Stopped into Mugs while killing some time before checking into my hotel, and it ended up being a really pleasant surprise. It definitely felt like a spot with a lot of regulars, which is always nice to see, and the overall vibe was very family-oriented and welcoming. One person handled both my order and preparation, and he was kind and friendly, especially once I started the conversation. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and loved that I could choose the bread. I went with the croissant, and it was a great choice. The sandwich was toasted, really good and filling. For my drink, I had the Cinnamon Toast latte/Americano Macchiato with oat milk, and it was delicious. Flavorful without being overly sweet and very well balanced. A couple small things worth noting: when I tried to use the restroom, both were locked, which was a little inconvenient. Also, the napkins available were the small coffee-style ones, and I definitely needed a few more for the sandwich. Overall, this was a solid stop with good food, a comforting atmosphere, and friendly service. If I'm in the area again, I'd come back to try more items on the menu. read more

This was a neat find in Charlotte, stuck way in the back of a pair of facing strip malls. Somewhat hard to find, but worth the effort. Very nice ambiance with comfy chairs and a faux leather couch. They even have some board games adults can pull off the shelf and play while having their morning brew. Kid-friendly for the right age. We had a couple cups of regular coffee (nothing fancy, but 4 star stuff), a scone (nice 3 star scone when not heated up; our first was a sodden mess after heating), and a croissant sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese (4 star tasting sandwich that also might have been a smidge better on firmer bread ... the microwave just melts the whole thing together). We also got three 3-star muffins to go ... and they were excellent even the next day. All in all, this was a 4 star stop for us in the morning. While a single server handled the whole room, she was up to the task. We'll return. read more

Stopped in for an afternoon pick-me-up and noticed how the tables were full of gamer types. The young man behind the counter was very helpful and the place has a pleasant, casual, good vibe. If I was a local, I would probably frequent this cafe. Oh and my coffee was great. read more

One of the benefits of moving back to the Montford area for me is that I am right back by one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. Mugs is tucked away in a charming little neighborhood shopping center. They have a variety of seating including comfy lounge chairs and couches, but my favorite thing to do is grab one of the bar seats. They have a great variety of warm and cold lattes including frequent specials, and the baristas are incredibly friendly. Don't sleep on their breakfast sandwiches either! All in all they have everything you could want in a neighborhood coffee shop. read more

The coffee is so good here I drove 20 minutes there and 20 back each day I was in town. The latte and matcha are tasty. They have food options and it's a comfortable and welcoming hang. Great coffee shop and conveniently located. Loved this area. It was rather packed on Sunday morning but wow they move fast! I tried one of their seasonal Halloween drinks - the Jack o Latte. Yum! All the flavors married perfectly but weren't overly sweet or powerful. The thing that stood out most to me about Mugs was their prices! They are so affordable! I couldn't believe my latte was less than $5, that's kind of unheard of nowadays. They also are dog friendly. Great bar, too. Cozy and loved the nook with the fireplace area. Staff is extremely efficient when making your coffees. They make sure it's quick yet still made with perfection. The coffee is absolutely amazing. Personally, I get syrups in my coffee. And not once has the coffee been too sour or too sweet. The area is really good for working. Music is not too loud and it's not too cold. Perfect spot to just chill with friends or get some work done. 1000% recommend. read more

Gem in the neighborhood! Ambiance - it's the place for board games. Apparently many people staying here for hours. The shop does offer a variety of games as well. WiFi is available. The only thing is that the restroom is not super tidy, but I won't complain about it. Service - the barista was nice and helpful with my questions. She was also fast serving my coffee. Food - a good selection of drinks and snacks - if you get hungry playing games. The seasonal flavors were impressive and I love the cinnamon crunch. The best coffee shop in Charlotte. Staff is over the top friendly and personable, the drinks (especially matcha) are so so flavorful. Small batch and local! The shop has tons of seating, and I love to come for board game nights, book clubs, and writing club! The only thing I would improve are the food options! There are restaurants and Harris teeter nearby, but I'd love to stay in house. read more

i hate to do this, but i need to let people know what's really going on here in case they also waste their hard earned money on this horrendous coffee... admittedly, i can be a bit of a snob & i did take that into account when reading the reviews of Mugs Coffee but nothing could've prepared me for just how bad this cup of coffee would be. devastating... if you don't mind shit coffee, it is a nice setting. cozy & cute. but the coffee itself is just unacceptable. low quality and badly made. i ordered an iced cappuccino with soy milk. i had two sips then went home and made coffee. again, i never leave bad reviews but the fact that people are raving about this coffee gives me a sense of urgency to set the record straight... truth hurts read more

This place is terrible customer service. I arrived and, admittedly, folks were busy, preparing orders. However, I wasl waiting to order and no one even acknowledged my presence. As a customer, I fully understand when people are busy, but I do expect someone to acknowledge my presence and indicate that they will get to me as soon as possible. I waited at least five minutes and no one even looked up at me and I was the only one there. read more

Charlotte has its share of good independent coffee shops right now, and most of the ones I go to have a sleek, modern veneer to them. Mugs is different from those, having a more unassuming, neighborhood-y feel. Neither vibe is inherently better, and it's nice to be able to choose one or the other to fit your mood. Consistent with the vibe, Mugs' pricing is lower than that of any other place in town I can think of, and that, of course, is much appreciated, especially in this inflationary environment. On the rainy Sunday afternoon I was here, it was packed (see photo), and the only spot open was a stool at the bar. Normally this would be more than fine (a preference, even), but the bar counter at Mugs is a few higher than normal, for whatever reason, so that was a little awkward for laptop work (whether seated or standing). As for the coffee itself (specifically, a small americano), it was fine, but not great. Regardless, Mugs will definitely be in my coffee shop rotation from now on. read more

First off, best iced americano in Charlotte! There's 4 shots of espresso in their small and my husband and I go here once a week for our morning coffee. Oliver and his team already know the order when we walk in giving the best service. Besides the americano, their chai is so tasty and served extra hot! Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick coffee or even a place to study with some background noise. read more

So this is your typical coffee shop that serves coffee and other "fancy"coffees like Lattes and cappuccinos. The people were friendly and the restaurant was clean and inviting. We both opted for the Cappuccinos and while she got the banana nut muffin, I got a delightful lemon cherry muffin. Think a cherry muffin with a lemon custard cream in the middle. It was great. I want more of those. I didn't hear anybody arguing politics with anyone and everyone I saw that came in had on a mask and even put them on when they went to the restrooms or upon leaving. The coffee was good so if Im back in the South Charlotte are and am in need of coffee I will return. read more

I love the way Oliver and his team at Mug's is handling the pandemic. Prop open the door, let one customer in at a time, and presto, they're pouring your hot brew as usual. What could be simpler? Besides all the usual suspects from the barista, they also have a limited assortment of sweets, breakfast sammies, and trail bars. The only difference now is you cannot dine inside which, sadly, is the best part of a coffee shop. No more hanging with your pals on the couches or working the computer at a high top. Think of how many world problems are not being solved, or novels being written. It's a shame. On a positive note, outside they do have a few tables spaced apart with two chairs at each. If your partner is Corona-free, nice place to sit and sip. Keep frequenting Mugs, they deserve all the whirls you can give 'em. read more

My first time here in Mugs and it won't be my last. The only place in Charlotte where you can bring your dog (no size or breed restrictions) inside and enjoy a coffee. The employees were so kind and even gave my little Benji a treat while I was ordering. I ordered a caramel latte with almond milk and it was delicious :) They have many flavor options and alternative dairy-free milk! This is a friendly and warm coffee shop I love local coffee shops and have visited here every year when I visit Charlotte. People meet each other, study, work, and my friend and I chatted with strangers as they sat with their well behaved dogs. I wish I could come here more often. Mugs Coffee offers solid coffee, an excellent space to work/hangout, and amazing service! I've tried their Americano hot and iced along with their espresso. The hot Americano was too weak in my opinion, but the espresso alone is enjoyable with subtle fruit nuances that don't come through in the Americano. The iced Americano is MUCH stronger than the hot version and is great! The shop is a large space with plenty of tables for working or playing some of the board games they offer. The customer service has been outstanding in my visits. Mugs has incredibly friendly staff, and you can tell by the interactions with any "regulars" you encounter that they offer a true neighborhood coffee shop feel. read more

Mugs Coffee allows well-behaved dogs INside their cafe! We were able to enjoy our lates and Fenny was able to enjoy the AC in this summer heat! The baristas are all so friendly and would give him a treat. The lates are also delicious. We've been here several times throughout the summer and have gotten iced and hot drinks. It's hard to find a reasonably priced coffee shop these days, but Mugs is just that! I met a friend here for coffee around 10am on a Saturday and there was no problem finding a table. There was a short line and the coffee was ready quickly after we ordered. My chai latte was only $3 and tasted excellent. The interior is quaint and has all types of seating, including bar space, small tables, large tables, couches, and that "at home" feeling. It is located in a strip mall, but parking is easy as I had no problem finding a spot right up front. The staff was friendly and there was no rush, although there were signs on some tables said they were reserved later that day. read more

Had to have my coffee fix this morning and I wanted to try out a new coffee shop! Mugs is really cute and the service is amazing. You can tell there are regulars here but also they are super helpful to new customers. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly they whipped up a peppermint mocha and a bacon egg and cheese on a croissant but everything tastes amazing and I am going to be early for work! I found my favorite coffee shop in the Rock Hill, SC / Charlotte, NC area. It is this one. They have free WiFi that you can connect to without a password. Plus their WiFi is fast. How I found this place? Well, I won a $30 gift card by buying a raffle ticket at an outdoor event about a month ago. I'm really glad I did. Inside this coffee shop you will find lots of comfortable seating that includes couches, chairs, bar stools and leather seats. Their air conditioning is set at the perfect temperature that makes for a comfortable atmosphere but yet ambient surroundings. Also, everything in updated and clean. All I can say is that is very relaxing every time I come here. On Scene: Every time I come here, I get great fast friendly customer service no matter who waits on me. And the main thing that drives me here, great coffee. I also like their white chocolate mocha. Features: I noticed there are paintings and art work on the walls in here today. You can actually buy these as there are prices on each art piece or painting. For example, I see photos of art work above my table for $100 each. It is labeled "A study in smoke". How cool is that. Whatever! It just tells you that you can find some unusual items for sale here. In summary, I like this coffee shop. You can come here and relax and have great cup of coffee. I just wished there was one closer to where I live. The owners should look at building more of these and give Starbucks a "run for their money". read more

That's because they had a huge map outlining the historical trade routes that coffee beans were transported on, as well as an homage to some of the patrons of coffee cultivation. They backed up these historical displays with great customer service, a solid cup of coffee, and a truly mesmerizing ambiance. I've been to so many coffee shops in my life, and Qahwah House was the first time, if not ever, then definitely in a long time, that I felt like I experienced something unique. I loved it. Overall, I loved Qahwah House, and I'll assuredly be back as soon as I can. I'd also recommend it to anybody looking for something new to experience!

Lovely atmosphere, and love learning about coffee. I got the Yemeni chocolate (stuffed with kanafe, surprise!) and a decaf Yemeni latte because I needed to sleep in a couple of hours. Neither disappointed! They also roast in house, so I brought back a 1/2 lb bag. Owner told me to wait a day or so, since they had just roasted the beans the night before (allows beans to rest and the flavors to come out). When I brewed them with my Fellow back home Make this a definite stop!

I read through some of the other reviews and I want to set the record straight. Yes, it's inside a church but there is a separate entrance. Yes, there are Christian books but also other genres. Yes, the coffee is very affordable BECAUSE all the staff are volunteers. No one is getting paid and they LOVE what they do. All smiles and great service. The proceeds go to local and global missions of the church. Win, win all the way around. The place itself is very spacious. Two levels. The seating areas are comfortable and far enough apart you can have some semiprivacy if you need it. My friend who brought me says she comes here all the time to study (she's in college). All of the staff knew her by name. (love places like that) I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't really speak to the coffee (although my friend says it's pretty good). I am a tea drinker though and they have a variety of flavors, some refresher juice drinks, a few pastries. Please support. Every now and again if you're thinking of getting coffee or a pastry, choose them. Why not? Do some good for the community through others who are committed to giving back.
