours. Small and quaint. The wrap was great. The tea was served nicely. I will go back. read more

Cute spot, trendy blues, lots of seating, and nice staff, when weather's good, would love to be out on patio. Downsides; Music arguably too loud to work effectively even with headphones on it's audible. Hard surfaces of space also bounce conversations so you can hear almost anything happening, and due to music volume, people forced to converse at louder volume. Espresso shot pulled too fast, resulting in burnt flavor of latte which could be tasted through, which is impressively bad-- likely not a standard, but this should be something of importance for a coffee shop. Additionally they do not take cash, but have a cash tip jar, interesting flex. read more

Exactly what I'm looking for when I'm visiting some place new and want that coffee culture vibe that you can't quite put a finger on but you all know what I'm talking about. That and a delicious coffee drink, of course. Well my friends, I found it here. Thanks to a quick search on Yelp, that is! I walked up to find a welcoming building buzzing with neighbors chatting and friends and family gathering. Outside it looks a little old and grungy but on the inside it is modern and bright. There's a small menu to your right of the counter and behind you'll see their staff bustling away at work. There's also tons of seating surrounding it and it goes rather far back. I loved that they had a bar and tables but also couches and lounge like areas. As for coffee/drinks/food, I ordered their seasonal maple matcha and the BF ordered a mocha and quiche. We both agreed that the matcha was the best of the two, it was amazing. I would come back for this drink. With family living down the street, I know I will and I'll look forward to it. We found this coffee shop while visiting Charlotte and I'm so glad that we did! Very chill vibes and a friendly staff. I got one of their seasonal lattes (Black Forest with spiced cherry syrup & mocha), a muffin, and probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had, which I neglected to take a picture of, but it was the made with locally-sourced ingredients, which I added bacon and avocado to. A large space with comfy areas to sit and a lot of table space to do work, if needed. I'll definitely be back when visiting the Queen City! read more
I really enjoyed working at this coffee shop! They had plenty of seating indoors, along with a cute outdoor patio, and friendly service. I ordered the barista's recommended honey cinnamon matcha drink and loved it. Also liked the extra touch of using a metal straw. We stopped into Undercurrent Coffee in Optimist Hall on our way home from Charlotte on Sunday morning and it was the perfect start to the day. Optimist Hall is usually pretty crowded so I'm glad this spot opens super early so we could beat the masses. I love anything chocolate and brown sugar related so I was thrilled to see the sea salt mocha and brown sugar vanilla lattes on the menu. I got one of each and my husband and I split. DELICIOUS! I love a coffee that has flavor but isn't too sweet and this one delivered. The size was also perfect - not too much but just enough. We did notice while waiting on our coffees that they have a small breakfast menu that looks enticing - next time we are in the area we would love to try one of these to accompany our coffee. The staff was precise and swift in their receiving our order and delivery of the coffees - Like a well oiled machine! We appreciate their hard work in getting our morning started off on the right foot! read more

Here is one more Charlotte area coffee shop crossed off my now long list of places to try. Cute coffee shop with nice inside and outside seating. A lot of people inside working peacefully while enjoying their coffee. I got a the seasonal Black Forest Latte Iced with Oatmilk. It was delicious it just needed a little more cherry flavor. It was still very delicious though. The prices are the same as the other coffee shops to me. I paid $8.00 for my latte. They have multiple locations in Charlotte. So this is a must try for coffee lovers. read more

Amazing place! Came for the first time on a Sunday late morning. The place was busy, but there was enough indoor seating. The atmosphere was nice for an informal coffee chat, and the brown sugar vanilla latte was amazing. The only improvement I see is that the place could've been cleaner. Overall, 5/5 stars. There is plenty of seating - a mix of small and large tables, high top and bar tables, and couches. There is also outside seating. Note: depending on the day/time, it can get crowded. The menu has a variety of traditional coffee/tea items as well as food options. I've heard great things about all of the coups, bagels, and avocado toast. I usually take headphones when visiting coffee shops because the music selection can sometimes be distracting/unpleasant, but there was no need for them hear. The music was loud enough to enjoy the tunes, but not so loud that I couldn't concentrate. I enjoyed the playlist, even Shazamming some of the tunes that I heard. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by staff. I ordered a matcha latte with almond milk... Delicious! The only downside was parking. When I arrived, there weren't anymore spots on the street so I paid to park in the parking lot ($10 for 3 hours). However, with my experience, it was worth it. This cute coffee shop in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood will definitely see me again. read more
This shop is a nice little place to get coffee! I would definitely go in to get work done! I got their sandwich it is on the smaller side! I also got a cookie and it was really good! I got a lavender latte and it was very good! I think this is a place I wouldn't go if you're super hungry but if you want to get out and go somewhere during the day I would say it's perfect!!
