This was an absolutely fantastic place to have a celebratory supper. All the food is fresh (though it may take a bit since there's only the one chef) and they try to focus on authenticity. Everyone in our party enjoyed what they got. The shrimp pasta was a clever way to elevate shrimp alfredo into something fancy. The sauce didn't overwhelm any part of the dish, and there were enough shrimp to round out the dish without making it just shrimp with some pasta as an afterthought. The focaccia before the meal was also the best I've had in a long time: springy, salty, and buttery. The service was knowledgeable about the menu and the history of the restaurant, and they did a great job of accommodating us with some issues that came up on our end. read more

I brought friends here who were visiting from out of town and it did not disappoint! There were only 2 servers so the service was a bit slow but they were working their butts on with being understaffed! They gave a great explanation of the restaurant, the owner is also the chef and makes everything fresh and authentic. The menu is small and you won't see chicken parm or penne a la vodka rather more authentic specialized menu items. Everything was incredible and the pasta was made fresh in house. We are all from the north east so know good Italian and this sure hit the spot! This will likely be my new go to Italian spot! I love the mom and pop small feel. read more

Fiamma is a family owned restaurant and Luigi is the general manager but also helps with serving customers and taking orders and describing menu items alongside the waiter/waitress, so the service overall is fantastic. The food is so so good. It is all homemade, you receive complimentary bread and traditional pesto to start which is so yummy, and the main courses and dessert are incredible. The ambiance is a dimly lit restaurant with a long hallway past the bar, but most seating is right when you walk in. There's a cute table for 2 all by itself up a few stairs if you want to reserve that private feel. read more

The food wins! Come enjoy it! Skip the corporate and save yourself from paying for all the extras, as Fiamma is some of the best Italian you'll eat in Charlotte. It's a family place (founded, owned, and operated) and it wins with what's on the plate. Lou (the founder / chef's son) is informal and has nothing on his mind other than you enjoying a great meal. The ambiance is casual and accessible, not high end but definitely excellent Italian dishes (sorry if you want spaghetti and meatballs). Kudos to the bar manager for the excellent NA offers for bubbles and wines. They know what they're doing there. I would give this a 2.5 rating overall. The service is IMMACULATE! So so good. I have to start with that detail. Such a cute spot with great vibes and soft music. The food though...was mid and slightly below average. That's great that everything is made fresh in house....but everything lacked flavor and any spice beyond that. For example, the burrata appetizer. Good amount of burrata, more than half the plate is the prosciutto laid out flat, no peppers as stated in the menu and a piece of eggplant so small I almost missed it. There's no sauce or balsamic on the plate, making the entire dish very lackluster. The tiramisu had barely any flavor and all I tasted was cocoa powder :( Hard pass for me on this one. read more

Hubby and I came for a Romantic dinner and this place is special to us. We started off with the cheese filled pillowed pouches of pasta and pears. One of our favorites on the appetizer list. I got a Vodka Auntie cocktail and it was delicious! It had vodka, lemon, and chai syrup. Our bartender Lou is one of our favorite people. He came out to chat with us, discussed the drink menu, and he's been there at least since 2023. The foccaccia bread with pesto they brought out is much more delicious than the bread they had previously. So kudos on the change it was perfect and freshly baked. They gave us orange sorbet as a palette cleanser before the entree. For dinner, we both got the lamb. They were divine, on top of grilled asparagus, and covered in a pomegranate reduction. Another amazing meal at Fiamma!! We love this place. I got the sea bass special which I was so excited to hear about because it had some of my favorite things all together in one dish - asparagus, artichokes, spaghetti squash, and sea bass!! My boyfriend got the bolognese with hand made pappardelle which was soo delicious as well especially with the Italian sausage add on!! Easily one of the top Italian spots in the city, certainly one of the most underrated. Service is always great with many servers having been there for quite awhile. The bar is selection is large and their new cocktail menu is fantastic! My favorites being their Amalfi Gin and Tonic and Bittersweet Spritz. Food is top notch, all authentic Italian dishes with house made ingredients. Favorites are the orecchiette, gnocchi con salsiccia and pappardelle. Fiamma is hands down my favorite place for Italian food in Charlotte. Neatly tucked away in the lesser known shopping center on Park Road--not to be confused with THE Park Road Shopping Center (IYKYK)--Fiamma is the CUTEST establishment...that also happens to have EXCELLENT service & even better food. So, let's get into that food. On my first visit, I had an amazing 4 lamb chop dinner, complete with a tasty balsamic glaze, expertly cooked asparagus, and a polenta topped with olive tapenade that easily could have made me say Mamma Mia! And did I mention it was beyond well-priced at $25?! They've since updated the dish to include truffle mashed potatoes & upped the ante to $33. But, with one meal easily equating to two--even for the hungriest diner--nobody's mad at this form of inflation. On my second visit, I was tempted by the truffle mash update but instead opted for the seafood risotto on special. And, as you can see from the photos, it absolutely was SPECIAL! It could even double as spectacular--full range of seafood, atop perfectly cooked risotto with a yummy pomodoro sauce--just YES! I made RSVP for an early dinner on a weekend night, and sadly, that wasn't necessary. We were THE only diners there from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm. WHAT-WHY?? No matter, we decided to start this super-exclusive dining with Fritto Misto...an appetizer dish which featured Fried Calamari WITH Shrimp. For entrees, my husband ordered Pollo Arrosto, and I had the Tagliolini al Gamberi. Then shared Panna Cotta for dessert. For drinks, my husband had red wine (?), and I had Red Sangria. I really liked the Fritto Misto, especially its addition of Shrimp. However, the Calamari was more chewy than crispy (I prefer the latter). My husband seemed to like his Pollo Arrosto, but he wasn't over-enthused about it. I'm glad I tried a different type of pasta. It was a very generous dish in terms of quantity of pasta...and I liked the light creamy texture. Again, it was good, but a bit short of amazing. Panna Cotta was also good, but I just remember it being even better in the past? The thing that was great (not just good) was their service. Guess that should have been a given, since we were THE only guests? Also, I loved that they still served up free Sorbet between the appetizer and the entree. Very classy! I also loved the generous portion and the rich, sweet flavor of the Sangria...but again, where were the fruits?? It was a very plain version, with just Lemon (?!?). Disappointing in presentation, but the flavor was great. Lastly, I hated the casual overhead music. It just did not fit the classy ambiance of the place at all. Overall, I was just a tad disappointed in the foods, and the depressing ambiance (awkward overhead music...and no other diners??). Normally, I would have given 3 stars for the experience I had...BUT! I must bump up the rating to 4 stars because I just feel that this restaurant NEEDS to stay. I'm so worried that this restaurant isn't going to make it at this rate. Not sure WHY there weren't any other diners on a weekend night?!? Maybe no longer THE place to be, but this restaurant used to be one of, if not THE best Italian restaurant in Charlotte. Fiamma has changed - the pictures are no longer accurate. White table cloths are gone. This is NOT fine dining any longer. The server started by saying 'to save time, she would only read the title of each special, and if we needed to hear the description she could do that if we wanted.' Then she asked after each heading if she had to read the description. (Why are we trying to save time before we give you hundreds of dollars?) The service is horrible. Our server took our water glasses before we were done, and blew out the candle on our table while we were still sitting there. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant at prime time on Saturday night. Then she ventured to the table next to us to roll silverware and eat her own dinner - the restaurant was empty but she was doing her side work at 8:30 in the center of the dining room. WOW...talk about ruining a special occasion dinner...this experience was one to remember (although I want to forget it all ASAP)!!!! We made a reservation for Valentine's Day at Fiamma and it was the worst decision ever. What went wrong? 1.Table was not ready until about 15 to 20 minutes after reservation time. 2.Our server didn't stop at our table until another 15 to 20 minutes. 3.We ordered 2 glasses of wine to start and the wine never came. 4.Our dinner plates didn't come out hot. 5.No one bothered to tell us about any specials. 6.The guy who brought out our food asked me if I wanted Parmesan and black pepper, but he never returned with it. 7.We tried to talk to the manager but only got excuses about the service. He asked us if we wanted to just leave and go somewhere else? (Did he not realize it was Valentine's Day!?!?) 8.We asked to talk to the owner, but someone told us he's the chef and was too busy to come out. 9.A couple was sat at the table next to us and they were promptly greeted, had their wine at the table within 5 minutes, had dinner specials read to them, and were checked on consistently. 10.This one is a kicker...we got charged for the 2 glasses of Chianti wine that NEVER CAME! Our first visit to Fiamma was years ago when we first moved to Charlotte. Man oh man has the service and quality gone downhill. I will say other couples in the restaurant seemed to get treated A LOT better than how we did...something was not right. My last comment is that we were seated in a corner not visible to many patrons, and we were pretty much the only mixed couple there. It's not the first experience we had where we treated differently because we looked differently, but it takes the cake. Had a party of seven people. I know large groups can make it tricky to keep up but the service was beyond terrible. We waited forever just to have water on the table refilled. I ordered a drink halfway through my meal and it didn't arrive until we were all getting ready to leave so I sent it back. The food was sub-par as well. I had the pasta with shrimp. No flavor. Shrimp was slightly overcooked. Came out cold. My husband had the bolognese and he also said it had no flavor. The kids said pizza was ok. Veal looked like cat food. The chicken dish was the only star in the show. I would have thought them reducing their menu down would result in perfection of this now limited selection. Unfortunately not. An incredible meal from start to finish with fresh ingredients and a robust menu to choose from. This restaurant doesn't serve the basic chicken parm or penne alla vodka like surrounding Italian locations. However, they serve and take pride in serving truly authentic dishes that are worth taking a visit. I was surprised that there weren't multiple tables filled, which might have something to do with the missing "American-Italian" items on the menu. As far as service, a 12/10! Our dinner was ABSOLUTELY amazing! Fiamma is a family owned and operated business since 2006 and you can feel that right when you walk in. The staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and had great service. The dishes and portions were priced extremely reasonably - even for a casual night out or there are options to make your experience more of a "treat" if desired, such as appetizers, after dinner palette cleansers, and desserts. Josh, one of the managers, has so much passion and has poured his creativity into the restaurant. Specifically, his creativity is expressed in the drink menu, curated around the themes of the Dilworth neighborhood - which even make for a good laugh because you know they're true! Ah Fiamma. You haven't changed, even during COVID times. The only thing that has changed was the required temperature checks bhen you went into the restaurant and more seating between tables. This will be a quick update, as not much has changed since my 2015 review. Instead of ordering the Veal I ordered their lamb chops in the wine sauce. Both, the wine sauce and the lamb chops were good. The only problem that I had with this, was that the amount didn't cut it for me. I think it may have been that the lamb chops were a little smaller? But then again, they were Australian lamb chops so I guess so? For dessert, of course the tiramisu. And it still stands on top as far as one of the best that I've had. It will basically make up for the entrees and apps (I think). Overall, it was good. The service was definitely lacking though, food was slow to come out as there was only one waiter. Other than that, Fiamma hasn't changed and I could definitely seeing myself visit Fiamma again. read more

My family and I came to Charlotte for a concert and decided to get Italian food beforehand. After deciding on Fiamma I will tell you I would come back to Charlotte JUST for this. We got the pleasure of being served by Lou (Louis? Loui? I'm sorry!) who was an absolute treasure to have wait on us. He knew the menu inside and out and gave very good descriptions of everything, he was incredibly patient and helpful with any questions that my party of 5 had. He was also so respectful of our time and made sure to ask if we were in a rush so we wouldn't be late. The flavors of the food were delicious and I loved the fresh flavors presented in each dish. The servings are HUGE and I loved the authenticity. The restaurant itself was very clean and had a nice atmosphere about it. Lovely music and an open view of the kitchen and pizza oven. We were visiting Charlotte and met some friends that have been there. We got there early, and sat at the bar. Had a drink. It was Meh...Honestly the worst cosmo I ever had. But we were seated at our table and things got better. Our server, was excellent !! He was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. He was super attentive. The food is fantastic, everything we ordered was prepared and presented very well. However, the service was disappointing to say the least. There were five of us and we showed up about 5 minutes early to our reservation, we got sat quickly and order drinks then waited a while to get the drinks. Each time we ordered it took slightly longer than expected which wouldn't typically be a concern except they forgot multiple items. We had to remind them of three drinks and an appetizer that we had ordered. Additionally, we had to go up and ask for the checks while the servers were polishing glasses at the bar. This little hidden gem for lunch is amazing! Wow. It is so romantic and has an ambiance that makes you feel like you are in France!!! We walked in and were seated immediately. Waters were brought out and our server was amazing! Bread and some kind of incredible pesto sauce was brought out to our table and it was the best I've ever had! We did the lunch special that was $11.99 which is a great price. I got a Cesar salad and my husband got the caprese. We both got the rigatoni for the entree. Could be bad luck, but despite manager trying hard to do some damage control! He was polite and server Enzo was a very nice guy, but plastic lid cover in my wife's plate wasn't a good start, then very delayed main course and stayed that kids and most of family finished their plates before I even got mine! Chicken parmigiana was ordered off menu per a friend recommendation, and was told best in town! But it's actually the worst I have ever tasted due to oil used 100+ times? And to my total surprise manager admitted it politely that they change oils every couple of days! Cancer?!!! They didn't charge us for it and actually went above and beyond with 4 free desserts but I DIDN'T eat and we paid 160$ for the worst evening in a restaurant in years! Politeness alone doesn't do it!! And make no mistake! Even they haven't charged us at all I would have rated y'all the same! This was our ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND and you simply ruined our evening! My wife was disgusted by the whole experience! It's a shame, because it's got the feeling of a little Authentic Restaurant we've experienced in Italy years ago! But not the food to back it up!!!! I've only been to this place once, and it was a couple of days before this post. My friend and I both enjoyed our main dishes, as well as the appetizers we had (Fritto & a salad--can't remember the names). We both loved every single thing we had, especially their complementary bread with pesto. And the pesto is one of the best pestos I've had, and I love pesto sauces. I completely recommend this place for a date night or just a weekday dinner when you don't feel like cooking. You'll likely have a to-go plate for lunch the next day if you get appetizers as well. Overall, we both spent about $45-$50 with tip included, but be mindful we had an appetizer as well and we didn't have alcohol. So the bill could be more or less depending. read more

They didn't run a lunch service Sunday afternoon so again I question this. * They ask that you order all your RW courses at the initial ask. Yet, wasn't prepared for my recitation. Yep, I came to order, dine and roll out. The calculated tip amounts on the ticket are 18%, 20% of the total bill including tax. This is new to me as I've only ever known tips to go from the subtotal amount. Yes, from the days of being a server to my current times of dining out. A rouge gnat or mosquito. But it's the south what can yall expect? The scallops had a great looking sear yet was under done to my liking. I forgot to say cook them longer. A real find for Restaurant Week. Fiamma has been on my 'to do" list for some time now and have shown up as a participating restaurant for Queens Feast aka Charlotte Restaurant Week a number of times. This year, we decided to go ahead and give them a try based on the most extensive Prix Fixe Menu I have ever seen. After a week of snow and ice and temperatures as low as single digits, we needed it. Made our reservations early and even then, we had to settle for reservations very early when they open or later in the evening so advise is to make your reservations as soon as possible. Ended up with a Saturday Reservation for 5:00 pm which is when they open. Allowed extra time due to I-77 Construction Traffic which was a good thing and got there about 10 minutes early. They were very nice and went ahead and seated up anyway since they were still sitting up which was nice because I don't move as well as I used to. Located in a strip mall across from the American Red Cross in the same shopping center as Ru Sans (one of my favorite Sushi Restaurants) and Fran's Filling Station which is also on my to do list. A bit nondescript on the outside but once you enter the front door, you enter a beautiful and romantic Italian Restaurant with very low lighting. Very tastefully appointed and while I must admit, like most Italian Restaurants, they do play Dean Martin and others Italian decent singers, this is the first time I been in a restaurant where the sound track from the Godfather was part of the musical background. We had not one but two servers and they did a fantastic job throughout the evening. Both were very knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. Started out with complementary bread a toast sticks served with a fresh pesto that was bright and full of flavor. For out appetizer, by wife chose the Scallops out of twelve possible choices while I chose the Fritto Misto. The Scallops were pan seared with a Cauliflower puree, mushrooms and a balsamic reduction. The Fritto Misto was deep fried Calamari and Shrimp and Vegetable and served with a somewhat spicy tomato sauce. Excellent choice for both of us. My wife is very picky about scallops and likes them cooked just so and this was a delightful presentation. The Fritto Misto was excellent as well and one of the best seafood presentations in both in terms of taste and texture I had in a good while. Going to the next course, they served a small dish of orange sorbet to cleanse the pallet. Nice touch. Moving to the second course, you have a choice among 18 different offerings. My wife loves Veal and they had both a traditional Veal Ossobuco and Vitella Fiamma which is veal medallions in a truffle sauce, mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Needless to say, the second Veal offering was a combination of many of the things she likes and she was not disappointed. Looking at it from across the table, I can attest to the fact that it was also a great presentation which is becoming a lost art. As for my self, they had two different Lamb dishes and I ordered the Lamb Shank in a Pomodoro Sauce and a side of Gnocchi. The lamb was fall of the bone, cooked to perfection. While not normally a fan of Gnocchi, it was good as well. Moving to the third course, which is the dessert course, you have a choice among five offerings. My wife was torn between the Tiramisu and the Cheesecake but in the end, went with the Tiramisu and did not regret it. I had the Panna Cotta and was impressed with both the texture of the Italian Custard and the freshness and assortment of the berries that topped the dish.
