Hands down, my favorite bar in Charlotte. Chase is the best bartender - he always takes time to get to know you and make sure you're getting a drink you like. The vibes in this place are great. If they have a DJ or live music, it makes for an impeccable evening without being too loud or turning into a club. You can always find a drink you like on the menu (or order a classic) but I recommend trying something a little out there. Totally unique cocktails, great service, and a beautiful bar make this place a winner.
This place blue my mind. I was visiting my best friend while in town for a conference on amusement ride standards. We had a reservation for Blue Door for Saturday night, and it was amazing. Now while she was vaguely aware of their "spirited kingdom" menu, I had NO CLUE. It was the best surprise! They have such a cool menu with a full theme park map containing 4 lands with 4 cocktails each. The cocktails all match the type of ride they are, it's honestly such a cool idea, and it was so well done. I loved the art. I will say, I was skeptical that all of their drinks would actually work and worried that they'd be too caught up in the theme to make results but . . . Oh my goodness I was so impressed by the drinks here. I think a lot of bars these days can get so caught up in trying to be unique that their drinks become nearly undrinkable. This place definitely doesn't suffer there. They brought us an aperitif when we came in, but unfortunately I have a blueberry allergy so we skipped that. We had 4 drinks between the 2 of us and they were all awesome. I ordered the star breaker and the green dragon (what can I say, I love gin and a good coaster), and they were both balanced and tasty. My friend got the diablo and the neon shift, and they were both fantastic as well! The neon shift was served with a black light too which was super cute. The one drink I have to call out specifically is the green dragon. There was something about this drink that was so unique, I have genuinely never had anything like it but I would order it a thousand times over. It's so good. It keeps me up at night. It haunts my every bar order. I will be writing home about it. What else can I say about this place - the service was great, the atmosphere was fun, and the DJ was amazing. I thought "wow this guy really likes sax covers" only to look over and see him PLAYING HIS SAXOPHONE LIVE?? Iconic. This place was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing about it. The spirited kingdom menu will only be around for 6 months according to the waitress, so definitely catch it while it's there! If I'd heard about it sooner, I would've maybe descended upon them with 200+ theme park engineers in town for the conference (maybe it's a good thing I didn't know they were there until after it was over), but instead I will just say DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND MAKE YOUR RESERVATION NOW
Loved this spot! With its proximity to other, rowdier bars, this was a welcome step away from the commotion. It felt elevated, though somewhat cold and dark, like a little cave getaway from South End. The menu is cool and I genuinely wanted to read through it. We had a few hiccups in which pages were missing, out of order or stapled poorly. But finally found good ones! Each drink is a city, and they give little blurbs about the cocktail and the city. Felt old, classic and cute. We chose 2 drinks and munched on popcorn (complimentary) and really enjoyed! I assume you could also order something you like that's not on the menu. Our cocktails were impeccable. Absolutely loved. It's definitely pricey, though we went on a Wednesday, and all cocktails were $10. Pro tip! We also were able to find parking - as it was just for a drink and a walk around - but beware as you may have to pay and it unfortunately feels a little far from the light rail (don't drink and drive!!). They immediately asked what we were celebrating and if we had a reservation when we arrived - felt a little weird - though it was not an issue that we had not made a resy. On higher traffic nights I'd definitely take a look at making one! Would definitely be back, though probably again on a Wednesday or for a celebration - $18 per drink is a commitment.
Blue door is located in the south end area & has such upscale vibes & serving up all the holiday cocktails/mocktails. It's the Perfect intimate hidden upscale lounge that's elevating the south end area ! I stopped by for a cocktail our drinks were good I'm not for sure if they serve food but it's the perfect spot for drinks ! I love how everything inside is blue & peep the ladies restroom when you go inside before leaving . Definitely Save Blue Door bar for your next date night or girls/guys night out
Blue Door is a classy and elegant cocktail bar that is both small and intimate. Emphasis on the small, there is limited seating so they highly recommend making reservations for you and your group. I've been wanting to come in and see the place for myself, and I had the opportunity when me and three others made a Sunday afternoon reservation around the holiday season. Like many other cocktail bars in the area they were decorated for the holidays, and the theme spread to their drinks as well. They didn't go all out like some of the other places we went and kind of reined it in with the decor, but it still looked nice. The most interesting part of the experience was their cocktail menu which came in the form of a graphic storybook. Each page contained a part of the story and the corresponding cocktail that went along with it. You have to admire their creativity, and their dedication to making cocktails that provide an experience. Like most cocktail bars the drinks can get pricy but we all enjoyed our drinks and had a great time. The only downside was that because the space is small it felt a little cramped inside, like we were right on top of the table next to us. Still awesome and would definitely recommend checking out for your next get together or date night!
Came here last minute before closing. Mike was a fantastic bartender! If you're ever in the area, be sure to stop by and ask for Mike!
Very cute date spot, I would say if you like intimate dates. You will need a reservation and there is a dj. The drink selection is unique and the prices are about 17-25 per drink.
Be prepared to try some well made and intricate drinks! When I initially walked into Blue Door, I was surprised by how much of a speakeasy vibe it had. I liked that vibe and my initially expected 2 drinks quickly turned into 4 because of how well made they were! The menu alone is impressive and apparently it changes every now and then as well, which is a fun way to spend an evening discovering the new drinks they have concocted! The staff were pleasant and they definitely enjoy creating these drinks as well. They are knowledgeable on each cocktail and they were quick with recommendations when we were still questioning. Definitely a very cool spot to hangout with friends and talk about life, would recommend to any drink enthusiast!
This is my second time coming out to blue door, their normal menu is 10x better than their holiday menu which kinda killed the experience for us.
VERY classy, cozy, and upscale bar in CLT. Even the bathroom is a page right out of a magazine. Reservations required and we got the last available option a week in advance on a Wednesday night at 9:30 PM, so plan ahead! Extremely unique cocktail menu. This is their current concept and I believe they change it up. I've never seen anything quite like it and it's amazing! Each cocktail is hand crafted to honor and tell a story about a major US city with high quality, flavorful, and specialty ingredients. Our bartender, Jordan, was wonderful! He was so friendly and helpful with recommendations, even suggesting where our next stop should be in town. Cannot recommend Blue Door enough - a must experience!
There is no bar that brings me the happiness that Blue Door does. The intimacy in South End is rare in itself, but the cherry on top is the staff interaction. From the host to management, every single person on this staff is amazing and provides the family establishment feel within a high end establishment. The decor, layout and flow of the bar will teleport you from its busy Charlotte location. I haven't had a drink I didn't love, but they have a "no sweat it" return policy if you don't like something. That's pretty amazing. I highly recommend the Charleston or let the staff surprise you with a craving of your own. Biggest takeaway - ask for Cam. Whether it's a hello with some good banter, full blown service experience, or the pleasure of having a Cam-special made cocktail... you won't regret it.
Such a creative drink menu and they're adding international cities to it! The bartender was very knowledgeable about the flavor profiles and made recommendations based on what I liked. Ambiance 100%!
Cute and intimate bar. Wednesday special is $10 any cocktail on the menu which is unreal and should not be missed. Bartender Chase was so nice and helpful. Cocktails were delicious, and they even have some NA options.

I came here by coincidence and it became one of my Charlotte favorites The staff was incredibly attentive, they gave us an appetitive drink or however you wanna call them and free popcorn. The cocktail menu changes every 6 months and this time it was famous pirates of history themed. Cocktails themselves were incredible. During the week sometimes they have live music and I'm planning to go back for that!!!! Loved it! read more
3.5/5 stars. Went back to Blue Door to give it another chance with the new menu... it's still my least favorite cocktail bar in all of charlotte. The menu this time is theme park theme... again, a fun concept but not well executed. Pretty overwhelming, especially with the bartenders explaining the menu to us twice with the same spiel there is too much to look at it makes it difficult to pay attention to the drinks. I really did not love my drink (starbreaker?) you could only taste the lychee The bartenders not a vibe, it was not that comfortable to sit at the bar. They now serve food, hotdogs... which do NOT match the vibe at all, so that was interesting that their only food (other than the free popcorn) is not hot dogs.. read more

The perfect date night spot! The setting was really romantic and elegant. On Thursday they have live music which is really nice and entertaining. Our server was so sweet, welcoming and patient. This is a great place to go after dinner to have drinks and hear music. Their food is good too. I ordered pretzel bites and their grilled cheese with tomato soup. It was sooo good! This is a must try! Love the vibes! read more

We took a trip to the magical Blue Door to celebrate my husband's birthday. What a gem. When we walked it - it reminded us of the private speakeasies of the 50s. From the security to the young women at the door it was already a step above. One woman checked out names in - and the other young woman hung our coats. We were then led through the magic blue door to the bar. It was my husband's birthday and they handed him a card and we were greeted with two glasses of crisp champagne. After a quick trip to the spotless and very cool restrooms we were given a tour of the menu by Michael. We love bespoke cocktails but the menu was literally a trip to some iconic cities around the US. I ordered the Denver, Co and my husband ordered New Orleans - both were delicious! We loved how the menu told a story - and we enjoyed paying through remembering trips we took to cities across the country. The service was amazing with all the bartenders being attentive. Each making us a round of drinks. We ended our night with an Italian liqueur which was a nice way to cap the evening off. Today I received an email to thank us for our patronage. The small touches really impressed us. This beautiful little bar shows care and attention is given to the details and hospitality is provided to the highest standards. We want to thank Michael and the entire staff for giving us a really special experience to celebrate my husband's birthday! We cannot wait to visit you all again! read more
