I ignored all of this since there was no getting in the way of my good time but when another person said the same thing, I was like omg, same feeling here! I'm absolutely astounded that this sort of attitude, service and treatment to patrons is allowed. They were all there watching it. This is a reflection on the AC hotel brand and not the "bar". I stopped by to see some friends. And they recommended to come by Cordial for some drinks and a bite. Located on the 8 floors. It was a great night for a rooftop gathering. Weather is gorgeous and ambiance was nice and soothing. There were quite a few people at the place.. However, there's only one bartender working.. She had to service about 8 people at the bar including myself.. She was overwhelmed but she kept her cool. She had to make the drinks, delivers the food and try to restock everything all at once.. I really wish Cordial would've handle staffing better. Since this is not the first time I been to this location. They alway seem to be short handed. And the bartender seem to be doing everything. I ordered tomatoes & Prosciutto Toast. Definitely not my favorite. Toast wasn't warm nor do it has a nice crust. Overall soggy. The tomatoes just tasted like tomato paste. Nothing special. Cordial is a sleeper. Meaning, you may not hear or have heard much about it, but it's a pretty fantastic rooftop bar/lounge. Not to be confused with an uptown rooftop bar. Cordial is located on top of the AC hotel in South Park, but I wouldn't dare deem it as simply: a hotel bar. That would be 100% incorrect. Cordial is a gorgeous indoor and outdoor rooftop bar & lounge, nicely decorated with a great view of the city on one side. Be mindful that (like just about every area of Charlotte) one side of Cordial is facing an area that is under construction. It's unfortunate, but at this point we should be used to this as quickly as this city is growing. Try your best to be seated on the side with the city views. You'll see distant uptown buildings and lots of greenery. We had the awesome pleasure of just about having this place to ourselves as they were closing up early for a private wedding reception (Fun!). Ashland, was our bartender and whew...she is incredible! So creative and such a gem! She's legit my new fav bartender, go see her! We only came for drinks because I specifically was super excited to try the Summer Solstice pop-up cocktails. THEY DID NOT disappoint. :) Cocktails: "twin flame", "in my feelings", "it was all a dream", "failure to communicate" and a gin & tonic. All were beautifully crafted by Ashland and we really enjoyed each one. This was the perfect place to start on a summer Friday night on the town. Cordial is a nice rooftop bar on the 8th floor of the AC Hotel by Marriott in the SouthPark neighborhood of Charlotte. It has a nice aesthetic and chill, laid-back vibes with a nice view of Uptown Charlotte off in the northern distance. The main bar is located inside. The night I went to celebrate a friend's birthday, our bartender ran drinks from the bar to the area we were situated outside - but he still took orders inside. I appreciated that level of service. He was very attentive and even brought me a glass of water when he saw a new face in the group. Service was great. Drinks are reasonably priced and I love that it's low key. It's the perfect date night spot, maybe a place where you end up after dinner, it's perfect for a girl's night out or even a guys hangout for those who fancy it. It's also a perfect place for someone who doesn't want to stay home, but is fine going out solo. I didn't order food, but it seems that some folks in another party did - Spanish-style bites are available to order and enjoy. You can also order wine and beer if cocktails aren't your speed. There were only 2 bartenders that Friday night I went and one seemed to be a bit overwhelmed given the size of our party although we didn't order from her. Maybe a little more help behind the bar would make things comfortable for everyone, but I also understand the hospitality industry is taking a hit right now, so be kind to waitstaff. Is this place perfect? No, but come on, any rooftop bar/venue only has so much space and if you come up here on a Friday or Saturday Night, it's going to be crowded and busy. If you come here at night on those days and you didn't plan on arriving earlier so you could get great seats and hang out, don't mail the venue for your lack of forethought. It is a cute place with a great view and if it were not popular you could come here with an unrealistic expectation of getting any seat but.,. Plan! Some friends and I decided to drop in for some cocktails after eating dinner nearby. We're certainly glad we did as we thoroughly enjoyed the specialty cocktails which were well concocted. We tried the Shaken Colada, Cordial Mojito, and It's French. The gentleman that greeted us and gave a short explanation of the safety measures & requirements prior to going up suggested the "On the Line on the tap" cocktail, which I'm pretty bummed we didn't try, but plan to on the next visit. We decided to sit outside on the spacious patio under the pergola and I must say the view is amazing as you can see uptown Charlotte and a good bit of the surrounding areas around South Park- it was perfect as the sun began to set. Their offerings mainly consist of specialty cocktails, beer, wine, and small bites (the Caribbean Jerk wings were delicious with just the right amount of spice and the cilantro-lime ranch was a perfect pairing.) Just scan the QR code with your phone to view the menu and they sanitize thoroughly after each guest which is also a plus. Came here for a Yelp Elite event a few months ago and had a truly wonderful time. The hotel itself is in a not so exciting part of South Park as it is mostly surrounded by empty spaces but there is a lot of construction going on around so I believe it will soon be a lot more active. It is great to see an influx of rooftop bars in Charlotte as we haven't had very many for a city our size. The event was busy and the cocktails are carefully crafted so some patience was required but they were worth the wait. The outdoor area came complete with plenty of furniture and sunlight to take in the nice evening weather but from the setup I can tell they are able to adjust to all different types of weather and there is plenty of shaded areas as well as fire pits. This is where we spent most of the time during the event but they also have an intimate indoor lounge and another terraced patio area with table seating. I will certainly keep this place in mind for future special nights out. read more

This place has good service and drinks. The old fashioned is particularly well made! Their main outdoor seating area is small so it was already full by 7.30 on a Saturday night. They seated us on the side balcony and it was quite underwhelming as the view was of constructions and parking garage, not to mention no heating for a colder than normal night. Beautiful view, but that is about it. We have tried to go to Cordial 3 times. Not an easy place to visit. Once we were there, and the elevator would not take you to the 8th floor which is necessary to access the bar. After about 15 minutes, the person behind the desk tried to help. Could not get the elevator to work either, could not reach any management. Sorry. Tonight was a beautiful Friday night. We arrived about 10 pm. The hostess greeted us as we exited the elevator. She could not have been more rude. We asked to sit outside. She told us that all tables were full and there was one group on the waiting list. The bartender overheard us talking and told us to go outside and enjoy the view. It is a beautiful spot and view and the seating areas are very spread out. 3 groups were getting up to leave at the same time. We were just standing at one area enjoying the view. The hostess comes over to us and asks us to leave as we are blocking an area where she is seating someone. There are 2 other tables leaving. No offer to seat us somewhere else, can I help you? You walk in and just take the elevator up to Cordial and their friendly team allowed us to pick a comfortable table since it was the heat of a Carolina afternoon... I enjoyed a mojito with the wonderful local rum from Muddy River Distillery. I really like the cordial style of mojito it's not too sweet and very balanced/refreshing! As for food, the flatbread was OK. The chicken needed a bit more flavor or sauce since there was no cheese. The jerk wings and yuca were really good. Overall, I would like to visit again. perhaps at sunset to really take in views and ambiance or a fall afternoon. Definitely worth checking out. Nice hotel, located in a quiet area with plenty of shopping and restaurant options. We experienced a problem as our toilet began to bubble as soon as we entered the room. After flushing the toilet it flooded our entire room. We requested maintenance and a room change. The guy at the front desk went up to clean the floor and toilet area, but he did not think it was necessary for us to exchange rooms. We noticed water was still in the entrance way and toilet area and this was unacceptable and unsanitary. My husband returned to the front desk to inform them that we would gladly change hotels if they refused to provide us with a clean room immediately. This bar has an identity crisis, not to mention rude and incompetent staff. If you want to entertain a large group consider any other bar in South Charlotte. If you are told you can come in, be sure to get the name of the person you spoke to, and request a confirmation via text (to avoid showing up with your party only to be harassed by a broad shoulder woman with the tattoo on her arm). The Cordial should be named Discord to reflect the inexplicably rude and abusive demeanor of their staff towards customers. Thankfully, our amazingly kind and peace loving host and organizer found another location with great indoor/outdoor seating areas and incredibly friendly staff, great drinks and eats. When we arrived, we very very disappointed that that the outdoor seating area is very small and that we had to sit inside. We were surprised that the windows don't open up to the outside.
