I visited this lounge for a girls' night out as it's one of the most talked about cocktail bars in Uptown. It has an upscale yet relaxed ambience that will remind you of Bridgerton with its royal flair. We went in the evening so the lounge was very dim, which was expected. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and attentive. No complaints there. The menu is filled with a variety of craft cocktails like the flawlessly blended Golden Elixir, wines as well as shareable plates that were beyond enjoyable. Sophia's lounge brings a beautiful elegance to Charlotte cocktail bar scene. Amazing ambiance with the perfect setting for a romantic date or a good time with friends. However please stay away from a bartender named Rae she unprofessionally approach my date and told her she should rethink her time and that she wasn't safe. I have never met this bartender and it was my first time there. This completely made my date unsettled nervous and we immediately paid the check and left and met up with friends. Think of it as a gift your parents gave you with pretty wrapping paper, but not even close to what you wanted. I heard many great things about Sophia's Lounge inside the Ivey Hotel Uptown. Upon entry the hostess was very friendly but after seating everything went on a steady decline. It took our server multiple times if passing us, both with the notion of being in the middle of dealing with running items for other guests but also busy work of walking around everywhere before coming to us. The decor was nice very eccentric but the music definitely did not match the atmosphere. Think forever 21, but you're sitting in your great aunts fancy home. Confusing. We finally got our orders taken and it was a nice wait for them to arrive. We never received silverware from the actual server and when we asked the person that brought the food out, they did not seem too happy with the request for some. My steak arrived before my boyfriend's sliders. My steak was very seasoned, the cook was to be medium. Out of the two steaks, only one was the actual temp. Fries were good. For our drinks I got the espresso martini and he got the Long Island. I will say that Long Island was extremely refreshing and you could tell it was in house sweet and sour, but my Espresso martini fell short. Very underwhelming, barely taste the coffee and it fell flat for me. The sliders were okay for me, I wasn't a huge fan of the bacon jam but my boyfriend liked it. Located in the beautiful Ivy hotel is Sophia's Lounge. The Lounge is tucked away in a remote location. The inside of the Lounge has dim lighting with a vintage vibe. The food was tasty! I will start with the chicken and waffles slider. The chicken was crispy and golden on the outside and juicy inside. The waffle buttery with syrup on top. This was my favorite thing that I ate. My friend and I did share a few appetizers and dessert. The crab cakes were ok. It seems to have more filler than crab meat. The truffle fries were yummy and served with a delicious sauce. The macarons were good also! We also had the Triple Crème Brûlées with Caramel , Oreo and expresso Crème Brûlées. My favorite is the Oreo! Sophia's Lounge is located in the Ivey's Hotel in Uptown Charlotte. It is a dark moody lounge with some good small bites and really good drinks. The service is exceptional with the receptionist, waiters, and bar tenders. The food is good enough to hold you over but the drinks are the headliner here. This is great spot to hang out with friends, a date, or coworkers. I do however think it is a little too dark inside here and the seats are a bit uncomfortable to sit in. All in all I think it is a cool spot to hang out for drinks. For the food menu I would recommend the truffle fries and the chicken and waffle sandwiches. read more

Our group of six stopped in for a drink on a Monday night. We were waiting at the host station and an extremely curt and slightly rude guy approached us asked, "What do you want?" Following our response, he asked if we had reservations. After being directed to our seats a very welcoming gentleman came over and took our order and even helped us decide where we were going to go to next. I later discovered the gentleman that sat us was the bartender(he delivered the drinks) and probably explained his attitude. I wouldn't be opposed to returning, but not the top of my list. read more

We waited too long for food, and the first round of drinks disappointed. The staff, though, was incredible. Jasmine, David, Anthony, and Pete were running around, making sure everyone felt cared for. They apologized repeatedly for the delays, checking on us constantly. Their dedication was the highlight. I'm a regular here and this place is one of my favorite hidden cocktail bars. It's under the Ivey Hotel and the atmosphere is a very cool vibe! They have swanky couch sections and it's more intimate. I always sit at the bar because I love the bartenders here! They remember your name and drinks after meeting you once and the service is top tier. I love that they offer acqua panna water and they have a very nice espresso machine for espresso martinis! Make sure if you go on the weekend you make reservations but other than that you should be able to grab a table during the week nights. Sophia's...okay, let's go. GPS will NOT take you to the front door. I ended up at the side entrance of the hotel but the valet/security guard was helpful and let me walk through the hotel area. I was told on the phone that Valet was $25 but found it the price is actually $20 if you use Cashapp. Booking online was simple enough but nowhere on the website or the "know before you go" is this important detail. I actually was browsing photos and read it on a menu. 22% gratuity is added to checks on parties of five or more. Don't love it but okay. But the kicker is..."checks can only be split in even amounts." What isn't included here is that you can only use a total of three payment methods. That is literally a mess! I would love to hear more about why this policy is effective. Either way, this information should be at the front of your website as it affects planning and possibly your guest list. Onto the food...I do appreciate that you can make any beverage a mocktail. I didn't appreciate that the manager was also serving as the bartender and when we were charged for an additional mocktail-had to eat the cost because of how the bill was split and because the manager was bartending and couldn't tend to us. There are literally two vegetarian items on the menu and the chef can't create anything nor can you sub the items on the menu. That being said, the fries were tasty and you could tell they were fresh. The aioli was a bit thick-personal preference. Everything is designed to be shareable and that is accurate-I took half of my food home. Unfortunately the pizza wasn't worth reheating. It almost seemed undercooked and the sauce lacked flavor. When we tried to order dessert, two of the items were sold out. ‍ The place is absolutely for the vibes. The furniture is ornate and the artwork is beautiful. There's a couch area with fireplace and a beautiful staircase for photos. The bathroom is even very pretty. Such a cozy little lounge and bar! I know it's been a staple here uptown for awhile, but this is my first time here. Great place for pre dinner drinks, walking distance to a lot of nice restaurants. They do serve small plates here as well. The bar was well stocked, but short staffed. So drinks came out slow to our party of 15. But we were it in any hurry. The seating was very quaint, couches, chairs, throne type seats! Also great date night spot. The staircase to the Ivey hotel in which it's located it a great picture spot. Decorated really nicely for the holidays. I had a empress G&T, which was as always great. Then I had a southern nights, mezcal, patron, lime, pineapple and Tajin rim, yum, totally loved this ! drink. We had the truffle fries, which were so good, great aioli, and the Margherita flatbread, delicious, nice with the Gruyère cheese, the chicken, bacon ranch flatbread, also was very good, fully loaded, they don't skimp on the toppings. We stopped in Sofia's while looking for a post dinner spot during a weeknight. They were not very busy, there was a large group for a birthday, and a few other tables. This allowed us to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere (I would expect they are busy on weekends and finding a spot may make it less enjoyable). The lounge is beautiful: velvety couches, intimate groupings of chairs, glittering chandeliers and a montage of art on the walls. A grade staircase divides the spaces, during our visit, lit with fall decor. They have a short list of cocktails and a more extensive wine list. The drinks were good, but a bit pricy, though likely on par for the area. The service was a struggle, likely due to short staffing and attention demands of the larger group. Dinner: the menu is small but everything we ordered was delicious. The escargot had two in each area instead of one like most restaurants. You can't go wrong with garlic butter sauce. My husband and I split the pork belly and scallops. I ate all the scallops and he ate the pork belly. Both were cooked well. The crab cakes and sauce were excellent with a lot of crab meat. Breakfast: I got eggs Benedict over hash browns instead of a croissant. I'm not sure if they forgot the sauce or maybe they were out but there didn't seem to be any sauce on it. It was still cooked perfectly. I also ordered the crepes. They came with Nutella filling and strawberries with some powdered sugar. This alone would definitely not have been filling for breakfast. Probably one of the coolest and most underrated places in Charlotte! I have been wanting to come here for years but never had the chance. I'm so glad I finally did because it's sooo nice! For a Thursday at 8, it was pretty quiet and we were able to grab a seat right away. But by 10:30 it was packed with people! Our server was very nice and checked on us often. I started with The Crown drink. I loved the presentation! It was a really light and fruity drink which I loved. Then I had the espresso martini. It was also very good and very strong! While the beginning of my group's experience at Sophia's Lounge was filled with great service, the latter half was horrible, as the MANAGER/BARTENDER (who would not give out his name, but has a ponytail), wrung up our total wrong, and we were not informed of the new total. Instead of informing us professionally, he began to constantly run the card on file (6 attempts @ $1300), which led to us being unable to finish the transaction quickly since all of his attempts created a fraud flag with the bank. Again, instead of giving us a second to call the bank to release the hold, he began to verbally harass members of our party. Once the bill issue was rectified, he was still very nasty to us and called our guest of honor a "bitch" after she requested an apology from him. He was completely unprofessionally, rudely talking under his breath, and unnecessarily hostile after not being accountable for a mistake he made.
