But the grits at Easy Like Sunday were completely different in the best way. Creamy with the slightest grainy texture and so perfectly seasoned that you don't need to add butter, salt, pepper or anything else. I had been daydreaming about those grits for two years. We finally made it back this past Friday and arrived when the doors opened at 9:00am. We were seated immediately. I ordered the Little Bit of Everything with eggs, bacon, those unforgettable grits and a thick, fluffy, delicious buttermilk pancake. That first spoonful of grits tasted exactly the way I remembered, maybe even better. My eyes actually welled up with tears. I know that sounds extreme but I'm not exaggerating. After waiting two years to taste them again, they felt familiar and comforting, like coming home. Our waitress, Diana, made the morning even more special. She was warm, welcoming and accommodating. When I told her I could nearly cry over those grits, she didn't make me feel silly or dramatic. She agreed saying,"Oh, I know! We have the best grits!" We had never met her before, yet she treated us as though she had known us for years. Easy Like Sunday is a hidden little treasure tucked away across the street from Park Road Shopping Center. And if you are timid, start here. Otherwise, there are add-ons like very good fried chicken, shrimp and grits, ham, pulled smoked pork, crab, bacon, fried shrimp. fried eggs and other combos. It was their Cheddar jalapeño biscuit, crispy fried chicken, maple sausage gravy, cowboy candy, with maple syrup drizzle.
