    Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich
    Tamika M.

I've been here for brunch before many years ago, and decided to go back and give it a try for lunch. Overall, I enjoyed my chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. The chicken sandwich could of used a little more aioli and been a little less crispy. The sandwich was slightly overcooked and lacked any spice. I'll definitely go back here though.

This was my second time eating at the restaurant vs ordering room service (2024 was my first time) we enjoyed both dinner and brunch here and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. For dinner we asked for the bar menu because we weren't really in the mood for anything on the regular restaurant menu and they had no problem providing us with the separate menu. Dinner was also served with fresh bread along with a trio of butter(paprika, cheddar jalapeño and regular) and breakfast you get a basket of pastries like croissants, muffins, and little fruit filled pastries. The drinks were strong and delicious and our servers were fantastic. The chicken sandwich at dinner was delicious but I think I woild have enjoyed it more had I added like lettuce and tomato to it(my problem not theirs) and the wagu burger was delicious and cooked perfectly. The French fries were delicious and the kids all loved them. One of our littles didn't want a full meal just French fries and berries and they were both a nice serving. Breakfast was delicious but I do wish for $18 the French toast would come with something like a side of fruit or something but I get it. All in all we love coming here and will be back again for our yearly stay!

Bucatini Pasta: eggplant, fig, pomegranate seed, goat cheese, walnut cream

We tried their dinner and brunch! Both meals were SO good. For dinner they serve you a trio of butters to pair with fresh bread. They are all really good! One is packed with herbs, another is coated in a paprika, and the third is their house butter. For an appetizer we got the roasted cauliflower served over tahini tzatziki, and topped with toasted pistachios. I opted for the bucatini pasta for my entree and it ended up having super unique sweet flavor that was delicious. Ingredients included roasted eggplant, goat cheese, walnut cream, figs, and pomegranate seed. What a combo right? It works! My husband got the Joyce Chicken Roulade. It had a glazed chestnut puree, poultry sauce, artichoke and truffle. Very flavorful! I highly recommend. I got a cocktail and my husband got a beer. My drink was delicious. They serve you a lemon/lime to add to your water after you sit down, which was a nice touch. The next morning we came back for breakfast. I got a glass of champagne and one of their fun juice combinations. I choose the Pineapple, Cucumber, Celery, Kale, Juice. It was good and I felt healthy. For breakfast I got the chorizo hash which was out of this world! I would get it again. The tortilla on top was so good. My husband got focaccia tuna sandwich. The focaccia bread was insanely tender and delicious. The tuna also had good texture and flavor. I wish you could opt to get it served warm as that would level up the flavor. I would also like to just make it a melt by adding cheese. I can't wait to be back in the area as I would absolutely go for brunch again and I will rebook here for dinner anytime I stay at the hotel too. The highlight of our visit was for sure the amazing food, but the ambiance is right behind it. The rooms are decked out in art, tall booths, large tables, gorgeous seating, and an epic bar.

Great staff. Great menu. Great management. I ate here about 6x on my 3 day visit. Breakfast staff was excellent and very friendly. I relaxed and worked all day and they made sure all my needs were met the whole day. Dinner staff was great also. Menu is great and the bar menu has some hidden gems also. Been coming here for brunch as they have a nice selection of contemporary breakfast. Today's service was slow, but my breakfast food was what I would have expected in terms of taste and quality. This place has easy parking at the back of Ballantyne hotel.

This restaurant is located in the Ballantyne Hotel. Upscale restaurant but you can get away with casual dress. Prices are for sure upscale. It was my birthday weekend and we stayed at the hotel so we were able to charge our food to our room. Delicious meal but I was a little disappointed by my 'on the house' bday treat. It was a slice of red velvet cake that was rather small and nothing to rave over. I appreciated it for sure but probably would have rather ordered a dessert off the menu. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful and the art work is outstanding. Intimate setting, great for a special occasion, date night. Service was great.

Ambiance: upscale restaurant with full bar. The area was separated between more-for-dining (tables, brighter, closer to kitchen) and more-for-drink (sofas, high tables, dimmed lights, closer to bar). Not full on a weekend dinner, but recommend to make reservations if possible. The food tasted great except it was a bit too salty for a few of them. Truffle fries - which I did not take photo - worth ordering as side to share. The in-house made ice cream was impressive. Reason for not five stars: - the wait between appetizer and entree was too long. The server was keen on cleaning up the table so there was like 20 minutes empty table from when server collected all appetizer plates to we got entrees. - entree price a bit too high given the portion.

This is a really good restaurant for being in a hotel. They are known for their old fashioned and even have two whiskeys (makers mark and woodford) they are specially made for them. The lamb loin I had for dinner was delicious. And if I would have only gone for dinner this would have been a five star review. Unfortunately, when I went for lunch, the shrimp and grits were just ok.

    Side of petite waffles

Went to brunch this morning with my parents and husband. The hostess was kind enough to clean a booth for us and it was extremely comfortable. I am 9 months pregnant so being comfortable to enjoy a meal is everything to me right now. I had a glass of tomato juice with a lime, it was very good. My husband had a cocktail endless summer and he loved it. My parents had a Bloody Mary and a classic mimosa all was enjoyed. Water service was really good. Moving on I ordered the build your own omelette and you got to choose 4 items. It was very good and I enjoyed it. Potatoes were good. My mom loved her classic eggs Benedict and said her eggs were perfectly poached. My dad enjoyed his build your own omelette as well. My husband said his chicken for his chicken and waffles was great but the waffles were just okay at best and I agreed. Kinda upset that I ordered the petite waffle side was not worth the calories for me even though they looked beautiful. Overall good service and it was packed in there. Nice place for brunch and for such a grand hotel we felt the price was fair. We would come back again.

It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

I've heard rave reviews about this place so Michelle & I went for Sunday Brunch…read more They recommended a reservation so we had one @ 12n. It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.

They even still have the 120 year old pews! If you ask your server, you are likely to hear the entire story of the place. It's pretty amazing. They recently received a Michelin recommendation and it's totally deserved. It's a buffet, but most of the hot food is actually served by a person which is something that I particularly appreciate. (I really don't like touching the handles of spoons that hundreds of people have touched.) Some of the stuff is self serve but not any of the hot dishes. Absolutely everything I tried was outstanding. Like everything. There are a few things that they consider "pass around" which means that they are brought over to you by a server at random intervals. For everything else, you just help yourself. I went with a friend of mine who has a deep appreciation for a southern food. He was absolutely amazed. Honestly, I can't think of a better place to have chosen to eat in a short time I had in Charlotte. I've attached a picture of the menu. I tried just about everything. I wasn't disappointed in a single thing, and I was completely wowed by many of them. The servers were wonderful. Very friendly and very willing to talk to us about the history and the food items that were there. Highest recommendation!

My friend found this spot and I have to say, I'm not going to say the "S" word - because it didn't apply. It was all Hospitality. Pretty much the entire line up of options. Not a condescending or impatient tone - warm and welcoming. Same with the next person. Even convinced my friend to get a dessert. Not that I need my arm twisted. The dining area was well kept. Clean. The condiments were well stocked and organized. I saw two different team members taking care of business there even asking if I needed anything. Bathrooms were immaculate. Don't see that very often - at least I don't in public places. The food was what we were looking for. Comfort food. With taste, not muted - just good flavor and consistency. A far cry from the bland, dry foods we had experienced the days prior. It was one of the first meals I really enjoyed on this trip to NC. Not saying that others were bad - they just didn't align with my taste preferences/expectations. Something about how Fried Chicken and Pork Chops are prepared in the South (or NOT California). Tender. Juicy. Mac & Cheese - not watery or overcooked. And I don't think I've ever had bad collared greens in my life. It's one of the handful of green vegetables I love having. Almost forgot parking. It's in kinda a plaza/strip mall setting. Free space and lots when we went (lunch). Not having to look for or pay for parking is always a plus for me. So, it's a chain. But I'd definitely go back. I almost ordered more but was saving the stomach space for dinner.
