You pay at the counter and they bring you your order. Today I tried the special Bang Bang steak. Lots of great ingredients and a little spicy. Really good. We also got a Mother Earth and a steak wrap with a side of vegan Mac and cheese. My only request is they have a Flower Child in the Concord/Lake Norman area. I would eat here more often. read more

We love flower child!!! Easily located in the Bowl with plenty of seating both inside and out. You go up to the counter to order, get a number and they bring it out to you, so you don't have someone waiting on you but everyone was really nice and helpful and I noticed they cleaned tables quickly to get more people seated. Lots of options- salads, wraps, kids meals, desserts, bowls etc. I get the Mother Earth bowl and it is SO good!!! So many different flavors and so flavorful. We placed our order at the register counter and then was given a number for our order. Seating is self served. I like how everything you need is out on the floor and you can take what you need (I.e. silverware, napkins, to-go containers, condiments, etc). I ordered the avocado Caesar salad and added steak to it. My friend ordered an entree which comes with your pick of a protein and two sides. This place is SUCH an lovely spot that I'm so glad I got to go to during dinner. It's one of those places where you go and order at the counter, the food will be brought to your table. It's pretty quick service and the staff are quite friendly. I ordered some sangria which was super delicious and not too sweet, tasted fresh! I ordered some steak and a couple sides including the Mac n cheese which was nice and smooth. The price point is pretty good too. This place is also ideal for people who have gluten allergies as they have dishes that accommodate such allergies. The drink selection is nice because they have artisanal drinks with a variety of flavors! Their whole menu is a great variety with seafood options, vegetarian options, and they have sweet treats too. I really enjoyed the generous portion of avocado hummus it was very good on this wrap Lol. It came with mixed greens tossed it a lemon flavored something but it was a subtle flavor the greens looked and tasted very fresh. I felt the selection of side dishes that accompanied the sandwiches and wraps lacked variety and all other side choices were priced separately. I decided to add a side of roasted sweet potato fries to share and luckily they were good and had some crispness to them. I had chicken enchiladas which was an excellent choice. The myriad of flavors and colors created a beautiful and deliciously fresh bite. No flavor or texture overpowered the dish. Even the poblano cream sauce and jalapeños were a perfect balance of spiciness and flavor. The ambiance is casual and comfortable with seating both inside as well as an outside patio. It was a hot humid day, so I sat inside. What stood out most was how the employees were won top of everything, cleaning tables and even mopping the floor when needed. We checked out this 2nd location of Flower Child at this new strip, "The Bowl'" in Ballantyne, Charlotte...quite bustling already! We got there super early for dinner (5:30 pmish?), and there was already a line...busy-busy!! We chose to sit outside on their patio...which turned out to be quite nice. I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba, and my husband got the Chicken Enchilada...and we also shared 2 sides, Broccoli and Mac 'n Cheese. Well, everything was every bit as good as I had anticipated. Truly SO fresh!! All the veggies looked sparkling new, ripe, and freshly cut! I even loved this drink, Watermelon flavored Sangria (?). There were actually quite a few tempting items on the menu...and I found it hard to choose! I would have preferred ordering at the table, but this is a casual eatery where you stand in line, and order at the counter. However, I came knowing that. The thing I found extremely annoying was their food delivery system. We had to walk back to the counter twice to ask about our items! (?!?) They didn't deliver the drinks in a timely manner...and totally forgot the sides! Normally, I would dock a star or two for something like that. An excellent place for healthy eating. I cannot recommend it any higher. We discovered it from the Templeton list.com, as a place that uses healthy oils, is non-GMO and has Gluten Free options. Our party of 4 had a great dishes: A French Dip sandwich, Yellowfin Tuna Poke bowl, Steak and Chicken Yakisoba Noodles. Plus a plate of Sweet Potato Fries for the table. Would give five stars for the helpful, friendly, and thoughtful service. However, our wraps simply weren't good. My friend ordered a chicken wrap and couldn't finish it because the meat was tough. I ordered a falafel wrap that was made oddly; the falafel was at the top third, the greens were in the middle third, and the sauce was at the bottom rather than having the ingredients all mixed together. The other drawback was the acoustics ~ way too loud inside. Maybe that's the plan? They don't want customers sticking around and enjoying a conversation? read more

It has a beautiful airy dining area, a great patio and menu with delicious, healthy options. Of course, service was very friendly and attentive, as you'd expect from a new restaurant that has only been open for two weeks. Both my wife and I went with the chicken and two sides. My sweet potato fries arrived first. However, they were burnt. They happily replaced them. The substitute was just okay. The other sides cauliflower risotto, asparagus salad and broccoli were all outstanding. The biggest problem was the chicken, which was lukewarm (at best) and very dry. Last but not least, the gluten-free cashew chocolate chip cookies were da bomb. I'd return just for those. I'm excited about this new Ballantyne option and hope to return, but they still have a way to go. Based on my experience, I think 3 stars is a stretch, but we hope to return. Flower Child has gone downhill fast. I used to love this spot for the vegan/vegetarian options, but lately it's been nothing but disappointing. The last few times I've eaten here I've gotten sick, been shorted on protein, and honestly treated poorly by staff. The Bowl is such a great location, and the Flower Child space itself is cute, but the quality just isn't there anymore. On top of that, the restaurant doesn't even feel clean half the time -- floors dirty, tables sticky, and just an overall unkept vibe. We used to eat here every Friday night, and now I'm not sure we'll be back. Every time I order tofu it's like 4 tiny pieces, and the to-go bowls keep getting skimpier. Either serve a real portion or get smaller bowls, because right now it feels like we're paying for air. Last night sealed it. The food came out burning hot (which I thought was fine at first), but I got sick right after eating it. It honestly tasted like they just tossed everything on a pan with way too much salt and old fries. And the service? For a place that already closes earlier than everywhere else at The Bowl, they sure let you know. One time staff was sweeping under our feet before we were done, and last night they cleared our bowls before I even had my purse on. At 9:05??? Ridiculous. I really wanted to keep loving Flower Child, but between the dirty restaurant, the bad food, and the crappy service, they've got to step it up. read more

We ordered: sweet potato soup, Mediterranean chicken kabobs with a yogurt sauce over quinoa and veges, a steak wrap, a steak bowl with broccoli and calabrian cauliflower sides and a turkey avocado cobb salad. Although portion size was good and attractive, none of us really enjoyed what we had. Most of the side sauces were too spicy and vinegar based for us. After 3 sauce types we finally got a ranch type of dressing that was okay. My broccoli and cauliflower were very crunchy; it seemed like they were thrown on the grill for a quick char. I must say my steak was tender and that was the only thing I really enjoyed. We arrived about 2:30pm on Sunday and it was busy but still seating was available. You order and they give you a number and then you find yourself a table. I ordered salmon potatoes and broccoli. My husband had chicken with mac and cheese and chile sweet potatoes. Everything was delicious and the quality and service justified the price.
