Chicken piccata

Firstly, I loved how allergen friendly they are. They immediately ask you if there's any allergies to be aware of and are helpful when ordering. My husband has a serious dairy allergy, so considerations like these are crucial for a stress-free dining experience. Food was pretty good, too! My only criticism is that flavor felt lacking to an extent. For example, the chicken piccatta was great! But... I had to ask for a lemon to squeeze over it because I couldn't taste any lemon. However beyond that, it was a good experience. Nice and elegant atmosphere, great service, and good food!

I called 3 days in advance to book a reservation for a party of 7. I was told they could only accommodate a group of 6, I booked it anyways. As a turn of event , one of my friends cancelled. When we got to our table, it had 7 chairs! Not sure why I was lied to. Menu was decent. Paying for table bread is crazy though. I was also disappointed they didn't offer oysters nor mussels. Ordered: she-crab soup, crab crusted haddock with jasmine rice and broccoli. The service was slow. But the restaurant wasn't packed. There were quite a few empty tables. It Took over 40 minutes for everyone to get their appetizers and entrees weren't service until an hour into the service. Despite the service, the food was pretty good. She-crab soup was nice and HOT! I hate luke warm soup so I was happy it was hot. The serving size of the haddock was huge. The fish was crispy and well seasoned but the rice was bland and broccoli was too soft/mushy. I also tried some of my friend's spinach artichoke dip; it was good except it was too salty.

Went on Valentines Night - Thankfully they had some extra space for a small party of 5. Our waitress was attentive, she gave us pretty good recommendations, and made sure we had what we needed. I got the Cabernet Braised Short Ribs w/ Mashed Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts and I definitely could taste to Cabernet. I wasn't expecting them to have a strong cab taste, but they were fine. The potatoes tasted a bit earthy considering there wasn't any peeling in them. The brussels sprouts was good. We also go the Filet Mignon, and it was under cooked, we asked for medium well and it was cooked medium rare. Then we get to the NY Strip, the strip was probably the best tasting out of the 3 in my opinion. The menu wasn't huge but still had some diverse options depending on what you're looking for. Overall, still a good place for an intimate night out considering their large cocktail/drink options. I'd go back but I'd definitely order a few different things next time.

Crabcake sandwich at Burtons Grill & Bar, Charlotte

I've been meaning to get back to Burtons since the Yelp event, and the chance for a proper date night finally appeared. We arrived to a very busy dining room, just ahead of the Friday evening rush. After a short wait while the host checked on tables, we were shown to a comfortable booth. Our waitress was lovely and took excellent care of us, including a clear explanation of their allergy procedures. We're not gluten free, but it was reassuring to see that level of attention. We started with the bread service, which was a great choice. A warm pull‑apart roll with olive oil, butter and tapenade made for a simple, satisfying appetizer before the main courses arrived. Mrs. K chose the crabcake sandwich, a generous crabcake on a brioche bun with truffle fries. I'm not convinced the truffle fries were worth the upgrade since most of the topping had fallen off, and my regular fries were excellent. Your mileage may vary. I went with the Maxx Burger, cooked exactly medium rare as requested. A tall, indulgent stack with a big patty, all the trimmings and fried onion strings. Absolutely delicious, a little drippy and completely satisfying. Even though we were both full, dessert still happened. A slice of chocolate cake, boxed to go, packed neatly in a container that fit perfectly with the chocolate and raspberry sauces in small pots. A thoughtful finish. Cindy took wonderful care of us throughout the evening, and the whole experience made for a terrific date night. Burtons is definitely joining our regular rotation. This was a first time visit! Our food was amazing and our waitress was phenomenal! She was extremely attentive, charismatic, and funny! She was the perfect pair for a girls brunch. Her menu recommendations were spot on. At must place to revisit!

It was my birthday on Wednesday and got this recommendation from TikTok. The music was soo good. Not too loud and not too low. Multiple martini options with delicious flavors. General Tso cauliflower appetizer was one of the best vegetarian menu items offered. Short ribbed grilled cheese was delicious. It was like the adult version of what is considered a kids meal. Veggie burger was good. Kids menu offered a decent amount of options. Chicken and mushroom ravioli was good. Bread service. Yum. Yum. Yum. Calamari was well seasoned. Slightly spicy. Shaleen was a good waitress. Patient and attentive.

We come here all the time. The food is always good. I will say the salmon is my favorite, so I got the salmon Caesar and my husband got the ahi poke bowl. The poke bowl was just okay. Also, the pomegranate martini is my favorite.

This was my second time dining here, my first was for brunch. From start to finish, the service both times was amazing. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu regardless of which staff you ask. Our appetizer was the general tso cauliflower and Philly cheesesteak spring rolls. The cauliflower is amazing! The spring rolls were ok but I'm not sure I'd order again. I had the crab crusted haddock as my entree and opted for the sautéed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes as my sides. Both were amazing. As for the atmosphere it's very well decorated, warm lighting and they have indoor and outdoor seating. Reservations highly recommended.

On our 2nd day in Charlotte, I found this place with tons of gluten-free options. There was so much to choose from the gluten-free menu, but we were so amazed by their selection. Here are a few things we got: *Bread Service - shareable gf focaccia served with pesto, herb & garlic butter, olive tapenade. Their sauces were good, but the bread was a bit hard and cold. If it was warm up, it would be easier to spread. Ribeye - 14oz. 28-day aged ribeye, bone marrow butter, seasonal vegetable, garlic mashed potatoes. Delicious cut with their bone marrow butter. *Mediterranean Chicken Risotto -- artichoke hearts, grape tomatoes, spinach, feta, lemon butter sauce, pesto. * Seven-layer chocolate cake -- chocolate frosting, hot fudge, Maldon sea salt, raspberry coulis. Freaking ass delicious and it's gluten-free. Restaurant location: Burton's Grill & Bar 1601 E Woodlawn Rd, Charlotte, NC 28209 Must-try menu items: Gluten free 7 layer chocolate cake Portion sizes: Decent size Menu highlights: So Much Gluten free options for dinner and brunch

Crab crusted haddock
Dale F.

This is a nice restaurant in Charlotte with good food and cozy ambiance. Have a nice variety of steak ,seafood ,salads a little bit of everything and if you just want a few drinks, they have a nice bar area. My crab crusted haddock was delicious.I had Brussels sprouts and rice with it. They make their sangria there, which is really good. It had a mix of Merlot, Cabernet and some rum in it .

5 stars well deserved... they were busy and fully booked and made the effort to attempt to find us a table on walk in. The ribeye steak is worth highlighting and cooked as we wished medium rare. Staff was kind and checked on our allergies as it is a custom here per the waiter. Very elegant and clean inside, with warm lighting combining lots of black and white paintings/photos with industrial geometric shapes in decor.

Steak frites.

We just came from a Father's Day meal and had one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I wish I could remember our server's name because he was great-very attentive, friendly, and asked about allergies (my Dad has severe shellfish allergy). We started with the Calamari that came with peppers, fried perfectly, and was very light. They have a lot of really good vegetarian options and my Mom had the roasted vegetable bowl. It was a nice size portion and looked and smelled delicious. My Dad had the chicken Milanese Alfredo and loved it. I opted for the steak frites with chimmichurri and it may be one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked medium rare, which some restaurants struggle with but Burton's got it right. It came with a side of parmesan truffle fries, and the chimmichurri was full of garlic and herbs. We didn't have room for dessert but will come back for the recommended key lime pie. 5 stars all the way around!

I remember having some mixed feelings on our very first visit here years ago... Anyway, we finally decided to return again...and this time, thanks to our Open Table reservation, we got seated right away...and indoors, in a choice area. Just like the first time here, I felt that the ambiance here was a bit drab...but I liked the menu much more. Seemed they added more items since I first visited. We were very happy to see that they had Fried Calamari...so started with that. For our entree, my husband ordered the Wild Mushroom Ravioli, and I ordered the Chicken Milanese Alfredo. We also got a side of Broccoli. Well, all I can say is that I'm now a fan. I really liked their Crispy Calamari. Bit smaller in cut than most, but I liked the batter and the mix of veggies. I was also impressed with my entree, Chicken Milanese Alfredo. It was such a generous portion, I couldn't eat all...but thoroughly enjoyed it. It was also nicely presented. I enjoyed the Broccoli too...very fresh, though it was quite basic. My husband seemed to like the foods as well. In fact, we both thought that the foods here were better than what we had at Firebirds or 131 Main, the two restaurants that we always felt were similar to Burton's (American food). I could be wrong, but I felt that Burton's was a tad more sophisticated, with a more fusion mix. Also, I thought the foods are presented much better here...always a bonus! For drinks, my husband got some beer (??), and I went with this Desert Flower cocktail...and it was so tasty and strong! In any case, so glad we returned...though much later than sooner.

For my entrée, I ordered the blackened catfish with mashed potatoes and andouille sausage. The fish was pretty bland--I could taste the Cajun spice, but there wasn't much depth of flavor beyond that. For an appetizer, we got the Cajun popcorn (crawfish), and that was actually really good--well-seasoned and something we definitely enjoyed. I also had the New Orleans Iced Tea, but it had too much ice and ended up tasting watered down. My date didn't care much for their meal either and the lack of seasoning was bland too (even though I forgot exactly what they ordered), which says a lot about the overall experience. One thing to note: parking is rough, but they do offer valet. The valet attendant working Saturday night was very kind and did a great job handling everything on his own. There are definitely better seafood spots out there. This one just didn't hit the mark for us.

We came in on a weeknight at dinner time with no reservation, so we had to sit at the bar (which was just fine). The space is very upscale but comfortable. Service was impeccable. The bartender (Kevin?) was engaging and attentive, as were others working behind the bar. They make you kind of feel like regulars, and that vibe led to good conversations with other patrons. The drink menu is impressive, with the usual classics but also many variants on them; all of which sounded really good. My business partner had the Ube Sour. The flavors, including Sweet Potato powder, where unique and really good. I had a Vesper that was prepared perfectly. Pricing on the wines by the glass were very good and the selection was excellent. My business partner had the Seafood Pasta with squid ink spaghetti. He loved it and the spicy tomato sauce. There was plenty of perfectly cooked seafood. I had the roasted Sea Bass with Broccolini. So good! But what really got me was an add-on side of Seafood Mashed Potatoes. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was wonderful enough to be an entree by itself. Shrimp and Langostinos in an incredible cream sauce over buttery mashed potatoes (see pic). Desserts were also excellent. My business partner had what I think was a coconut crema, which he loved. I had two scoops of house made ice cream (vanilla and pistachio) with berries; also very, very good. I mentioned attention to details at the start. An example of this watching staff behind the bar polishing glasses. Polishing, not just washing. It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

I've heard rave reviews about this place so Michelle & I went for Sunday Brunch…read more They recommended a reservation so we had one @ 12n. It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.
