What was intended to be a joyful 40th birthday celebration became an unnecessarily prolonged evening spent waiting for nearly every aspect of our dining experience, all while receiving little to no communication. Delays can happen, but a lack of communication and accountability is far more difficult to overlook. One of our guests even had a drink spilled on them, and shockingly, there was no apology or acknowledgment from the staff. While some members of the bar team appeared to make an effort to assist, those attempts were inconsistent and overshadowed by what appeared to be internal confusion and a lack of coordination among the staff. From our perspective, the restaurant has significant issues with morale, communication, execution, and overall service delivery. At its core, the hospitality industry is built on service, and that was the very element missing throughout our visit. Oak Steakhouse markets itself as an elevated dining experience, and we arrived expecting that standard. Unfortunately, our experience reflected the opposite. It is difficult to reconcile the expectation of premium hospitality with service that consistently fell short, particularly when an automatic gratuity is applied regardless of the quality of the experience. We ordered a mix of a lot of things but I will talk about the Oak Burger. Steakhouse Wedge, Truffle Fries & Salmon. Our waitress was overwhelmed and was not new but could use a bit more training on how to share & offer specials to everyone at the table if they are available. The oak burger. Although you appreciate a big burger (especially when it's $20) but you also want to be able to bite it. Just my 2 cents, make it more flat & round instead of thick and round. The flavor was good but because of how it's served, it was really hard to eat when you are dressed up. Even cutting it with a knife wasn't a good option. One of the specials was the Salmon. I was shocked this was served at this restaurant. It was thin with the skin still on it and the skin wasn't even crispy. I've purchased a better piece of salmon FROZEN at Costco! It was a huge disappointment. The drinks were great but when someone orders a drink with a big ice rock, share that you get a pour and a half so there is no question later. The absolute best thing on the menu was the Oak chocolate cake & the Steakhouse wedge salad! I could have ordered 2 wedge salads and cocktails and been fine! I can't say enough about the wedge salad. We also got the Candied beat salad. The 2 of those salads mixed, incredible. I will share that the only reason I gave it 3 stars and not less was the salad and cake. If I could give them a sixth star, I would! Oak Charlotte is my new all time favorite happy hour! I sat at the bar so I could mix and match happy hour menu (weeknights at the bar from 5-7) and regular dinner menu items. Absolutely everything tasted amazing!! The Spring Punch mocktail was a perfect mix of light and fruity flavoring. The rolls are served perfectly warm and have a pinch of (Himalayan?) salt on them. The bangers and mash was melt-in-your-mouth tender steak and an incredible mushroom, mashed potato, steak and sauce flavor profile. I am a sucker for truffle fries so of course I had to indulge (and when they say 'for the table' sized servings they mean it). The service was well paced, attentive and friendly. The whole place has a classic, sophisticated vibe and the bar was filled with couples, ladies nights groups, and young professionals. The restaurant opens at 5:00pm and by all appearances the reservation had been unnecessary - there was one other couple dining when we arrived. I was surprised later reservation times had not been available as it still didn't seem very full at 6:30pm. The hostess and our waiter were wonderful. Very attentive and kind. Water glasses were kept full and the food came out quickly. We both ordered the filet medium, and we also ordered the table mac and cheese. Our waiter gifted us the brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes, which were both excellent. We are glad we got to try them as we would choose them over the Mac in future. We are not usually big fans of Brussels but the sauce was delicious and they were tender. The steak was absolute perfection, it melted in the mouth. The medium was a true medium. The only thing that surprised me was that the waiter was quick to take the serving board of sides. With only two of us eating three table size sides, there was quite a bit left of each. I expected him to box them up and return them but our check was paid and it became clear he was not returning. I understand two of the three sides were gifted, but better to take them home to convince our family (the babysitters of the night) they need to visit also than to trash them. WOW! My wife and I had dinner at Oak Steakhouse for our one year anniversary last evening. It was incredible. They made it so special for us. We were treated to the best seat in the house with beautiful flower petals. The manager, Ken Smith ,personally worked with me to print special menus with a photo from our wedding. My wife loved it. We've never experienced hospitality and care like we got at Oak Steakhouse. The quiet atmosphere feels private and cozy with soft lighting, and is beautifully decorated. The food was beyond great. Do yourself a favor and get the fried oysters. Get the steak cooked to perfection. The brussel sprouts are divine. We even got to toast marshmallows at our table and have beautifully elevated s'mores. Decadent cheesecake with savory strawberry compote. This was a dinner for the ages. I'd never been here but had a gift card to Indigo Road Hospitality group restaurants. It was Queens Feast 1/2025, so no better time to check out this hip, intimate, but yet classic upscale vibe steakhouse. Our reservation was for 2ppl at 6:30 pm on Sunday, the last day of Queens Feast and throughout the evening it got pretty busy. It's not super fancy but not casual. The atmosphere is dark and intimate, deff good for a date night. However, there were families & groups of ladies dining, and a 70th birthday dinner in their private dining room. Our server, April was fantastic and super cool! We ordered a bottle of Robert Hall Cab and it was good! For the price point, I've learned it's more economical to get a bottle of wine than individual glasses or cocktails which were $16-22 each. They also have a book of more expansive wine options to choose from on the higher end. I ordered the Oysters Rockefeller for my appetizer, it came with 2. It was my first time having them and they were tasty. For my entree I had the Surf and Turf, which was a 6oz CAB bistro steak and 3 grilled shrimp. It was delicious but the portion was not what I was expecting and it didn't come with a side or accompaniment like some of the others entrees did. So I ordered the Mac & Cheese and it was sooo good, creamy and cheesy! For dessert I selected the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake which was delicious. My husband had the CAB meatballs w/polenta appetizer which I sampled and I wish I had gotten them! His entree was the Steak Frites. His steak was the same CAB bistro I had... but those herb & truffles frites were the best I've had: the perfect crisp! The Dark Chocolate Torte was the dessert he chose and it was too rich for him, but I enjoyed the dense dark chocolate and chocolate crumb crust. First time here and will try again. Tried this one for restaurant week and not a bad experience. One hostess only so getting checked in and seated was slow. We both went with the steak frites and was very good. The steaks were cooked correctly and the fries were crisp and well seasoned. The dessert was just ok so probably will skip that next time. Biggest complaint was the slow service all around. Checking in, getting seated and the kitchen was slow. Our waitress was great and we could tell the issue was the kitchen as multiple tables were waiting for food with different servers. Great Father's Day experience all around! Our server Aaron was great. Gave my family and I complementary bubbles for a toast to start of our dinner. A lovely touch. I really enjoyed my tequila drink. It was made with agave lime, and Campari! Loved it was refreshing, and not so sweet. For our appetizers, we got the oyster Rockefeller! They were delicious. My father, who is not a big fan of seafood, even found the flavor and texture balanced! Their wedge salad comes with crushed hard-boiled egg, which I feel is a very nice touch that a lot of restaurant wedges, lack. My mother ordered the Chilean Seabass, and was not disappointed. I tried a little bit of her fish, although I am not a fish person,it was not overly fishy. The zucchini/squash melody the bass was rested on, brought the entire dish together. My father's prime rib was sliced table side, for a little extra flare. The prime rib was very tender, prepared to a perfect medium rare. The Ajou sauce was a littttleee salty for him, but I enjoyed the sauce entirely. (I love salt, lol). For myself, I ordered the Australian lamb rack, it was rested and drizzled with chimichurri as well as some haricot verts and diced red potatoes. Out of all the dishes I tried, I may be biased, but the Australian rack of lamb seemed to be the most flavor forward dish of the night. The brussels sprouts were perfectly prepared charred perfection topped with various pickled veggies. My only negative comment for the night, was the slice of pineapple upside down cake that came with the prime ribeye special. Unfortunately it was very dry, crumbly, and lacking flavor. We did not take more than one bite. When I return, I am hoping to try the duck breast and their filet mignon! Because it was a special occasion, I wanted to try some thing I don't normally get. In January my server lost my debit card at the end of my meal. Paid full price with no complementary items. Was told that they would call me back the following day but never heard anything back. I called them a few days later and was told that the card was not found and that they would escalate the issue to higher management so they could come up with a solution to compensate somehow for the inconvenience. Never heard from them. Reached out several times with no reply. Besides the horrible customer service, the food also wasn't great. Overpriced for bad quality. Mac and cheese was dry and bland. This steakhouse has never disappointed me! The food is always amazing! My rack of lamb was delicious. I ate a portion of one and most of my potatoes and a few of my green beans. The bartender was doing double duty as our server and tending the bar & he did a great job. Loved how intimate the restaurant was as well. However, my issue came when my leftovers were packed. Like I said, I ate a piece of my lamb chop & some of my veggies. When I got my food back from being bagged, the only thing that was packed was ONE portion of my lamb. No veggies or my other half eaten chop. I was horrified. Parking was hard to find at first. We were able to find parking in a parking garage across from the fox restaurant. We couldn't make a reservation so we sat at the bar which is first come first serve (it's best to make a reservations) the restaurant was very elegant and a great vibe. This is great place for anniversary celebrations and date night. Our server made us great drinks and provided great service. I had the lamb (came with green beans and mini potatoes) my hubby had dry aged steak. Our sides (which is alacart and can feed two people) was Mac and cheese, asparagus, and Brussels sprouts, (for appetizer) we had a lobster M (can't remember the second word) Everything was delicious. Oak Steakhouse continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte. I have been several times since my last review, but most recently left Thanksgiving Dinner up to them. They offered a three-course pre-fixed menu on Thanksgiving with several other items for those who did not want the pre-fix menu. Upon arriving we were greeted at the door with a warm welcome and taken to our table. Our server, Stuart, was amazing from beginning to end. We did choose the pre-fix menu. First Course Options: Oyster Chowder, Fall Salad or a Caesar Salad. Second Course: Turkey, white & dark, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole and macaroni & cheese. Third Course Options: Pecan Pie, Apple Pie, or Pumpkin Cheesecake. The salad courses were served with fresh bread and homemade butter. The salads were plentiful and fresh. Only down side, my Caesar had a little too much dressing for my liking. The turkey dinner was amazing! Each item was cooked to perfection and like the salads the plate was plentiful, which called for leftovers. And, finally, the desserts. Pumpkin Cheesecake was definitely the winner. Light, fluffy and all pumpkin flavor. We also enjoyed the apple pie. Overall, again, Oak lived up to what I expected. We dined here during queens feast. My favorite thing we got was the meatball app! For entrees I ordered an upgrade, the strips steak with truffle fries and the first steak came out medium well when I ordered it rare plus. The manager took it back and served me a fresh steak but the steak was tough... surprisingly not great for a steak house. My husband ordered the burger and the burger was completely raw when he ordered it medium. They also took that back and served him a new one. We booked a table at Oak for our first wedding anniversary and were blown away by the experience. Manager Kenneth Smith and Assistant Manager Melissa (who also took care of us tableside) personalized our entire experience (including our menu!). We ordered beautiful drinks, delicious salads, starters, and steaks, but they also treated us to a few off-menu items as a gift for our special day. We HIGHLY recommend the tableside s'more's service. It was not only fun, but every ingredient was homemade, down to the gingerbread crackers. Anything we didn't finish was boxed up gently, and we were even given instructions on reheating the chocolate cake (15 seconds in the microwave exactly, per Ken's recommendation). For your reference, the ambiance is upscale, but accessible -- it doesn't feel stuffy, just trendy and cool! We can't wait to go back and I can't wait to bring our family when they come visit. I served as chaperone for my little sister's 17th birthday dinner at Oak and had a pleasant experience: Location is so quaint and very aesthetically pleasing 10/10! The service was impeccable, and all of the food came out together. They were very accommodating to our bustling party with various inquiries. The food was pretty good. The filet mignon was my favorite, and the girls loved the fries. I had a salad that wasn't too flavorful. I was told the lemonade wasn't great, but the burgers were a hit. We topped it off with complementary chocolate cake for the birthday girl, but the reviews for that weren't too good. Overall, this is a GREAT date spot in a good location (parking garage nearby and also some individual spots) and the service is fantastic. I planned a company party in the semi-private room of the Oak. We were sorely disappointed. I was forced to agree to a $5,000 minimum which given our head count we could never have met. We asked if we could put our bar tab toward the minimum, but were 'curtly' told no. We didn't even reach 1/2 of the minimum with our party despite ordering the most expensive meals and appetizers. We ended up having to purchase several bottles of expensive wine just to meet the minimum. I noticed they are using a separate party/booking company (tripleseat) to manage their parties which is really a money grab. I will not be returning to the Oak for any work events or to dine personally. It was awful. read more

I went here for my friend's birthday dinner and it was nice. We parked in a close parking garage (which was free) but I was expecting complimentary valet. Other reviews have said this location had valet so I was confused. I got the bone marrow and peach salad. Both were very mid & pricey - bone marrow didn't really have any flavor and it was a tiny portion that was actually edible , and the peach salad was a bit dry. My friends got the surf n turf and Mashed potatoes, and seemed to like it. Our waiter was amazing though ! An overall cute date spot. I might return to try other dishes. read more

Was able to attend an event here and had a solid overall experience. Considering the full private room, the servers did a great job of getting orders and serving food fast and efficiently, and without making mistakes (which was impressive as people came in at different times). I got a ceasar salad, shared a steak and salmon plate with my fiance, and tried the chocolate tarte and dulce de leche blondie for dessert. The highlights for me were the steak and salmon, which were both perfectly cooked. the steak literally melted in my mouth. The chocolate tarte was also delicious. However, the ceasar salad was a little boring, and the sides for the main plates were just mashed potatoes and literally three asparagus all piled together. That being said, if you're looking for a really good steak, you'll get one here.
