I'm not surprised Albertine is this good. The Kindreds have built one of the best restaurant groups in the Charlotte area, and this is another home run. We hosted a business dinner here, and it was the perfect setting. The atmosphere is elegant without feeling stuffy, making it ideal for entertaining clients or celebrating a special occasion. The service was exceptional--professional, attentive, knowledgeable, and paced perfectly throughout the evening. We started with the seafood tower, shared several sides, and had a variety of entrées, including the trout. I ordered the 15-ounce Wagyu steak, and it was phenomenal--cooked perfectly with outstanding flavor. Every dish that hit the table was excellent. Joe and Katy Kindred have earned a reputation for creating memorable dining experiences, and Albertine absolutely lives up to that standard. Albertine was a really solid dinner spot in Uptown Charlotte. The vibe was definitely a little more upscale/bougie than I expected, but in a good way. Service was great across the board -- everyone was super friendly and helpful -- although they were maybe a little too quick to clear plates and tidy the table while we were still settling in. The menu had a good amount of variety without being overwhelming. The meze platter was excellent and came with really good pita. We got the shugs, feta, nduja, eggplant spread, and hummus. I also got the hanger steak frites and it was honestly delicious. Our server highly recommended the potatoes, but 4 out of the 6 people at our table thought they were a bit overdone and close to burnt. It's definitely on the pricier side, but overall we thought it was worth it. Nice bonus that they validate parking in the garage next door too. I'd go back. read more

While the dates could have been prepared more juicy and softer, the peanut muhammara was pure genius and a delightful enhancement. The cordero would be even more perfect if paired with a side of bread or pita to soak up the savory jus. The cheesecake proved a scrumptious finale--definitely enjoy it with a latte or cappuccino. Ugh! I so wanted to love this place. We were so disappointed. The good stuff: it's an attractive, nicely appointed restaurant with great service and good drinks. The carrots with hot honey and nepitella accompaniment as well as the smashed potatoes were great. However, the main dishes were underwhelming. The rock crab mafaldine that most of us ordered had little to no flavor. No amount of S+P and red pepper flake that we added helped. You MUST salt your pasta water when cooking it. Hard to add enough afterward. Cooking 101. A few aromatics in the dish likely would've helped also I think. The sauce was thin and runny. Didn't coat the pasta. The amount of crab was paltry. Hard pass. The manager was kind enough to ask if we wanted to exchange our dishes. I opted for the labneh-marinated chicken thigh. Better choice but wouldn't order it again. My friend's lamb chops were far overcooked. They looked well done instead of medium rare. They did offer to cook another batch but still missed the mark. Maybe it was an off night. My girlfriend and I had a great experience at Albertine. From beginning to end, everything felt very luxurious. Everyone from the hostesses to our waiter, to the people who delivered our food, took special care to ensure we had everything we needed and knew exactly what we were receiving. We ordered the Venetian Asparagus, Oysters, one of their pasta dishes, followed by their cheesecake. The dishes seem to range from Italian to coastal to middle eastern-and at one point I even heard Portuguese music in the bathroom. All in all, it's clear they take their inspiration from multiple places, which I liked. Almost forgot to mention that the bathrooms are so nice! There were mints and emergency feminine products available to grab if needed. The only things that were so-so for me were: that the dishes we ordered seemed to be a bit under seasoned and the cheesecake was not fully set. Also, our server never told us his name. Luckily, there were plenty of other people that checked on us through out the experience so we were never lacking anything. Still, it would've been nice to know the name of the person taking the lead on our experience. However, with the service overall and ambience (I loved all the candles!) being as fantastic as it was, I still had a great experience and would recommend it for anyone looking for 5 star service in the heart of Charlotte. read more

Upscale Mediterranean in uptown Charlotte brings a very classy feel to this area. We were late making reservations so we're only able to get lobby seating. I would recommend inside the restaurant seating as the lobby for the most part is near the door unless your round the corner from the bar. I actually liked the one table where we were seated which was tucked in a corner away from the door. Big, airy, cool feel to the place. Excellent service from start til we left. Mason the manager and Tammy were very approachable and friendly, As was our server. The bar is not your typical bar, not by look anyway but they do serve great drinks! I loved the unique cocktails on the menu and we loved all the ones we ordered. I chose idle hands which was a mezcal based drink, perfect balance of all the flavors and served in a cool glass! My family had the mezcal Negroni and Hoskins a gin based drink. All were spirit forward and right on. the money. The menu has mezze, small plates, larger plates, chilled seafood, apps and desserts. We ordered everything at one time and it all came out in order apps to mains. We tried the green schug which comes with their amazing pita like bread. Delicious dip which is spicy and tangy and amazing with the bread. Then we had the lamb kefta, now I'm not a lamb eater but if made like this I could be converted! Not gamey tasting at all. Coriander seeds for a crunch in top with an amazing sauce underneath this is a must eat dish here. Perfectly cooked. The tuna crudo was also perfect, fresh tuna and a nice crunch with the puffed grains and a delicious sauce. The labneh marinated chicken thigh was another winnner . Perfectly cooked where the skin literally fall off but not greasy tasting at all. I loved the cucumber salad accompaniment with it too. Delicious again !! Perfect all around on the food and drinks and service. They take pride in this place and it was a labor of love after their first restaurant in Davidson, Kindred. Beautiful restaurant with a modern yet cozy and intimate feel. When making my reservation I appreciated the option to book a table in the lounge and/or dining room. The app even made sure my selection was what I wanted before committing (it's the little things for us software folks). Service is top notch. Our waiter was informed and made excellent recommendations. Our party of 5 opted for the Meze to start (our waiters recco) which allowed us to select 6 shareable tapas like plates. We enjoyed the whipped feta (and I'm not a feta fan), the black eyed pea humus, the tuna salad, okra, warm olives, dates, and warm bread. Everything was delicious and plenty for all. The cocktails were cute and yummy but can we take a moment and recognize the glassware. Heavy, detailed, short stemmed cocktail glasses that reminded me of the great Gatsby or a fancy NY bar on the upper east side. I ordered a lovely bourbon drink mixed with honey and lemon that taste liked a cold hot toddy, yum! The entrees were big portions of well cared for ingredients. Myself and one other in the group had the Wahoo, 2 others opted for the hanger steak and our 5th chose the rock crab pasta dish. Everything was delicious but I think the hanger steak won best at the table. The Wahoo was good however I could have used some acid and salt. Checked this place out for the first time as a date night it definitely had some good vibes. I was a little bit confused when trying to make the reservation in terms of the difference between the lounge and the dining room. I couldn't find photos to distinguish them, it wasn't super clear. The lounge is the area when you first walk in and is a little bit more open. There are real tables and proper seating, so I definitely didn't have complaints about this area. We didn't really see the dining room but it seemed a little bit more like traditional tables all in one place throughout. The servers were very attentive and professional, very clearly understanding the details of the menu because we weren't super familiar with the Mediterranean ingredients and names of the dishes. But after getting the explanations, we felt good about making our choices! I would definitely recommend the hot honey fried quail as an appetizer! We both got variations of steak dishes, although I don't remember exactly. I believe one of us got a short rib dish. No complaints at all about the food, they were delicious! Drinks were also great with a variety of different ones on the menu. The atmosphere was modern, elegant, and moody, and our service was good! Would definitely recommend and return. read more

The meze platter was exceptional, truly a must order if you come with any size of a group. We shared six plates among three of us. Each alone was very good but the combination of flavors and textures among them made this a very enjoyable sharing experience. We each had our favorites, mine were the red schug (a somewhat spicy pepper dip, goes by many names across the Middle East, I remember it as mabooj). and the 'nduju (my wife says we've had this spreadable sausage before but I don't recall. So unusual and so tasty). The platter is served with man'oushe which is a traditional Yemeni flatbread. Some reviewers found this bread overly seasoned but our table was in agreement that it was delicious and worked very well with the meze. I ordered an Old Fashioned and asked if it could be made with a rye. Our server immediately came forward with a separate whiskey menu. Then the bartender came by and asked if I needed any suggestions. As I said earlier, great service. What a beautiful restaurant! Even the restrooms are posh. Seriously, give me a cushioned chair and I might be willing to become a tenant in that men's room. The Khafeh cheesecake is incredible! Negatives? For me, a couple nits. The dining area becomes darkly lit. Romantic, absolutely. But, oh my, these old eyes just couldn't read the menu. Table candles - no help. I turned my phone light on but that upset my table guests. So I thought, no problem, I already know from the online menu what to order. Except - the menu was recently changed (farewell, gamebird cappelletti). So, yeah, I was sight impaired for much of the meal. Also, as the evening progressed the noise level in the dining area grew to where the three of us had to raise our voices to be heard. This is one of my much too common restaurant nags. With so much attention being paid to fine dining aesthetics can't someone find a way to reduce the ambient volume in these rooms? Arrived for my reservation at 10pm two nights ago after being greeted by a text saying there would be an extra 15 minute grace period due to the Charlotte FC game letting out at the same time. Paid $20 to park in a different garage because the recommended garage was full. Arrived at the restaurant to be greeted by the manager locking the door as we walked up. We stood for a minute staring and then informed us that the restaurant was closed and the doors are locked are 10:15 . He even said he saw us there on time walking up. I am a huge fan of Kindred, Milkbread and Hello Sailor and was very excited for this experience and it was absolutely the worst hospitality I've ever received. The manager was very unapologetic and basically told us because we were there while watching him lock the door in our face there's nothing he could do. I am a huge fan of Joe Kindreds restaurant and going since Kindred opened in 2015 but unfortunately this entire interaction was a disappointment. Unfortunately can't recommend. read more

I've been trying to get a reservation here for so long and our group finally snagged a time on a Wednesday. The decor is stunning. So elegant and beautiful, and the space is much larger than it appears. They have a huge bar and plenty of seating for groups. Our server was nice and helpful also. Based on his suggestion we ordered the meze: whipped feta, cucumber salad, zaalouk, SC black-eyed pea hummus, stuffed dates and deviled taramasalata. Everything was tasty! I didn't love that the feta was runny, but I couldn't deny how flavorful everything was. The eggplant was my favorite. I ordered the champs elysses with a touch of simple syrup and loved it so much I got two. Another factor in my ordering a second was because the jungle bird was pretty bad. It was very bitter and all I could taste was Campari in each sip. It wasn't the tropical taste you usually find in this popular drink. I sent it back and my friend sent hers back also. For my entree I went with the rock crab malfaldine, which has the potential to be amazing but was sadly underwhelming. First, it was like a soup. The cream or cheese was broken as you needed a spoon to enjoy it and bread to soak it up. Although there was crab throughout, it was shredded way too small to appreciate. Lastly, it seemed the chef forgot to season the dish while cooking. Although we expressed these concerns to the server, no one came over to speak to us. This was the most disappointing dish because all but one in our party ordered it as a main and everyone had the same reaction. Hopefully it was just an off day. The lamb kofta was good but I'm not sure I would order again as I found it to be tough. Since the restaurant is still new, I will return and hope for different results. read more

Made it hard to eat and just took away from the dish - the shrimp had good flavor but were slightly overcooked - the mezze platter was excellent - the little gem had great flavor but the sauce should be drizzled on top instead of on the bottom so the lettuce is nicely coated - I wasn't a fan of the lamb chops but the Denver style steak was delicious - the malawach was a little salty but the bread was perfectly flaky - the cheesecake was light and delicious. The pistachio gelato had an artificial taste but I liked the addition of the olive oil. The sorbetto was too sweet and I wish it was more citrus/tart. The babka was tasty. From Instagram to what I was serves basically sits on the far side on false advertising. It was so salty, covered in an under reduced reduction and the slimmest cut of ribeye ever. No sear and chewy like big league gum. Server was nice and available. No issue there. But food was horrific. Ambiance is nice. Well decorated venue. Hostess was amazing and very kind/helpful. What an incredible experience! We came to Albertine on a Wednesday evening to celebrate my birthday and were seated at a lovely table with scalloped edges and plush seating in the dining room. I was wished happy birthday multiple times by staff, including the hostess and our server. When we got dessert, it came with a candle. I was also given a hand-written birthday card, and the staff kindly offered to take photos of my husband and I. Everyone was truly so friendly and genuinely wanted us to celebrate and enjoy the night. You don't find this level of service and care most places nowadays, and it was SO appreciated! The inside of the restaurant is lovely with high-end fixtures, art on the walls, and a marble-backed bar that is truly a sight to behold. The vibe is loungey and classy, without being stuffy. The menu is described as Mediterranean-with-Southern-flair, and everything from the mezze to the appetizers, mains and desserts, sounded heavenly. Our server was great at offering recommendations, and I was pleased to see that portions were on the bigger side (which is often not the case at these types of restaurants). Splitting the smoked game bird cappelletti, lamb kefta, and rainbow carrots was the perfect amount of food for the 2 of us. The cappelletti especially blew us aware with the rich sauce, flavorful meat in the pasta, and crunchy fried skin adding a wonderful texture on top. We washed this all down with expertly-prepared drinks; I really enjoyed my citrusy Fleur Monsieur mocktail. For dessert, we ordered the wood-fired babka, and WOW did this blow us away! It comes warm, topped with date caramel and a large scoop of labneh ice cream. The ice cream is slightly tangy and added complexity to the chocolately, indulgent babka. You must get this! Albertine was apparently the name of Queen Charlotte's mother, and this restaurant is such a welcome addition to our local food scene. The location was lovely and the staff were on point. We weren't in love with the menu, and ended up quite reticent to lean in further after our first round of appetizers. The style of fusion isn't what we were expecting and the staff, sensing something was off for us, sent over the manager who was very understanding. They took good care of us, and offered some lovely-sounding desserts and a nightcap, which wasn't in the books for us. Not sure we'll be back as we lean towards the more vibrant and fresh elements of Mediterranean, but we can see what they're going for. We eat with our eyes first and Albertine's decor did not disappoint. Greeted promptly upon entry by well clad servers was quite the surprise. I quickly felt underdressed but that was put at ease by the front staff and an Old Fashion from the bar. The food is described as Mediterranean meets Southern. A cool concept but I opted for menu items that were more authentic to the Mediterranean. The wood-grilled lamb kefta was cooked to perfection and had a great char to it. The staff are dressed in attire that adds to the restaurant's ambiance. The service is truly impressive. One detail that stood out was the waiter asking about food allergies before ordering. This level of attentiveness is rare. After I shared my shellfish and lobster allergies the waiter returned a marked up menu striking out every dish that could cause a food allergy. I ordered the Mahi Mahi which was tender, flavorful and perfectly prepared. For dessert, I ordered the Knafeh Cheesecake. Absolutely delicious. But service is truly a team effort. Parking validation is 3 hours making it very clear that you are there to enjoy your dinner and there is no rush. With the plush, cozy atmosphere, you'll want to sit back and take your time. The beautiful decor and lighting, it's a place to relax and indulge. We started with the Tuna Crudo which was fresh and bright. The tuna was perfection, and complimented by the crunch of puffed freekeh, and the tangy sweetness of orange. The chicken liver toast may not be everyone's love, but it's mine! Rich, earthy, salty, and on one of the best sourdough breads ever. My husband had the Cordero Asado and the lamb was succulent! I opted for the Mahi. The dish was light and unctuous with a subtle spiciness from the Urfa pepper. Sooo delicious! Certainly not least is the Raspberry sorbetto. From the moment we stepped inside the restaurant for my birthday dinner last night, we knew our dinner at the Kindred's new brainchild, Albertine, was going to be special - and we were not disappointed! The space is breathtakingly beautiful - dark, luxurious fabrics, shiny marble surfaces, cozy round booths and gorgeous color combinations combine for an upscale, yet cozy vibe. The staff are phenomenal. Our waitress, Abigail, couldn't have done a better job explaining the menu items, from cocktails and wines to appetizers and entrees. We were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation time, so that was my only qualm, but the hostesses were apologetic and kind about it. The menu had changed slightly from the one online (which I feel like is always a good sign for seasonal selections). We ordered two delicious cocktails and started off with the whipped feta - the soft, herb spiced pita it came with was a big winner. For our mains, we decided to split the hanger steak frites and the Venetian style asparagus. I don't remember a steak I've had that I've enjoyed quite as much as that one - it was melt-in-your-mouth tender (drenched in a bordelaise that we were told takes the kitchen five days to make) and was served with crispy smashed potatoes and an addictive toum aioli sauce... we were both legitimately sad when it was over. As for the asparagus, I've never had anything like it before (in the BEST way) - it was lightly fried and served with crispy curry leaves over a creamy labneh and topped with a sweet pomegranate glaze... it was so playful and innovative, as was the baklava dessert served with homemade ice cream over Nutella. It was very bitter and sweet at the same time. The food however was delicious. Our server was very nice patient and overall the sweetest I've had in a very long time. My main issue is the lady that came to the private room telling me and my family that we aren't allowed to take pictures with flash. AFTER all of us had already taken pictures. This was a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic. We had this tuna appetizer and also the lamb. It's beautiful inside and the service is impeccable. Following an evening at the ballet, my group of friends went to Albertine for some late night eats and drinks. We were incredibly impressed with the crab dishes and the variety of cocktails. The interior design and physical architecture are world class -- such a gem for Charlotte. The highlight of our dinner was undeniably our waiter, Trevor (and his pink bandanna). We celebrated our anniversary there last night and it was wonderful! First of all, they have a big staff and they all congratulated us on our anniversary. Very good service! The place is beautiful! I'd come back just for the bar! So pretty! The food was amazing! Drinks were delicious but in a small glass. Our server was very friendly and efficient. The ambience is beautiful but a bit loud. We ordered the mezze platter with 6 different small apps. My favorites were the dates and the whipped feta. My husband's favorite was the NC tuna. We also ordered the kibbeh which is lamb meat. Very unique but be aware it's a tartare. For dessert we shared a pistachio ice cream which was amazing with hints of sea salt. They took a Polaroid picture of us and gave us as a souvenir. So cute!
