Eh, just don't think I was a fan of the drink I got. The cold brew was normal and the orange creamsicle part didn't blend in well with the flavour. The cookie was decent. It seems like a chill spot and staff were nice. Perhaps need to order something else to truly enjoy this spot.
I got one of their seasonal specials and it was delicious! I got the coconut mocha drink and I loved the flavor combination. They have a lot of seating and free wifi. The artwork on the wall was cute as well. The workers were nice and gave recommendations on the drinks. The sea salt chocolate chip cookie was also pretty good and filling!
I met some friends here on Sunday around 10am for a coffee and quick bite. My friends had already ordered and settled at a picnic table by the time I got there, but I got in line right away because it was steadily growing. It's a cute spot with lots of tables and seating, and I think outlets, for getting some work done or just hanging out and reading etc. The line moved pretty fast so I didn't have to wait too long to order my hot drip with caramel sauce and baceon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. We sat outside where they had some live music going on (we had to move a little further away because the music was good but definitely a bit too loud). I enjoyed my coffee and sandwich. Perfect kickstart to my day. The sandwich was a little on the smaller side, so value wise, maybe not the greatest. Flavor, quality, and overall atmosphere of the place though were definitely on point and I could see myself coming back during the week sometime to get a little work done here. @azfitfoodfun
So expensive. However, I clearly keep coming back. Not great vibes for focusing on work on a Sunday afternoon. However, good for this on other days. Service remains standard. Flavor is solid but not the best I've ever had.
Relaxed, clean ambiance. Quiet enough to read or be on a meeting or have a quiet conversation. The almond croissant was tasty and paired with a cappuccino. This was a great morning break from routine.
Undercurrent never disappoints! Came by the other day for breakfast and a coffee -- I just love how many unique options they have on their menu (for example, I had avocado toast topped with a poached egg and "The Gingey" iced latte, which was perfectly spiced and flavorful). The staff and vibe are always great too. Love this place!!!
What a cute coffee cafe in downtown! I chose to get a chai latte with whole milk and ordered a classic breakfast burrito. They make their lattes pretty fast, I did have to wait a longer time for my burrito to come out but the burrito was fresh and delicious. My chai latte was a bit more on the milkier side.. I think the flavor for my chai latte was underwhelming because I waited to try it until I got my burrito. I still enjoyed everything and I would love to come again and try their other lattes!
Undercurrent Coffee is so good. Their iced lattes are a perfect mix of strong and sweet and they are absolutely delicious. I am only giving 3 stars because I was really looking forward to the breakfast burrito but it just did not hit for me today. I'm hoping this was just a fluke and I will try it again, but there was entirely too much hot sauce on mine. It overtook the whole burritos flavor. I normally love hot sauce, but this was just a little much. Other than that, Undercurrent is amazing!
An incredible place. Amazing music. Great food. Awesome service and a good vibe. I love coming here to work
Undercurrent is a cute little shop nestled in Charlotte. My friend and I visited on a Saturday morning, we easily found free parking in the lot about a block away but noticed it tends to get filled by 10am. There is parking along the street as well. This is a great place to get a yummy drink and walk around the neighborhood or visit a few shops. When we went it was extremely busy and since the shop is rather small we decided not to stay and sit down. The coffee was yummy not amazing and one latte will cost around $8. If you are going for the experience of getting to spend quality time with a loved one then I would recommend but I wouldn't come everyday.
I came here for a quick pick-me-up while I was in the area. I ordered it via the Odeko app, and it was ready when I arrived. The decor is bright and airy, with lots of natural light from the large windows. This makes it the perfect place to work or relax without feeling vitamin D-deprived. They also have a nice outdoor seating area, which would be excellent in warmer weather. In typical fashion, I ordered a hot oat milk matcha and opted to add their brown sugar vanilla syrup. Their matcha is mild and smooth and compliments the creamy oat milk. The brown sugar vanilla flavor is very subtle, and I didn't notice it much, which was good for me because I am not into sweet drinks; however, if you are, you've been warned. Overall, it was a great experience. I recommend this location right in the heart of Plaza Midwood for a nice coffee vibe.
Undercurrent has mastered the art of crafting exceptional specialty coffee. I really like that you can brace yourself for a surprise with their seasonal flavor coffees like rosemary honey, white choc orange pistachio or black forest. And as for the food, while their Avocado Toast with poached egg is a solid choice, it's their seasonal goat milk yogurt bowl that stole my heart. The blend of neutral sour yogurt, orange zest, spiced turmeric coconut cream, crunchy buckwheat, and walnuts creates an impressive combination of flavors. I enjoyed every spoon of this heavenly delicious yogurt. The food is also extremely instagramable. The place has a modern, spacious, and comfortable atmosphere. Even though finding a seat inside can be a challenge because people work there, the comfy couches and natural light make it a spot where I can just lose track of time. Highly recommend to visit!
I love that they actually have a cortado on the menu. Some places can still make one when it's not on the menu but they actually have it listed. Awesome. A cortado is half espresso and half steamed (not foamed) milk. That makes it different than a latte and a cappuccino. I find the flavor to be richer and tastier. UC has reopened the inside seating area with optional distancing. When I stopped in today, they have "clean/dirty" signs on the tables, a plexiglass partition at the register and a cash-only policy. Masks are required at all times except when actively eating or drinking. I stayed long enough to enjoy my coffee, try to do some laptop stuff, and then departed. Great coffee, great COVID protocols, comfy seating area. Wifi was iffy, but there were power outlets available if you need to recharge. Minimal food options but the avo toast looked great. Delicious latte and they had a few fun flavors to choose from. It's a cute neighborhood that makes for a nice stroll pre/post coffee. Great vibes inside to get work done or study and tons of natural light read more

Popped in on a lazy afternoon and Josh and Harrison were so sweet and knowledgeable! They were very helpful and kind. The café has lots of places to sit and work or get cozy and read a book, the coffee is interesting and delicious! It has a a very comfortable, cool neighborhood vibe. The building is also Wheelchair accessible with a comfortable ramp and an entryway that isn't too bumpy. I don't recall any grab bars in the bathroom but it was very spacious. read more

I really enjoyed my coffee here. The atmosphere is so welcoming and it was filled with friendly people. I had an oat milk chai latte that really hit the spot. There was a fair amount of spice in the latte which I like. I also ordered the $6 breakfast sandwich (it is an up charge to add bacon, which I did not). The pictures are deceiving, but this delicious sandwich was really a slider. I mean it was tiny!! I don't mind smaller portions but I wish I had known before hand because otherwise I would have ordered differently. I was still hungry when I left. That being said.. the sandwich was really flavorful and the broccolini was an excellent texture addition. The eggs were very fluffy as well. read more

This Place is awesome! but DOGS INSIDE?! No Thanks! Will never be back So Unsanitary where People eat and Drink! He put a blanket under, but that does Not help! Neat little place on a trendy, hipster street. During Covid-19 they are working from a limited menu, limited seating, and limited staff. While they are doing their dead-level best, I'm sure there's another star awaiting once all this is behind us. My Cortado and Avocado Toast complimented one another perfectly, and both were prepared expertly. I also appreciate the attention to sanitation during our pandemic. Nice. Easy to say, "Give 'em a whirl." Let's keep supporting our local entrepreneurs! read more

Such a solid coffee spot! I actually had one of the best coffees of my life (pictured) at the location in Optimist Hall. It was their season sweet potato spice coffee. Phenomenal. I visited both locations in Charlotte during my recent visit, both did not disappoint. read more
Coffee shops have a special place in my heart, and Undercurrent is one of my absolute favorites in Charlotte. Their coffee is amazing. My go to is usually an iced latte with brown sugar and oat milk, but I've also tried some of their seasonal drinks and they don't disappoint. The avocado toast is incredible, and adding the egg is a must. We also tried their peanut butter and banana toast and it was SO tasty! They also have a case of baked goods. Over time we've tried a few, and each of them were really good. Basically Undercurrent doesn't miss. If you give them a try, tag me and let me know what you think! xoxo, @rondaexplores read more

Undercurrent is the best coffee shop in Charlotte hands down! The inside has the best vibes with great seating options and so much natural light. Always great music playing , the staff is super friendly and gives great recommendations! I've had food and coffee here several times and it never disappoints! The grit bowl is always a yummy choice and you can't go wrong with any of the drinks on the menu read more
I've gotten the golden milk and matcha numerous times now and it has been consistently good. Team members are always so patient and friendly. The last few visits this year, the place has been packed/ no where to sit. So I come prepared to take my order to go rather than stay and work. Which would be so nice because Undercurrent has a nice vibe to work in! read more

A very stylish, clean, and modern coffee shop that appears to have a regular clientele. Not particularly large, but well-designed to accommodate a decent amount of seating. I spent a couple of hours here on my laptop, and will definitely return. (I did find my Americano to be slightly on the bitter side, but perhaps that's just where my taste buds were at on this day.) read more
I visited the shop on a Saturday and it was very busy. Parking: There is a very small area in the back of the shop for customers. You will likely find parking as I did, on the street. This particular Saturday I was o my able to find a seat after I ordered and another customer happened to be leaving. Undercurrent sells and uses coffee from Onyx Coffee out of Arkansas. I ordered and enjoyed the candied ginger cappuccino. The staff was extremely nice and if I should visit Charlotte again I will definitely stop in again. read more
This cafe is very modern on the inside. I really like the feel of it. I got an iced chai with almond milk and it wad very good! I am going to try and keep this place in mind for whenever I'm in this area again. It didn't take long for me to get my order and everyone was wearing a mask, which I appreciated. read more

The Skinny: Nice coffee shop with great drinks & eats. Great place to sit and get some work done. Atmosphere: Cute coffee shop vibes with open seating and free WiFi. Lots of people during the week working on their laptops. Can be a little loud with ppl on calls/talking but overall a great spot to spend the morning working, eating, and caffeinating. Close to a variety of shops and breweries as well! Food/Drinks: Lattes/coffee are quite good and pretty. The Avocado & hummus toast were yummy as well. Not your average plain toast - a good amount of ingredients and flavors that all blend together nicely. Portions were generous. Everything from the drinks to the food to the atmosphere are instagrammable - you won't be disappointed! read more

I really enjoyed this coffee spot! Staff was so friendly, I like their seasonal menu and food options. I only stopped for coffee, they had plenty of places to sit and free wifi. Love their outdoor seating too, it was the perfect day for it this morning. I got the seasonal some kind of vegan white chocolate orange latte with oat milk and let me tell you it was SO delicious!! I wish I would have take a picture of the entire seasonal menu because it all sounded good and was hard to choose!! I highly recommend the drink I got! read more

Nice place to grab a coffee. Great ambiance and friendly staff. I had an iced latte which came out quick and tasting great. Buuuttttt I also ordered a breakfast sandwich...which left much to be desired and the reason I had to dock a star. Although listed as a sandwich, it should really be called a slider...it's TINY. Think silver dollar sized. And for $6... without adding the bacon! May come back for a coffee, but will avoid the sandwich...perhaps a scone or something next time. read more

My friend and I stopped in for a coffee right before the shop closed. The people here were so nice they made us really awesome drinks and let's us sit in while they cleaned up for shut down. The drink was amazing. It was a part of their spring menu, white chocolate pistachio orange latte. It was very smooth drink. Really nice on the pallet. read more
I stopped by here a couple of Wednesday's ago with my wife for our morning coffee. Whenever we visit a new city we like to try local coffee shops each day and on this day it was Undercurrent Coffees turn. The inside of this place is quite large with a place to order your coffee, a comfortable seating area complete with couches, a lunch counter that looks over the coffee making area and then seats throughout the rest. For my coffee on this day I decided to go with one of their specialty lattes, the Southern Spice. While I can't exactly remember the ingredients in it, it did have a number of fall spices as well as sweet potato. Within a few minutes both my wife and I had our coffees and we were out the door. The taste of my coffee was definitely interesting as you could really taste the spice and sweet potatoes which mostly overpowered the coffee. Since it was pleasant though, I didn't really mind it. Lest you think that they didn't use real sweet potatoes, I can assure you that they did. The bottom of my coffee was filled with bits of it which I guess didn't get puréed as finely as the rest. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed the coffee that I ordered and would be interesting in trying some more. read more

During my lunch break this afternoon I decided to stop by Undercurrent Coffee. As for parking, it didn't take long to find, there's plenty of street parking right out front. Upon entering the front, you get a view of the entire shop, thanks to the open layout. The store was clean and not at all chaotic. The color theme is wood, white, & blue which definitely gave it a beach-y/relaxing feel. (i'm guessing hence the name) All of the employees I interacted with were very kind & attentive. Im pretty sure I waited less than 5 minutes for my drink which is a win for me. Next time, I'll be back for their avocado toast (which has a gluten- free bread option) , but for today. Whoever made my matcha deserves a raise because its in my top 3 of all time.. I'll be back! Update: I came back & forgot to ask for my Matcha to be iced. The barista said she would prefer to remake my drink, than give me the cup of ice I kept insisting on.. She said the whole taste would be off, & as I am not exactly a matcha professional (just an enthusiast) I really appreciate her looking out. Thank you for hiring good people. update: went back for an avocado toast & added a poached egg. SO good. there's also picnic tables outside that are super convenient for meals that are kinda on the go. read more
I love this coffee shop's space, location, ambiance, beverage offerings, and food choices (well, except the pastries look to be kind of afterthoughts). Well appointed and comfy seating and work options abound here. I ordered a cortado, which was quite good, but I did have to add sugar to since I'm used to the Florida/Cuban version of the cortado with sugar already added. Nonetheless, the coffee flavor was divine. I have never ever ordered avocado toast before (because it seems so trendy), but I did here and it was truly delicious with the nuts, sumac, olive oil, and the tasty toast base. I would definitely get it again. My friend got the grits with some veggies in it and that was simply amazing. Service varies from person to person that works there. The first person took our orders was extremely kind and personable, while when I went back for an Americano about a half-hour later, the new person was clearly having a bad day and projected it on to me and other customers. read more
