The Café con Leche was equally impressive and absolutely delicious. The donuts were just as fresh and delicious as always, and having plenty of options to choose from made the visit even better. Breakfast was made to order from fresh ingredients, piping hot and intentionally seasoned. As their bright and cheerful owner puts it, the main ingredient is love. And trust me, you can taste it. When I asked if they had caramel drizzle, her response was simply, "No," with no warmth or attempt to offer an alternative. I completely understand that arriving close to closing can be frustrating for employees, and we were mindful of the time. However, the doors were still open, the posted business hours indicated the shop was open until 11:00 p.m., and we were respectful customers who knew what we wanted and intended to order quickly. What was most disappointing wasn't that they were closing soon--it was how unwelcome we were made to feel. As first-time visitors to Charlotte and Ballantyne, this wasn't the hospitality we expected. Customer service matters just as much during the last few minutes of business as it does throughout the rest of the day.
