The beginning didn't start out great, we had a reservation and showed up about 10 mins before it, but we weren't sat until about 20 minutes after our scheduled time. Went around 6:00 on a Friday night and it was booming! Thank goodness for a reservation. Very nice inside with lots of lighting. Our server was super attentive and friendly. She even suggested her favorite menu items to us! Now the food... was... DELISH!!! I didn't take pictures of the appetizers but they served bread with olive oil and we ordered the smoked chicken wings for the table. The wings were amazing, as well as the ranch I was a little hesitant to order the pork loin with this peach and arugula salad thing on top but I went for it and MAN was it excellent! I didn't take pictures of the sides but we also ordered the Mac & cheese and Yukon gold purée and they were some of the best side dishes I've ever had. I went before going to a show at Belk theater. It's very convenient to the theater and they do validate parking in the Bank of America parking deck. I was seated immediately and staff was very friendly. I got the chicken pizza and it was tasty. Reason I knocked off two stars is because I didn't notice the grade until I was already halfway thru my meal. Normally I don't like to eat at places below a 95, and I'm usually great abt checking scores on here or least when I get to the spot, but guess I was off my game this day. Let me start by saying this is a hidden gem! I almost passed it trying to find it. That said, I'm so glad I decided to stop here on my trip. I had just landed and wanted comfort and calm! I got both here. It appears smaller but there is an upper area that I hadn't originally noticed. I got there after the lunch rush. The atmosphere was casual and chill with lots of people conversing and the staff talking to the guests. I didn't wait long to be acknowledged or have my order taken and the food was out in almost no time. It was honestly one of the better experiences I've had trying to get something to eat fast. The sandwich was perfection (I likely would have added more mayo but didn't). It was flavorful and the fries were the perfect amount of soft and crisp. I ate here twice and they did not disappoint. Both times were surrounding an event and I appreciate the ambiance which is a western theme with southern charm. The service was great! Darren was fabulous and he was supported by a team but a young man name Jay went above and beyond. My friends raved about the salmon and I am delighted by their trout. In my family I'm responsible for collard greens so I'm very picky. It's very different from mine but incredibly tasty. I couldn't stop dipping into the potato au gratin as well as the mac and cheese. Sides are served piping hot in a cast iron pan. Very few photos today, but I'll be back. Pro-Tip: Book reservations in advance and bring your parking ticket so it can be validated. Delicious flavors! We visited while here for work trip. The menu was on point for fall and all farm to fork with locally sourced farmers. Highly recommend the mushroom pizza, beet salad - fresh! -Margeaux's Succotash. Ended the meal with the deconstructed burnt orange cheesecake - topped with honeycomb pieces and an orange marmalade caramel (a little sweet) but balanced out with the tartness of the cheesecake. So many wood fired options to choose from! We started with two shareable sides: wood fired gourmet mushrooms with hazelnut romesco and the wood fired baby butternut squash with herb crème fraiche, pickled cranberries and sage gremolata. Scallops: 4 stars. Well prepared. I enjoy the slight char to the surface but moist texture when biting into it. Accompanying sauce was ok. Finally they were able to move us to the patio area per our reservation. Our sever was attentive and friendly. The food were awesome per usual. We visited rooster's uptown on a Thursday night for a big group dinner. There were 20 of us, and we had a few reservations to make it happen. They seated us all immediately when we arrived. This place has a really interesting menu in that we couldn't really figure out what was appetizer potion and what was entree portion, but I think we made out just fine. We started with a few orders of the burratta. I really liked it for the most part, it had roasted golden beets which I love, but it was topped with "crispy bits" which . . . Basically crumbled nuts, but why not just say that? They really didn't add anything to the dish. I got an order of the ricotta gnocchi with a side of the corn and we all split an order of Brussels sprouts. The gnocchi was perfect, I literally would not change a thing about this dish. The corn was incredibly boring, there was no seasoning on it or anything to make it special. The Brussels sprouts were actually incredible, probably the best thing we had on the table. My colleagues were all super happy with their dishes, except one of them got the pork loin which was overdone. I would definitely recommend this place for a dinner. Their food is so good, and let me tell you our server was so knowledgeable about the menu. Whenever we asked him a question, he had an enthusiastic and detailed answer. People have been telling me to go to roosters for years and I finally went to the uptown location - it was worth the hype! Immediately upon entering, the host/staff are on top of things. My date and I were guided upstairs and I noticed that the whole place was pretty much packed. I have to give credit to our waitress - I wish I remembered her name but she was English - her accent probably sold us even more lol. We got the impression that the servers really knew the menu and their opinions were worth trusting. We ended up asking for her recommendation on a bottle of wine. She also recommended the tomato soup - I ended up ordering it for pickup several times the week after because it was THAT good. Just checked into the nearby AC Hotel and went looking for dinner, Rooster's caught my eye, and I'm glad it did. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the bar had a solid red wine selection to kick things off. For dinner, I went with the wood-fired dark meat chicken, and it absolutely lived up to the name. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and paired with a southern vinegar-based BBQ sauce that was so good I nearly licked the bowl clean. On the side, I ordered the shishito peppers, a personal favorite. First time in Charlotte and we were on the hunt for some great chicken. This place did not disappoint! Our server recommended the wood-fire circle chicken and it was absolutely fire, so flavorful and juicy. We also tried the smoked wings with barbecue spice, and I might have liked these even more. The seasoning was spot on: flavorful without being overpowering. The calamari was a nice surprise. The sauce it comes with is honestly the star of the show. As a side, we went with the mac and cheese, which unfortunately fell flat. It lacked flavor, and the cheese had a bland taste that didn't really work. I also ordered the Heat of the Moment cocktail, 10/10 recommend! It's not spicy, despite the name, but it's super refreshing and packed with flavor. A bunch of us came to dinner here last night. It was a place a couple of us have been to before, but the majority have not. Roosters seating is pretty wide open. They offer both inside and outside seating. We sat inside. They've got a real good staff there from hostess to server. Everyone seem to have a pitch in attitude. That's nice. For the most part, we all ordered something differently, but shared a bunch of vegetables. Their menu is à la carte. One of the recommendations was trout. Since I'm a fan of seafood, I thought trout was something interesting and I've never had it before. Others ordered shrimp, steak, even a pizza. The size of the trout was good. The price was fair, which is something you look for. The trout was served blackened. As much as I like blackened seasoning, this was really quite salty. I love me some salt, but not to the point where it overwhelms the meal and all you taste is salt. The trout was cooked on the dryer, more well done side. That was disappointing. Of all the sides we ordered the favorites included corn, spinach, beets, and their potatoes. The cauliflower was highly recommended, but it was OK. Whatever flavor they were going for it didn't quite seem to hit it. read more

I went with seven other people as part of a restaurant group. The first thing I noticed is that they don't separate out appetizers from entrees but bizarrely group things together by food type. Regardless, as is common today, there really isn't much of a price difference anyway between these categories as there once was but it is irritating to have to ask the server if an item is an appetizer or a main course. It is very, very pricey. Quite overpriced, in fact. Cocktails are $18, most items are in the $30 range and a number are in the mid $40s. Not at all worth it. I ordered a pizza and it was a complete disgrace. Basically, a bit of partially toasted bread. You needed a microscope to see the toppings and the tomato sauce was virtually non-existent. They should be ashamed and embarrassed to serve this. If I was not with this group, I would have sent it back. As for the other meals, they looked okay but not spectacular for what Rooster's is charging. We fortunately ate in an outdoor section as inside would be incredibly noisy. They can validate parking which is nice but not mentioned in any signage. Our server, Ray, was nice but like all servers today, repeatedly suggesting appetizers for the table and he must have asked me five times if I wanted a drink. I hate the salesmanship and upselling, find it offensive, rude and obnoxious. I'm an adult and can determine how much I want to spend. However, I also know it increases his wages and probably keeps his job. Would I return? Absolutely not. Would I recommend it? No, I would not. My meal was over $40 with the included 20% tip which nevertheless, there is still a line for an ADDITIONAL tip! I expect most people's bill would have been closer to $75 on average. Restaurants are gouging themselves right out of business. Rooster's is a great example of that. read more

1st time in Charlotte and this restaurant popped up for some southern food. Apps we got Calamari and Burrata w/ Focaccia. Both were tasty - calamari had a creamy dip to go with and burrata topped with balsamic glaze and pesto paired perfect with the fresh focaccia. I got the Short Ribs that were very tender although you need sides to cut through the flavor as it feels very heavy. The buttered corn was my favorite, brussel sprouts had some creamy sauce that over did it, wasn't a fan of the collard greens or grits. Had to end the meal with a sweet treat - Raspberry Rhubarb.
