    French toast
    Megan P.

I went here in a Friday morning. It wasn't busy when I arrived and I was seat right away. There is plenty of parking around this place it's near a shopping center. Inside was very clean and the staff were friendly. Their menu was good it had a variety. I was in the mood for something sweet. They had this almond croissant with berries French toast. I was interested bc I never had French toast made out of a croissant before. It was delicious. It came with fresh berries. I also ordered a side of eggs with my French toast. And I had a smoothie which was good. I thought the smoothie position was a little small for the price but it was still good. This place was nice and I will be back again to check out some other stuff on their menu.

Phenomenal breakfast, wow such a cool place. The decor and the food were eggceptional!! The Crepe omelet was just an interesting twist and the seasonal pancakes were great. Can't wait to go back! Service was also equivalent in every way.

Add Eggspectation to your go-to spots for brunch . I would definitely suggest a reservation or getting on waitlist on the weekend . The worse part of our experience was hungrily awaiting a table . Overall a large restaurant, beautifully decorated and clean most importantly. We started off with a mimosa flight . Can't go wrong . I ordered the French Toast platter . I couldn't quite pin exactly what kind of bread was used but it was absolutely delicious. Soft but still crisp . Flavorful and fluffy . I despise "eggy" French toast and they did not disappoint. I love that the potatoes were thin and crisp compared to home fries at most restaurants being cubed/diced potatoes . Unfortunately I didn't get a great picture of the lambs chops but they were also delicious. Initially thought it was overcooked off first glance but once we took a bite, we were relieved that it cooked perfectly tender and juicy . Our little one ordered the "smores" like pancake, no complaints there . I'm excited to see what their lunch/dinner menu has to offer .

While in town for a quick trip my sister and I decided to grab brunch from this spot ! We arrived around 9:30am. The shopping plaza they are located in was hosting a craft show, so I can see how occasionally there may be issues with parking. We arrived a few minutes prior to them placing up barricades and were able to score a parking spot at the perimeter of the shopping plaza. When we walked in the host immediately greeted us with a smile and graciously assisted us with fondling a seat. The wait staff came over within minutes of us being seated. She also had a pleasant demeanor. We started off ordering waters . When she returned with waters we placed both our drink and food orders. I ordered a cappuccino with almond milk and my sister ordered a latte and requested pumpkin syrup. For our food order: I had the shrimp and crab omelette, my sister had the veggie omlette, and we ordered a side order of the almond crunch French toast to share. The drinks came out first, but I was surprised by how quickly the food order arrived. The omelette is served with a small side salad and potatoes. The only thing I am sure that was cooked to order was the omelette- and as quickly as it arrived- I am not so certain it was made to order. The coffee was really good. I am a true coffee drinker and appreciate the taste of coffee. I would love to know what beans they use for their coffee drinks - so good. The omelette had great flavor. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside . The salad was simple- but fresh ! I would say that you can taste that they use quality ingredients and fresh ingredients- which I am a fan of! The side French toast was heavenly ! The almonds added a good crunch to the Overall I would highly recommend this spot! Everything gets a check from me- ambience , service and food ! If you have an opportunity to patronize this spot I can assure you that you will not be disappointed!

The food is amazing at this place. We had the gingerbread pancakes and they were spectacular. In the All-American the three meets were incredible... The bacon is from heaven... cooked to perfection and a balanced smoke and salt taste.! This place really is amazing. The staff are incredibly friendly and is great for groups or a date. This might be one of my favorite breakfast places I've visited. Will definitely be back and we'll put on my favorites list.

This restaurant is beautiful inside, especially with the Christmas décor. Parking is easy in the garage nearby. We were greeted right away, and my friend and I enjoyed a great breakfast. Our waitress, Izzy, was wonderful--definitely ask for her! I had the tacos, and my friend had French toast and bacon. We both loved our meals. I'll definitely be back!

    Salted Caramel Beignets
    Cara P.

My husband and I finally made the 45 min drive to Eggspectation and I'm glad we did. We went on a Friday morning and the environment was so lovely. We were seated immediately and ordered the beignets, mimosa flight, French toast, eggs, etc. Everything was delicious but the beignets. They were not presented well and were super dense. I'll pass on the beignets next time and stick to the French toast. We will be back.

I've been to several Eggspectations across America and Canada and was excited to see that Charlotte had one and directly in my neck of the woods. Went for Sunday Brunch and it was good but not great. I don't feel compelled to rush back to this restaurant for another but in time I think I'll revisit it again and hopefully leave with a willingness to return. I tried both the Smoked Salmon Crostinis and the Smoked Salmon Benedict. The crostinis seemed lightly toasted vs grilled so it lacked the desired crunch I've come to expect with this starter. The creme cheese for a few of the crostinis was slopped heavy handily on them and the red onion and capers weren't pickled or sautéd at all. Raw onions, that's different and no lemon wedge to add some acidity to cut through the fattiness of the creme cheese. Seemed very rushed in its preparation. Not a fan. I've had better from other French inspired restaurants here in Charlotte. The Salmon Benedict was close to perfection. My poached eggs were slightly over how I've typically gotten them, but that's minute in the overall taste of the dish. Definitely five stars regardless. Sunday rush usually dies down between 1-2pm so to avoid 45mins wait time and slower service consider going at that time. Take advantage of sitting outside once all this pollen is done with. Good luck!!

Gluten free roll substituted for gf toast with the scrambled egg breakfast
    Tracy R.

We finally got to try this restaurant because they've added a waitlist. We go out for brunch pretty much every Sunday so this place with such a big and varied menu was one we wanted to try. I have to eat gluten free and was hoping they'd have some options. The only gf items are pancakes and gf bread. The server was aware that the lyonnaise potatoes are cooked in the same fryer as all the other fried items so I was able to avoid that. The portions are very generous, and everything we had was good. I had the scrambled egg breakfast with fruit subbed for the potatoes. It came with several slices of ham, three or four pieces of bacon and two sausage links! No gf toast though. So instead eventually they brought a gf roll, that was barely toasted and with no butter or jelly. The eggs and breakfast meats were good. My husband had the chicken and waffles - enormous amount of chicken so we took a quarter of it home. Our son had the chicken schnitzel which was nicely prepared and plated. The menu has a lot of variety but not really enough gf options so I probably won't go back but it was worth a try.

Strawberry Banana Crepé - part of their Spring menu!
    Rosa O.

I ordered the Strawberry Banana Crepe from their new spring menu, and it did not disappoint. It was light, fresh, and perfectly sweet: basically spring on a plate. But what really blew me away was the orange juice. I was literally sitting right next to the machine squeezing fresh oranges into juice, and wow... you can taste the difference. So fresh, so vibrant, like sunshine in a glass. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a delicious, friendly breakfast in Ballantyne.

    Shrimp and Crab Omelette
    Cory C.

"Elevated Breakfast". That's the theme and I would say they do a pretty good job of providing this. Everyone was very friendly and professional. The food was very very good and the atmosphere feels upscale without being pretentious. My only real gripe about this place is the speed of service. It took FOREVER to get my food. I had the Shrimp and Crab Omelette which was absolutely amazing! I subb d out the "mixed green" side for cheesey grits and that was the right choice for sure. I also had a couple of cocktails that were....well....they were okay. There didn't seem to be an actual bartender working and my server and another server were the ones that made both drinks. Not bad, by any means, but not quite what I think the drinks are supposed to be. It took a very long time for my food to come out and even longer to get the check once I was finished. If they just tighten up the attentiveness of the staff I think it would be worth the slightly high price. (Side note: I don't think they are really that over priced for the area and what you get).

Great service. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area. The garlic bread came out quick and was soo tasty! The crab Benedict was well seasoned and beautifully presented. The chicken and waffles were well cooked but the chicken lacked seasoning. We will definitely be back, such an impressive menu with lots to try!

    Pistachio Latte

4.5/5 Came here for brunch yesterday, and would come back. The service was great, the waiter kept checking on us. Food was definitely on the expensive side for Charlotte, but had bigger portions so we shared all of it. We got the spring lamb burger, Cajun shrimp and grits, and toluca poutine. Lamb burger was 4/5 - had good flavor and was moist and tender, burger bun wasn't dry, salad was okay. Cajun shrimp and grits 4/5, shrimp nicely charred and not overcooked, but a little too strong of a bell pepper flavor but still nicely balanced. The poutine was okay 3.5/5, the cheese curds were just okay. For drinks we got the pistachio nut latte and eggspectation Bloody Mary, which were both good.

Cajun Shrimp & Grits - amazing!!!

The food is over the moon delicious with plenty of options and reasonable serving sizes. Even with the slightly high price point, it is well worth every penny. And they take allergies SO seriously! Literally went through a bunch of ingredients to find what would and wouldn't be dairy-allergy safe. Atmosphere is fun but cozy, too. 100% recommend! In-depth: Postino has quickly become one of my favorite places in the CLT area after my 10/10 experience here. To start, the food. My word, it's amazing! Everything my friend and I tried was delicious. The bruschetta is 100% worth trying (the spinach artichoke one is my favorite), and the west coaster panini + romaine salad was tasty at every bite. Their wine is also good quality, with a decent-sized portion poured. Allergy safety is a major thing for them, too. Our server (Lee = the best waitress!) and her manager looked through their bread and ingredients for about 30 minutes to confirm what was and wasn't dairy safe (I asked how dairy allergies are handled for when I bring my husband next time). They also had quite a few gluten-free options, too. The manager explained that she wants people to be able to just come in and relax for a few hours without worrying if they'll get sick, which I truly, truly appreciate. Lee shared a similar sentiment, which was amazing. Now price... Yes, it is a *bit* pricey, but it is well worth it. Nothing felt lacking as far as flavor goes, and the allergy safety is a huge thing. This is one of the few places I felt my sandwich and salad were worth every penny, even if it was $17. Also, their rewards program is great. I got a free bruschetta board, and they offer several other perks. Make sure to sign up before or while dining there to get some good deals! In addition to their sincere care for allergy safety, the service is fantastic all around. They do group service, meaning you'll have several servers, and they encourage you to grab anyone if you have questions. This takes the pressure off of waiting for one server to walk by and really helped me relax. And the atmosphere? I could stay there all day! It's a really fun vibe, but the lighting and seating are very cozy. Overall, I've already recommended this place to 5+ people and will be returning soon

The staff was amazing and I was astounded by their dedication to their craft. The best part was the food. We started with the chefs board which had an array of cheeses and spreads. The most memorable was the whipped feta. OMG. The Ambiance was the only thing I feel could use some tuning as there's not enough sound deadening to make the music out? Really has the makings of a 5-star restaurant, but there were some off-putting things that got in the way. Menu is excellent. Lots of choices, your place mat is your menu until you order. Our server stuck to his order of march: drinks, appetizers, mains desserts. It was mostly a non-alcohol dinner, so the drinks were an odd mix of soda water and colored drinks with flags. Can't tell you about wine list or other prices. Order taking took awhile and we got through it. My son and I each had the Steak Frites ($39.70). Nice portions. Suggest you order meat cooked to a higher level of doneness as they tend to go light on cooking. I ordered medium and got almost rare. Son ordered medium well and got high medium. Truffle fries were plentiful and a bit too salty with the Kosher salt. A decent dinner. One Maxx Burger ($21.85) inhaled by the 16 year old male. Liked it. One Kid Chicken Tenders ($10.30) with three sides. She liked the mashed potatoes and the chicken. One Chicken Picatta ($25.50), a special. Son paid the bill, I don't have receipt. Wife liked the chicken and the accompanying spaghetti with capers was very good. She took home a portion good for lunch the next day. One Pappardelle Bolognese ($29.35) well enjoyed by granddaughter. One California Chicken Sandwich ($20.70). Daughter-in-law ate half of it. Not a big eater. I did not like the finished meal plates snapped up one at a time. We were talking and it took awhile. Suggest you tell your waiters/bussers to wait until everyone is done, to ask if it is OK to take the plates and get it done. The slow eaters are under the gun to hurry up...and we, after dinner, thought that Burton's wanted diners to move quickly through their meals and clear out for other guests. This was evident when our server, who was not very well-versed, asked for dessert orders. We said no desserts. He left the table for a rather long time and returned, again asking for dessert orders. Obviously he was stymied not having that item accomplished. He left. Again, after quite a pause, we flagged another server down and asked for our bill. So, great menu and decent offerings, but we felt rushed. We all agreed, over ice cream bought at another vendor. Will be back. Burton's has a lot going for it, so will be worth your time, effort and money.

We also got roasted beets and the cauliflower for sides. The Brussels aren't on the menu during the summer but the cauliflower was amazing. They were dressed with a tangy anchovy like pesto and Parmesan. Unique and so tasty. I've seen a couple negative reviews about portion size and cookery, but each of our meals were prepared exceptionally well and we were full when we left. In addition, the service was prompt and friendly and her recommendations were spot on. It was a little hot to sit outside, but the inside was bustling and tables were enjoying their evening. In a word, outstanding! Susan and I had tix for a show at…read morethe AMP so went here for an early dinner on a Friday evening. Highly recommend an advance reservation. Seating Staff was very nice and took us to our seats in a booth right away. It was already very busy at 5p on a Friday, with great weather. I've been to many of the Noble restaurants around Charlotte but this was my first time at a Roosters and found it to be a great experience overall. Our server was Melissa, a true professional, personable, knowledgable and available for questions and guidance on the menu. Susan had the NC shrimp, I had the Trout we shared the Okra appetizer and Anson Mill Grits and Carolina Gold Rice as our sides. It was very LOUD, that's the only down side to our experience. The bar area is VERY large so it was livley on a Friday evening. We were there to see String Cheese Incident at the Amp. The food quality was top tier! Everything was just delicious, well presented, nice size portions and maybe just a little on the pricey side but expected for the location and access to the AMP. Parking can be a challenge, the close in lots are all pay using an App but I found the Boyle Garage a block away was FREE. Melissa said there is a 'private dining room' that can be reserved in the back of the main dining room. However at times when it's not reserved you can request seating there where it's much quieter! They have very nice covered patio and live music on Wed evenings. I will be returning for certain and will ALWAYS ask for Melissa!
