    Ube pancake (half order)
    Heather V.

2.5 stars. Our server was incredible! Answered all our questions and was so friendly. The food was mid. It was good but not memorable. And expensive. Pancakes for $20? Breakfast burrito for $18? Yikes. For all the hype this place gets, I was somewhat disappointed. The purple ube pancakes themselves have zero flavor, it's the glaze that tastes like cake. Its all created by social media is my guess. And your hostess... seemed annoyed and bothered to greet all your patrons. As the first impression of your business - she was quite awful and Id move her to simply seating ppl. I was there on 5/16 if that helps narrow it down...

Easy Like Sunday has a great brunch vibe, but the experience was a mix of good food and not-so-great service. We came in with a party of 10 and waited about an hour, which was expected since we didn't plan ahead. The wait wasn't bad at all, especially with good conversation. Once seated, service started off slow--we waited a bit just to get water, and it felt like the staff may have been overwhelmed or not fully prepared for a larger group. We ordered a little bit of everything--French toast, vegan hash, short rib hash, eggs over easy, shrimp and grits--basically a full brunch spread. The food overall was good and looked great coming out. No major complaints across the table, though the potatoes were a bit overcooked. What really stood out, though, was the service from the expeditors bringing out the food. The interactions felt rushed and came off with a bit of an attitude, which took away from the overall experience. It just didn't feel warm or welcoming. The space is small and has a nice, cozy vibe, but it may not be the best setup for large groups during busy brunch hours. Overall, the food was solid, but the service needs improvement to match the atmosphere.

Tried ELS for the first time and it did not disappoint. We went on a Saturday morning for brunch and they were busy but we managed to grab a patio seat outside for our party of 6. Our server was attentive and provided us with great service as well.

For me, this place was insanely overrated. The food was decent. The service was fine up until the server was hovering over me as I paid and tried to determine my tip--which is where the experience completely crashed and burned. The prices they charge don't justify the small serving sizes. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits and said it was good. I had the short rib hash and split it with my husband. Our plate was good but nothing exceptional. We indulged in the mimosa flight to celebrate a special occasion. The price wasn't posted on the menu and of course I don't expect it to be cheap but $40 was over the top for a basic bottle of prosecco and some flavored juices. Maybe if they were freshly squeezed that could justify the price a bit. The presentation was also confusing. It wasn't explained what each little carafe was and you'd think that the garnish would denote the flavor of each juice but that wasn't the case. For example, there was a carafe of mango juice with a strawberry garnish. As for the ambiance, we sat outside and this was a great choice in this situation since the weather was absolutely beautiful. My only complaint was that our table was very wobbly. We had to grab a paper to go bag, fold it up and prop it underneath to make it stop moving. Overall, I'm not motivated to return. With the menu prices, you'd expect something a little more elevated--not fancy, but certainly not the basic service and presentation that we received. Side note: they currently have ube pancakes on the menu. When I asked where the ube flavor comes from, they said it was a syrup. That's not a true ube flavor. If you ever try anything labeled as ube and it just tastes like vanilla, it is not the real thing.

Yes yes & yes again!! I went for breakfast on Valentines Day & there was a wait, which was expected, of about 50 mins or so. I like that for the outside diners they offered blankets and hand warmers (nice touch). I secured a spot at the bar and ordered the "all in one" breakfast which includes eggs, meat, cheese grits or home fries & i got the Churros Pancakes. They were fluffy and Devinely topped with whipped cream and the cheese grits...(see pic #4). I love that although the restaurant was busy the food was still hot & didn't take long. I washed it down with a passion fruit mimosa which was deeelish. The staff were still courteous even with the rotating traffic. I didn't take pics of the inside since it was super busy and I wanted to be respectful. But under 1 slower time its a very intimate and cutesy place get delicious food! Will definitely return.

I finally made it into this spot for brunch on a rare Monday when I was off. Every other time I've attempted to get in, the line was out the door. I sat at the bar, just me and it took a moment to get acknowledged but once the bar tender came over, it was all good. I ordered the basic breakfast, 2 eggs, bacon, potato's and sub's the toast for classic French toast. They cooked my eggs perfectly (a pinch of salt and pepper would make them perfect), the bacon was crispy and I think they might deep fry it so it was dry, the potatoes were def deep fried and lacked any seasoning at all and finally the French toast was too soft for my liking (no crispy buttery edges) nor did it have a creamy custard like middle. Overall, it was just a breakfast. I'll come back for some other trendy brunch items like the shrimp and grits and/or fried chicken and corn meal pancake before making any recommendations

Delicious food! Everything was very good and delicious. We enjoyed our brunch on the large outdoor area on a rare 70 degree day in January. One improvement I would recommend is a chocolate syrup with that Oreo pancakes instead of maple. I feel maple changed the flavor profile and took away from the chocolate and Oreo goodness.

Food 5/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 4/5 (busy place) Usually a wait. Cool staff. They say I need 85 characters. lol.

Eggs, sausage & grits. Eggs & pulled pork hash. Both were just okay. Rather bland.
    Angel F.

This is a cute little spot, with a long wait (went on a Thursday morning.) Although our server was nice and attentive, the food was just subpar and pricey. I had the pulled pork hash, which they sat directly on top of the potatoes which made the potatoes mushy. There also wasn't enough flavor, and the eggs were bland. Cute establishment, but there's better breakfast places out there.

Finally made it! Was able to walk right up and be seated, which I'm so thankful for because there is usually a wait. We came a little after 9am. Shortly after we were seated more people started to line up outside. the restaurant is a little smaller than i imagined it to be inside, and now the wait makes sense. Tables are fairly close together, so you will most likely hear others conversations. The food was well worth it! I'm so glad i was able to go. The ube pancakes were amazinggggg! I love ube and every chance i get i try a new item. Between the actual pancakes and the sauce it was a perfect combination. The shrimp and grits were *chefs kiss* plenty of flavor! Our waitress was super nice, helpful, and attentive. The chicken could've been a little more flavorful but it wasn't bad.

    Gabrielle W.

First off, the service here was amazing!! From the host to our waitress, everyone was so kind and attentive. Truly A1 service! That said, I don't think the food quite lives up to the hype or the wait time. We tried the ube pancakes (pretty solid), cowboy bacon (definitely our favorite item), and chicken sausage (a bit dry). The eggs were just okay, not much flavor or anything special. The peach lavender mimosa was nice though! Overall, it's a decent brunch spot with great vibes and stellar service, but the food itself didn't wow us enough to make me want to rush back. Still, judging by how packed it was, they're clearly doing something right with their community.... Maybe we ordered wrong-- idk! It was cool though. 3.5/5

First time visiting this restaurant and cannot believe that I have not ever stopped in prior to today. No reservations required however, generally there is a little bit of a wait. The menu has the typical brunch items to choose from, as well as some other typical lunch choices. Their French Toast was so amazing. They were so good that I had to place an additional order to go.

I came in on a Wednesday around 12pm and although there was no hostess, the bartender was able to signal for me to have a seat wherever I wanted. So I did. I will say that it was a bit difficult to enjoy the ambience once I sat down because the kitchen crew had their music on so loud that I could barely hear my own thoughts. Later, I had some trouble deciding what to eat, so I asked the bartender (he never told me his name, sorry) and he recommended their new pumpkin pancakes and WOW were they sweet. The walnuts they added on top, however, helped. All in all, had an alright time, but I'm not so sure the food, ambience nor service was special enough to keep me coming back any time soon.

Is there a way to get on the waitlist online while in commute or is it in person sign up only?

You can add yourself on the waitlist, however you'll still need to check in once at the restaurant. I did this 2 months ago, not sure if it's anything has changed. I did not lose my place in line so it seems to be worth it. Enjoy!

I just want to confirm that this is breakfast all day. I see menu titles such as "brunch after dark" and "lunch" but are these available at all times and if not what are the times each menu is available? Basically can I order breakfast at 5:30pm?

I went there at 5:30 in the evening. The brunch after dark is obviously available then but the brunch menu is also available all open hours.

My classic turkey sandwich was a bit underwhelming for the price. I think $17.99 for an ordinary turkey sandwich is a lot since the cheese wasn't even melted, nor was the bread toasted. My husband's meatloaf sandwich was $19.99 and his sweet tea was $3.99. The hummus appetizer, which was a few mouthfuls for two people to share, was $5.00. Our bill was a whopping $59.00 and some change, including tip. We skipped dessert. I think a little piece of cake was around $15.99. If we choose to return I'd order something else to justify the price. The atmosphere is nice and our server was pleasant. I'd say try it out if you're in the neighborhood.

That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.
