Stopped by Summer Coffee in Ballantyne and the two baristas working were super sweet and energetic--I really appreciated their vibe and customer service. We ordered a mocha and a latte with oat milk. I had mine with vanilla and caramel, and even added extra simple syrup. Unfortunately, the drinks just didn't stand out. I found myself sipping more for the caffeine than the flavor, and by the end, I couldn't really remember the taste. I was hoping to recreate that rich, memorable coffee experience I've had in Asheville, but this didn't quite hit the same. I've been to several of their locations around the Charlotte area and they all share the same strengths: consistently great coffee, friendly baristas, and a calm, grounded atmosphere that makes even a quick stop feel like a small reset in the day. This particular shop isn't large, and the laptop crowd has definitely discovered it. There are only a handful of tables, so I felt genuinely lucky to land the last open one and settle in with my cortado. The barista was so friendly. I walked in not knowing anything about this coffee shop or coffee in general and she was able to make a great recommendation. I got the seasonal blueberry pie! Summit has consistently delicious seasonal drinks. Most recently, I tried the cinnamon toast crunch latte and LOVED it, especially since I'm already obsessed with that cereal. This is a great spot to meet a friend for coffee with several tables outside for conversating. The interior is a little small and gets cramped if there is a line. I've never tried their food but they do have a small selection of pastries and bagels. I wouldn't count on a big breakfast here, maybe just go for the coffee. read more

LA MARZOCCO! bravo on the 5 star latte this morning! As a travelling coffee snob I try to look at pics of the barista station to "see things" lol and I spotted the house made syrups. I got here and was very happy to see a La Marzocco. Quick friendly service and exceptional vanilla latte. I've been to a hundred "roasters" from Alaska to Boston, Florida to San Diego and this is exactly the kind of place I'm always looking for: complex espresso roast, perfectly dialed in crema, perfect temp smooth steamed milk, house made syrup. Hello everyone, I was able to try Summit Coffee in Ballantyne today and it is by far one of the best coffee shops in the Ballantyne area. First off the interior of this place is spectacular and has that sorta beach feeling to it ( I say myself) and is comfy and great for studying. The equipment they are using is by far some of the best equipment on the market being La Marzocco and accompanying grinder. The baristas at this shop are highly skilled in their craft and are great texturing the milk and knowing the ins and outs of the coffee market and craft! Let's get on to the drink! I got just a basic latte and it was on point! Nothing was missing from the flavor of the beans to the texturing of the milk, and did I mention Latte Art?!?! This is one of the only places in Charlotte that does it that I have tried. They also sell their coffee beans as well and they are decently priced as well and are well filled. I recommend this place to anyone that wants to skip the mainstream coffee chains!! Skip Starbucks and come to Summit Coffee!! read more

A solid option for this who can't be bothered by the line at the place around the corner.... It's a small, quaint place - the outdoor seating is nice but it's not ideal for chilly days. The baked goods are limited but delicious. Not sure why our son is insistent it's the best bagel south of NYC. (That's quite the compliment). Seems like a weird spot next to several fast food breakfast joints, but I do hope it stays as it's great to have an overflow option when everywhere else is busting at the seams. A small but cozy coffee shop with several drink items. I enjoyed both the iced matcha and Big Bun (think: a cinnamon and roll and a croissant having a baby). It was delish. Great location for Summit in the Ballantyne area. I stopped in with a girlfriend for a quick coffee and as I am familiar with the summit coffee shop, it was a quick order and my latte was delicious.
