We were about 30 minutes late due to the traffic on 77. A hostess greeted us upon entry and we joined the rest of our party. The restaurant was very clean and the noise volume low enough to where we could visit and comfortably carry on conversations. Our waiter was gracious and helped us to catch up with the rest of our party. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Nior and Dinner while the rest of our party finished their appetizers and salads. I ordered the steak frites and it was just wonderful! My boyfriend ordered the special which was halibut, asparagus, and mushroom risotto. Everything was perfect! The couple that was seated across from us split the special. The kitchen didn't hesitate to split this dish for them in the kitchen before bringing it out to our table. This is just excellent customer service! They are an elderly couple and could not possibly have eaten the entire meal by themselves. Our waiter was very attentive and nobody at the table ever had an empty glass. Also, your plate was cleared the moment that you finished with your meal. $29 Lobster roll special. We asked if fresh and told "yes". Guess it was at one time but I doubt lobster was cooked that day and meat removed. We had one each- mine was with butter. The other, lettuce (never have seen that in a Maine lobster roll) and aioli). The one with butter had a nice brioche roll but most of the lobster was small claw ends vs nice chunks. The one on lettuce was better, more larger pieces of lobster, but meat was put onto a lot of lettuce to prop it up. I am a frequent guest here and have always had top notch service. Today was not that day. The place was not busy - probably due to heat. The fellow behind the bar acted like he remembered me, but then proceeded to ignore me. I didn't enjoy the beer I ordered, but was never asked. My fries were not hot, and my dis sandwich was less than enjoyable. I had to get up and find him to ask for a check, he then greeted other guests before coming to me. Firstly, I loved how allergen friendly they are. They immediately ask you if there's any allergies to be aware of and are helpful when ordering. My husband has a serious dairy allergy, so considerations like these are crucial for a stress-free dining experience. Food was pretty good, too! My only criticism is that flavor felt lacking to an extent. For example, the chicken piccatta was great! But... I had to ask for a lemon to squeeze over it because I couldn't taste any lemon. My downside was my Mediterranean Chicken Risotto. The protein portion size was good - but the chicken was bland and I wished for a larger rice portion. I called 3 days in advance to book a reservation for a party of 7. I was told they could only accommodate a group of 6, I booked it anyways. As a turn of event , one of my friends cancelled. When we got to our table, it had 7 chairs! Not sure why I was lied to. Menu was decent. Paying for table bread is crazy though. I was also disappointed they didn't offer oysters nor mussels. Ordered: she-crab soup, crab crusted haddock with jasmine rice and broccoli. The service was slow. But the restaurant wasn't packed. There were quite a few empty tables. Went on Valentines Night - Thankfully they had some extra space for a small party of 5. Our waitress was attentive, she gave us pretty good recommendations, and made sure we had what we needed. I got the Cabernet Braised Short Ribs w/ Mashed Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts and I definitely could taste to Cabernet. I wasn't expecting them to have a strong cab taste, but they were fine. The potatoes tasted a bit earthy considering there wasn't any peeling in them. The brussels sprouts was good. We also go the Filet Mignon, and it was under cooked, we asked for medium well and it was cooked medium rare. Then we get to the NY Strip, the strip was probably the best tasting out of the 3 in my opinion. The menu wasn't huge but still had some diverse options depending on what you're looking for. I've been meaning to get back to Burtons since the Yelp event, and the chance for a proper date night finally appeared. We arrived to a very busy dining room, just ahead of the Friday evening rush. After a short wait while the host checked on tables, we were shown to a comfortable booth. Our waitress was lovely and took excellent care of us, including a clear explanation of their allergy procedures. We're not gluten free, but it was reassuring to see that level of attention. We started with the bread service, which was a great choice. A warm pull‑apart roll with olive oil, butter and tapenade made for a simple, satisfying appetizer before the main courses arrived. Mrs. K chose the crabcake sandwich, a generous crabcake on a brioche bun with truffle fries. I'm not convinced the truffle fries were worth the upgrade since most of the topping had fallen off, and my regular fries were excellent. Your mileage may vary. I went with the Maxx Burger, cooked exactly medium rare as requested. A tall, indulgent stack with a big patty, all the trimmings and fried onion strings. Absolutely delicious, a little drippy and completely satisfying. Even though we were both full, dessert still happened. A slice of chocolate cake, boxed to go, packed neatly in a container that fit perfectly with the chocolate and raspberry sauces in small pots. A thoughtful finish. Cindy took wonderful care of us throughout the evening, and the whole experience made for a terrific date night. Burtons is definitely joining our regular rotation. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu regardless of which staff you ask. Our appetizer was the general tso cauliflower and Philly cheesesteak spring rolls. On our 2nd day in Charlotte, I found this place with tons of gluten-free options. There was so much to choose from the gluten-free menu, but we were so amazed by their selection. We just came from a Father's Day meal and had one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I wish I could remember our server's name because he was great-very attentive, friendly, and asked about allergies (my Dad has severe shellfish allergy). We started with the Calamari that came with peppers, fried perfectly, and was very light. They have a lot of really good vegetarian options and my Mom had the roasted vegetable bowl. It was a nice size portion and looked and smelled delicious. My Dad had the chicken Milanese Alfredo and loved it. I opted for the steak frites with chimmichurri and it may be one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked medium rare, which some restaurants struggle with but Burton's got it right. It came with a side of parmesan truffle fries, and the chimmichurri was full of garlic and herbs. I enjoyed the Broccoli too...very fresh, though it was quite basic. My husband seemed to like the foods as well. In fact, we both thought that the foods here were better than what we had at Firebirds or 131 Main, the two restaurants that we always felt were similar to Burton's (American food). However, this place has the most detailed waitstaff I've come across, bringing the rating up to where it is. I only ordered the general tso bowl so my review is based off one item, but it was SO good!! It was spicy, but delicious! My friend ordered the sauces on the side as she has had it before and wanted to control how much she put on due to the spice level, but it wasn't too much for me. Super flavorful. Brought my family here to celebrate my adult son's birthday. We were a party of four. Everyone had something different. I ordered the Ahi tuna salad. My wife had calamari and a Caesar salad. I told the waitress that it was my son's birthday. Honestly, the prices seemed high for what you get. When my Ahi tuna salad showed up, I was kind of surprised that it just had four tiny pieces of Ahi Tuna that looked like they were squashed and run over by a truck. I couldn't tell if the tuna was cooked or not because it was lukewarm and I tried to figure out if it was supposed to be hot or cold? It was just meh. My wife's Caesar salad was drenched in dressing. As a result, she didn't eat it all. They didn't bring a little dessert or anything for my son, and didn't even acknowledge that it was his birthday, despite the fact that we had told them. I didn't expect anything, but this was on the very low end of what a restaurant like this would generally do, and seemed pretty greedy. The price tag with tip came to about $177, not cheap, and pretty expensive for what we got that evening. At the end of the night when it was time to pay, the waitress handed me one of those heavy, clunky POS systems that has been handled by thousands of other people since it was cleaned. She then had to hover over me while I chose a tip level for her. Of course the system had all of the tips calculated on the post tax number. Obviously, it makes no sense to pay tips on tax. So I had to awkwardly ask her to see the bill once again, so I could calculate her tip. The whole experience was pretty mediocre for the cost. There are far better options in Charlotte to celebrate a valued family member's birthday than this one. read more

The first time I dined here, it was decent. The second time, it was just okay. I love the decor and atmosphere. I also like that you don't need a reservation to dine, and it's not overly crowded. From my initial visit, the margarita was pretty good. The short rib grilled cheese on ciabatta was okay. It had a hint of flavor, but that is something that has to be served hot so the cheese doesn't dry up. The firecracker shrimp were good.  From my most recent visit, the latte was what I enjoyed the most. The buffalo chicken dip was pretty tasty and had a hot sauce kick. I ordered the chicken and waffles. It was not good. The chicken was extremely bland, the waffle was cold and had a chalky taste, and I have had better sausage gravy in the school system.
