At the time of our visit in early April 2026, Spaghett was only 9 months old and had not yet been included in the Michelin Guide during my visit to Charlotte. I can confidently vouch that it is definitely deserving of recognition, to say the least. Luckily, I found Spaghett as a suggested link off of Counter's page on Tock, and knew I needed to make a reservation upon learning that both restaurants were led by the brilliant Chef Sam from Counter-. Spaghett is a farm-to-table Italian restaurant offering thoughtful reinterpretations of classic Italian cuisine, with ingredients sourced from the Carolinas, Virginia, and Texas. Wrapped in muted olive green and layered with a playful mix of patterned wallpapers, the space radiates quirk, freshness, and creative energy. Spaghett is led by a team of passionate and enthusiastic members. I wanted to especially highlight executive chef Kendall Moore and our server Adrienne, who were exceptionally hospitable during our visit. When I asked Adrienne about a specific pasta dish, I was pleasantly surprised when Chef Kendall personally came out to discuss his creation with the same passion and knowledge that Chef Sam brought at Counter-. Their shared energy--expertise executed with genuine passion in their trade--permeates every aspect of the experience. Exquisite food executed by people who are passionate geniuses in what they do. My favorite dish of the meal was the mushroom-filled balanzoni -- a bonnet-pinched pasta enjoyed by the wealthier population in Italy's northern Piedmont region. I fell in love with the savory mushroom filling, the smooth pasta, and the brodo broth. Exquisite, delicate, comforting, aromatic, silky, al dente, and autumnal -- I absolutely loved everything my partner and I ordered from the prix-fixe menu. The cullurielli (savory crispy donut fritter) is better than any doughnut you can find at a commercial donut shop. As an appetizer, the cullurielli paired extremely well with its Texas redfish crudo counterpart. The VA Trout was perfectly seasoned and paired superbly with its onion-forward broth. The alliums used in two of the dishes ordered (balanzoni pasta and VA trout) were such a comforting and flavorful choices that set Spaghett apart from all other restaurants in Charlotte. I would return for every seasonal menu if I were local. Locals and visitors alike -- do yourselves a favor and grab a table with your friends and loved ones. Haven't been to the location since they were still Poplar House. The drink menu had a good amount of nonalcoholic options but we stuck with water tonight. The four course prix fixe meal was several small dishes but we left quite full. I sincerely wish there were more vegetables in all of the dishes. Not that there were more vegetarian options--there was at least one for every course--but that the dishes themselves had more vegetables to them. The pork with potatoes and leeks had literally two small bites of leek. The raviolo was stuffed with more cheese and onion than spinach. The gnocchi had no vegetable whatsoever. The trout dish also had a garnish of fennel, no actual vegetable. The house itself was uncomfortably hot. The water they served wasn't chilled and by the third course, we were actively sweating. The walls were sweltering and I couldn't help but wonder if of the back rooms were similarly warm or were overly icy with AC that simply couldn't penetrate the front half of the rooms. I don't recall the Poplar and tapas iterations being too loud or echoey, but by the end of our meal, we couldn't hold a conversation and the waitstaff was also struggling to communicate. So might be worth requesting a quiet seating area or trying to be outside if they're willing to open up the umbrellas on the patio. They're advertising for their outdoor seating but it didn't seem like the patio was open/available for service, so maybe just on perfect weather days? I'm not sure if we'd go again without being able to tell at all what might be on the menus that day. I just like having lots of vegetables and even the vegetarian options weren't very produce-forward. More starchy than vegetable-y. And it wasn't nice enough for a real date but not casual enough that I'd want to simply drop in or hang out at the 6-seater bar. So it's just not currently a good fit for me. read more

I'm honestly really disappointed by our experience. There were only two of us dining, yet our meals were completely switched. I ordered the beef and pork pasta but was served the clam pasta. My friend ordered the clam pasta but received my meat pasta instead. We trusted the waiter when the dishes were placed down, and she began eating. It wasn't until afterward that we realized the mistake which was especially upsetting because she has not eaten beef or pork in over 30 years. The waiter seemed very taken aback and said he felt horrible, but with only two people at the table, it's hard to understand how the orders were confused in the first place. What made the experience feel even more uncomfortable was the lack of acknowledgment from management. We were the only people of color in the restaurant, and the GM stopped at every other table multiple times throughout the evening passing by us at least a dozen times without ever greeting or checking on us. We dine out often and have experienced service at many restaurants, and this visit unfortunately missed the mark in several ways. Because of that, I'm honestly not sure if we would return. The restaurant is located in a beautiful historic house. I love how the preserved the beauty of the details in the house like the door and architecture. The way they renovated the interior to a restaurant is amazing. It was gorgeous. The staff was super friendly and helpful, especially when we were conflicted on what to order! We got cocktails which were fantastic and creative. We got many different meals to share amongst the table. I honestly can't remember what many of them were called but the star of the show was the meatloaf. 100% fantastic I had dreams of this meatloaf. I wish I could go back every week and order it. Finally hit up Spaghett tonight for dinner and it did not disappoint. Service is top notch. Everyone was friendly from the moment I opened the door. Starters: Heirloom tomato salad with this outstanding vinaigrette that made me want to lick the plate. Seriously, I would put that shit on everything! Homemade focaccia served warm on a plate of good olive oil will make you question all other breads. Homemade daily and staff takes home leftovers Cocktail: French 75 with the freshest notes of citrus Entrees: 1) Cacio e pepe so good that if I closed my eyes I was in Rome. Whoever made that pasta is an artist. 2) The trout with crispy skin served on a bed of rice with this perfectly cooked slice of butternut squash with the stickiest of caramelized crust that worked when all fixed on the fork for the perfect bite. This is a new restaurant in the Fourth Ward. We have been waiting for it to open for months, and it did not disappoint! The staff was so friendly and helpful. They are stressing reservations, but you should still come by even if you don't have one. I went on Friday night around 6 and got a table for 7. It started getting really busy around 8. They are "small" plates but that just means you could easily share. I think could have been fine to just have one. My date ordered a beef pasta dish, I had the Cacio de Pepe, and we shared the Bucatini. It was all good but the Bucatini was our favorite. There is a fun looking drink menu but I just had a glass of wine. We will definitely be back, and I look forward to visiting here more often! read more

Was so excited to try this place and was extremely disappointed. Service was great but food fell extremely short of the hype. No flavor to most of the dishes and hardly any sauce for any of the pasta. The meat was all overcooked....outside of the bread and the potato appetizer I can honestly say I didn't like anything. Hope they can get their act together because the restaurant has a great ambience. Also, there was mold in our drink and wasn't apologized to or get drinks comped. WOW! This has become one of my new favorite restaurants. Spaghett is located in the beautiful Fourth Ward of Uptown Charlotte in a gorgeous 19th century house. It's a quaint and intimate setting spread throughout the first floor of the house. When we walked in we were quickly welcomed and seated (we had reservations). It wasn't more than two minutes later that we were greeted by our server and offered drinks. Our order was an appetizer of the warm bread as well as the seasonal salad. The season salad was quit the presentation as there was a story behind the art of the salad. It was not a bowl of greens and radishes but rather an experience and evolution of vegetable life. Apres the appetizers we both ordered pasta for our mains. We were not hungry enough to order both pasta and an entre and we really wanted to try the pasta. We ordered the Gnocchi and the Reginette "Dela Cotta" and both were superb. The Gnocchi was smaller than traditional (American) style but was perfectly rolled to grab an enormous amount of the mouth watering sauce. And the Reginette...WOW what a great selection! This was a filling dish that left nothing to be desired. The slow cooked sauce was the perfect pairing with Reginette. After the appetizers and the pasta dishes we were glad we didn't order more...except dessert; we did order dessert (Chocolate pie that delivered the final punch for the win). Beet salad and crudo starters were stand out dishes; pasta courses were top notch, in particular the Ricotta Gnocchi. Mains and desserts were more forgettable, but for a prix fixe menu there were more hits than misses. We also did the wine pairings, which were well-selected but service needs to step up a bit and get the pairings out with or prior to the dish being served; not halfway thru. Finally open ! Waited a long time for this place, and it was such a great experience. Great service for a start and such a nice way to restore a house into restaurant, which I know was previously a restaurant but I know they changed things a bit. CJ our server was hands down amazing . So kind and sweet and easy to ask things from. We also met the manager Derek, also so nice. The mixologist Amanda who created some great drinks for us. The chef Kendall who came out to talk to us. Great knowledge about food and especially sourcing local. The house itself still has rooms filled with tables and high tops and the bar area. We loved our table as it wasn't near anyone and it was spacious. The menu is great . So many varied things . New things to me and some classic Italian dishes. Their cocktail menu was nice and simple and they also have a nice wine list . I went with the white Negroni, also on our table was the classic Negroni and the Big dom, bourbon based drink. All were excellent and served nicely. Food wise we ordered to share dishes. We started with the French toast alla carbonara. Take on the classic French toast but savory. With a honey aioli. Nice big slice of toast and the aioli underneath. It was a nice crunchy bite and even with the honey in the sauce it wasn't sweet. Nice different app. Also tried the NC terraine. Made if rabbit and pork. With sweet onion and stone fruit. Which was nectarine. This is recommend they serve with a cracker or some kind of bread. As by itself it's just kinda like meatloaf. You kind need something to put it on. CJ was nice enough to bring us some bread! It was really good rabbit though. Not gamey tasting and subtle flavors. Nothing overpowering. For entree we had the potato gnocchi with arribbatta sauce. This was excellent and we loved the sauce. Slightly spicy and a few jalapeños on top for a little extra heat. House made gnocchi was not too heavy but nice and fluffy. Our next dish was the Reginette, kinda a deconstructed lasagna. This came a little dry and scorched at the bottom and we sent back. They redid it and it was much better with extra sauce. Kendall the chef came out to apologize and we were impressed how quick they turned it around. The gnocchi was definitely my fave thing though. Really enjoyed this place - so much that I went back a second time within a couple weeks after my first visit. It's in a redone old house with each room having a unique vibe and providing an intimate feel. I love that the ingredients are all fresh and the menu changes based on that. Everyone that works there is very nice and knowledgeable. Different people brought out each course and explained the dishes as they did. Spaghett in Charlotte's Fourth Ward is one of those spots that immediately charms you before you even sit down. Housed in a historic house, the place feels like grandma's Victorian living room got a glow-up, swapping lace doilies for Aperol art and a buzzing craft cocktail bar. I heard they hold a couple of tables for walk-ins, so I rolled the dice and landed at a high-top in the bar room, where the green walls and cozy vibe made me feel like I'd wandered into a pasta speakeasy. First thing I did was ask for a Diet Coke, which got me a polite "no" and the feeling I'd just asked for a Capri Sun at a wine bar. They do Italian sodas and spirit-free drinks, but I kept it humble with Charlotte's finest tap water. On Sundays and Mondays they offer something called Supper at Spaghett($60), a four-course chef's choice situation that's basically Italian omakase. No menus, no decisions, just vibes and hope they don't hit you with beets. Everything here is locally sourced from NC farms, and you can tell. First course was a tomato salad with peaches and vinaigrette made from tomatoes grown at Small City Farms. I don't usually mess with tomatoes, but these some were blanched and dressed like they had somewhere important to be, and paired with the vinaigrette they were bright and refreshing. Alongside that came focaccia with kale pesto and whipped ricotta. The bread was perfectly baked, sitting on top of rich olive oil, and that ricotta was so creamy and light it could've floated off the plate. For the pasta course, my server picked the gnudi, which were ricotta squash-stuffed pillows of joy. Heavy and creamy but the portion was smart, rich, heavy, creamy, and portioned just right that I felt like I was wrapped in an Italian grandmother's hug without needing a nap on her floral couch. Then came the intermezzo, a slice of sweet potato bread with aioli. The bread was insanely good, moist with just the right sweetness, and honestly I could eat it for breakfast every day. The aioli had a ham-like bite to it, which sounded odd but somehow worked. Still, that bread didn't need any help, it was that good. For the entrée I got the coulotte steak (sirloin cap), cooked medium rare with a pan sauce in the style of steak Diane, served with mushrooms, potatoes, and broccolini. It was flavorful, tender, and juicy. Didn't blow my socks off, but it was solid, and the sauce tied everything together nicely. Dessert was a bread pudding with apple cider caramel, served warm and reminding me of challah French toast that had wandered into an apple orchard. Good, cozy, but not the most memorable dish of the night. Overall Spaghett nails the concept of being a neighborhood pasta house with personality. The space is charming, the food is thoughtful, and the menu is playful enough to surprise you without getting too weird. It's Italian food seen through a Carolina lens, with everything sourced from local farms, and the staff keeps things relaxed and approachable. I don't write reviews a lot but this was quite possibly one of my worst dining experiences so I feel compelled to do so. My husband and I enjoy dining out all over the city and country. When we came to find the "renowned Sam Hart" whose food we had before was the chef behind Spagett, we couldn't wait to try it. Dinner reservations were tough to come by as expected, so when Brunch reservations became available we jumped on them. Outside of the cool feel of dining in an old house everything else was terrible. The server never explained much of anything on the menu upon arriving at our table which, you'd expect at a new restaurant. The menu was poorly written and the waiter couldn't answer any of our questions such as, if the cocktail I chose was sweet. He told me he "didn't think so" and then tells me the first ingredient (Limoncello) listed on the menu is what it would contain the most of.... Which is obvious. My husband ordered the Carbonara French Toast. Nothing to write home about but the worst part was that it was cold. I ordered some egg dish with tomato sauce. The menu stated "SC egg" as an ingredient. When it arrived it looked like pasta. Turns out it's strips of omelette mixed into a sauce to resemble pasta. Would have been nice if the menu or server told you that the eggs were prepared like an omelette, it was just fine. Very bland. Lastly and probably the biggest problem is that after the cocktail I ordered fell short, I ordered a prosecco...that wasn't. I started drinking it and it was SUPER sweet. I tell my husband this tastes like moscato. When the server comes back I ask "is this processo? Because it tastes like moscato." He tells me it's a Moscato Prosecco LOL which is the first I've ever heard of that and is not a thing. Who serves someone something they didn't order especially a moscato and tries to pass it off like a prosecco AND lies when asked? We had to ask him to take it off the bill. Terrible way of service. I should have been told they didn't have prosecco and been given an option - not have them choose one for me and hope I didn't notice. I will say we got quite a laugh that we'll carry with us forever on the newest wine "Prosecco-Moscato". The manager or someone who worked there that didn't introduce themselves, came up and apologized about the moscato and by looking at the very little we ate, asked us how it was. He apologized and comped the French Toast as well. We appreciated that but that's what you should do. The entire experience was highly highly disappointing especially for how much we were looking forward to it. Maybe it's because it just opened or maybe we just had a really unlucky experience but I had to share since it's been a long time we've gone somewhere in which everything across the board didn't just fall short, but was terrible. Normally, if it was decent I'd give a place that just opened another try but we will never be back here - we do sincerely wish them the best of luck. read more

The food was fine, but you need to be sure you're ordering correctly in order to fully enjoy the experience. The pasta dishes were incredible, but the rest was pretty standard fare. We showed up and were seated early but it took quite a bit of time for our drinks and first course to be served. While our server was extremely kind, our service was slow with a full half hour passing between most courses. With their strict two hour limit, timing became such an issue that we were awkwardly asked to leave so they could turn the table, all while we were trying to sign our checks. For additional context, we still had full drinks that had just been served and were trying to move as quickly as possible but were addressed in a manner that felt rude and frankly offensive. Ultimately, the experience fell short of expectations and I hope they learn to better manage timing and customer experience. read more

I don't get the hype. The home is beautiful and has potential. However, the food was not great. First I tried the beef ragu pasta ($23). The portion size was small. It was a SINGLE LAYER of penne noodles on top of beef ragu. The noodles were a bit too al dente, but the ragu was good. There just was not enough. I honestly left slightly hungry. The dessert was absolutely horrible ! Salted caramel tart ($11) that was VERY salty and tiny. It was literally like a 3" x 2" piece. I also ordered a glass of wine I had never tried and it tasted like sour apple. I think it was supposed to taste that way, because a friend got the same thing and she didn't flinch. Service was fine and waitress was pleasant. A friend got the bread pudding and it was good. Worst part was THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CASH. I received the bill for my meal, and this fact is printed on the bottom. I wrote a note on the bill, when I gave my credit card, that I would NEVER RETURN because of this. I actually think it is illegal and there was a recent court case stating this fact. The waitress saw my note and explained they would accept cash, but they do not have any change if you choose to pay that way. I gave her an earful. I explained I knew it was not her fault personally, and I was tipping her as if nothing was wrong, but I would never be back. Also, I am letting everyone I know not to come here. I already posted it on my Facebook and folks are making comments (hence how I found out about the court case). I will be looking into this further. This is a huge deal for me and really bothers me, as it should every American. read more

Time to step it up with the fine details if Spaghett wants to make it to this time next year. My husband and I have been dying to try this place as it had some mixed reviews and was fairly new to the area. Parking was not fun or easy; heads up! The house is situated in a neighborhood without any great views of the city, if that's what interests you when dining in the city. We were seated in a very green dining room space where a Bose speaker sat atop a cabinet to give the room some ambiance. The waitress who seated us was not clear, nor was the menu, that when they offer their chef selections tasting menu, the whole table has to have it. So, we ordered off the regular menu instead. We love to have sparkling water so we asked for the cocktail menu and two sparkling waters. She brought over a glass jar that looked pre-filled, from earlier, to our table and poured it into our glasses. Zero fizz! No carbonation and it tasted like stale tap water. When we asked her if they carried bottled sparkling water, she said no. They only serve it from a fountain. The general manner came over and we asked him the same question. He said with a bit of attitude, "It's a 5 thousand dollar carbonated water machine. Maybe it needs recalibrating but we don't carry bottled sparkling water because we don't have the space to store it." Im not sure if he was trying to impress us with the cost of the machine wit his remarks, but clearly you don't store carbonated water in a pitcher to pour out later in the day. Our food arrived, and it was okay. Nothing I couldn't have gotten cheaper somewhere else and with a bottle of sparkling water. Oh, almost forgot... the decor of the rooms are unique but they spent ZERO dollars on landscape. I will attach a photo of what we had to stare at the whole dinner. Very sad landscaping! Back to the food, when my gnocchi came I asked for cracked pepper and the waitress said, "oh we don't have that here but I can find a shaker of pepper from the kitchen for you." She then comes back from the kitchen with a paper grinder than she said she found. Oh, they also do not serve espresso here when we asked to see the dessert menu. Shocked; but they probably broke the bank with that 5k sparkling water machine. Honestly, unless things dramatically improve, I don't see us coming back or recommending this to friends and family. Spaghett is a fun new restaurant that may or may not be named after a character from Tim and Eric and is located in the charming 4th Ward neighborhood. They are located in a historic home and the place is beautifully decorated and cozy. It is a great spot for a date night as their dining room provides an intimate setting. I recommend if you are planning a night out here that you make a reservation as they have been very popular since they opened. Their menu focuses on pasta and cocktails while also proudly sourcing their ingredients locally. The service was wonderful. The only thing that keeps me from giving them a perfect score is that I felt their portions could have been larger for the price point. While I really enjoyed the flavors of my dish as well as the presentation, I had to consciously slow myself down from eating or I would have finished it in less than 30 seconds. Had we not ordered bread I'm almost certain I would have left still hungry. It may be that the dish I ordered was meant to be a shared small plate, but it was listed under their pasta menu so I was under the impression it constituted a meal for one person. Typically at a pasta focused restaurant I would expect hearty dishes but it could be that I misunderstood the concept they were going for. We decided to go with the spaghett chef's choice dinner. Everything that was brought out was absolutely delicious. They put a lot of thought and creativity into each dish and everything is cooked perfectly. Our waitress explained everything in detail and was very knowledgeable about each dish. I conflicted on the rating here. The food was good, but not amazing. The ambiance was great, but the parking was frustrating. Our server was great, but the hostess rudely telling us our table was needed left us with whiplash. We won't be back. Two of us were early but our third couldn't find parking for a full 15 minutes. Regardless of that, within 5 minutes of our reservation time we ordered the chef's tasting menu for the table. We tried many good dishes but were confused when the pasta course came out with only 2 options on 3 plates. Seems like an easy thing either make 3 options or just reduce it to 2 plates, especially for an Italian restaurant. Dessert was the same for all 3 of us as well when we would have much preferred 3 different items to taste. The coursing was steady and we weren't slow to eat. We paid our bill promptly when it was given and were just finishing up our drinks when the hostess came up and said "We need this table in the next 10 minutes." The issue wasn't that the table was needed, it was the manner it was conveyed, especially since we didn't determine the pacing of the meal. She was brusque and this interaction left us all reeling. TLDR: Don't go unless you can uber or you won't be there in time for your reservation. Don't expect kindness when they're conveying the time restraints. We couldn't figure out what the hype was about. Wine menu is limited and outrageously overpriced- Washington state cabarnet at $630? Really? Pre-fix menu frankly did not taste good. This is a very snobby place. If you feel like being talked down to, you're in the right place. I would not step foot in here again if they paid me to come back - but they won't. Spaghett is truly one of a small handful when it comes to the best dining we've ever had in Charlotte. I can name some of the city's tip-top, most well-known, highly-reviewed establishments, and honestly, Spaghett can stand up alongside any of them. The service was A1, the ambiance was amazing, the food was even better, and believe it or not, for a nice restaurant -- the price was even better. I would say for fans of fine dining along the lines of places like Supperland, Lil Mama's, Chima Steakhouse, Steak 48, etc., this place should definitely be in the rotation. Everything we had was amazing! Atmosphere was great and service was excellent. It is not your "typical" Italian restaurant and something much different from anything i have had before and I really enjoyed everything we had. This seems to be a place that will be changing their menus which will make coming back easy. Our favorite thing was the potato scarpinocc followed by the pork. The pork was very tender and the pesto rice went very well with it. I do wish for the bread service it came with more bread because it was so good and an option to just have oil to dip it in. This restaurant opened just a block over from where I live. Being an architecture and history nerd I love that is in a beautiful old home! I was so excited to visit and just couldn't get my hands on a reservation. I took my chances and showed up at 5:30 on a Friday and luckily there was a table open near the bar. The design of the restaurant is gorgeous. The staff and service is even better - EVERYONE was so kind. The espresso martini was to die for. Bread service with whipped ricotta was the perfect light appetizer before we got our pastas. Both of our dishes were phenomenal. My only thing, the portion size on the Cacio e Pepe was small, it was so delicious I wanted more. I couldn't recommend this place more and I cannot wait to come back! read more

Okay I had high expectations for this place and have been wanting to try for a while. It's in a cool historic house and that part was great - the vibes were warm and cozy and there were tables in the various rooms throughout the house + decorated for Xmas. The drinks, app, and desserts were good. Drinks very good, app (bread) solid and dessert was good. Certainly nothing mind blowing. My main - pasta, was actually bad which I think is difficult to do to pasta. It was bland and overcooked + dry sausage. Im usually a clean plate girl but I didn't even finish it because it really just lacked flavor? I'm glad I went to check it off but I'm not sure I would go back. Went to the bar with 3 people and were turned away because the bar seating is only for 2. Made a dinner res a couple weeks later for normal service then were told day before that it's now a pre-set 4 course meal for $70 each - not what we reserved. Pretentious and misleading to switch up on us like that. They should have honored the reservation. read more
